As a Bricklink Seller I would like the ability to add line-item notes and/or
adjustments to an order, and have those notes/adjustments display next to the
line-item for that note.

This would make it easy and clear for sellers to do things like indicate to buyers
if there is an item shortage/substitution or if there is something notable found
when pulling an order.

For example, if I had an order with 10 lots and lot #7 was short 3x parts. With
this option I could add an note indicating the shortage, as well as make the
quantity adjustment. The order would update with the note, show the original
ordered qty and the new actual qty.

Currently this can only be done in the order general notes at the bottom of the
order plus a value in the credit section at the top. I've lost count of the
number of buyers who have asked questions, despite pre-notifications (before
invoicing), invoices notes and notes on the order.

Thanks,
lo vaquero

Use the Item Removal Request to correct the order.

This does indeed work at the basic level - thanks for the reminder. I would
prefer the ability to do this directly from the order, not have to open another
tab/browser to go to a separate (and buried) BL page to update the order. Also,
unless I missed it, although the order is updated, you still need to manually
note the order to indicate the change IF you want it to stand out.

I recongnize that this functionality currently exisits. I am proposing better
integration for BL 2.0.

Thanks,

Marc.

I wholeheartedly agree. Must be one of the most under-used features of BL, though.
Hardly any of the sellers I have bought from use it.

I have to admit that I had forgetten about this myself until earlier today when
a buyer pointed it out to me in reponse to an inventory shortage with an order
in my store.

Inventory shortages occur so seldom (for me anyways) that I forget I have the
ability to do this. It's one of the reasons that sparked my thought on the improved
interface.

Sounds like you feel you can simply cancel parts of an order because you've made
a mistake.. Surely the process should be ASKING the buyer first if you can cancel
part of that order.
Sellers like to say "once you place an order, you have to fulfill your end",
but the same has to be said from the buyer's perspective.

If you are short and the buyer wants them all, I think you have to actively seek
out a solution, including buying them yourself.

I don't think a facility where you could simply deduct from their order without
their permission is in the give and take spirit.

Submit a request to remove items from an order for your buyer or seller to approve.(PROBLEM
SITE)

So this is a request !!

Steekstra

Hi Steekstra. I'm not sure I follow. I'm not requesting a change for a specific
order. Just thinking through a suggestion to improve already-existing functionality
(the problem order page).

No, not really. I am simply trying to think of a better interface for the current
functionality. I am NOT proposing unapproved order changes without buyer approval.
Just an easier interface for sellers to do what we already have the ability
to do.

My apologies for not making that clear in my OP.

I agree with you - sellers should do everything in their power to resolve inventory
issues on their end.
