This up and down republishing activity was done ostensibly to deal with a bad
actor in the Gallery who was targeting members and their designs.

Before we developed tools to handle the abusive behavior, some members would
unpublish their designs as a way to prevent the bad actor from hitting their
model comments during the hours when the BrickLink office was closed. They would
then republish when it was "safe" and content could be reported and taken down
immediately.

Okay, so that makes sense that the design are still ‘popular.’

Is this the only user that has been republishing designs recently?

Seems not: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1357765

Thank you! There are a couple other users doing similar unpublish/republish tricks
too. It just seems manipulative to me.

Yes, it is.  And all that to have their 15min vainglory on the Studio Gallery.
I hope the devs will quickly find a simple block for that.

Thanks for any help!
Please don’t be mean. I feel like every time I ask a question, y’all get mad

The answers are in the ToS:

For the last several months, the user Bill_FM has published, unpublished, and
republished their MOCs in order to manipulate the "popular" page. For example
their Lamborghini was just "published" yesterday, yet has comments dating back
to May. That same MOC is also not even their own creation. It is the work of
the user Alex_Qwerty that Bill_FM recolored and called their own. At one point
they credited the original designer in the description, but that has been removed
in the current iteration.

My question is if publishing, unpublishing, and republishing the same MOCs multiple
times in order to garner likes and remain on the default popular page an acceptable
practice? Or is it more appropriate to allow users to see new models from many
different designers instead of the same 3-4 MOCs from a single user?

Hi, I forwarded to the admins in charge of the Gallery.  They’ll look into it.
And something may be done to prevent the gaming of the popular page….

For copyright infrigements, as explained in section 25 of the ToS, the official
way is for the author/right-holder to contact customersupport@bricklink.com …
but you may also report the member through the Problem Center (link at the bottom
of every page) with links to the infringed & infringing designs: https://www.bricklink.com/problemMember.asp

Seems you mean ‘Alternate’, not ‘Counterpart’

And you need:
— to give it an MID (‘1’ in this case as there’s no other Alternate groups yet),
— to ‘C’hange inventory item ID 979581 (the lot for the 4x 92280) to add the
‘1’ MID so the two lots are paired.

Was this on new elementary or elsewhere? This is really a bummer.

About rules of the new service:
“We have received assurance that the uncommon elements available from Bricks
& Pieces, such as unique printed pieces, will continue to be available on the
new merged platform, although their release may take slightly longer than is
currently the case.”
https://brickset.com/article/68955

But, AFAIU, concerning parts availability, there’s been delays in setting it
up and logistical problems (following COVID and the lack of containers and whatnot).

Hmm, it’s showing 11139 parts available and 12393 if I show the unvailable ones…
that’s 10% unvailable… but, of course, they are the most wanted ones (like many
animals).

Now, if they are ‘out of stock,’ that means that there’s times when they are
available….

One could wonder if some BL sellers aren’t grabbing them as soon as they are
available

(Ooh, they finally added an option to have more than 20 items per page!
Just needs a not-DUPLO filter now….)

I've found a far more economical system; it says "pick at A01-05", so you
go to columns "A", find the "01" one (the first, obviously), and pick in the
"05" (fifth) drawer.
There's a sticker on it showing "A01-05".

No LED, no wire, no power.

But you need to read.  And even if it’s not long, it’s a bit longer than seeing
a light.

So I’m not sure your system is more ‘optimal.’

Anyway, my system is way better: all in my mind, positional memory.

Now, where’s the remote control again?

In short, what you did is a very nice system for sure, but IMHO here, a bit overkill
and not really optimal for production

But, again, sincere congratulations!

Maybe it depends on the legislation about interferences… or cost savings.

And it’s easy for me: I don’t pronounce ‘than’ and ‘then’ the same way.

Interesting

Yep, it’s part of the conjecture I’ve about why many non-native speakers are
good with grammar:
— unless totally bilingual, we always at least partially or unconsciously translate
to/from our mother tongue and its grammar,
— we learn english through writing first or at least together with oral, not
oral first,
— we have bad accents that makes us differentiate homophones like ‘than/then’,
‘they’re/there/their’, ‘you’re/your’…
— or we have the same words (or close enough) in our mother tongue and they sound
very different there: ‘effect/affect’, ‘principle/principal’…
— and, of course, we are careful and check before posting

For instance, I learned ‘you’re’ as ‘you + are’ (tu es|vous êtes) and ‘your’
as a possessive (ton/ta/tes|votre/vos).  So, even if I manage to get my tongue
to pronounce english correctly (not an easy task) and make ‘you’re’ and ‘your’
sound the same, the sounds come last, so no problem in writing.

