in theory, bricklink could ask the registered user for proof of their age. Not
sure if that violates any country's laws, but it would settle the matter.
It could still be a child operating a parent's account of course

In Help, Adjour writes:

BUT

I highly, highly suspect I'm talking to a child. I've reported the member
(its a new account, zero feedback) and blocked them already. They are moderately
hostile, so perhaps I'll even get a neg for this, but again, it is what it
is I guess.

But what I'm wondering is when you report for age how on earth bricklink
substantiates this
? I mean, there's no way to prove it right?

Do you just have to get a few reports of the same thing and then if it walks
and quacks like a duck its a duck?

Just curious is anyone knows or your experiences

Also Hi all, its been a while, focusing on other projects.

They are going to send me a picture of the error later.

I have never run into this before. As a seller, what would you do in this circumstance?

I do not have any helmets or minifigs with that helmet in stock. I want to treat
my customer right, however, this is a new one for me.

Any opinions welcome.

Wonder what they would have done had they ordered directly from lego? or toys
r us, or walmart.

I think most people would just go to Lego. I don't think someone would hold
Walmart responsible for a printing error

I hope I'm not unique. I hope I'm not the only one that is willing to
take responsibility for a decision I made knowing full well.

I know you're a big time seller, but if you, as a buyer, made the decision
to ask a seller just to put something in the mail without tracking, just because
it wasn't worth it to buy with the cost of tracking and they agreed. If
it didn't show up, you'd make a seller stick to the letter of the law,
and refund you?

a cheap sticker at 30 cents in a euro envelope because tracking would be 4,95
for instance. You'd make them pay you the 1,30?

Maybe you're unique then

* 99.99999% of buyers WILL complain, the hard way, PayPal or BrickLink NSS, or
sending a kind e-mail (really, it's the more often the case here anyway).

* the more and more, Sellers proposing "I dont care" or "You can
chose not to complain when not receiving" will have those terms disappearing
one way or the other.

Which is a majority of buyers want, not you apprently, you fool

PayPal will 99.99999% chances refund the buyer.

While he has paid or not insurance is neither the buyer problem or PayPal, or
the Government one.

"excuse me, we have a warrant out for your arrest, apparently, you asked
for cheap shipping and got it, it was lost and you refused to exercise your rights...
You're coming with us"

Sorry, but this is a very obsolete point of view.

Also - you forget:
* people who can't understand fine printed terms,
* terms not written in the buyer language,
* people who could but clicked too fast by error, or because it would've
been TL;DR

Again, and for the last 10 years at the minimum, this "I have the right to
take my chance to save $1 but lose $15" is completely wrong in many Countries.

The seller can decide:
* to take the risk (fine in 99.9999% of cases),
* to protect him paying for insurance,
* or to require this to be paid.

This is a strawman, you keep putting this on the seller. I can still choose
not to say "you have to reimburse me", it's almost like being responsible
(as a buyer) for my own choices is somehow criminal.

So, say you have a 30 cent sticker that you can mail to me, because it's
paper, for a euro. No tracking.
I say thanks, here's 1,30

Now, it doesn't come, lost in the mail.

It's only 1,30, so I'm not even going to mention it.

OMG, I just exercised a right not to exercise a right. wow.

This isn't about the seller tricking me, this isn't about fine print.

the seller probably would refund me, but I, as the buyer, don't have to ask
them to make that choice because I'm a big boy.

It's not the buyer concern.

Yes, ours - I mean, all the Europe at least - that's strictly illegal.

If I want someone to ship without insurance, I'm going to benefit from that
and if it doesn't work out, I'm going to hold THEM responsible for my

It's not a game, not a lotto.

Nobody pays something with the opportunity "to reveice it with 9/10 chances".

Especially when the saved amount is the more often less or far less than the
order value.

I ship too without tracking on small orders and if I, as a seller, got a message
from a buyer, I'd would be responsible.

But my reply would be as a buyer. If "I" asked for cheaper shipping
knowing it couldn't be tracked and it didn't show up, I acknowledge that
they did me a favour and it would be on me.

Now, would I love for my buyers to feel the same way, sure, but the idea that
I can have a right (to get my product) that I have no choice but to enforce is
silly..

In Help, legomalego writes:

Have had sellers refuse to make exceptions, still bought.

