Search "USPS rate changes effective April 3, 2022" if the following link doesn't
work:

Pirate Ship offers the best rate estimate to calculate shipping and is the same
rates as Ship Station via PayPal. Hope that helps.

Thanks. Though that is the same info I was aware of, it is all in effect for
larger and heavier parcels. But the one I have is 14x11x7 and coming up all
sort so prices as I select heights that I could cut the box down to. Actual
cubic area is well under the cubic foot and still random balloon fees are added
on with each extra inch in height. It makes no sense to any info I can find
on USPS rate calculations, and this is using Stamps.com commercial rates same
as those other places. It's just the most bizarre as I've never run
into it before this package.

Given the past history of sellers not being allowed to shop (even personally)
on LEGO.com this account linking move is honestly alarming. Is there a statement
in the terms clarifying that activity buying on LEGO.com and selling on BrickLink
will NOT be cross compared for the purpose of bans or blocks? If not, I can
never see this move as one that will never be taken well by the dedicated sellers
here. LEGO broke our trust...let's see them earn it back or at minimum a
legal promise to not pull the same low-leveled anti-trust law breaking bans as
last time.

Not sure if/when anything changed...but since when did USPS start charging balloon
rates for parcels over (best I can tell) a 550 cubic inches limit? It was always
a cubic foot. Today though I am getting rates that change almost every 200 cubic
inches, to the tune that their normal free boxes cost MORE than the Large Flat
Rate box!?!?! It really makes no sense at all.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or have reference to a site explaining the new
calculations? I checked USPS and cannot find a thing about it other than the
states cubic foot and balloon rates over that.

I shipped yesterday too and this did not happen that I noticed, nor in the weeks
since the last stated rate increase for the holidays. Really makes UPS Ground
a steal on pricing in comparison.

Trying to add parts and the inventory page submit button will not work. Acts
like it is not clickable. Tried multiple devices and connections to no avail.
Is this an ongoing issue? Worked fine last night.

The winner will be DMed by me the card which I'll purchase electronically

I'd prefer to only allow American users to participate since I'm not
sure I could buy a card in most other currencies, though I've given a card

  I'd guess:

* If everyone describe the condition of each of their Used lot, the BL database
will explode.

* It's 100% subjective: "like New" (as damaged as I think new are?), or "Used
but Mint" (WTF?), or "You'll be proud to have those at home" (!?), in short:
comments on the quality may simply mean nothing. Also think at people who aren't
fluent in English.

* There could be a problem regarding prices and even the definition of the condition
itself: if a "like New" part is half the price of a New part, then why would
anyone buy a New one, if it's the same as an Used?

But but I'm not BL or TLG, I don't know.

If your Used quality is excellent, people will come back - and running!!!
And I'm sure you can advertise in your Terms that Used are "like New", or
"even better"

But Used is used, and New is new.

Same may happen to sellers selling "New / Just parted out from a Set" or "New
/ Perfect condition!", "New / Mint!!!!".

I don't know why BL does this - but I think they're simplifying the transactions.

You sell Used: you'd better sell good quality.

If there's a major default you have to mention it (see Help about
condition).

Otherwise, it's simply Used.

But again, I don't know about this, just an idea to help you.

I'm off, cheers!

Um, I sort of just explained all that as what we do as a reputable shop with
happy customers.

But 'NEW' is a one category definition, the meaning being anything "not
used." Used is a definition of all else...anything inherently 'not new.'
By this fact 'USED' actually begs a clarification as to how much 'use'
it has. Describing how much 'non-use' something has actually can get
really silly beyond sharing what verifies it as new. Sealed, unopened, etc.

So no, BL cannot be asking us to not add comments...they actual say we should...and
I do. If their database cannot withstand such descriptions added it's a
sorry excuse for a reason to limit the ability to list items accurately and with
detial (if even their intent to have no descriptions, which I doubt.)

'Like new' is the tried and true simplified comment that means close
to but not quite actually new condition. How can you get more descriptive and
concise than those two words?

The issue is how do you define something as 'close to' or 'like'
anything without saying what it is that is is similar to? It is why "like new"
is such a good description of exceptionally great, with nearly no sign of use,
condition parts. 'Like' is far more descriptive than just saying 'excellent
condition.' 'Excellent' in what way? 'Like' implies nearly
but not identical, so 'like new' being "like but not quite identical
to new condition." 'Excellent' just means a refined version of good.
But 'good' is so heavily opinion based that on BrickLink it actually
means inferior in most cases. New is new, and being like it is about as non-opinionated
of a described as you can get IMO.