That isn't a big problem since I work from home but to get packages shipped
off, I have been relying on pickup requests through PirateShip.

I had several packages picked up a few days ago but one of them still says that
USPS is awaiting the item. I'm not sure if I should have asked the buyer
if they wanted a refund, but I really don't want to keep someone waiting
for a package that'll never arrive. I guess I take the loss out of a desire
to keep people happy.

Really disappoints me since it was a $30 parts order after shipping.

Maybe it was just not scanned correctly.  It will be scanned later… maybe only
at delivery.  According to many threads here, it happens a lot.

Note that it’s only one-way: you can know the message was read, when the ‘no’

their BL messages by e-mail and read only the e-mail.

As for delays, wait at least a day or two.  It depends on the ‘profesionnal-ness’
of the seller: whether it’s a big store with employees to check all day long
or a hobbyist that only checks every other day or on the week end.

Check their terms & splash screen too.
Some say wether & how they answer questions.
The answer may already be in there too (and it’s often why the seller doesn’t
answer… even if it’s not always very clear except to them ).

People buy LEGO to be able to have the pleasure to successfully assemble kits
themselves.

This kit or an other one; they wish to decide what to do of those parts.

If I buy this Minifig, it may be to use some of the parts to do something else.
It'd be stupid to get them assembled, THEN have to disasemble them.

It's just "stacked for shipping", silly IMO.

Agreed totally.  I was just making fun of the blanket statement

I think that depends how you store and manipulate your bags afterward.

If you put them all loose in a big box and need to stir them to find one, then
yes, they’ll rub.
If they are neatly stored and easy to reach without moving them, then no.

It shouldn’t be very difficult to do with Studio.

Should i add 1 extra line for each part that i find 1 extra piece for in the
set (compared to what is the number in the instruction manual) - so as an EXTRA
part ?

Yes, mostly.  The quantities should be checked by building the set (or fake-building:
just counting the parts while reading the instructions).
It’s not unheard of for LEGO to make errors in the inventories.

(And, please, cut your previous text when answering.  Having to scroll down is
annoying )

Actually - the csv inventory from BRICKSET combined with the codes csv from bricklink
has been of great help to me to generate the XML file that is needed to import
the set inventory into bricklink -- i am just waiting for my new items and
images to be approved ..

You seem not to have understood my first remark in https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1355609:

“First, LEGO inventories (the same as on Brickset) are already used to
pre-fill BL inventories […]”

… and to have missed / skipped the option when you created that inventory.

IOW, when you create an inventory on BL, you have the option to use the data
from LEGO to pre-fill the inventory.
It does exactly what you did whith your CVS files… but without your having to
lift a finger!

IOOW, what you’re suggesting already exists, but we failed to explain it to you
correctly and you then missed the option when you created that inventory.
Sorry for the extra work you did….

Click All Filters then check the box at the bottom.

Wow - that's a scoop

AFOLs often claim they are OCD… but they don’t check the prices of left & right
aren’t the same or it doesn’t bother them when they check?  Pff, not real OCD
then.

Yep, guessed this.

That can be long if it’s not automitized.

If it can't be automitized (hee hee automitized) there's still the manual
approach in BrickStore which is very easy.

You, you’re not lazy enough.  I’m sure it could be automAtized.

It's almost always the same for wedges, wedge plates, etc.

They're mainly NOT used to rebuild the original Set, but to build personal
creations or downloaded MOCs...

... in which only one of the pair may be used.
Which then creates a difference in price (because offer / demand).

Seems those offer/demand things have a long hysteresis because when you look
at the stock, some have decades of stock and there’s still a price difference.

I'm not sure what you exactly wish, but with BrickStore you can almost do
whatever you want, either when parting out, or just after in the list (sort,
select, delete...) a few clicks.

AFAIU, they don’t want to choose between importing the Counterparts or not, they
want them imported as an assembly and removed from the Regular parts.

Import a car: get the 4x wheel+tyre assemblies but not the 4x wheels + the 4x
tyres.

One problem with that is that there’s no link between the Counterpart and its

I don't know much about 4085b but I'm very skeptical that 4081b was produced
when this set was released. The page for 4081b gives production years of 1980-2022
but I would be shocked if that were true - it would mean that the two different
molds were used from the start.