So, you can't be sure buyer has even seen or thought at the risk he's

No, distant selling isn't a game anymore; just talk about this with PayPal,

So, you think paypal will tell me I "have to get my money back"?

All this would do is dry up the sellers willing to ship to save me money

A few months ago, a placed an order from a highly rated Danish seller. The order
amounted to 434.69 DKK (roughly $62.82 USD), and was shipped February 20th. It's
been over three months and the order is nowhere to be seen (tracking was not
included on the order), and the seller and I both agree that the item was likely
lost or stolen. The seller sent photographic proof that he wrote my mailing address
correctly, so none of this is his fault.
We're considering a 50% refund as the fairest option, but I'm curious
about what you all think.
Thanks!

If I was the buyer and I wanted to save money by not having tracking, I'm
taking MY chances.
Regardless of the rights of the buyer in the sellers country, you can 'have'
a right and not exercise it.

if I'm holding the seller responsible when I'm trying to save money,
the seller may simply choose not to give me a choice in the matter the next time.
And I will always want the right to choose.

I would reply, thank you for the offer of the 50%, but I took my chances in sending
it uninsured. That's just me though

Jen, I think, the OP is talking about something like they do on ebay where paypal

Your complaint is that bricklink doesn't allow people to buy lego on credit
through paypal, like they do through ebay?

if that's a conscious rule that bricklink has decided, sounds like they are
doing it to protect sellers. If you're buying on credit, maybe that's
a you thing?

When I get an order with a part that I have described as less than ideal, I proactively
email them asking to confirm if they read the description.

If they did, great, I invoice. If they didn't, they either change or cancel.

Do it BEFORE they have a reason to complain.

What the seller needs to do when customer asks for refund of the part where he

Has someone had similar experience?

I don't want to get negative feedback for something that is not my fault.

Thank you!

Can you import them into brickstore, add average prices and then return to the

I would think logically you could show this in a BL list. I don't want to
look them up individually. like to be able to see them all at once.

case you could just open them to be on the safe side. If it’s only partially
sealed I don’t think it will drastically affect the value if you open the few
bags left and then count all the parts like for a normal used set

I get to the two sand crawler sets I have, set up wanted lists to begin inventorying

It looks like the minifigs have been removed. I don't recall who I got it
from or if I knew it was minifigless, but that's my issue.

When bags are numbered, it's easier to tell if a certain part is missing,
but there are no numbering on these bags.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could do this without opening sealed
bags. It would be great if I could avoid that.

In particular, this set has 3 brick built minifigs, so while I can see the actual
minifigs are gone, I have no idea if the droids are gone or not.

I have uploaded into my store, almost 400 items in 88 lots of baseplates. Both flat, raised and road.

This is from a bulk buy in 2013, so all baseplates are from before then.

Please feel free to have a look and see if there's anything on your wanted list.

Lol? I mean, this is serious

Did you pay recent orders with PayPal Friends & Family?
Did you change Country and/or postal address multiple times recently?
Asked the seller better prices outside BrickLink?

Apart this - I really don't understand, but wished to help.
Anyway there must be something weird I don't/can't know about.
Think at your last transactions?

Wishing you this is solved soon.

Oh shoot I have changed addresses a few times recently! I ordered parts for some
stuff directly to friends in the US (I'm in Canada). Figured it's more
logical to get the stuff sent to them directly vs getting it to me and then me
mailing them. Why would the address change get my buyer privileges provoked?
Is it against TOS?

And I definitely wouldn't have done it had their been any sort of warning
of this happening :'

false or misleading information in regard to paypal may simply be "this is a
friends and family payment" when they know it's for a sale.

I don't think they have any interest in policing anti-vaxxers who spread

In your experience as a “mostly former buyer”, how fast would you leave a store
that was going to charge you $6-7 for a box, packing supplies, PayPal charges
(which you can’t charge in North America) and time to go to the post office ?

Probably pretty fast

Factor in your costs to the cost of the set, as most people do.

In Shipping, SDF_Bricks writes:
I'm mostly a buyer on here, but lately started selling some of my sets.
I'd like to keep the extra charges to a minimum, and these includ:
1. Packing Supplies
2. Now BL charges Sales Taxes
3. Shipping
4. PayPal charges

What is reasonable to charge the buyer and what is not? Example:
1. For a typical sealed box, I buy a box from Staples and add bubble wrap and
tape, the cost is easily $6-7.
2. Paypal fees have gone higher lately.
3. Shipping, I often get 2 quotes (USPS/UPS), but that takes time to go to the
post office, get the item weighed ... etc.
4. Any way around sales taxes? (This is a hobby, not a business)

Any input is appreciated

Price vs eBay: eBay has higher seller fees so most likely their purchase prices
are higher to account for the fees
Integrity: eBay has no rule against fake Lego, bricklink does.
You have a global market with bricklink and a very local market with Facebook.
More likely to be scammed on Facebook.

