| I'm really getting tired of having to send fishing email to buyers who DO NOT
update the orders page.
I think its should be a requirement after two weeks time for local transactions
and at least 1 month for international sales to have some form of; "If you don't
update your order you CAN'T buy from another store until you do some order cleanup",
Please for my sanity and others. Bus your Order Status once you get your items.
Over this last year I have had a record amount of people who order/pay and then
disappear.
I'm not asking for Feedback. I just want them to flipping update status to received.
I think from my last 50 orders maybe 10 people actually updated to Received or
Completed.
The rest just think its optional.
Is this really to much to ask?

Why? You don't go update amazon, ebay, or lego when you receive your items,
why should we require it here? If you're going to set something up automatically,
why not just change the status yourself?

I think this hits the nail on the head with this issue.
Basically your preaching to the choir. Any veteran user who is reading the forum
probably updates their shipping status pretty regularly. The users who do not
are your casual users who are probably used to buying on many other online websites
none of which require any interaction with the site after payment is made.
So sure while it would be nice to get status updates changed with every order.
I don't feel there is any way you could make it mandatory.

And what happens when something gets lost in the mail? What about the issues
that sellers have been having with international shipments going into Germany?
If I'm out of town when shipments arrive and I have time to order more online,
then why should I be banned from making additional purchases when I can't see
what's clogging my mailbox?

I say no on this. The only thing that should be required from a buyer is a payment.
The rest is just optional gravy.

A big NO from me.
I am happy to get buyers who pay and disappear, this is very normal everywhere
else and they may just not think to do it, I do not want to loose customers over
such a trivial/non issue.

I'd say that your best bet is to put an note/card/packing slip in with the order,
and ask for them to update it when received, (and to leave feedback).

| It happens to us all, I just leave them 6 weeks and then change them to complete
and file them. As long as they have paid and haven't made a complaint, I can
live with it. It is hardly an issue, and certainly doesn't indicate anything
about the sellers trading practice or reputation, so why worry, some people are
just too busy to log in and do it,
and I agree with Rob, if you start making people do things after the purchase
and putting pressure on them, they will go elsewhere. Think about when you walk
in a shop, you like to browse at your own speed, put as soon as you get the over
helpful assistant walk up and say "can I help you?", more times than not, you
cut browsing short and go elsewhere. You are more likely to shop somewhere if
you don't feel pressured.

You don't even need to mark them complete. Just file them after a couple of
weeks (or a month for international orders). They are very easy to find and
unfile if needed, and it keeps your open order page neat.

Voted no as well.
If you've sent someone and tracked it, you know it's been received. If you haven't
tracked it, if you don't get an email "where is my package", then it's probably
been received.
yes, it's nice if they would, as would it be nice if they put on feedback, but
as John P said, what the seller is looking for is payment.
How about this. Put into your store terms that you will add 10% to each order,
that you will refund to them when they mark as received/complete and leave feedback.
That way, if this issue bothers you so much, then you have given them incentive
to do what you want.
I have packages sent in July to a fellow seller that didn't bother to update
anything..
ultimately, while it's nice to have the complete package, I don't agree that
there should be something in place to force them.
If it really means that much to you, you can do something yourself, but don't
expect people to buy into it.
