28th of May I ordered at this shop, the same day I received the invoice and I
paid immediately. And status changed automatically to ready.

But 31st of May they closed the shop, there was no reason given, nor an end date
of closure. So how do I know if my order will be send to me?

Sellers occasionally close their shop to catch up on orders or for other reasons.
I wouldn't be too worried. Has the seller shipped the order yet? It's
been more than two weeks. If not, I would send them a message.

Been there done that. Unfortunately, that's not really the way things
work around here. As Jen said, most stores here are run by individuals in their
own spare time, not large corporations with paid employees like the LEGO Group.
So, a cancelled order and the labor associated with it is much more costly to
a BrickLink store than say, TLG or Amazon. In fact, section 7.1 of the Terms
of Service explicitly states that no longer wanting the items is not a valid
reason to cancel an order, except where local law allows. I'm not sure what
the law is for Canada: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/terms_of_service.page

We had a buyer leave us great and positive written feedback, but accidentally
chose "neutral" instead of "positive" feedback as the radio button. They are
a first time buyer. Any way to modify this to be a positive?

We contacted the seller and they confirmed it was an accident, but this affects
the store and would like it changed.

Thanks!

This is the reason that I am personally in favor of eliminating the neutral feedback
option. I think that many new BrickLink users do not understand the connotation
of non-positive feedback on BrickLink and/or post neutral feedback by mistake.
I have seen neutral feedback that says things like "got exactly what I ordered".

I’ve never sold a used set before, and could use some advice.

I just scored Hogwarts Castle (4842) at a yard sale, and put it together only
to discover that it’s missing a few pieces (mostly basic stuff, but also two
of the owls, a rat, and some roof pieces) and half the minifigs (missing Harry,
Hermione, Voldemort, and the dementors), plus a few pieces broke during assembly
(which is a new one for me, I’d never seen a 2x8 plate snap)... I kept a list
of what I’m missing, but am not sure what to do with it. Is it better to try
to buy replacements for all the missing/broken parts, or to sell it as-is with
a list of what’s missing? And should I leave it assembled when I sell it?

Thanks!

Nice find!

Some enjoy completing sets, but if you're just looking to get the most bang
for your buck, then you'll have to do a bit of analysis. How much did you
buy it for? Make a wanted list with all of the missing pieces and play around
with the Easy Buy/Buy All page to get an idea of how much it would cost to complete
the set. Then look at some of the used listings and try to determine whether
or not it would be worth it to complete the set or sell it as is. And I would
definitely disassemble the set before you ship it; I have never had anyone try
to ship me a used set assembled before (except for stickered assemblies, of course).

I hope that helps!

Well, I found that menu, but at least it does not act on "easy buy", but this
is, what you mentioned already. The instant checkout is also ineffective. I am
surprised, that "easy buy" is so inconvenient or nobody likes to use this
quite good function.

Best regards and thank you for your support.
Joerg

Hello Joerg,

The problem with the "Easy Buy" function is that there are no filters/parameters.
All you can do is click "Easy Buy" and it selects stores for you, from anywhere
in the world and regardless of whether or not the store offers instant checkout.
This makes the feature quite useless in my opinion. However, the wanted list
buy page that SylvainLS mentioned is essentially the same thing if you use the
"Auto-Select" feature, but it allows you filter stores by location, whether or
not they accept instant checkout, etc. This is much more useful in my opinion.

As a side note, the instant checkout filter will filter out stores that do not
accept instant checkout, but that does not necessarily mean that you will actually
be able to check out with instant checkout. For example, I used to have a weight
limit of 16 ounces for instant checkout orders, so my store would show up in
the list if you applied the instant checkout filter, but if your order was over
16 ounces, shipping would show up as TBD and you would not be able to use instant
checkout. Other stores only offer instant checkout for orders under/over a certain
value or only to certain countries.

And you replied explaining about Store Filters and "Instant checkout". Well,
this is a perfect answer I guess and would support also my issue I have with
"Easy Buy". But even checking for weeks the "My BL", I do not have any clue where
to find such entry. Would you be so kind to explain, where I can find this entry?

The filters are on the Buy page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page
, the link is in the Want menu / heart-shaped icon on every page, or if you click
Buy when looking at a Wanted List (not EasyBuy on the list of Wanted Lists).

You’ll need to click the “Expand” link next to the phrase “Store Filters” to
see those filters.

