Alright. Or the 2x4, considering the popularity of 3001 collecting.

agulus’s input in this thread has reignited a persistent and nagging thought
of mine: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1176265

It’s a valid point made by member agulus, that has unfortunately been ongoing
as an issue, in the face of contrary input towards the feedback policy.

I’ve brought it up in the past, that a neutral should be just that, neutral,
and not effect your feedback percentage number displayed, up or down.

Beyond the obvious reasons, is the fact that there are many newish buyers that
mistakenly see BL’s neutral, as neutral. Silly people Meanwhile, it continues
to result in an amount of havoc in that arena of BrickLink.

I look forward to reading your honest thoughts

  Hi all,

recently some of our parts/sets/minifigs are removed from my inventorie.

Before you would get a notification, but nowadays items are removed without further
notice.

I do understand that it is necessary to list the items correctly, but I do have
a problem with removing minifigs from the inventorie.

For example:

SW0105: Lando Calrissian, Cloud City Outfit (Smooth Hair)

We do have this minifig in stock, it is new, but the cape is missing

We do not have an option to list the minifig as NEW and INcomplete, but the minifig
IS completly new!!

I agree, a solution is needed: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1218637

Either change the way we can add this to our inventorie (like sets) or let us
list them as new! It would be incorrect if we would list them as USED, as clearly
they are NOT.

just my 2 cents,

be cool and have fun!

Again, can Bricklink please do something about the way the mininum average lot
value is explained to the buyer? I am getting many messages about it and find
myself explaining the same thing over and over. Please improve these descriptions
in the interface. Maybe by including an example, and by changing the terminology.
As is evident from many forum posts as well, many fresh buyers don't even
know what a "lot" is supposed to mean, let alone they will understand the concept
of minimum average lot value.

I agree. It's been a reoccurring expressed confusion for some time.

Start with a more concise definition of the term "lot" and it's specific
applications for both buyer and seller on BL.

I also like your idea of suggestions as examples in a popup window. Examples
tend to paint picture in our minds for a more visceral understanding, and why
we use them.

I am sorry for Axaday and the others who posted proof of change requests with
the bags sealed...

Perhaps CA will see a comeback as the base ingredient for bricks and plates.
We have been on the ABS standard since 1964. CA has it's base origins in
wood pulp and cotton fibers, both renewable.

Now this is an interesting thought...

Yeah, maybe. Perhaps a better, updated structure of the cellulose acetate chemical
formula?

You're not the first, Steve, wanting to see something along these lines implemented.
The general idea is brought to the forum from time to time, the suggestion has
merit.

Who knows if something is ever implemented at some point, perhaps a third type
of account could be created? But until it’s realized (if ever) you could simply
upgrade your current buyer account to seller. I'd venture a guess that there
are a good amount of seller account holders that have never made a sale, and
some that never intend to.

  Voted no.

Humans are imperfect, so striving for perfection is an unrealistic goal that
some people impose upon themselves. These expectations will only lead to disappointment
and suffering.

People don't shine when everything is going "right" or as planned, it is
how they handle disappointment and adversity that truly allows one the opportunity
to become better.

In the context of non-positive feedback, I think that how one addresses/handles
the situation is far more telling than the feedback itself.

Well aren't you the rebel, Tim! The question is: do you have a cause?

I've heard both sides of this argument, ad nauseam over the years! Your input
is compelling on an emotional level, but wrong in the empirical, which is where
we should try and keep feedback.

Nice catch. I am surprised that all of the diehard crazy Star Wars minifigure
collectors who freak out about every tiny little print variant never noticed this.

There are more than a few discrepancies in BL’s SW cataloging, that your so
called “diehard crazy Star Wars collectors” simply don’t “freak out about” any
longer, here anyway. Call it learned behavior.

You can't fix what you don't bring up.

