No, I do not agree.

What you describe below can be set on Paid payment status. If an order is PAID
you cannot add to it. Because we do this on Order status now, does not mean it
is the right way.

It is not that you cannot add to the order because the seller already packed
it, you cannot add to the order because the order is Paid for. (therefore the
block should be on payment status, not order status)

In a similar way, if you did not pay for the order, and payment status is pending,
but seller already Packed your order, you also cannot add to it. But now the
block is on the Order status.

In my opinion these are 2 different situations, where Bricklink now "misuses"
the order status for a payment status change.

In Suggestions, 1001bricks writes:

Payment and Order status are 2 different things.

Yes but no...

If an Order is Paid it must be automatically Packed (or such closed status),
so the buyer cannot add to it, and the seller cannot remove items for example.

But if FULLY refunded, it should retrieve either Pending or such.

In short, payment and order status are linked somewhere.
It's more or less how it works right now.

The problem is not that a Seller has too many statusses to choose from. The problem
is that a Payment status is used by BL within the Order status.

Order Status should be:
Pending
Processing
Processed or Packed
Shipped
Completed (if you like)
Returned
Cancelled

Payment status:
Pending
Sent
Paid or Payment received
Bounced
(Partially) Refunded

If the order was Paid through onsite Payment that should result in Paid in the
Payment Status.
Order status can then still be Pending, as I as a seller have not started processing
the order yet.

NSS should be based upon Payment status, not Order status.

I as a seller find it extremly anoying that my order status is set to Paid, and
that I cannot set it to Pending or processing without switching all kind of order
status around.

Payment and Order status are 2 different things.

In Suggestions, mbryson1 writes:
From the perspective of a very new buyer, there are too many status options available
to sellers.

In my situation, I instantly paid for an order. After a week, the seller updated
the order status from "paid" to "processing." As a result, I am unable to submit
a NSS complaint until 1 week after the seller updated the order status, even
though there has been no material change and the only action to date is my payment.
(And yes, I did reach out to the seller, but never received a response).

There is still 1 more day before the 2nd week expires, and the seller will have
the opportunity to use another of the many status options available to delay
the NSS complaint another week. I imagine this could continue and prohibit me
from ever initiating the NSS process.

My suggestion is that BrickLink change this functionality so that once an order
is "paid" a seller cannot update the status to earlier in the timeline. The
only options available after "paid" should be "packed" and "shipped." There
should be no reason for an order to be "processing," which indicates the seller
is creating an invoice, after the order has been paid.

Voted NO.

If you want your items to be shipped in a box, I believe you can ask for it.
Forcing others to pay high shipping rates (€25,95+ to US from NL iso €3,99) because
you would like to receive your items in a box seems wrong to me.

I do believe the seller should take the upmost pre-caution in packing the items,
and maybe even suggest boxed shipping in this case, but experience tells me people
do not always want to pay high shipping for better protection.

In Suggestions, chetzler writes:
I think all sellers should be required to ship their orders in corrugated cardboard
boxes. I recently received an order of 24 NEW

Part No: 59349 Name: Panel 1 x 6 x 5
*
59349 Panel 1 x 6 x 5
Parts: Panel

from a 5000+ feedback seller. All 24 of them were thrown into a Ziploc baggie
and that baggie was crammed, along with the other lots in the order, into a flimsy
bubble mailer. Well, you can imagine what the surfaces of those panels looked
like after be squished and tossed from conveyor belt to conveyor belt as they
made their way across the country before being shoved into my mailbox. If they
had been shipped in a cardboard box they wouldn't have received nearly that
amount of abuse.

Therefore I suggest we force all sellers to ship orders in cardboard boxes.
Some orders, such as one or two figs, would probably be fine in a bubble mailer,
but rules are rules and we must enforce them uniformly and without mercy. We
must protect the entire community from the few sloppy sellers that are out there.

If a buyer receives an order that is not in a cardboard box, he must send a picture
of the package (with mailing label visible) to Admin. Once Admin approves the
picture, the seller will receive a non-negotiable negative feedback. If three
such feedback are received then selling privileges are revoked.

I ship 99% of my orders in a box already, so I don't see why this would be
such a big deal.

(yes, I'm making a point but I'm not making up my experience or my store
practices)

YES PLEASE!

In Suggestions, Cyberclark writes:
Bricklink is a Global marketplace. Awesome. So let's looks like one.

Not sure if it is just the American in me, but logging in to a site and seeing
a little red Chinese flag in the corner of the site with some chinese characters
next to it, just sets off a lot of little alarm bells in my head. It reminds
me of that movie with Sandra Bullock, The Net, where there was a little hidden
symbol on a page and when you clicked on it you were taken to somewhere bad.

If I were a new user and unfamiliar with the site that little icon might make
me think twice about using the site.