Lastly, I’d rather have fees go to Lego (via bricklink) than eBay

I've never done shameless (or shameful) self promotion, but I'm going
to give it a try.

I've done my first wave of sorting (category) and I'm doing the counting
and sub-sorting now on what was about 1000 kg of parts.

This was bought in 2009 or so and just never got traction, but I've done
the
bricks
plates
baseplates
slopes
bionicle

and I'm just doing the technic while my wife handles the minifigs.

I'm not putting them live until they all are ready, so maybe a couple of
weeks, but I am going to let those that subscribe to my store have advanced notice
by at least a day before wanted lists go out.

My hope is that it will be close to 300,000 parts (or more).

If older stuff is on your wanted list, maybe click to receive updates from my
store.

Using rebrickable as an idea (again, only uploaded plates, slopes, bricks and
baseplates), I have 70+% of 30 or so Castle sets, space sets (not as high a %
complete because I haven't done wedges or modified stuff yet) and a fair
number of pirate sets.

if you're super curious about a specific set, I can check my rebrickable
file for you.

the bin which I sold a few years ago. ( I remember having a 2014 Grand Inquisitor
in there too! 😕

I could guess but probably never be certain. I can say that I 100% remember
getting this set:

Set No: 6276 Name: Eldorado Fortress
*
6276-1 (Inv) Eldorado Fortress
462 Parts, 8 Minifigures, 1989
Sets: Pirates: Pirates I: Imperial Soldiers

I was completely blown away by how huge and amazing it was, that was a special
Christmas. Honestly makes me wonder if I am spoiling my kids now.

I dug out all the parts about 10 years ago and put it together again, I kind
of want to do a search for it again. Its one of those sets (along with the forestmen
ones) that really just bring me back.

A rather large domestic ($50 USD) order was confirmed by a completely new buyer,

pending order". Bricklink says that buyer remorse or finding cheaper prices is
not a valid reason for canceling this order, and this is probably the case here,
but I also do not want to risk receiving negative feedback and ruin my 100% seller

Thank you.

I know I can go through the catalog, pick a torso, find out what parts it uses

Rebrickable will take all your bricks and tell you what sets you build, I just

A price for a near complete set minus the instructions probably is close to the
complete price, minus the cost of the instructions.

In Price Guide, funshine writes:

What would the price point be for it in its current state without the missing
pieces and what do you think the price point would be if I were to find the missing
pieces but not the box and instructions?

But actually, I don't have to charge tax to USA buyers and that's legal
cause I'm in Canada. I work for a 50 year old company of sporting goods.
We only sell to Canada and USA. When a USA buyer buys from the website, they
are NEVER charged taxes and can check out with the purchase price and shipping
is the only thing added. We don't charge taxes and leave it to the boarder
and the buyer to pay the taxes if it's needed.

Dosnt the buyer pay the tax need thru bricklink now tho. Even tho the seller
isn’t required to collect it bricklink now is required to and as such the buyer
has to pay bricklink whenever they purchase thru bricklink (or any site that
deals in sales volume over x amount of dollars) so technically you wouldn’t be
collecting the sales tax but bricklink would on behalf of the buyer.

Yes maybe your right... But can't a BrickLink admin tell us about these
things and help their customers, (Us Sellers who pay their bills.), what we
need to change to make it all work out???
I'm afraid to use PayPal now because of sellers being scammed and screwed
by buyers who lie and PayPal gives them their money back and the seller loses
the item and shipping!!!

I do agree that for parties involved there should be better info given. As for
PayPal I’ve used it for about 7.5k transactions and haven’t been scammed once
yet. We typically only hear of the horror stores but buyers can file claims pretty
much any way they pay. I’ve actually had someone try to scam me on PayPal but
PayPal actually stepped in and protected me from the buyer and I didn’t have
to give any refunds

Yes I have a great reputation with PayPal and they have always sided with me...
but I shouldn't have to fight, worry and stress about that stuff. So it's
easier for my life to just not. I don't have to sell to USA either. And
Canada post already killed my overseas business cause of increased prices. 😔

You should see if you have a chit chats near you. If you use them you can ship
stuff fully tracked overseas for as little as $10 to some countries

Bricklink is in the US though, and that's where the transaction takes place.

