That is the problem using PayPal for very small payments. The small transfer
has the same infrastructure costs as a large one hence the fixed fee part of
the costs. There is also the micropayments system for people that regularly take
small payments.

The thing is, infrastructure costs can't possibly be that high. My bank allows
me to do hundreds or thousands of transactions per day without charging anything
extra. It's all automated, and of course there are costs involved in anything.
Just not a lot, or the business is very badly managed.

If you would like to get into a more positive mood, just upload a few black 1x1
plates and bricks, and you'll be sure to capture the audience.

I find getting one is even more disheartening. You know the part has been in
the database long enough for someone to add it to their list, but only one.

Although if you save up notifications and do them less frequently then you are
more likely to get larger numbers and also sales on the back of them. If BL tells
a buyer a single part is available then they are unlikely to bother going to
you store. If someone gets multiple notifications for single parts from a store
in a short period of time if they notify too frequently, the store is likely
to be ignored or even worse least favourited.

It's better now than two hours ago but some parts of the sites are still
much slower than yesterday, for example, adding new items to inventory:
https://www.bricklink.com/inventory_add.asp?act=a&a=P

I managed to add a set after waiting for some time (like a minute or so). But
adding a part takes so long it's no use.

But it worrying that I'm not even allowed to sell them.

Sorry, just missed it: they're still legal to sell, when genuine.

This is not how BrickLink should be managed. It should be a place for AFOLs,
and of course for those just looking for a set or spare brick.

Please, please don't make this an environment based on suspicion, assuming
that we're all just looking for the last cent/penny/nickel to add to our
fortune.

Well, there's some discussion over here... Just to inform: I respect the
admins, and as Russell mentioned in this thread, the exact reason turned out
to be that I was offering PayPal Friends and Family as an option. Because I think
otherwise is just a waste of money. If something goes wrong with a shipment
I'll need to pay myself anyway.
Anyway, I won't be giving it as an option anymore, and my store was quickly
reopened by the help desk.
Still the feeling remains that I don't know where it will end. Hopefully
it will stay positive for sellers and buyers alike.

Are you upset because you are not guilty or because you don't think you should
have been caught? Did they specify a specific behavior or just give you a general
category?

I,m upset, because I'm not guilty, but mostly because it just feels control
freaky. There should a solid ground to intervene. Anyway, I'll see what they
say. Maybe the suspension is undeliberate, and the worries are in vain.

Grrr

I am seriously considering to cancel the PayPal payment option in my store. Of
course that will discourage a lot of sales outside EU, but there are plenty of
other options if someone would like to buy.
PayPal deserves to go bankrupt, with their shameless greed.
First you pay a fixed fee, then 3.5%, then when there is a currency conversion
involved it's another 4%. Just for transferring money. That's free, or
almost free, with most banks.

Since I live in the Netherlands, I usually use a Revolut bank account (with a
debit card, everything for free) to exchange currencies, such as paying my BrickLink
fees, that are in US$. Highly recommended!
As a seller, PayPal doesn't help you in case of problems.

  Dear BrickLink Sellers,

Over the past several months, we’ve seen a variety of Transparent and Glow-In-Dark
minifigures flood the market. We have determined these to be illegitimate LEGO
items, despite the fact that many of them are imprinted with the LEGO logo.

Of particular note are the Darth Vader minifigures, Batman, and other superheroes.

We will start removing these listings this week, both from the custom items section
and from listings under catalog entries. This includes whole minifigures and
minifigure parts. For those of you who regularly file Problem Item For Sale reports,
please add these to the things you screen for.

Thank you,

The BrickLink Team

Okay, well, fair enough. I once bought two trans-purple Batman cowls, one to
keep, and one to sell. Still it was very rare as far as I can see, not exactly
flooding the market.
Good to know they are actually genuine (which was obvious from the parts), albeit
not legitimate.

That is of course a possibility, but I am pretty confident that the 5000 mark
for five sets will be reached. Otherwise, initially the number could be limited
to one copy, allowing additional purchases after some time, should there be copies
still available.
Looking at previous GWP's and other items, such as Winnie the Pooh prints
and coins, the demand is almost structurally underestimated, it seems. As a fan,
I am 99.99999 % sure that the castle will sell out.

In LEGO, peregrinator writes:
What if allowing people to pre-order multiple sets is what ultimately allows
the project to be crowdfunded, and if a set were limited to one per buyer, perhaps
it wouldn't be produced at all?

In LEGO, legokopen writes:
Looking forward to it, but please, please, please allow a maximum of one set
of each of the designs instead of five. There is hardly any reason for anyone
to buy multiple copies apart from reselling them for more. When supply is limited,
I definitely find facilitating scalping a bad idea, to put it mildly.

In NEWS, Admin writes:
  Dear BrickLink members,

Based on your feedback to the structure of the BrickLink Designer Program, as well as challenges related to the current Covid situation, we decided to extend the Designer program and postpone the crowdfunding start a bit. This change aims to accommodate for equal opportunities for the designers and maximize the number of designs that can achieve crowdfunding.

What is the new structure?

Instead of one round of crowdfunding, there will be three rounds. For each round, eight to ten projects will be chosen based on feasibility and part availability. The first five of these designs that are successfully crowdfunded will then go into production.

In the illustration below, you can see the difference between the old and new structure.

Will the projects I can crowdfund remain the same?

The designers are currently working hard to make sure that their projects can reach crowdfunding, and we are rooting for all of them to make it, no worries, they are well on their way! The projects available for crowdfunding will still be the ones currently in the BrickLink Designer Program.

The downside to the new structure is that some designs will be available 3-6 months later than with the old structure. On the other hand, that might make it possible for you to support all the projects you like!

When can I start pre-ordering?

Pre-ordering begins July 1st with the first round of crowdfunding. Rounds 2 and 3 will begin in September and November respectively. To see which projects will be ready for the first round of crowdfunding, please visit the BrickLink Designer Program landing page.

You can also visit the FAQ page for more information about the program.

Thank you,
The BrickLink Team

Dear Tanja,

I'd love to buy a few sets, and I feel many people would like to do so. Therefore,
I think it is very important to limit the number of sets one account (/person!)
may buy, preferably limited to one per set.
Looking at how fast even non-limited GWP's on www.lego.com are depleted,
or VIP exclusives, and the number of items that are sold on ebay or bricklink
by sellers who have multiple items, I believe that that will the most fair chance
to all of us. The instances where it would seem just for anyone to buy 5 out
of 5000 sets would seem very rare. There would be absolutely no reason to let
buyers have so much when the supply is so scarce.

Two other things: why not ship to any country worldwide? And please would you
provide printed instructions?

Best regards,

Jelle

Because you're making changes in Design Program I would like to ask if there's
a chance to remove the 5000 limit on the number of created sets.
I love everything about this initiative except the rat race factor that mentioned
limit creates.
I think some of those awesome sets will become very popular and they could run
out of stock very fast.
It would be a shame to miss the chance to order one of those wonderful builds
just because not being fast enough to purchase.

Dear Errd,

What an absolutely lovely message! I am thrilled that you love the program and
I understand the frustrations with the limited availability.

We did double the number of sets produced from the pilot we did back in 2019,
hopefully this will mean enough for everyone interrested because we are not able
to expand further unfortunately.

Fingers crossed you will be able to get the sets you would like to have.