Why not do this like most other Global companies do it. Have the main domain
go to a splash page of sorts. A very plain page with a Large Bricklink logo
in the middle and right below it a dropdown box that says choose your location.
Then for now they can have North America and China (the only two localizations
currently available) then as other languages are made available you can easily
add the links for those to the dropdown and users can be directed the the version
that best suits them. Also below that dropdown box have a checkbox that says
Remember this setting on my computer. Checking this box will create a cookie
file so that the next time the user comes to the site they will be auto-directed
to the proper site.

Here are some examples of other companies that use this approach:

http://www.ups.com/
http://www.fedex.com/

Option 2 - You could do what companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google and many
others do and that is route the user based on their IP address. For instance
when I go to http://www.microsoft.com I am seamlessly redirected to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx
with no interaction on my part. And then at the bottom left side of the page
they have a picture of a globe, not a US Flag mind you, with the words United
States - English after the globe. If I click on that it takes me to a page when
I can then pick a different localization if for some reason I didn't want
to be on the US site. I know though that this option can be problematic espeically
for people who may be visiting or temporarily living outside of their home country
that they may want to view the site in.

Or Option 3 - If the above 2 take too long to implement. For now just remove
the Chinese flag!! Chinese in this case is a language, you shouldn't need
a national flag to represent that. Isn't the Chinese language used by
more people than just those living in China? Plus, When you click on the link,
to come back it just says Eng? No British or US flag? So why do you feel the
need for the China National flag? Also move the link to the footer of the page,
not the header. Most of the other large sites I am looking at have it in the
footer. And most are just simple text links. Look at Amazon.com for another
example. So internet users are used to having to look for it in the footer,
if they need it. Plus in the upper right there, what happens if you add even
more localizations, are you going to have 30 flags up there in that little tiny
space?

Now I know I gave you 3 options so since they don't give us an option for
a poll in the forum it will be hard to vote on. So how about this, A yes vote
just means that Bricklink needs to look at these options and do something to
change the way localization is currently. A no vote means you are 100% happy
with the way they rolled it out so far

Just another suggestion to add to the next BL 2.0 functionality.

Please allow for item lot splitting and combining in the store inventory by the
store owner.

Combining lots is not that hard when doing a handful of lots, so this would mostly
benefit when batch lot consolidation.

The important one is to be able to split an item lot when I want to reserve a
portion of the lot to a potential buyer without having to go trough the addition
of a new item to the store.

Miro

That would be so helpfull!!

Love the idea!

When I order I would like it shipped to one, but I sell from the other.

Now I just use my store address for both, but it would be handy if it was possible.

BUT I understand how this can be mis-used by frauds, so I agree on the NO.

My store terms are very clear, if you take the time to read them.

On the other side I do feel that you should be able to cancel any order in which
the selleer is making up all sorts of extra costs that are not shown, in number,
in his or her store terms.

- that only become clear after being invoiced.

I would like to propose an extra simple step to the process of forming the contract:
-

step 1: - buyer clicks "complete order" (was submit order) - usually without
foreknowledge of invoice total (some stores, including mine make it clear but
a vast number do not)

step 2: - seller sends buyer invoice with demand for payment which now reveals
all the "extra's" that may have been hidden.

and the new step:- (ADD new "button" accept/decline)
step 3: - buyer either accepts invoice and makes payment, or declines - this
would give the buyer the option to not accept unreasonable fees.

Please consider this solution as I believe the only ones who would vote against,
would be stores that HAVE hidden fees.

"Extra work"? do bare in mind a buyer has spent some time forming the order,
very few fall thru (not one for me yet), they are only likely to pull out due
to unreasonable fees in the first place!
Having low prices and high added fees isn't the best business model for anybody.

I am aware of the demands from Germany - perhaps that would form the Global model?

Thank you Graham

I have been thinking about, and hoping for such a feature for a long time!
It takes so much effort to select all the parts from your store manually.
Only last week I had to manually remove over 150 lots in order to "pick" the
parts from my own build which were listed in my store.

I vote a big YES!

There may be an action for this that is similar and I don't know about it, but
here is my random suggestion anyway.

I operate out of two locations, one location has my personal collection (home),
and my apartment has my store. I commonly visit home and need items from my store
at my apartment. I believe it could be nice to have the ability to shop in your
own store and place an order with your self, that way you have a nice record
of everything you want to take from your own store and it would remove it from
your own store in one action. OF COURSE!! you would not be able to feedback
yourself, and this transaction would not effect the price guide, it would have
to be a separate system. For example, you build your cart in your own store,
and on the check out page select "personal order" so that your "order" is not
technically a Bricklink order. I hope this makes sense. And if something like
this exist, please let me know because I will use it like crazy!

Also consider that ideas that are good to implement are done to either correct
an issue or affect a good portion of the population. I don't think your idea
does.

you are asking for Bricklink to put something in place for the masses that could
be solved with a bit of leg work on some of the few that would require it.
