I list all my lego on customs forms as "plastic toy part LOT" so I don't
have to inventory each piece

I see nothing wrong with this request.

I sell mostly used and have never had this complaint.

I also use LOTS of packing material. I get many positive comments about it which
leads me to believe that other sellers skimp on it. I know I personally have
gotten many orders where I'm shocked the items are undamaged.

Perhaps examine your shipping practices in regards to padding.

What is your BrickLink rule of thumb to organizing inventory and pulling orders?

I've heard that sorting by parts not color is a good one. Another is cutting/taping
your own boxes to save on shipping. And a lot of pros and cons to setting a minimum
price/lots. My sub-query would be; are there any slow sellers that you
leave in the odd parts bin, or push to the end of the queue (of listing parts)?
Lastly, is BrickStock worth it or is Rebrickable a nice alternative?

Thanks,

How big do you want to be?

What do you want to specialize in?

Hard to answer without knowing this

Questions aside I'm guessing you are buying based on price point and not
looking at feedback. These are problems that bad sellers have, its not a BrickLink
thing

These are not common issues with the better sellers, at all.

Vote with your money.

Anyway, no I don't clean bricks, I don't sell filthy ones so no need.
Occasionally I'll list something as dusty but its rare.

I would never stack bricks.

Fake.

Check that lot carefully. I find that the hips are obvious fakes but torsos/heads
etc are harder to catch. Anything super hero themed should be checked VERY carefully,

Yes there is a demand for these. Especially all from one place.

The individual dividers inside aren't so if a piece or color gets too
big I can take out a divider or move it to a large space within and don't
have to change anything. Only when I have to move it to the pull outs with the
colorful Ikea boxes then I have to change the location. I don't really have
to move things around that much. In the tackle boxes, where I have more pieces
like minifigure accessories, each compartment is given a location and usually
I don't get too many at once where they have to be moved.

I am fascinated with everyone having a different way to do the same ultimate
goal.

I basically have the same system but I use bags.

I also name my "boxes" usually after sets instead of letters and numbers just
so I don't find picking as boring.

I dunno, I've only bought sealed rando bags on ebay once or twice, and both

a change - not sure how hard this would be.

OR

B) Make a rule that ALL minifigs MUST be complete as inventoried. Otherwise
they should be listed as their component parts.

OR

C) Make a rule that ALL incomplete minifigs must have the phrase INCOMPLETE included
in the comments so that they can be excluded from searches somehow.

That's a yes from me.

I had a listing deleted once because I copy/pasted the wrong description for
like a 20 cent part or something, still annoying to have to redo it from scratch.

I actually feel bad reporting listings because of this, I usually only report
mislabeled sets.

I sold a sticker sheet once as new stating some stickers were missing (I had
seen people selling used stickers before, as in peeled off and placed on wax
paper) because I didn't understand the rules, I thought peeled off stickers
mean "used".

The buyer of course didn't read the description and wasn't happy but
understood that they didn't read.

I list them all as used now if anythings missing. I guess that's the intended
way.

Right now prices for multiple manuals in one set are messed up
because they single manuals and complete set of manuals
are treated as equal.

I think that separate entry for every single manual would be ideal.

Straw man.

People sometimes want the sprues to "complete" boxed sets. I see no reason not
to have a listing.

yeah well if the sprue ain't attached to the item it is no good when the
item still on the sprue can be bought, so your argument is pointless.

You are pleasant aren't you?

Lets start over. Hi, I don't agree with you. Respectfully.

I'm not saying I care about sprues, I don't. But people out there clearly
do so I should be considered.

Crystal

yes they care about using them by themselves in MoC's just like there were
other sprues I used in MoC's like the ones for the gold coins, but like I
said this was already tried before to get that sprue into the catalog and it
was denied. when you are on this site long enough you see many suggestions come
and go and come and go and come and go. the best suggestion given at that time
for selling them was putting them into an unsorted type lot. but that was it.

Again, no skin in this game, was just making conversation. I'm always surprised
how seriously some of this catalog stuff is taken by people.

I know I personally would just sell them on ebay if it was a big deal to me.
I usually try to work within existing frameworks rather than change them, just
my personality. I understand that others are different

NEVER find yourself with 300+ sets to restore all at once. I did this too.
It complicates the process unnecessarily. If you have a pile of 1000 parts that
contains 600 you need to finish 8 sets, you have a manageable problem. If you
have a pile of 100k parts that contains the 600 you need to finish 8 sets, you
have a long, long slog ahead of you.

You can not store all of the parts ever produced. Holding odd bits for the day
that they are needed is a bit like waiting for Godot.

Every set has one or two parts that are unusually expensive. If you can quickly
identify these and determine whether you have them, you will be able to decide
if it makes economic sense to spend even one minute restoring this version of
the set. Ditto for Minifigs.

Took the words out of my mouth. This is primarily what I do, and I don't
have 40 sets in progress, let alone 300. I usually finish one lot at a time.
If the set doesn't have the figs, I usually wont bother saving it depending
on what it is.

I try also to buy lots of similar themes, so I have easy spare parts without
having to have "everything that ever existed". I just need "most" of what was
produced 1980- 2000 in my case.

I guess none of that is helpful really to the OP's question. I personally
wouldn't bother trying to set up my situation to operate this way, I would
work on getting the number of sets I intend to sell in my possession waaay down.

  Hi,

I would like to suggest that "Date Listed" information be made available to a
seller on each "Item in Order" listed on an Order Summary. This is particularly
helpful when an entire lot has been purchased. Allow me to explain:

On several occasions, I have found the "Date Listed" information to be quite
useful when looking for a part that I am unable to locate in my inventory. For
example, when I see that I listed Part X last Tuesday, I might remember that
I put Part X in Tray Y, in preparation for storage. However, "Date Listed" information
is only available when an item is still in stock or in a stockroom. Once the
lot is sold, the information is no longer available (to the best of my knowledge).
Which puts one in an unfavorable situation if they have misplaced a part and
are on the clock for shipping an order out!

Such a feature might look something like the attached image.

Thanks for your consideration.

K

I vote yes. I've misplaced some things that I uploaded when I first began
and was figuring out storage. There's been a handful of times this info would
have been helpful.

I've said this elsewhere, it boggles my mind that buyers simply do not, can

People buy from BL with the idea that it's the same as ordering from Amazon.
"Free" shipping, delivery times of a couple days, no-questions asked returns
etc. are all now expected when ordering anything online.

I am on the Lego sub on Reddit and people there ask questions about ordering
from BL at least a couple times each week. The questions make it abundantly clear
that many new BL users do not understand that they are ordering from individuals
rather than from a giant company called BrickLink.

Thank you

You know what, you're right. I've seen the same thing on reddit and never
realized that the posters just aren't understanding its a bunch of different
sellers.