‘Production years’ for parts are automatically derived from production years
of the sets they appear in.  So they are mostly wrong.

Say the real dates for variant A were from 1980 to 1987 and for variant B from
1985, as soon as there’s a set produced from 1980 that was also found with a
B, B’s years are extended to cover this set’s years and therefore become 1980-2022.

One way to correct this error would be for the site to not take into account
the sets for which the part is only in Alternate.
And for real accuracy, we need to be sure that for all Regular/Alternate couples
in inventories, the older part is always in Regular and the newer always in Alternate.

So, if you need a Technic pin, and if you need its inner tube to stay empty,
that means you want to connect the pin into a Technic hole, no?
In that case, you simply & directly connect the Technic hole to the stud at the
top of the cone.

It would need lots of repetition in names.

Depends. It's possible to set up a search index to include synonyms at index
time (so you would say that "DBG" is a synonym for "dark bluish gray" for example)
or at search time (so that "DBG" and maybe "dark bluish grey" and "dark bley"
translate to "dark bluish grey"). Modifying the search functionality is probably
the easiest thing to do here on BL (to change the indexing would mean re-indexing
everything).

One could do a local script on one’s browser to replace LGB (etc.) with the long
version(s) when one types it (them) in the BL search boxes.

I am running a store in Luxembourg to sell the bulk of my collection and it’s
taking time because I have 3000plus sets.

My understanding from the tax office and from an accountant is that I do not
have to register because even tho my sales are over 10k I am selling private
lego and I am not a trader. I have never bought to sell or claimed any of my
sets in my store against tax. It’s the same as if I was selling a painting privately.

I have had repeated emails with bricklink but they have limited me to selling
within Luxembourg. What can I do?

I am downsizing so this could become a nightmare for me!any advice appreciated!

Thanks

Simon

I look at in this way:

Old Rule: When someone sells something in a EU country (theirs or another EU
country), above a given threshold (per country), they have to be registered and
collect VAT (for that country), whatever their status in other countries.

New Rule, OSS: When someone sells something in other EU countries, above €10k
(total on all EU countries except their own), they have to be registered and
collect VAT for those countries, whatever their domestic status.  And the old
rule only applies domestically now.

And if you look at your situation back with only the old rule: if country X had
a threshold of €10k and your country had a threshold of €100k, you wouldn’t have
to be registered in your country but you would have to be in country X if you
sold for more than €10k there.
The new rule is the same… it’s just that ‘country X’ is now ‘all other EU countries
together.’

Also, I don’t know the rules in Luxembourg, but in France, when you sell your
personnal stuff for more than €5k/year, you’re taxed on the added
value at a rate similar to VAT (see what I did with bold? ).  In all
but name, that places you in the same case as a VAT-registered business using
the margin scheme.

Now I don't get your reply.

It’s because my last neurons have been steamed the last few days

I read

You uploaded a lot at 10€ and included your HU VAT 27%, so your price is 12.70€

as: you set the price at €10, you have VAT at 27%, then the price is €12.70.

What I meant to emphasize is that sellers put the final price (12.70€)… and,
sometimes, the VAT is removed from that (which leads to €10).

For OP’s situation, as their store is VAT-doesn’t-apply in Hungary, their price
is €12.7-VAT-doesn’t-apply in Hungary.
They shouldn’t think the price is €10 + 27% VAT because VAT doesn’t apply for
them in HU!
And they don’t export to non-EU at 0% VAT either because there’s no VAT in their
prices.  So the price is €12.7 for non-EU buyers too.
What I’m not sure about is whether they can ADD VAT for EU buyers (so €15.4 for
a French buyer) or if it should work as BL works now: that the VAT is considered
included (so €12.7 for a French buyer, of which the seller has to remitt €2.12
of VAT, so earns only €10.58).

That VAT-doesn’t-apply-domestically-but-does-in-EU is indeed weird… but legal.

You can be non-VAT AND OSS enabled???

Apparently, yes.

  OSS registration needs a VAT-ID, doesn't it?

Yes.  But anyone can ask for a VAT-ID.  Having a VAT-ID is not the same as having
to collect VAT.

https://entreprendre.service-public.fr/vosdroits/F23570
“L'entreprise non redevable de la TVA peut, si elle le souhaite, demander

Sorry - I don't understand this seller case then.