I thought the help center was simply intended as a guide and to prevent an influx
of easily answered questions.

Also, BL doesn't seem to have effective staffing for responding to messages,
but they can take the time to needlessly delete listings. What's up with
their priorities?

The "Terms of Service" at

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/terms_of_service.page

under item "6. Seller Terms" links to the "Seller Terms of Service" at

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/terms_of_service_seller.page

The "Seller Terms of Service" then links to the "Item For Sale Condition" under
item "1.2.10".

Regardless, "please" is not a legal term requiring anything. It by effect makes
the statement unenforceable as it is merely a suggestion at that point.

Have been listing items as used but with comments of "Like New," (when nearly
physically impossible to tell they ever were used) as well as "Excellent," "Very
Good," "Average," "Scuffed," etc. for years now, and much to the expressed thankfulness
of buyers searching for quality used parts.

However today lots were deleted from my store, stating "like new" or "as new"
is not allowed to define used parts. Reference was given to the listing policy
pages, which I reviewed in full...but there is nothing in there that says it
is not allowed to use the terms like "like new" to describe condition. It honestly
makes no sense to enforce a policy that isn't yet added to the terms, or
announced (even emailed to sellers) so they have time to take action if the rules
have changed.

Funny part in this case is another seller with the exact same item has the same
exact description...but their lot is still posted. Really makes no sense and
clarification on this really needs to be made both to all sellers and ESPECIALLY
spelled out in the listing policy pages if this is not allowed and/or lots are
going to be deleted over it.

Are we as sellers really not able to describe condition of parts based on a rating
of the level of use for used bricks? "Like new" has for ages been the standard
term to use on all online marketplaces to sell items that are otherwise indistinguishable
from being used, but yet are not 100% new.

Quite irksome to get blindsided and need to redo my listings over non-existent
terms or clarifications claiming to be the reason for the removal.

Seems it is right in that range, so probably so (buyer paid USD). But still,
why will the shipping services not let me bypass the VAT requirement? Guess
I'll need to talk to them.

Thanks for the clarification though on BL side of tings.

Got a UK order but BL appears to have not charged the required VAT, nor have
they supplied a VAT number or document to add to the shipment. PayPal and Stamps.com
both will not let me print a label without a VAT number. This did not happen
before...so what am I supposed to do? Anyone know?

Would be weird if that is the cause...but BL needs to try to replicate and prevent
it. Appears to be a known issue occurring somewhat regularly for more than 8
months now sure, the issue could be resolved by now. Simply put sellers need
to be able to reply on their inventory not getting mucked up over anything they
themselves do not do.

up with negative quantities posted back into my inventory? (See image)

I have stock of all the parts ordered, but the negatives are really sold out
and should show 0. The lots in the inventory clearly show negative inputs when
clicked on. All lots appear to have been double subtracted when the order was
placed. (ie. instead of 100 1x1 bricks, 200 were removed; instead of 20 bamboo
leaves, 40 were removed causing -19; etc.)

If this is an error that is possible, how am I expected to catch the system mistakes
unless a buyer buys at least more than half of a listed lot? As quantity is
thus dropped that should still be posted still for sale.

To the best of my knowledge this is the only order it happened with, but I really
wonder if this is tied in part of the years-running "gremlin" of lots that had
weird quantity adjustments. Lots that you later find tons left but none listed
that make no sense, and likewise lots reposing that you know sold out months
or years earlier.

Would really be nice to know there is a system check in place to double check
the inventory quantity pre-order and post-order, to ensure this cannot happen.
It cannot be to hard to log and compare both numbers versus the quantity in
the order to add a safety and keep posted inventory accurate for buyers. If
the system can double deduct, it would imply the system can fail to deduct too,
both of which will can can cause havoc for sellers and buyers alike.

Regards,
Jonathan

P.S. The order is #19823229 for when the support team is going to look into this.
I will leave the sold out lots (now negative lots) unchanged for the time being,
but will correct anything I have more quantity of on hand. Happy to chat if
you need any info on my end beyond looking into the system logs to see how this
hapened.

Can you not modify anything manually and check the lots (negative and positive
ones) tomorrow after daily maintenance to see if anything is corrected automatically?

Have you anything stuck at In Progress (X)?

I has been 2 days already since we got it, and nothing processing. Gone over
the old posts and none of those issues give any indication of a reason for the
problems. Even if they did, they should not happen and it has fully steamed
from the BL system, whatever part I am unsure, but nothing we are doing any differently
on our end.

When you download your inventory as XML, does it show negative as well?

