Today when I logged on to Bricklink, I realized that 20 years and 2 days ago,
4/20/2004 I created my account AND placed my first order. 20 years!

Thank you to Dan Jezek for designing Bricklink all those decades ago!

Thank you Bricklink for without this marketplace I would not have had a viable
business model that has worked for 20 years.

Thank you to the countless stores across the world that have provided me with
excellent service!

Thank you to the Community (both in chat & forum) for all the questions answered,
the laughs, the Pizza & Mustard wars, the long debates, the catalog adds & changes,
and a place to go to feel included.

I look forward to the next 20 years whatever they may bring.

Forever grateful,
Cass T

Welcome to the club, & enjoy the next 20!

I have done this numerous times over the years, and I continually enjoy the challenge
of doing it, so here we go again… I can’t believe it’s been so long since
the last time!

I am once again offering to create a Custom Store Logo and/or ID Card Image to
whoever would like one... I have created hundreds of these logos over the years
(see examples in the images below), and I love the challenge of making new ones.
To take advantage of this offer, all you need to do is send me a message through
Bricklink with a basic description of what you would like in a custom logo and
I will get to work—simple as that. Alternatively, if you would like a
similar design to one of the examples below, just point that out in the message
(providing me with an idea of what you’d like gives me a good starting point
to creatively build upon; because if you don’t, you’ll simply get whatever I
create at the moment—which will tend to be whatever is currently on my mind).

Just as the times I have offered this previously, I am not asking for anything
in return… while it is true that I have been offered coupons and direct payments
via PayPal for my work, I want to be clear: that is not required; it is definitely
appreciated, but it is absolutely not required...

The only thing I ask for is a little patience. When I have done this previously,
I will occasionally get flooded with requests (and it sometimes takes me a little
more time to provide a design or two for each request). Though you may not get
an immediate response, you will receive one *eventually* (I can honestly say
I have created at least a few logo options for every single individual that has
requested one)…

Note: the images below do not appear of great resolution quality; though that
is more the limitation of Bricklink for the size/format of allowable forum images;
any logos I will create for you will be a much higher resolution quality.

Life is Good.

pieces recently? Blatantly lying about the condition of an item to sell it is
pathetic yet it’s become such a common practice amongst *some* bricklink sellers.

...there, fixed it for you...

On a serious note though, I agree that there are definitely some deceptive Sellers
on Bricklink; all you can do is your best due diligence in trying to mitigate
the risks of receiving less-than-great parts when buying from someone...

Checking Seller terms, item descriptions, feedback (*especially* their responses
to any negative/neutral feedback), etc. can all potentially help you find a great
Seller; but even with all that, sometimes you will just receive something less-than-great
when buying used items, and you would hope that communicating that with a Seller
would allow them the opportunity to fix things (& that they will; because even
the best Sellers aren't perfect)...

So all I can say is, keep looking; there are definitely some great, honest Bricklink
Sellers out there (I've ordered from plenty in the last year; feel free to
check them out via my feedback to them; as I always leave it for the great Sellers
I buy from!)...

Does anyone know what type of glue would be best for repairing such parts? I
have some super glue that contains cyanoacrylate. Are there certain ingredients
that I should look for or avoid?

The point of the entire Collectors Series is not to know what's in the package
when you buy it. They just finally got to the solution that actually achieves
this.

Funny, if was a car collector and was looking for a specific Ford Mustang, would
I buy a blind container which might contain my 'last to complete my wanted
list' ?
I think I wouldn't.
It has some charm around it, but if you are keen on completing a set, you end
up spending far more money on buying the wrong items in this way.

Car collectors have experienced a similar dilemma...

At first glance, I would guess it was a clone brand & not LEGO; the colors look
a little off, it's really shiny (which is typical of clone plastics),
and I do not believe that torso or leg parts were made by LEGO... as has been
asked, do you see the LEGO logo on the neck top or legs? It doesn't necessarily
mean they are LEGO-printed (as custom printing can be done on authentic LEGO
parts), but if there is no logo, that's a dead give-away that their clone
brands right there...

Thanks guys, I just wanted to be sure. There is no Lego branding on it at all.
It's a shame. It's a nice looking minifig. I found it in a 30lb box
of Legos I purchased online.

Chris
RC

For future reference: The plural of LEGO is LEGO. I don't know where people
get the idea that it needs an 's', just putting that out there for reference.
The word 'LEGO' is always capitalized.

This is what TLG state on their official site. I would prefer it if everyone
posting on this site followed proper and official naming conventions when referring
to LEGO branded products.

As to the minifig, if there is no LEGO trademark molded into the plastic, it's
very likely to be a clone brand. That would be an otherwise nice minifig, I suggest
you drop it off to a charity donation bin or your nearest recycling center, if
they can recycle plastic toys.

Cheers ...

ghyde

I concur with the "LEGO" sentiment, and I try hard to inform others by
only using "LEGO" as intended... oh, & I have a *very* special bin
for all those clone brands (see image)

So, I have a few of these light up bricks that won't light up. Bought some
new batteries, but they still won't light up. I had a good one on hand the
does light up so I opened it up to see if there was something special about the
brick, now it won't light up.

Is there a special procedure to replace these batteries? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, for looking

Ensure that the polarity of the battery is correct.

^^This... I have replaced many of these batteries over the years; I can try to
remember to check when I get off work today, but I believe the two batteries
each need to be facing the same direction to ensure it will light up properly
(also make sure there isn't anything in the slot on the bottom of the brick--it
originally comes with a thin plastic item to preserve the batteries when it's
not being used)... also ensure you have a battery tester to make sure you aren't
adding a dead battery to it when you replace them (even the batteries you buy
them in packs brand new, some may actually be dead; I've found about 25%
of these little buggers come dead right out of a brand new pack of 25-50)...

  Hello all!

just had a tax question. California tax is very high for my orders so its takes
a little chuck out every order. Why is California not an option I can click on
when selecting a state on Sales tax in the management section of settings. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated!

You do not pay the tax, the Buyers from California do when they place an order...
the tax is collected at the time of purchase by Bricklink on behalf of the Seller;
so, it's essentially a number you see on your orders page, but it's separate
from the money paid to you as the Seller (for items & shipping)...

So the only people paying a California state tax for an order is a Buyer from
California that places an order; in other words, we California Buyers would be
paying that state tax regardless of whichever Seller we buy from...
