for some advice about selling them. What’s the best place to do it and what sort

So are you seeking the sets or selling the sets?

Selling. Typo sorry

The BL price guide can give you an idea of how to price the sets. 928 for example:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=928-1#T=P

You'll have to upgrade to a seller account first though. Since you already
have positive feedback, it won't take as long to upgrade as a brand new member.

and I believe it to be fake. It does not have LEGO or copyright symbol. If
I found it in a lot it would go in the fake bin but before I ask for a refund
from the seller I would like opinions.

If you would put that part in the fake bin, then you shouldn't be sorting
LEGO.

Normally I would brush this off but... why is it that I shouldn't be sorting
LEGO exactly?

Because I came to the forum to ask for people's help on a piece that does
not have the LEGO stamp or the copyright symbol? I can show you many examples
of fake hair/headgear that only have a number and have a different looking head
stud area.

With the influx of fake parts it seems better to be overly cautious rather than
not.

Maybe you shouldn't be replying to help threads...

1001bricks is right—MANY LEGO parts don't have the LEGO logo. Imagine if
that 3625 was a white one, and you had thrown out. Those things are rare! The
forum is replete with people asking if a part is fake because there's no
LEGO logo, and the vast majority of the time it's a legit part. It baffles
me that someone with a feedback score as good as yours doesn't know how differentiate
clones from real LEGO more thoroughly.

I realize that I care about this more than other AFOLs, but to me when a LEGO
part is thrown away, it's a mini little tragedy. Like a tiny voice crying
out in terror and then suddenly silenced.

I agree with edk and disagree with jennnifer. That inverted slope definitely
IS LEGO, and as edk said, it's an older one. It's normal for that particular
inverted slope to have those hollow studs with the thicker walls if it's
from 40+ years ago.

Are the links a problem though? How many people see an obvious spam message with
loads of links in and think it would be a good idea to follow them?

To me, the issue is that the spam exists, not that there are clickable links
in the spam. Stopping any clickable links doesn't solve the spam issue.

Luckily, enough people report them and forum moderators act quickly once they
are reported reported and then the spam disappears if you have the hide cancelled
posts setting selected.

My thought was that if a new user tries to post a message with a URL, BL would
give the user an error (URLs/links not allowed in messages from new members,
or something like that,) and the message would not go through at all. If a spammer
found that he could not post a message with a link, he would give up very soon
(hopefully,) and leave.

You're entirely right about BL members not being dumb enough to click on
obviously bogus links (which makes me wonder why the spammers go to the trouble
of posting them anyway.) I also agree with you that the moderators do a good
job of cancelling the spam posts.

Those are all legitimate parts. I just don't get the hyper paranoia buyers
have nowadays about counterfeit parts. The forum is replete with posts about
parts that people think might be fake because they don't match 100% with
the parts they have from the past few years. As time goes on LEGO makes new
molds and makes tiny changes on most iterations of parts. I suppose the Chinese
clones are to blame. Sigh...

They have no feedback so they are new to the site, and I want them to have a
good experience but I don’t know what to do.

Should I leave negative feedback? I also have other user who ordered and didn’t
mark as received, but he had all good feedback. But I checked the stores that
he ordered from and he didn’t leave them any feedback ether.

What can I do?

Wait—are you asking if you should leave negative feedback for a buyer who paid
for his order just because he didn't leave feedback for you and didn't
mark the order as received/complete? If that's the case, then NO
you should NOT leave negative feedback.

Leaving feedback is nice, but it's optional, as is marking orders as received
or complete. One of the things you should understand as a seller is that not
all buyers leave feedback. (That's not just here on Bricklink; it's
the same on other sites that use feedback.) Since you've already messaged
the buyer about it, I would just leave it at that.

to happen.

If you part out a set, it will warn you but not try to combine the lots. You
have to do that manually. Not consolidating lots is often done by sellers with
smaller storage areas, where they bag up the parts from X copies of that set,
then use the set box as the storage location. That is, they don't have a
huge storage system, one part per location. It cuts down massively on storage
volume, as you might have 100 lots in the set box. It takes longer to pick as
each part doesn't have its own location, but much more efficient for storage
of smaller lots. Of course, they could locate the other similar lot in another
set and combine them but that is more work. It can also happen if you find there
is say 10x a part and pre-bag it to sell as a fixed quantity of 10. Then you
get that part again at a later date but this time 15x, and you pre-bag it as
15 qty.

What a ridiculous excuse. Those sellers with a bunch of lots for each parts
go straight to my least favorite list, and they completely deserve it.

Is there an easy way to do that?

Yes! Or at least there's an easy way to find all of the duplicate
lots in your store. Bricklink has a search function in the My Store Inventory
page (https://www.bricklink.com/inventory.asp) on the right side. Check the
"Non-Unique" box and then the Go! button. It will show you all of the
duplicate lots in your store.

The mystery to me is how sellers let that happen in the first place. When you
add a lot of something that you already have in your store, Bricklink warns you

Opening a store is the only way you're allowed to sell here. There's
nothing wrong with opening a store and only selling one set though. After that,
if you want to leave your store empty, you can.