You don't inspire others to help fix, if you refer to and view them as "crazies"
that "freak out" either. Maybe the one has to do with the other

Don’t get me wrong, I think today’s cat team is the best and the catalog has
never looked better, but there’s still work to be done within the SW theme. Precisely
because you are right, Lego Star Wars collectors tend to be diehard, and will
find and concern themselves with print variations and production anomalies of
all verifiable types, from 1999 to date.

So speaking generally, how much production info are the current catalog decision
makers willing to include for the serious collectors, without confusing the casual
shopper?

-popsicle

I don't believe production anomalies should be cataloged. Production anomalies
are not intended

Intended? I would say that there are unintended print variations throughout the
catalog, but intention is nearly impossible to verify, isn't it? Whether
considering them anomalies or variations. If it's an actual print variation
or intentional change in production, it's another part it would seem.

There are anomalies all over the place and in all kinds of themes.

I don't think anyone has or would claim otherwise, Randy

The Star Wars theme is not special in this regard and should not be treated differently than any other theme.

Again, obvious statements to most, save for your so called "diehard crazies"

I'm not interested in a back'n forth, Randy. Just thought I'd give
you the point of view of some of those serious Lego Star Wars collectors you've
characterized, and that I've deal with over the years.

I'm really not that concerned what is done with the catalog, these days.
But it's worth repeating to those that work so hard at it: the catalog has
never looked better!

YEP... and this is something now I see is harder because at least the Pitsco
through Education Site isn't selling the amount it used to and I WILL point
the finger at those selling the old Blue Pneumatic Tanks at Crazy markup knowing
dam well they bought these from the Pitsco Store and they were a THIRD of the
price. When I found out back in the day Pitsco had the sourcing for rare things
and finding there was NO NEED to prove you were in education I was like wow...

it once was.

My real concern is just not taking away the bricks from those who should get
it. I've seen to many times with some of the early Ideas sets where a seller
on here or other places were able to get 50 to 100 sets and people bitching that
LEGO never has them in stock. Lego obviously curbed it but there's always
someone bucking the system and honestly I'm not afraid to point it out.

I mean if I was some kind of Rebel scum myself I guess I would do it too, however This isn't Mos Eisley Spaceport and I'm no Scruffy Nerf Herder.

HAHAH I realize I may have "Stretched" some of my attempts at humor but it just
so happens I happened to have Starwars playing in the background at the time
of the original post and for some reason I just pulled some off the top Madlibs
attempt at humor. its clear I don't do stand up comedic work. probably be
boo'd off the stage of Tomatoes being pelted at me.

I take it you see yourself as a Han Solo, then? The plain speaking hero type?
And metaphorically the profit seekers here are Rebel scum?

I believe everyone is a "rebel scum" hahahah.... just kidding

So, to the part of my post that got cut in your reply: Would these specialty
bricks fall within the Educational & Dacta line?

Got a little greedy with the snips..

It appears that from whats in the wild now its an Educational/Dacta line. I would
like to see it based on if you can buy it or not free or not its at the very
least only here for Archive purposes. Selling/Buying rights should be a trigger
that BL LEGO pulls. I do realize that above statement slightly comes off different
than the original post but I'm factoring in a little what some of the Other
people posted which actually all are 100% points. I do value pushback when I
may have overlooked so maybe it does belong here but I hope the powers at be
do what they can to keep it in a way that can be less abusive than its typical
from the past.

I will just shut my mouth and I apologize if my post might be off the rails a
little. I try not to get to crazy but for some reason this just hit a nerve.

I don't think it was "off the rails" You obviously feel strongly about this
subject, and that's never a bad thing.

In any case, I enjoy your plain speak or frankness. Han Solo has always been
my favorite Star Wars character

¹ Nah, I’m strictly objective, no way I’m sneaking my opinion here

While I have no Horse in this race. I personally DO not only NOT want to see

If BL had some better management to address LEGO in the Buying side verse History
Archive I'd say it would be here for History reference without an option
to buy.

End of Line......