See this help page https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2445 it has pictures
and explanation for the basics.
Feel free to explore and click here and there, nothing bad will happen

And, of course, come back here if you have any other question.

China want to crack down which is why cryptos tanked in price recently. Other

I speculate on crypto to ride the hype and make some money, absolutely. Do I
"believe" in it as a currency replacement, absolutely not.

While I agree with you in that cryptocurrencies are kind of shady, not all governments
are cracking down on them. In fact, the U.S. Federal Reserve is considering creating
a digital currency of its own:

https://www.federalreserve.gov/faqs/what-is-a-central-bank-digital-currency.htm

While I am not a financial expert and I don't fully understand what the differences

cosmicray is suggesting is that far-fetched.

Or should I/can I create a second account just for purchasing reasons?

Thank

No need to create a second BrickLink and/or PayPal account to buy while traveling
abroad. On step two of the checkout process, simply replace the shipping address
with the address that you would like the package sent to. This will replace both
the BrickLink address and the PayPal address with the new address. I believe
this only works for onsite payment, but since you are in Washington, as state
that collects sales tax, then I believe onsite payment is your only option, anyway.

Hello, I have been waiting for this order for almost two months, I have already
sent several emails to the seller to find out where the order was, after one
month he has finally sent the order, and now it is soon 1 me that I am waiting
to receive it.

So my question is can we ask for the refund after all this time where do I have
to keep waiting again?

I'm sorry to hear that. Where is the seller located? I don't know how
long it takes to ship a package within France or the EU, but I do know that it
can take a while for packages to travel from North America to Europe.

Is the package tracked? In the United States, all packages are tracked, but I
know that package tracking is less common in Europe. If the package is tracked,
then you will be able to check its status (shipped, in transit, delivered, etc.)
using the tracking number.

If there is no tracking number and you are doubtful that the seller actually
shipped the order, then you can file a non-shipping seller alert (NSS) on BrickLink.
The seller will have to provide proof of shipping or else the order will be cancelled
after a certain period of time and you will be given a refund (at least that
is my understanding). You can file an NSS here: https://www.bricklink.com/retractOrder.asp

If the seller did ship the order and it still does not turn up after a while,
then I would follow Brickwilbo's advice and start a PayPal claim (if you
paid via PayPal). If you paid via IBAN or some other offsite payment method other
than PayPal, then unfortunately, I'm not sure that you have much recourse.

I hope that helps.

Go to your store settings under this shipping tab:

and click on a shipping method. Scroll down to where it says "Destination & Base
Rate" and add a new zone with the countries you would like to ship to. You can
add all of the countries to one zone, or you can split the countries among different
zones. If you have multiple shipping methods, you may have to do this multiple
times, once for each shipping method.

PAB can be hit or miss. It depends on the parts and how widely available they
are. For example, I distinctly remember the sand green explosion of 2016, PAB
had never carried that color and then they did and every single store got it,
there is still a backlog, it would take about 3 and a half years at current demand
levels for the parts listed to sell. I have also found 8 x 8 plates though in
tan which sell for over 75 cents and they can top off and they pay well. Sorry
for my rambling but essentially you have to know what to look for.

I figured as much. I know that the PAB wall varies from store to store, but I
purchased a bunch of parts from the PAB wall back in 2017 and I just sold the
last of them on Thursday. So, like you said, you've got to know what you
are doing to make it worthwhile.

As a side note, how many 8 x 8 plates can you fit in a large PAB cup? If my math
is correct, at $0.75 each, you would need 21-22 of them to cover the cost of
the cup. I assume that you fill the empty space with smaller parts?

Baseplates don't have bottom tubes, so you won't be able to use them
as roof plates as you are trying to do (hence the name baseplate). Instead,
what you need is a regular 16 x 16 plate:

  Hi everyone,

Just opened a store to learn how works, I have small inventory for now but trying
to learn how to setup settings, shipping terms etc.

Please if anybody have constructive advice to anyone opening a store, like essential
terms and policies etc that can help first starters let us know!!

I would appreciate if users check my store and also advise me on any recommendations!

I have seen great people here and hope this marketplace continues the same great
path that have been on.

Looks great! Just keep adding lots, and you'll be getting orders in no time!

I noticed that you have the following line (twice) in your shipping policy:

"After the shipment has been made, the seller is no longer responsible for damage
that may be caused to the product(s) during shipment unless the buyer purchased
shipping insurance before checkout."