Also, this can't be done with the API (or shouldn't be possible), calls
will fail when you try to set qty to 0 or lower (except for stockroom, I think).
This should exclude sync solutions, are you using any?

None of the above. It's fully the BL system here.

Definitely was instant checkout, but none of the other info applies. We do not
use external software and it has been 2 days since this order came through.
Extremely annoying given so many lots, and really alarming given all the errors
that could happen seeing it is not an outlier instance.

IIRC, there’s been a couple others recently… without real reason / solution…
except “wait & look again after maintenance.”

Agree. As for our lot, it's still showing negative after 4 month ...

Could be the clean up function not working properly 😜

Sadly there's a lot more than cleanup function that isn't working well
these day on BL.

Found a 3rd in the set when building it, so seems there are 2 extra pieces. The instructions only called for 1, both in the building steps and the part list in the back.

For future reference, there are usually two extras of these sunglasses, as well
as two extras for the bows and flowers that go in the mini doll hair pieces.

Thanks, I just never saw the second until building it. May have been inside
another part. I'll definitely watch closer for them expecting 2 extras of
each.

I guess you could always return it as a "damaged item".

Or maybe just keep it.

In this case it appears to more so be a "1/1 rare" item, not damaged at all!

If it was auctioned, should it not go to a buyer in that auction?

The auction was in June of 2019.
I’m guessing the winner of the auction has now sold it.

Correct. I got it on eBay not too long ago. Apparently the owner never opened
the case and didn't remember how special it was!

From the Dan Jezek tribute site:
https://www.danjezek.com/visits8.html

Three successful designers presented their work at a BL-sponsored AFOL session
during BrickWorld. Later, several featured ADP sets were auctioned off at the
annual charity fund raiser, with each signed set (signed by the set's designer
as well as Eliska Jezkova, BrickLink, and Tormod Askildsen, the LEGO Group) helped
to raise a record $27,000 this year for worthy causes.

This Tweet has a picture of your Löwenstein Castle:

Löwenstein Castle was designed by Raziel Regulus.

Thanks for the link! That is indeed the set I wound up with.

I'd be intrigued to know who's signatures these are. The one appears
to say "Dan's mom" under it....as in perhaps the site founders mother signed
it?

Ask her. Eliska profile: https://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=Danielsmom

Ah! Thanks for the link. I think I will!

Been getting delay notices on my order for month after month now. These sets
have been out since December...and now the latest update is mine won't even
ship until mid March? And all due to "backorder" status. This makes no sense
as I was one of the first couple hundred buyers to get an order in for them.
It makes no sense to give a shipment date and change it 3 times pushing delivery
back to 3 months later than everyone else.

ALL sets should have shipped at the same time just like any newly released
Adult targeted set. Really feel the ball was dropped on these latest rounds
of sets once the LEGO.com site was used for order fulfillment. So many issues
including no customer care on incorrect cancellations for some of my sets. The
very first ADP sets were done so much better and the team here was way above
and beyond to get things right on that first round. Why can't these new
sets be handled in at least the same professional manner? This was supposed
to be a community program, not corporate "too big to care" program for adult
fans to share, vote, collect and connect through.

Just had to vent as I've been anticipating these for sooooo long! The delays
are getting ridiculous and after others have already had theirs for months, and
all while leaving many devoted early buyers hanging still.

* Delete 1 Minifigure adv024 Johnny Thunder (Expedition)

Comments from Submitter:
This is assumed set contents match to 7422-1. I have not physically opened this set version to confirm, but it would seem correct given other site inventories showing plain legs, same as I confirmed in 7422-1.

Set No: 21123 Name: The Iron Golem
*
21123-1 (Inv) The Iron Golem
166 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2016
Sets: Minecraft
does not show this figure

Minifig No: min093 Name: Iron Golem - Tow Ball Arm Attachments
*
min093 (Inv) Iron Golem - Tow Ball Arm Attachments
Minifigures: Minecraft
which is present on the box imagery and included in the inventory.

Should a catalog note be added to clarify this?

I have seen such on other sets with official image vs. actual set discrepancies...for
example this one.

Set No: 7955 Name: Wizard
*
7955-1 (Inv) Wizard
14 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2010
Sets: Castle: Kingdoms

Jonathan

P.S. While on the note of wizards, is this part named correctly with the double
"z" in the word Wizzard?
[P=76371pb201,3]
If correct due to event name using the double "z" spelling, it is hard to find,
so adding the normal spelling might be advisable.

You could be thinking of me, I was/am looking for the counterpart to these.

Haven’t come across those in a long time. Being an older Tyco part they are far
less common. But should I find any I’ll let you know!