I will volunteer as devil's advocate I guess...
I am talking about a VERY small number of cases here, but what is to happen to
these gotten-for-free Braille bricks when the recipients no longer need or want
them? Is the gift conditional such that they cannot leave their possession? Maybe
they ought to be returned to LEGO to be redistributed, perhaps. Or maybe the
recipient has been so delighted by the experience that they find a marketplace
where they can pass them along to another deserving soul, while earning a fair
return for their time to do so. I don't know the answers, obviously.

Valid and reasonable scenario.

Not sure you needed to qualify your position with "I will volunteer as devil's
advocate I guess" and "I am talking about a VERY small number of cases here"

I understand why you did, though. I'm starting to get it myself, that the
"devil" in your devil's advocate position might be your "fair return" phrase.
I should know better; profit-bad! In some minds, anyway

And if so, will the bricks still be in the catalogue or not?
(Will it be possible to enforce a ban if they are?)

¹ Nah, I’m strictly objective, no way I’m sneaking my opinion here

While I have no Horse in this race. I personally DO not only NOT want to see
these on Bricklink but anyone SELLING them should get an Arrow to the Knee. The
Purpose of these are for Blind Children, Not so there is a Scummy market of third
party sellers making a profit and I know we have a few here that would do it.

I'm not exactly your catalog savvy type, but isn't there already an Educational
& Dacta line of LEGO for children and educators, for your "scummy market of third
party sellers" to profit from?

I'm not trying to be argumentative or sarcastic here, I actually don't
know, as I've never bought or sold anything of that line. Would these specialty
bricks fall into that line?

If BL had some better management to address LEGO in the Buying side verse History
Archive I'd say it would be here for History reference without an option
to buy.

End of Line......

What if the LEGO Group set up a program where people could support institutions
for the blind by buying these special bricks? For every brick purchased, say
25 bricks would be donated to an institution. The bricks that went to supporters
would be a reminder to them of the cause of blind people and also reminded of
the LEGO Group's role in supporting them.

Even if there weren't an official program set up, the bricks would still
serve the same sentimental purpose.

First, thanks for linking the interesting article.

It’s a good question you pose, with unique considerations.

But consider the many parents/teachers that would be able to more easily get
the item for their children, if it were made more widely available through the
marketplace.

Allowing an item into the free market shouldn’t be viewed as stealing or taking
from one particular group, but rather as opening more opportunities to get the
item, or spreading the product more widely getting it into more (little) hands.

“stealing from children?” Always try and see the better angels of our nature,
is good rule, IMHO.

When did this happen? I clicked on the change logs to the parts and they didn't

There's some get-it-done type individuals working on the catalog, now. I
don't know if this has to do with your question: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1200979

...if not, just plug it into the forum search. They are all fairly active on
the forum.

It will be approved to the catalog on its official release date of August 1.

This seems quite backwards given it is on Amazon, Walmart, and eBay...BrickLink
is only shooting the site visibility in the foot to not follow major retails
early release on this kit.

Jonathan

BrickLink has always followed the official release dates of The LEGO Group for
adding new sets, new minifigures, and new parts to the catalog regardless of
what is happening anywhere else. Before the site was owned by TLG, this was done
out of a sign of respect for the company and helped to solidify a solid relationship
between BrickLink and TLG. Now that the site *is* owned by TLG, I am quite sure
that this process will not change.

You are correct, Randy. We are currently working on a way, in fact, to make sure
that every item is released exactly on time, not early, not late. In fact, we
now have a rule about this in the Seller Terms of Service:

Items Pending Official Release:

Items may not be listed prior to their official LEGO release date, either
as custom lots or under related catalog entries.

I think Jonathan is questioning or revisiting the practice, in citing the various
competitors that currently allow for prerelease date sales. I mean, he's
been around long enough to know the practice here.

I could be wrong, guys, but it's how I read it anyway.

If he has been around long enough to know the practice here, then he should have
known to not ask for a set to be added to the catalog before its release date,
correct?

Focus on the terms "question or revisiting" Randy

Again, I could be misreading his intent.

I think you are.