This is not really enforceable if you accept payment via PayPal. I've been
fortunate that I've never had a package lost, stolen, or damaged during transit,
but it is my understanding that when it happens, PayPal holds the seller responsible
for either refunding the buyer or resending the goods, regardless of whether
or not the package was insured. The purpose of insurance is to cover the seller's
loss in such a situation, and there is no benefit to the buyer of purchasing
insurance.

Also, just wanted to add that I noticed that a lot of your parts come from the
Pick-A-Brick wall. You might want to shy away from that, as that tends to be
a pretty saturated market. Not an expert in this area, though.

The recent Batmobile set inspired me to do the same for Adam West's sweet
ride. As far as I could tell the original 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car was
white or possibly light pea soup green (it's hard to tell from the old photos).
I found lots of photos of people's own concepts cars in a rainbow of colors
and red looked the sharpest so I went with that.

Even though I tried to stay close to the original LEGO design, this project wasn't
as easy* as I initially thought it might be. I had to significantly rework the
front and back ends and raise the body by half a plate so the wheels would clear
the new wheel wells (the Batmobile added a fender whereas the original Futura
really didn't have much of one). Undoing the enormous rocket booster was
also a challenge.

I'm still not totally satisfied with the back end (I've tried a number
of variations), so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them. Overall
though it was a fun little distraction!

  Thanks

Sadly no takers so have just stuck to a straight 40% 🙂

I would participate, but unfortunately, my country is not in the Euros.

Interested to know if people that sell parts for the love of LEGO are over this
site.

I haven't been around here nearly as long as you have, but I am certainly
not over this site.

1 outa 5 orders are bogus ... 3 outa 5 are not as appreciative of the parts they
receive.

I don't know where you got those stats from, but I disagree. Instant checkout
takes care of a lot of the non-paying buyers and while most buyers neglect to
leave feedback, that doesn't necessarily mean that they do not appreciate
the parts they receive.

For the last !!!! Thanks for enjoying having a place to get rare pieces at a
fair price and letting me know that you can be as geeky as I am about it.

Please don't go!

  Good morning!

A customer is not satisfied of 3 items of his order.
For each item he emails quite blunt and rude, doing his complaint. In the last
email, he demands money back for the whole order. Then he files a NSS and a negative
review, my first 😇. He did all this in 2 hours, when I was asleep. Only in the
review he is mentioning, that he had received only 10% of the order.
Normally spoken, if there’s something wrong, I’ll resend or refund plus a bit
more, for the troubles of the customer, but now I think the customer is aiming
for free stuff. What would you guys do?

Good morning!

I'm sorry to hear that. It looks like this buyer has lodged a few (perhaps
unwarranted) complaints in the past. If you have proof of shipping, you should
be able to get the NSS removed, but I'm not sure about the negative feedback.
Maybe try reporting the member to the problem center:

Perhaps if enough people report the member, BrickLink will take action. Or maybe
not. I'm not sure how BrickLink handles these types of situations. Good luck!

  Hi everyone,

how do you pack your items?
Not in terms of bags or boxes, I mean how to pack them in terms of what you put
in the same bag or when you use a new bag?

We are in the process of getting more bigger orders so in order to optimize picking,
I want to pick your brains on how you package items together or how you would
want them packaged if you bought from a store.

Thanks

Unpopular opinion here, but I bag each lot separately. It doesn't matter
if there is one part in the lot or 1000, it goes in its own bag. I do this because
as a buyer, I hate receiving lots bagged together because it requires extra work
to verify the contents of the order and I usually end up separating the lots
anyway using my own bags. However, I totally understand sellers that combine
lots in one bag to save money on plastic bags and reduce plastic waste.

Anyone know if there is a way for us sellers to receive notification when we
receive feedback from our great customers? I know where the feedback can be found
if we manually go looking for it. Just wondering if anyone has figured out a
way to get a nudge when one comes in. Thanks!

Not that I know of with BrickLink. Maybe there is some third party software that
does this. Or you could write a script.

I am proposing (with tongue in cheek) the ability to list a set as new in sealed
package, built once.

This has been the result of a party contest where you give all the kids a polybag
and see who can first build the simple model pictured, all without opening the
bag. Most often there's only a narrow clear stripe on the back where you
can see what you're doing.

We did this with a little boat with a guy in it like 30017. It was simple enough
to do without instructions. Love to try it with the 5-wide Elva, 30343, but you'd
definitely need a set of instructions to reference.

I love it. "Built once, never opened." Can't wait until people start doing
this with boxed sets.
