Set No: 2551 Name: Grandma's Kitchen

2551-1 (Inv) Grandma's Kitchen
38 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1992
Sets: DUPLO: Playhouse

* Change 2 Part {Pink to Light Pink} 3808 Duplo Tile, Modified 2 x 4 x 1/3 (Thin) Half Circle with 2 Studs
* Change 2 Part {Pink to Light Pink} 4121 Duplo Tile, Modified 2 x 4 x 1/3 (Thin) with 4 Center Studs

Comments from Submitter:
I unsealed this set a few months ago, but still have all or almost all the pieces. I will take pics of these pieces soon.

We have not split the pink color. That is classic paradisa pink, not Light Pink.

Why was the cloth part moved back? There is no Light Pink color.
56 Light Pink was cleared out to make room for Paradisa Pink/17 Rose. Sellers
already list that color under BL Light Pink.

The main issue is that there is no clear dividing line in the inventory system
between early pink and middle pink. So we would end up with whole inventories
of Paradisa sets where the pink could be either one.

We have that situation in the 2003-2004 color change (Light Gray to Light Bluish
Gray) and those inventories are still compromised, meaning that to accurately
represent the two colors, we would have to have hundreds of alternate lines in
the inventory, which in some cases would nearly double the size.

Until we have a better way of handling alternate colors, we will need to hold
off on separating the early and middle pink.

The Light Pink changes so far were allowed because we found the existing colors
to be in error or there was a closer color. It wasn't because we were trying
to clear out the Light Pink color.

As a company, we actually did a study several years ago to see if people could
recognize the difference between the two colors, and we also collected a lot
of possible names from the public for the new color. So we were definitely prepping
to split the color, but then we ran into the inventory issue.

If you have an idea on how we could solve this, please share it with us.

Our BrickLink team may be overworked at the moment

Moment is a kind way to represent what... years?

Sorry Russell, but while we're 1001% faithful and grateful to BrickLink -
and you in particular, Russell (who has done here far more and better than many
others) - I still have what 5 tickets never ever answered (some 2+ years), and
2 posts in forum about an important subject - same, zero zilch reply.

We've also no clue what the devs do on BrickLink - the Roadmap being incomplete
as per what you said one day in forum, and of course I'm not talking about
internal things that we don't care neither have to know about, but a simple
log?

The other day there was 100 posts about font changed, for some and others.
A simple line in log could have helped "Testing this font change, effects may
vary bla."

Please please please - bring us a working ticket system, and a log of changes.

Thank you!

We are in the process of building a better system but it is a long, slow process.
In the meantime we have hired multiple people for our Help Desk and they will
be starting next week. So better times are ahead!

Many of the things that occupy our time these days are having to do with compliance
- the font issue was just such a thing. We have a period of time to get it done,
and it must be done.

I just found out that I have a few items (mostly instructions) in my shop that
qualified for instant checkout in the past, but do now show up when searching
for "instant checkout unavailable"

The problem is that these lots DO have weight and dimension in the catalog,
but I have to set custom dimensions (even the exact same dimensions from
the catalog will do) to have the lot qualify for instant checkout.
I can't find any difference to other lots/instructions that work perfectly
fine with the catalog supplied weight and dimensions:

Here are two examples with weight and dimension in the catalog and both are "volume
bound". One is working fine, the other not so much:

The issue is that the one from the first link:

Set No: 7021 Name: Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armoured Ofnir Dragon
*
7021-1 (Inv) Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armoured Ofnir Dragon
487 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2006
Sets: Vikings
has packing dimensions entered for the instructions, whereas the second one does
not:

Set No: 7415 Name: Aero Nomad
*
7415-1 (Inv) Aero Nomad
111 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 5 Gear, 2003
Sets: Adventurers: Orient Expedition

For the second one, packing dimensions are calculated by an algorithm, based
on the size of the set/box:
Largest side x next largest side x 1.0 cm.

To fix this problem, please add dimensions to the instructions entry through
the catalog entry form:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=S

This is one of the things we will be tackling in Packing Dimensions Phase 3.

  All -

Please take a moment to look at the list of the latest round of catalog movements:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2541

They were originally planned to be completed on October 1, but were postponed
to November 1. As of today, all of the items on the list have been officially
moved.

The latest changes included more items moving from the Gear section into the
Sets section. More of these are planned for the future. We hope that this continued
movement makes it easier for users to find things, since the Gear section is
not the easiest to navigate.

The next round of catalog movements is planned for May 1, 2023.

These will be tracked here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2571

Cheers,
Randy

Thank you!

Suggestion: Give member-admins additional privileges, regarding other members
buying and selling.

I'm reading the post by BrickinNick (1373076) and it occurs to me, considering
that the actual BL team/help desk is usually "useless", may it be a good idea
to give reinstatement privileges to "high ranking" member admins/moderators/whatevers?
I would not say that any reinstatement would be permanent, but perhaps the admin
could do temporary reinstatements, for 1 week periods (and/or number of orders
allowed, etc). They could also communicate directly to a help desk email their
reasoning, etc, so that the actual BL team would be informed. Or better, reinstatement
would be on a new as-of-yet unbuilt page, that has an extensive comments field
for the member to state all reasons and actions, etc, to be included in an auto-report
at the time of reinstatement.

Same could be said for selling. Maybe there's an errant NSS, selling got
revoked, and seller has contacted help desk (3 weeks ago...). The member-admin
could review and reinstate, temporarily.

I'd also suggest that BL auto-email any suspension information to the member-admins
that have this privilege. They'll get the info automatically, and so they
can review all official info, plus member direct, to make their call.

There are obviously serious situations where this wouldn't be the best. There
are many simple and/or dumb situations that could be resolved in 5 minutes, if
only the help desk, well, helped in a timely manner.

Miles

Our BrickLink team may be overworked at the moment, but they are not "useless".
Members like BrickinNick were shut down for good reasons - sometimes automatically
by the system, but more often than not, by one of our administrators. These are
the same administrators that have the ability to reinstate the account. So we
are very aware in most cases of suspended accounts, because we were the ones
that did the suspending.

Sometimes the reasons cannot be disclosed, due to fraud prevention. Many times
we use "Preventive action" to shield the true nature of the probem from public
view to protect the member. Sometimes we even close an account softly to avoid
any detection of a problem from the outside.

But Forum threads typically contain only part of the story. We are tempted to
block people's Forum access when they are shut down, but so far we have felt
it is better not to take away their ability to complain about such discipline.

As for your idea of having the community help out, we cannot give our CEPs privilege
over other members' accounts. To have privilege over BrickLink accounts,
one must be a BrickLink employee and be part of our administrative team.