The question was not "Has the catalog policy changed on adding items before their
official release date?" That would signify questioning or revisiting a policy
that has been set in stone for as long as I can remember and is even now part
of the ToS.

In citing the various and specific competitors currently allowing for the practice,
he's not asking if it's changed, but rather can it be.

Can thought be given to it, is how I read his intent.

It's understandable, he's sitting on some new exciting inventory and
is perhaps anxious to get the ball rolling with it. We've all been there.
Especially in seeing the other sites allowing for the sales.

But let's say I misunderstood, Randy. I so often do

Good night.

I wrote it off as some anomalous chemical reaction with that particular mix of

Hey, that's interesting. That finger has the nickname; pinky, here in the

Probably some Dutch immigrants (or their decendants) introduced that.

Use the "Put items on % sale" function, with the negative sign within your "My
Inventory" page (See screenshots below)

After you do that, use the "Make sale prices (and all tier prices) the base prices"
function to fix the increased pricing as base price without sale (See screenshot
below)

To summarize:

-Check the categories you'd like to increase in price, or hit the top tab
choosing your entire inventory.
-Use the "put items on % sale" function with a negative number.
-Go back and check the categories you just changed.
-Finally, use the "make sale prices the base prices" tab.

Try it with a single category with few lots, if you'd like to test it.

Good luck

Yeah, I don't think a cup and a sprue are analogous, as the sprue is a leftover
that cannot be re-used for the intended purpose. They are more like the leftovers
of a sticker sheet once the sticker(s) have been removed or cape and string
boxes that have been opened and had the parts removed. They can occasionally
be used (especially if you want a thin mirror sticker for a MOC, for example)
but are unlikely to get added to the catalogue. I haven't seen a good use
for old cape boxes, aside from storing capes or string in them.

If yes: how to find?
If no: why not?

I would have been interested in buying them when I first discovered their use
in MOCs. I had to buy new leaves instead, in the hope they would include the
sprues.

This might be one of those cases where it would be good to make an exception
and include it in the catalogue. You could try to add it and see what the catmins
think of it. Whether the sprue alone stands a chance, I don't think so, but
the 'leaves on sprue' part has precedents in the flowers, coins and keys.

I save my sprues from this plant element. I have used them here and there, but
not in great quantity. If I was still selling parts, I would have sold them.

On the flip side, the PAB cups and the BAM plastic cases are sold here. They
are in a sense a conduit in getting the part to your home, much like the sprue
on this plant piece.

Miro

Your analogy to PAB cups and BAM plastic cases (being things that hold parts)
is spot on, Miro!
Maybe the sprues could go to the gear section?

Cups can be reused as their intended purpose, a “conduit” as you put it, Miro.
A sprue can not. But that doesn't preclude the sprue from being repurposed
and resold.

Interesting discussion with interesting possibilities.

So my thoughts stand: have the mods endorse the suggestion. It's their wheelhouse.

other then Brickwilbo being on the fence (agrees it is complicated but not sure
how to fix it) have not heard from any other mods, in fact not sure who the other
mods are if any others?

I’d add Russell, as well

curious how many of those mods are still active moderating? cause noticed a couple
of posts reported were still around for a long while.

Should be all. But to what degree each are, dunno. Here are the Hall of Fame
Discussion Mods, in any case

I feel we should get a report post button added since trying to find that page
is very not user friendly.

Can you imagine the level of misuse such a convenient tab would allow for?

The Discussions Mods might have to give up their day jobs, considering the amount
of time it would take in filtering through the invalid to find the valid claims.

On the other hand, I could be wrong and if all the Discussions Mods were to call
for it, or at least back the suggestion, I’d say why not.

you forgot to mention i've seen some serious spam posts like buying fake
ID's and such and I almost gave up reporting them because finding the report
post function is not user friendly. when you have to go here:

https://www.bricklink.com/helpMain.asp

Then go here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?topicID=18

then go here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1107

just to get to here:

https://www.bricklink.com/problemMessage.asp

My suggestion is to reduce that greatly. to go straight to the last part.
