It's been a few years but I'm open again. Reset all of my new piece prices to just under past 6 months average sale. Open to offers as well, especially if you're looking for large buyouts. I look forward to seeing you!

And lose our macros? No thanks!

What are these macros you speak of? Are these the ones that were available years

That there is a really good argument. I've sold a few boxes to newbies, asked
if they knew they were buying *just* the box, then cancelled the order due to
the misunderstanding.

BL classifies parts pulled from new sealed sets as new until they have been used
to build. Simple to comprehend. Since every box was Used (built up,glued, taped)
as intended it can no longer be New. Simple to comprehend as well in my eyes.
New does not mean perfect.

By that reasoning it should be that the cardboard and ink has been used to become
a new box. Of course then the ABS is used but the parts are new. Now we're
at the point of parsing hairs over what 'new' means. It sounds like you
are aiming for first intended use. The cardboard and ink was new when it went
into making the box. Now of course it's used but the higher product, the
box, is new. Then the new box is used to package a set and you are saying it
is now used. Unless somebody is lucky enough to score a freshly printed piece
of uncut uncreased cardboard directly from GSS, all boxes are used. But I think
that pushes the midpoint too far off of the spectrum to be of any use for this
system.

I'm with WhiteVanMan on the gradation scale.

That's the difference thought between domestic and international though Brian.

I would think, the cost to send 2kg set to India is the same from Boston as it
is from Houston and San Francisco.
That's the way it works for Canada anyway.

Sure, first class or Priority? For 1lb, Priority = $37, first class =
$15. For 4lb, it's $46 vs. $36. Above 4lb it's all priority. Below
that, it depends on how many services you need to add and what sort of risk you
are willing to take. Signature confirmation adds $13 to first class, but is
not available on priority. Other caveats as well.

Your paperboy delivers the paper at the street edge of the driveway. You call
and ask to have it delivered inside your gate. He does, but now it's 8 feet
up in a tree. Technically, it's inside the gate.

Wouldn't you complain a little?

The problem is, the changes that are being implemented either break other sections
of the site or make things worse. When a store's tabs are completely hidden
because of a lack of testing, how do you check the store terms? If the store
defaults to a Splash page that simply says. "Hi, welcome to my store!", then
what?

So yes, the ability to buy IS starting to be negatively affected.

May I ask what is it you guys don't like about the new forum? Is it the fact
that it uses the "Entire thread on one page" format? or that new comments
appear at the top? Is there other any specific features you'd like to see
over there?

Dagsbricks already posted a good start of things that are sub-par with the MOC
forums.

http://moc.bricklink.com/pages/moc/comm/forum_view.page?id=1

I'll summarize what he wrote:

1 .Comments are limited to 560 characters? Many many posts need to be much longer
than that.

2. A one line text entry field is just wierd? Should be a text box like in this
forum. If you write past the one line it just scrolls and you can't look
back at what you wrote?

3. A new tab opens everytime you click on a forum thread. Why? Most people know
how to use back in their browsers. No need for a new tab

Now I'll add some new ones:

4. This community is used to a threaded style board. Using a flat style makes
it hard to see who replied to who and makes it hard to have a conversation.
One thread per page is fine, but there needs to be some indentations between
posts or at least add the post that was replied to in quotes so that you can
somewhat follow the conversation.

5. What posts have I read? Which posts have new replies? I just clicked on
a few posts, closed the 5 new tabs it created. Reloaded the base forum page,
and the posts I already clicked on didn't change color or anything? How
do I know what I have already read?

6. Loss of Profile info in post. This is supposed to foster community spirit.
Was nice in every post to be able to quickly see a users feedback rating as
well as a link to their store. In the new forum all you see at a glance is their
pic and their username? You have to click on their name to see any of their
info, but even then it only seems to show MOC info. I hope when this forum is
integrated into Bricklink 2.0 we will have more info available about them as
a seller/buyer since that is the focus of this site.

7. No way to preview your post

8. Doesn't interact with the database. No way to link Set/Part numbers like
you can here. ie

Part No: 3020 Name: Plate 2 x 4
*
3020 Plate 2 x 4
Parts: Plate

9. No image linking / uploading?

10. Doesn't auto-resolve html links. In this forum you just copy and paste
a link and it automagically makes it work. There you post a link and you would
have to copy and paste it again.

