Is there a sort of limit on how these should be listed? The medium and thick
string is easy enough to untie from my experience, but when it comes to the thin
string

Part No: x77a Name: String, Cord Thin (Undetermined Length)
*
x77a String, Cord Thin (Undetermined Length)
Parts: String & Net

I have found it nearly impossible to untie this string from parts without damaging
the string.

So the question is what parts would be considered an acceptable counterpart?
There are some assemblies I imagine may not be counted as so, such as the drawbridge
string in Black Monarch's Castle (The string is tied to two pieces with various
pieces caught up in the middle) and the hook string in a few of the vintage pirate
ships (this is often strung through one of the mast segments)

I have noticed a few parts that have counterparts listed already, such as these
pieces:

Part No: 2584 Name: String Reel 2 x 2 Holder
*
2584 String Reel 2 x 2 Holder
Parts: String Reel / Winch

Part No: 73037 Name: String Reel Winch 2 x 4 x 2 (Light Gray Drum)
*
73037 String Reel Winch 2 x 4 x 2 (Light Gray Drum)
Parts: String Reel / Winch

One part that I think should be listed as a stringed counterpart would be this
one:

Part No: 2614 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Fishing Rod / Pole, 12L
*
2614 Minifigure, Utensil Fishing Rod / Pole, 12L
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil

There are two strings that come with this set, a shorter string for the fishing pole and a longer one for the crane. Judging from the information in the above two links I believe these two lengths are correct for this set, however I do not own it new and have no further evidence of the length of the actual length of the two strings. If anyone owns this set new and could confirm, it would be appreciated.

I actually have the set () but I got it when I was 4 or 5 years old and played
a lot with it at that time so I cannot guarantee that my parts are still original.
The short string has been replaced many years ago but I just checked the long
string as that seems to be original and it has a lengh of about 77cm.

Awesome! Thank for your help, I appreciate it. I received the set used recently
and both the fishing pole and the crane winch are missing, so here I am figuring
out the lengths hehe. I will get it back 100%

I always wanted some of these diver sets when I was a kid, the one I had was
Shark Attack with the 3 sharks

Those lenghs on peeron are in studs, not in cm.
The short string is shown in the instructions with a lengh of 20cm.

The long string is most likely

Part No: x77ac75 Name: String, Cord Thin 75cm
*
x77ac75 String, Cord Thin 75cm
Parts: String & Net
as this part has already been confirmed in several other Divers sets.

Oh no! My mistake, I will delete this request and submit a new one. Thank you
for pointing that out.

*
6559-1 (Inv) Deep Sea Bounty
322 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1997
Sets: Town: Divers

Cut down to approx. 15cm and 85cm lengths (fishing rod + crane)

Part No: x77ac100 Name: String, Cord Thin 100cm
*
x77ac100 String, Cord Thin 100cm
Parts: String & Net

Set No: 6266 Name: Cannon Cove
*
6266-1 (Inv) Cannon Cove
91 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1993
Sets: Pirates: Pirates I: Imperial Guards

Smallest length available for anchor line.

Part No: x77ac15 Name: String, Cord Thin 15cm
*
x77ac15 String, Cord Thin 15cm
Parts: String & Net

  Does anyone know how long the string is that comes in these sets? If anyone does
that would be very helpful, thank you.

Recommend a longer line and trimming it to size(s). 200cm is currently cheaper
on BrickLink than the 150cm and 122cm lengths. Cheers

Part No: x77ac200 Name: String, Cord Thin 200cm
*
x77ac200 String, Cord Thin 200cm
Parts: String & Net

Thank you for the reply I really appreciate it! I will probably get the 200cm
for these 2 sets, thanks for mentioning it.

Set 6559 should have two strings (not one that needs to be cut).
See unboxing here:
https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2128927
(and following images)

Peeron has lenghs for them: http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6559-1

Thanks for this! I'm going to submit a request to add these strings in the
approximate length listed on peeron. Maybe someday it can be confirmed by someone
who owns it new

  I recently got a Flying Time Vessel in a lot, and it is all glued together! The
glue does seem particularly strong, as much of the set has come apart on its
own and I see no broken pieces, it's also possible to scrape and pull off
bits of glue from some of the pieces.

I was thinking of trying hot water or alcohol, but thought I would first ask
here if anyone has any sure fire methods for getting glue off of parts.

Well.....seems only -some- of the parts used that mild adhesive, a lot of the
ship is actually glued with something far more hardcore. I had to throw it out

I did manage to salvage a few parts out of it though, mostly the technic pieces
and dragon arms from the front and such. At least it wasn't a more valuable
set!

Thanks for all the tips I'll try cleaning it up soon with hot water first!
