ALL users care to receive what they've ordered.
But very few are interested in 20+ years old parts.
Similarly, Latin's important, I love Latin, and History (including LEGO previous
production).
But how many are interested in Latin language, like... for every day use?
A very few.
At the contrary, how many are today interested in speaking Italian, French, Spanish,
Portuguese...?
Tons.
I participate to (or create) sets/MOCs every week.
I've never have been interested in 3068 Without Groove, or such rare and
ultra expensive version parts (half of their lots being an error or a rip off).
If I need an old version, I rebuild differently until I don't need an old
version.
People are building with LEGO, fewer are collecting - sorry to say.

You only deal in new parts of course your customers don't care if it's
a 20 year old part, they aren't looking for it. Other stores are making good
money selling used 20 year old parts that now can not be found.
You my sir are very narrow minded.

I'm not trying to throw another wrench in the works, but how can you tell

only Bionicle parts selling on BL and have grown from there so this discussion

This place already exists and has most major sellers present there with their

and has an inventory system that is straightforward and easy to understand.
|
The role of BrickLink should actually be to support *all* buyers, sellers, builders,
contributors, lurkers, etc. using the strength of the massive database of information
that has been generated by thousands of users over two decades. It would do this
by developing and building out a functional system that correctly exploits that
information instead of deciding what information to keep or get rid of. However,
we are in a situation where -- once again -- a subset of users are going
to unhappy with a site-wide decision. It is a different subset, but a subset
none-the-less. That is the reality, no matter how good the argument is to support
the decision.
The site really needs to get to a point where these decisions don't have
to be made by the site but afforded to each individual. For as long as this topic
has been discussed, the entire site could have been rebuilt from the ground up
to do it right. It is sad that we have to keep having discussions like this in
2024.
|
Amen! I pride myself on being one of the sellers that actually gets the variants
correct, this seems like 5 steps backwards instead of a step forward. Once again
Bricklink is creating work for all their sellers to save their own neck by not
investing into redeveloping their database which continues to have unexplained
errors.
Get your act together and move forward instead of backwards.

Not the size or value because it's $30K revenue (including shipping) in 4

$30k is the threshold for each individual/business. What is the threshold for
the marketplace to be considered a marketplace by the CRA? That’s that one I
was talking about.
Even if BL makes more than $30k in Canada in fees. That (possibly) just means
BL has to pay Canadian taxes on those fees. That doesn’t make BL a marketplace-for-the-CRA.

According to certain provinces any sales within their province at all. BL has
been out of compliance for a long time yet no action on their part.

As we know in Canada Letter Mail is cheap ($2.50) Packages are not ($20.00).
Is there a way to send letter mail with tracking that’s not $20.00?
Thank you
|
Yes if it fits into Lettermail, you can purchase tracking with Registered Mail
for I think $9 + tax (+ the stamp).
|
About charging the buyer; only if your terms are clear about it (like saying
that orders over $50 must ship with tracking) or give them the option to cancel.
|
My thoughts on this, as I don't have any terms, is to split the cost with
the buyer. So only $6.00 and I will give them the option to cancel.
Thank you for the suggestion and I will change my terms)

Isn't that extortion? Did they ask for tracking? You want the tracking so
pay for it...

This is only a problem if they're a US/International buyer where BrickLink
collected sales tax. If that's the case, you need to refund them and have
them use the PAY button via onsite.
If it's someone in Canada/no-marketplace tax buyer, on your order page, click
the two papers icon (Edit Order) to the left of the date and change the Payment
Status from Not Yet Paid to Paid. And you can also change the Order Status to
Paid.
To avoid this happening, create a separate email to use for either PayPal or
for BrickLink (so they're not aware of your PayPal email and can't send
it directly).

I've been sending monthly e-mails (in addition to the original e-mails I
sent to Russell at the start of this that he acknowledged). The last one I've
sent was April 5th. Their last communication to me about this topic was Friday,
Feb 17th so I've sent 2 e-mails since then to help desk with no reply.
They said that they applied in October 2022 for a GST/HST # under the normal
GST/HST regime. I'm suspecting since they're under the LEGO umbrella,
this is how/why they can do so (rather than the new marketplace way for those
operating outside of Canada).
They also said "Once the registration number has been provided to LEGO BrickLink,
Inc. we will immediately print it on commission invoices. Here’s a related FAQ
page, which will be updated if any changes happen."
Any seller who has registered for a GST/HST number knows you get it immediately,
specifically because you need to be compliant by putting it on your receipts
and have it available when customers who are taxed request your # to verify that
you're registered, etc. So I'm not sure what they mean about them waiting
for their #.
|
Would BL allow us to figure it out paying for fees for months? No, so why isn't
every Canadian store that collects GST pounding the forum with requests for their
money back. Shame them into doing something.
