My mother lives in Napa county and she had similar issues after the 2014 Napa
earthquake. We came down to her house later that morning, and as you turned
onto her street you could hear vacuum cleaners going at practically every house
on the block cleaning up the glass, etc. After that my husband went ahead and
attached her entertainment center to the wall with brackets.

As for other disasters, I lost all of my store inventory as well as my own personal
LEGO collection in the 2020 LNU Lightning Complex fires that swept through part
of Northern California and burned down our house and everything we owned. I
haven't reopened my store since then, and at this point it is doubtful I
will accumulate enough inventory to ever reopen.

Thanks for the reply! I Remember the lightening complex fires well, i'm in
Humboldt county, sorry to hear of your loss. that must be devastating! Thats
one of my biggest fears!

Hi

i was checking over some payments received from brick link buyers in my pay pal.
The breakdown of the transactions lists PayPal Fee and Partner Commission fee.
so I am assuming the partner is bricklink, Is this the sales tax they take out
and sent to the state th buye lives in? it must be because I get a seperate
brick link bil for thier percenbt of the transaction in the bicklink fee area.
Can someone confirm about the partne commision fee? just wondering ,

when do you think the new 1099 will hit? they will be from paypal not bricklink
correct?

what kinds of things can we deduct from our bl store income?

hello, not sure hoow to do this...

Buyer placed a large order, I was short 3 parts, sent message saying so, no
response, then sent invoice saying i was short 3 parts and had applyed the .67
cents credit to this invoice.
buyer is asking for a new invoice with the parts adjusted instead of a .67 cents
credit. but how can I change an invoice that has been sent ?

will i have to cancel the order and have the buyer place a new order? if so,
they may just pass on the whole thing,,,please advise

can I do an order change request on an unpaid invoice?

many thanks for your advice on this

question,

experienced sellers what is your policy on this scenario?

a new buyer placed and order and paid with pay pal,, all good so far, now buyer
placed a second order and wants to cancel the paid order.

so the pay pal fees from the first order and non refundable to me. how do you
deal with this situation?

this is a small amount transaction, but were it a large transaction, it could
mean taking a loss on any profit,
thanks for sharing your experience,

I wish I could find that original post but it appears to have been deleted for
some reason.

Thanks again for letting me have him in my life this long. He was my friend

Jennifer, I know exactly how big the empty spot in your heart is. We recently
had to say goodbye to our Zip, who gave us love and friendship for 17 years.
We were really lucky to have had her in our lives as you are to have had Buddy
in yours.

Give Chewie an extra big hug. He's probably missing Buddy too.

Hello,
I was sorting some old 2 x 4 bricks last eve and I found a white 2 x 4 with no
center supports, I know this is kind of 2 x 4 is normal but the interesting
things is this, the top left stud on the brick has the LEGO logo printed UPSIDE
DOWN. the font has an open o in lego.

I have not seen this before, is this a recognized variety of the 2 x 4 brick,
or is it an oddity?

I dont know how the brick mold were made, if each mold part that makes the studs
were screwed to the rest of the brick mold, but that is the only way I can imagine
such a invert could be created.
the underside of the brick says g-18 and pat. pend.

thanks for sharing your expertise on this.

how do YOU use the one on this website?
Do you print it out?
I wish someone would make and sell a poster sized laminated glossy color guide
that had a large example of the color visible rather than the tiny example shown
here.

Any tips that you use? I want a large poster I can hang on the wall, and actually
hold the
part up against to get the correct shade of color. Right now i basically sort
of guess by process of elimination, it does not always work, I have had to issue
refunds due to wrong shade. I know all the old colors, but now there are so so
many new shades, does Lego have such a resource they could give/ sell to brick
link?

I like the one curated by Ryan at http://ryanhowerter.net/colors.php - you can
click on a color and it links to his flickr of actual bricks in that color.

Fabulous!

so I take it that there is not one part that comes in all colors?

I was hoping to find at a color chart with all the same element in all the colors
for sale. I like the example shown here. The online computer screen version is
not so helpful to me personally,
someone could create and reproduce for sale this kind of collection. I would
want to buy one...
some of the colors I have not ever seen except online.

thanks for posting!

hello.
Here is a suggestion-
I think it would be most helpful if someone could sell a super lot color sample
of a 2 x 2 brick of each color. i would like to create a reference color charts
for personal use in my small store, i would glue, ( I know, Horrible) them to
a mat and label them, so I could quickly glance at them while listing parts.
has anyone seen such a combo listed? if not I think it would be a good seller
to those who do have bricks in most of the colors.one? I dont have the same brick
in every color, to buy them from several stores could be cost prohibitive because
of shipping..

lots new stores on bricklink would want to buy one as the color shade issue
can be daunting...
so what do you think?

love ths thread! I too have a lot of these old bricks, I sorted them out and
keep them separate, do they have different part numbers? Is there any market
for them?

really interesting subject for me. Thanks !

In Inventories, Janettoe writes:
I recently bought a Lego lot. Some of the Lego is old (1960? 1970?). The main
difference is the font used or the orientation of the writing on bricks 2x3
and larger (I have five different versions compared to present day Lego). My
question is. Can you help me determine which font/brick is from what years? It
probably doesn't make much difference but I am curious. I would like to list
them based on their age, as some buyers may want older bricks for older sets.

Here are the descriptions of the differences between each block. Left to right...
#1
Small writing, a different kind of plastic (lighter feeling and the red is lighter
red) the G is kind of squarish and there is more space between the L and E and
G in other versions 1 x 2 are hollow. Pat. Pend inside bricks

#2
Open "O" on the word Lego. Heavier plastic and the red is darker (closer to the
present day red). 1 x 2 are hollow. The light gray plates have circles on the
bottom, not waffle. Pat. Pend inside bricks.

#3
Writing is in a different direction on larger bricks (2 x 3 and larger) horizontal
vs. vertical. 1 x 2 bricks are hollow. Pat. Pend inside bricks.

#4 writing is smaller than #5, and #5 the printing is a little smaller than present
day. Pat Pend inside bricks.

#5 Printing on studs is a little larger than #4, but small than new bricks. Pat
Pend inside bricks.

#6 New brick.

what I discovered is that the little screwdrivers in the tools , that most are
expensive, and certain color are super expensive, maybe because the vacumme cleaner
ate most of them, lol!

There's no pleasant surprise quite like finding a piece that seems mundane
until you look up the price. One of my favorite examples is this one, averaging
$60 due to being exclusive to a 1997 pirate ship:

*
30033 Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Bar Frame Octagonal
Parts: Plate, Modified {Red}

I bet the majority of people coming across that piece in a pile of LEGO wouldn't
even think about being able to make $60 off it. This can be a good thread for
such people who are sorting their childhood collections, garage sale finds, etc.
and want to make some extra money or simply get excited they own a valuable piece!

What are some other sought after parts that can be easily overlooked?
