Maybe someone cut them shorter for a project? I've done that before with
a razor knife.
In Catalog, WOLKsite writes:
| All of my 23221 are noticeably different in length (and longer than what the
name describes). Is this a common issue?
Four of these (all except the shortest one, the ones with the brighter green
rubber bands - I don't believe those are LEGO bands) are from a used copy
of 7690. The other one is from my 2007 copy of set 7691.
Of course, it is very hard to make these not bend so much... The baseplate in
the image is 48x48. The brick separators mark the lengths when straightened outs.
This increased length has pretty significant impact on 7690, putting quite a
lot of stress on the bricks. The shortest one is just short of 33 studs long,
the longest is 40.
LEGO describes these as 252 mm (31.5 studs).

|
| If you will look at the bottom of the Bricklink inventory, there is an explanation
for this.
Note:
Redesigned during production.
There are at least two different versions of instructions for this set. The differences
for the second version are indicated in this inventory in the Alternate Items
section with Match ID 99.
Quick overview of redesign: In the cockpit module various parts are added to
strengthen the build. In the track assembly two black 3708 Technic, Axle 12 are
replaced by four black 6558 Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise,
enabling the tracks on each side to move independently from each other.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are numerical errors in the parts lists in the instructions for both versions
of this set. The early version of the instructions incorrectly lists only one
pair of minifigure legs, but two are included. It also lists 13 dark bluish gray
32291 Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Double, but only 12 were
included. The later version of the instructions incorrectly lists one black 6558
Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise, but 18 are included.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dark bluish gray 32523 Technic, Liftarm 1 x 3 Thick in the later version
of the set has also been found in dark gray. The black 6538b Technic, Axle Connector
2L (Ridged with x Hole x Orientation) have also been found in the set as 6538c
Technic, Axle Connector 2L (Smooth with x Hole + Orientation).

No condition = complete though, as you can set them to Incomplete like you suggested
to them.
|
Now that I think about it, did the CMFs change in how they were inventoried meaning
you couldn't set incomplete on more recent series (and this is what you meant
about not having a condition like Sealed)? Or does the Incomplete condition remain
hidden on those but still are set that way?

All of your CMFs are listed as complete but with no foil/instructions (all 168

Why would you recommend they do the opposite?

ditching them entirely? Has anyone sold a complete set of 12? I imagine the buyer

Wow, that is really great, a very useful page! Basically they are the same. The
blue box seems to sell for more than the black box so if you don't have the
boxes you might just as well sell a set under the blue box link rather than the
black box link. Must be the box that is the difference? Thanks!

Maybe someone recalls having the same issue, or perhaps have seen/bought second-had
sets with the stickered containers matching this pattern?
I wonder if this is just a freak accident and no alternate variant is needed
in the inventory, or we do actually need to add the variant. If this has happened
before - there might be used sets floating around that are 'invalid/incomplete'
due to this.
Additionally. The 2006 variant (10152-3), apparently, had some hiccups with the
production because of TLG being short on some parts? Read:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1022655
Perhaps they were short on more than one thing, resulting in shipping sets with
different counts of the sticker sheets as well?

| Several points.
Anything that thin but large sent Ground will get caught in the machines and
damaged. If sent Priority, they process it differently. But the dimensional weight
for Priority tends to kick in.
It's why I stopped selling them. Particularly a packing issue if they order
anything else but the baseplate. Add a couple of bricks and the package gets
big or you have to ship in 2 packages. Either way gets expensive for the customer.
In Shipping, macebobo writes:

It should not trigger dimensional weight if it is 18"x18"x2" = 3/8
ft³, so I am not understanding why it would be more expensive than regular GA
shipments. Please help me understand since I don't want a surprise when I
sell one.