That sucks that your first purchase on Bricklink turned out so poorly. Maybe
the seller is in the hospital, or maybe he went on a Christmas vacation for December
and forgot to close his store. Whatever the reason, you were totally justified
to start an NSS after 2 weeks of nothing from the seller.

At this point it is possible but unlikely that the seller is ever going to fulfill
your order, so I think that buying the MFs from a different store is your best
option.

My guess is drivers for the motherboard. If that does not count as an application,
then my guess is .NET Framework.

I can't say for sure, but I imagine the buyer probably paid with an e-check.
When someone pays with PayPal, and the funds in their PayPal account don't
cover the amount, he can transfer funds from a linked bank account. That transfer
is not instantaneous. It usually takes about 3 business days.

Keychains don't necessarily reflect a configuration that came in sets, but

enough time to produce other color hands for an early production run.

I'm used to keychain MFs having the chain connected at the top of their heads.
Where does that one connect?

David

The chain is attached to the back of the head. That was one of the early styles:
https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4860628
One other thought that occurs to me is that the Jim Spaceborn comics also depict
space figures as having yellow hands, but the only thing is that it seems like
the keychains predate the comics.

Thanks for that great photo reference! When I saw the yellow hands in Jim Spaceborn,
I just assumed that they had taken their gloves off.

I have bricks from that era and the logo is completely wrong.
These letters are more square and blocky compared to the lettering of the time

"Completely wrong" would be if it said something besides LEGO.

The 1960's and 70's were a time of inconsistent logo fonts on studs.
The red one you have is older than the white one you compared it to, but it's
definitely LEGO.

It’s also not quite the same red as regular Lego bricks.
If you know what this is let me know.

That is definitely LEGO. It's just old; from the 1970's or earlier.

Thanks, F.J.

The only Classic Space torso to come with yellow hands is the all yellow one.
Some kids just love swapping hands for some reason. Torsos from Classic Space
sets always came with hands that matched the arms and torsos.

It's been over 3 months since it came on the market :o

It's a very large set, so if someone is working on the inventory, it will
take a while.

If you have the set, you can add the inventory here:

Hi all, I have noticed lately as a buyer and seller that the system is generating
a request for an invoice to be created rather than letting the person purchase
directly via PayPal. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!

The two aren't mutually exclusive. A seller can create an invoice, and the
buyer can then use the Pay Onsite method to pay through PayPal.

At what point in the buying process do you see the request for an invoice?

David

The buyer requests to purchase the item and instead of being sent to paypal to
finish the process, the buyer is sent a notice that an invoice will be generated
for the purchase by the seller.

That's normal. Once the seller creates an invoice and sends it to the buyer,
the buyer can click the Pay button to pay through PayPal.

There are 2 main ways that a buyer can be invoiced:
1. The store the buyer makes a purchase from has Instant Checkout. In that case,
the seller has set up shipping options to automatically assign a cost to orders,
so the invoice is there right away, and the buyer can pay right after he clicks
the Submit Order button.
2. The store does not have Instant Checkout (or the particular order does not
qualify for it.) In that case, the seller must manually create an invoice for
the buyer. Once the buyer has it, he can pay through PayPal.

In both scenarios the buyer pays through PayPal. In the Instant Checkout method,
the order placement and payment are one right after the other and thus seem like
one process, whereas in the manual invoice method, the order is placed, and the
length of time between that and payment is dependent on the speed of the seller
sending an invoice and then the speed of the buyer paying for the order.

Hope this helps,
David

  Hello Bricklinkers!

I am wondering if I am missing a spot to put in "My Collection" section
of instruction booklets.
I love that you can put in all your sets on a list to look them over.

If it is not already a section that I can't find, I think a spot for instruction
books in the "My Collection" section would be awesome.
As a collector/buyer who can't always remember what they have this would
help to not buy more then I need.

It appears that you can add sets to My Collection, but not instructions or
boxes. Now here's the funny part. Let's say you go to a set in the
BL catalog that has both instructions and a box. To the right of the set picture
there are 3 main info blocks: My Store Inventory, My Wanted List and My Collection.
Now if you click on the Instructions Entry link for that set, the My Collection
info block disappears, but it's there for just a split second. It's
the same if you go to the Original Box Entry link. Try picking a set and clicking
back and forth between the Instructions Entry link and the Original Box Entry
link. The My Collection info block will show up in both, but if you blink, you
miss it.

Is it because BL has plans to implement the My Collection feature for instructions
and boxes in the future? Is it just a brief visual effect from the system starting
to load something that doesn't connect to anything? Is it just something
I see on my browser (Firefox) that some other users aren't going to see?
I'm not sure, but it's there.

Since you're in Minnesota, you could try asking someone in TwinLUG.

Of course, you'll have to buy from at least 1 store and get a positive feedback
in order to become a seller.

It is fairly easy to get ahold of Customer Service. They have a published phone
number.

Yes of course, but if you call them and ask for element IDs of parts that have
never been in sets, I imagine you're not going to get very far before the
person on the other end starts wondering why on earth you'd want that information.
I'm not saying it couldn't happen, it just sounds very odd.

As far as pricing, when a new item is added to the catalog, and you have the