Well that is my start of what is wrong with the MOC forums. Hope that helps
get you started. I'm sure some others will think of more things

Just swap it out for Vanilla and it would be a vast improvement.

There's no simple or direct way to create a coupon just for Free Shipping.
There's a choice for a set amount coupon or a percentage off, either a flat
percent off the total order or over certain amounts with the ability to set a
max discount and the ability to limit the discount to certain types of items.

I'd like to be able to create free shipping coupons, also with limits like
we have for the percentage coupon, such as limiting the free shipping to minifigs
only, or a new feature, being able to exclude certain items, such as sets.

It would also help if the existing "limit discount to" wasn't limited to
1 category.

Thanks!

why not just invoice without a shipping cost?

I'm thinking because the coupon would be the incentive given in thoughtful
and limited quantities for particular reasons; not a blanket offer to all of
Bricklinkdom.

I would like to see a couple of things change in regards to shipping notifications
that are sent out by Bricklink.
First, I would like to have emails sent automatically when an order is set to
shipped by the seller. There are many sellers who do not send drive thru emails,
but if the buyer is looking for this message, it would be nice if the system
automated it so that this email gets sent with every order.

Hand in hand with that, would be allowing buyers to opt out of receiving drive
thru emails. I personally never read them, and they just take up space in my
email. I appreciate the sellers who send them as I believe it is good customer
service (I send them). But I don't wish to receive them.

Thanks,
Katie

I use the Drive-Thru for a followup if after a couple of weeks the buyer has
not yet marked it as received or completed.

Comments from Submitter:
Only 2 are listed in the parts list and this was confirmed by the contents of 4 sets.

I'd be careful with this set. When it first came out several of us were
reporting minor regional differences in the letter availability. Plus the contents
seemed to differ from the parts list on the back of the box and the instructions.
At the very least some of the seeming extra pieces should go to... extras.

Proposed method (now which seller would you pick?):
Seller A (1431+ / 46- / 10n)
Seller B (742+ / 1- / 1n)

Both numbers are high enough to be irrelevant in and of themselves.

How about:

Seller A (1385)
Seller B (15)

With the same breakdown as you showed previously.

I'd check out Seller B first.

I would think it would be a function of the search algorithm and terms being

Brian

Amazon and Target usually has hundred guaranteed in stock and they can leave
things in the cart for many days. BL parts, especially used parts, are in limited
stock with no restock time so items in cart can poof while you're looking
around. I've had things "snatched" out of my carts before when I tried to
checkout and it reported items were already sold before I could complete.

That would be my problem for waiting so long. I'm not asking for items to
be reserved. But if I put together a cart of a dozen or so lots and I'm
waiting for funding to come in, I don't want my cart to vanish. Some items
are bought, so what? I've still got the others waiting. Maybe I don't
want the order anymore, maybe I do. I don't want the system to decide for
me. I've gone back to Amazon and Target and been told items are no longer
available there too. Or that the price has increased. Whatever, I might be
willing to still buy it I just don't want to hunt for it all over again.

Heck, even S@H lets carts perpetuate. Is that a problem?

I think your complaint is valid but minor. It's no different to have an
item disappear from your cart than if you started shopping 2 days later and the
item was never there. As a seller I would think you'd be all over this.
"Yes, let the cart perpetuate, there's a higher chance the buyer will come
back and finish the order". Once the cart expires, will they be willing to come
back to your store and start it again?

And just to be clear, I'm not asking for sellers to see how many open carts
people have in their store. Just the timeout to be increased.

store. But I am not able to do this in one sitting. It may require a small
design change, waiting to hear back from the proprieter or *gasp* actually working.
So then all my carts expire after about 2-3 days and I have to work on rebuilding
them. It's enough to give up and source parts elsewhere.

Sure, I can save screenshots and try to save in Brickstock but these are extra
unnecessary steps. Likely there is a variable somewhere in the bowels of the
BL code that could be changed from "72 hours" to "720 hours". If Amazon, Target,
and the Owl can remember my carts indefinitely, I don't think it's asking
too much for BL to do the same.

And for those who would complain that it's unnecessary, tell me also how

Brian

Agreed. It is crazy to timeout carts like this.

Even better would be if I put something in my cart on one computer (and I am
logged in), it is still in my cart when I log in on another computer.

You mean tie the carts to a login instead of a cookie? That's crazy talk.

Yes, thanks for the extra suggestion. I feel that's probably a separate
slightly more advanced proposition.
