I would say that the rare parts are better selling since there is so many different
stores that sell the basic parts.

Yeah, I suppose it depends on how you're using the term "better"
with selling?
Consider what it is, dealing in "rare parts" as you put it. Is there
less competition? Yes - Higher profit margins? Yes - High demand? No, but in
demand by a lesser demographic - Sells in volume? No - Regular sales? No
- More discerning or demanding buyers? Yes - Up or downward pressure on pricing?
Usually only up.
Although of the same marketplace, the common (high use) and rare (collectible)
parts, I view them as different markets. Therefore I told myself long ago, why
not offer both for a more comprehensive customer base.