Your choices seem to be, ship to the US and allow them to tax their citizens
based on their laws, or don't ship to the US..

eBay has started collecting tax on Canadian purchases as well, so I'm sure
Bricklink is not far behind.

I also have a NPB against this teenager who shouldn't be allowed on this
site. Then their negative feedback will be removed!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

It is possible that the post's that say we will work something out because
you don't accept PayPal set off a red flag that you might , I said might,
be circumventing BL's fees. I am not accusing you, but it gives the impression
that you might be making deals based on orders on BL that are collected outside
of BL.

Oh yes I see what you mean. Never had a deal outside of here but I wish I could
sell to other states that are blocked from my store without that auto payment
thing.
Thanks,
James

As I put on your facebook post, I suspect the reason for your suspension is that
you say you're ok shipping to the US, but advertised that because you don't
take paypal, they would be avoiding the tax.

Bricklink can't allow users to break a law in a country that bricklink operates
in.

If it's cause of a USA teenager who bought from my store and then said I
was a scammer cause I don't take paypal,, then this better be rectified right
away because that is allowed to not take paypal and I didn't scam anyone!!!

Can there be a list we can make, like a wanted list, to enter all our surplus
lego?
Then that list can be compared to a wanted list, so we know what we have already
in stock?
Also an action button that moves the `surplus `out of stock, to the wanted list.

Can’t you just put it in your stockroom, then go to inventory and match it against
your wanted list?

You're no doubt right. But although costly, I've better to do with my
limited time. Which kinda feels good I'm getting to the money's not
so important stage in my life, I guess.

I got to that stage too fortunately.
In 2017, I was packaged out, passively tried to find a job, but didn't.

I sold my house, moved to my cottage on a river. Then my spouse and I bought
a home in Madeira Portugal to spend winters at. We had a "is this coming to
Madeira?" contest and I ended up selling a lot of my collectibles including a
bunch of brand new Lego sets to help with the down payment and renovations.

Eventually we will rent it out when we are not there, until we move.
Now, I sit in a small but amazing cottage and just sort bulk lego with my dogs.

I have about 30 wanted lists going, it may have a single extra step, but it works
pretty well for me

Yes, but in a shop as the OP said, this "bought" will still be visible.
Unless you uncheck it manually every time.
So it doesn't change anything.

Iban offers absolutely no protection if you don't send the items, correct
?

In Feedback, Scubacarrot writes:
So this buyer was demanding to use paypal which i do not allow for people in
the netherlands, as it costs more for the same thing, as well as several bad
experiences, credit card thieves etc. I send him a message saying they can pay
by IBAN, or I can cancel the order no problem.

He or she insists to pay with paypal, so I cancel the order and give feedback
that the seller refuses to use the offered payment method, and now gives me negative
feedback in retalition also lying that I would be rude.

Reading up a bit it seems the best way to deal with this in the future is NPB
instead of cancelling? This doesn't seem very seller friendly...

How big do you think the chances are that my feedback removal request will be
granted?

There used to be a site like this dedicated to Mega Bloks, not sure if it exists
anymore.

RebelScum.com is also for all things star wars, it's not a marketplace primarily
though.

I don’t know if I’m even allowed to ask this in this forum, but I will ask anyway.
Is there any website like bricklink for other collectibles? Like with the whole
catalog feature and you sell under the catalog entry? Would answering this be
talking about competitors websites? I’ll let the mods decide lol.

I don't know what to say regarding the bionicle and hero factory, perhaps
there was a reason they were donated.

I'd buy the missing pieces and mini-figs and sell the train as complete.

  Hello,
I am planning to re open my store after a few months of inactivity.
I have purchased a bulk lot from Goodwill and have about 11 lbs of Bionicle and
Hero Factory parts. I also have a BNSF train (set 10133) that is missing both
the minifigs and 7 parts. I am looking to sell these items but am not sure of
how to get the most of what I have.
Prices on eBay and BrickLink vary a lot and I am not sure where to sell/ and
how to price these items.

Please advise and , if you can, please make an offer on these.
