| Not being fluent in computer programming, I am not aware of the work it takes
to edit entries. The last computer language I used was BASIC back in the 80's.
Like I said, it was just a thought to further streamline the catalog entries
into the correct order. And it's not like the entries that are in the wrong
spot are miles away from their correct spot.
Just something to put on the wish list...

| While this request is not overly important, is there a way to actually use the
fraction characters like ¼, ½, and ¾ instead of 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4?
The reason I bring this up is that whatever software is used, it orders parts
incorrectly by size.
For example, in Windscreens,
and
where the middle dimension is 4 2/3, are listed before
and several others that have a middle dimension of 4.
I believe it's because the software reads the '4' in each entry but
then sees the '2' in '2/3' and puts it first because the next
symbol in the others is 'x'. Numbers before letters. Which then puts
the parts out of order by size.
I do not know where the software puts the fraction symbols in the order of alphabetizing.
Would '4½ x 2' be listed before '4 x 2? My suggestion only works
if a 'space' is listed ahead of all symbols, numbers, and letters.
I remember Brickstore had an ordering problem in the past. For Bricks, it once
went 1x1, 1x10, 1x12, 1x16, 1x2, etc. It has since been fixed.
Anyway, just an observation I came across working on my inventory.

| I would like to get some opinions about a brick convention that is coming to
Maine this spring. It is called BrickUniverse LEGO Fan Festival. Apparently
it is a travelling show. I've wanted to attend such a gathering but I'm
a little leery about it.
First ,from what I can see, it is primarily LEGO MOC displays and some vendors.
No talks or workshops that I can tell.
Second, it is $15 per person over the age of 2. So for my family it would cost
$45. That seems quite high for just seeing some displays. And the $45 is only
for a 2.5 or 3 hour block of time, not an all day admission.
Third, vendors are charged $450 per table with a two-table minimum. So to make
that up in sales, they will bring primarily the high-end items and more than
likely charge much more than what I could buy for here on BL. For me personally,
that's not what I'm looking for.
I'm drawing my comparisons to stamp shows. I collected stamps for decades
and went to many shows. They were almost always free, or just a small nominal
charge and no time limit. The MOCs are comparable to the stamp exhibitions and
the stamp dealers to the vendors.
Has anyone heard of/gone to this BrickUniverse? What was your experience? Worth
doing? My instincts say no. I would like to attend a convention at some point
- Boston is the closest major city to me - about 4+ hours away. Is there a convention
worth travelling to?
