Is the quote function broken? I had a quote come in 5 days ago and I had no notification
or anything regarding it. I only knew because the buyer messaged me last night.
This is not acceptable.

Hi there,

Fortunately, the quote system is working just fine. Even if you did not receive
an email, the quote notification was displayed on your My BL page, on the My
BL hover icon in the navigation bar, and a count of all pending quotes would
have shown when you hovered over the My Store icon as well.

If you didn't receive an email notification about the quote, the email either
got sent to your spam folder or was blocked by your ISP. Please add both "blservice@bricklink.com"
and "noreply@bricklink.com" to your email contacts and safe senders list. We'd
be happy to contact your ISP to request that our domain is unblocked if you would
provide that information.

I see that everything has been worked out with the buyer and that the quote resulted
in an order, which is great!

Also on numerous occasions I've had customers tell me that they cannot checkout
after ironing out potential issues I have found out it's the site, not me.
I've lost money to this and again, this is not acceptable.

I'm sorry to hear that! The error could be caused by several different things,
many of which are seller settings that you would need to adjust yourself. It's
likely that your shipping restrictions need to be adjusted to accommodate sets
and large part assemblies.

Your ability to inventory used Lego is appalling.

Could you please clarify what you mean?

Why not work on this rather
than Brickarms? that's right. Money. If it won't make you money then
you won't bother. This is not acceptable.

Not all business decisions are that straightforward.

Can't it just 'work'? Why is everything difficult and half made?

Despite the countless hours we spend checking things in a test environment, there
are always issues that don't show up we've deployed to the live site.
We stayed in the office testing and checking the forum/helpdesk until 3am after
we deployed Instant Checkout. It's not that we aren't trying.
We are unique in that our site was coded 18 years ago and was untouched for nearly
14 years. The code is VERY fragile. I'm assuming that BO has fewer issues
for several reasons but mainly because Lawrence doesn't have to tinker with
such old/fragile code and also that their user base is significantly lower than
ours.

I'm just frustrated and the quote issue lastnight was the tipping point for
me. Fix your site.

Understandable. We WANT to fix anything that's broken on the site. It would
be super helpful if you could send specific information to the help desk the
next time you encounter a problem. The correct email address is customersupport@bricklink.com.

I definitely see your point, especially now that Instant Checkout has gone live.
I will add this as a wish in our project management software and will talk to
the team about it this week.

Thanks, relhak and Katie!

I know it's already been hashed over and over that sellers want to be able
to buy in their own store, and, for reasons I still cannot fathom, BL has refused
to allow it. But that isn't why I'm posting here.

The real problem is that I'm unable to test my store settings from a customer's
perspective. This is %$#%@# ridiculous. No store on the planet has a policy
that stops employees and management from taking items to a register and going
through check out process (and then void the sale, or abandon it before finishing).
Now this new instant check out has me setting up a system that I'm barred
from using without going to someone else's store to experience their *different*
configuration.

I guess I need to set up a shill account in violation of BL's terms just
so I can make sure my store works as I intend?

Stuart

I couldn't agree more! Yesterday, I had a buyer tell me the only shipping
option they saw in my store was "Hold Order Open". I've always had two, "Order
Is Complete" and "Hold Order Open". I didn't think too much of it, until
it happened again today. I went to try and get far enough in the checkout process
to see what options I saw for shipping options, but no such luck. I eliminated
the "Hold Order Open" option altogether. I'm hoping buyers can now see the
"Order is Complete" shipping option, or they won't be able to fully checkout.
It would be really nice to see how things work in the flesh rather than through
a friend's account, or a friendly buyer letting you know when things are
going on.

Hi tEoS,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble logging in. If you're using
a password manager, the issue is likely related to the program containing multiple
login details for BrickLink. Most password managers will save login information
for exact URLs -- since you can log in from different areas of the site,
an outdated password may have been auto-filled without your knowledge.

Examples of different URLs you can use to log in to BrickLink:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/main.page
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/login.page?
https://www.bricklink.com/regLogin.asp

If you check your password manager, you may be able to locate the old passwords
which were likely saved to specific BrickLink URLs in the past. We recently migrated
the site to HTTPS/SSL, so please be sure to also delete any BrickLink passwords
which are tied to the older URLs that start with "http" (e.g. http://www.bricklink.com/regLogin.asp).
Once the old passwords are deleted, the issue should be resolved once you log
in with your current password.

If this does not resolve the issue, please delete all saved BrickLink passwords
from your password manager. Next, complete a password reset request. The next
time you log in, be sure to select the option to remember your new password when
prompted.

I hope this helps!

Also, please add a separate suggestion for the navigation links if you wouldn't
mind.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

  1) Please fix the BL login. Multiple times pretty much every day BL tells me
that my auto-fill password and id are in error.

Sometimes I can switch to a new tab or close the browser and start it again.
Other times, I have to clear my cookies (it took 2 tries of clearing cookies
just now). When I clear my cookies for BL, I also lose all my other site prefilled
info.

None of the above is acceptable for a modern website.

2) Links: why on earth do the upper links (community, my store, my bl, etc) work
when clicked on, but do not when you right-click for a new tab? (Google Chrome)
Please fix this too.

Hi tEoS,

Thank you for the great suggestion! We will add a "Show Wanted Qty" checkbox
on the Buy page so that users will have the option to view the total quantity
of parts still needed for each of their Wanted Lists. I've heard from the
Dev Team that the addition has already been committed which means that it shouldn't
be too long before it's deployed to the live site.

Thanks again!

Please "downgrade" from the recent update to the wanted list and give us back
the number of "needed" lots (eg: those where the have field is not fulfilled).

Ideally we should be able to not only see the number of needed lots, but also
the quantity of parts still required for each wanted list.

P.S. If someone were to analyse what functions each feature offers before designing
an upgrade, I'm reasonably confident that there will be less complaints about
missing features.

Measure twice, cut once vs. measure once, cut it too short and have to start
all over.

P.P.S. Tutorials on how to use new features would also help. Maybe info/features
in each upgrade are available that aren't obvious to all of us.