Pretty sure it’s not LEGO, but it does have me curious what it came from and

How are schools indoctrinating youth against capitalism?

Do you have any specific examples?

I could really get off topic here, but just try looking at the curriculum being
taught and compare it to that from 20-30 years ago. History events are changed
or omitted, key "fathers of communism" figures are now celebrated in countries
formerly known as capitalistic or free market. Couple with what students really
know (if you take the time to talk to any and dig for depth of knowledge in conversation)
and you'll find the vast differences in education in just the last few decades.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, but this forum isn't the place for
the topic beyond how it relates to our interactions now as sellers, buyers and
collectors from largely opposite economic world views. But is key IMO to understanding
why these vastly opposite and even angry interactions are occurring with consumers
faulting the profits of a reseller as immoral, when the original seller made
just as much if not more profit to start with. The lack of logic in such a view
is astounding.

I'm part of several non-BL Lego groups such as some of the FaceBook AFOL
groups plus some groups that are local to me (in the UK). I've noticed that
there is a range of opinions on people who sell / resell Lego and that (strangely,
IMO) some opinions can be vehemently negative. This can range from the odd comment
about how resellers are missing the "point" of Lego (i.e. it's a toy, it
shouldn't be resold for profit) to some downright nasty comments about me
being a "scalping scumbag" and that I'm "ruining the hobby, driving up prices,
taking food out of children's mouths" etc (not kidding about that last one!)

Tbh I'm never that bothered about any negativity as I'm sure you get
it everywhere, but I do think it's strange in that I guess people just misunderstand
how the market works. I can only set my own prices and not the general market
value, so if I overprice my Lego it won't sell, and if I underprice it then
I wouldn't make any money so there would be less Lego available (as I'd
be out of the market).

I guess Lego does retain it's value well when resold so maybe people are
angry about this, but I don't know of any resellers that are raking it in
at other people's expenses. In fact for the hours we put in I'd say we
generally don't get paid all that well. Especially when I put in extra time
for customer service (making sure we're good/very good at all aspects of
what we do, it takes extra time for which we don't actually get paid).

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this sort of negativity and accusation
that we're all driving up prices and making Lego unaffordable for most people
(I'd actually argue the opposite is the case as we provide an alternative
to buying from Lego themselves who would basically have a monopoly if resellers
didn't exist!)

I am assuming you are also talking about older sets. For me after learning about
bricklink I have been able to get sets that I couldn't afford when I was
a small child. I can afford them now but without resellers I wouldn't be
able to buy them. Recently I have finally been able to obtain the 10143 UCS Death
Star II New for $550 by buying the parts. That is incredible. I also got the
6211 here for a bit over $150 (no minifigs, but new). Without any resellers this
would never have been possible, ignore the hate comments, you resellers are awesome
.

I get comments around everything new and old, rare and common, but the worst
ones usually relate to new sets that sell out quickly and people can't get
them at RRP and instead have to pay the initial inflated price when they get
relisted. I get this is annoying for people, and tbh not something I do, but
I still don't think the people doing it are really doing anything "wrong"
as it's a free market and people can buy what they like and try to resell
it for whatever they like.

IMO its more so the anti-capitalist (or communist) teaching of youth that has
created the idea that profit is bad, and everyone deserves the same outcome...thus
anything they want they deserve to get, and anyone who gets more than they wanted
is (quote) "scalping scumbag."

I once even ran into a buyer on eBay who I had to give a basic lessen in economics
to after he "felt terrible" he sold something to be for more than he had paid.
When I enlightened him that likely everything in life he ever bought had the
seller making a profit (be it Amazon, Walmart or a private seller), it was
like a light bulb moment for him... I just don't get how he reached adulthood
not realizing this absolutely basic component of a free market? Seemingly schools
noways are not even teaching basic concepts, but rather indoctrinating youth
with who knows what instead!!!

Rant over, but I honestly think it all stems from a disconnect on the way the
last generation or two has been taught. Especially in well-to-do societies where
a large sum of the children have been pampered and treated like self-serving
royalty, rather than trainees facing graduated real-life challenges aiming to
help them become the leaders they need to be for the next generation. Global
warming won't wipe us out nearly as quick as such lack of knowledge and training
will.

Policy may have changed since I did a lot of catalog work, but generally gaps
(though rare) are left unfilled and the next sequential number up is used for
the next part addition.

I'm sure the admins will confirm though for further clarity.

Jonathan

Beyond the misprinted parts in my original post, the brick has had me wondering
today if anyone has seen such an oddly deformed LEGO part in a set before? Short
molds I've seen, but the Technic brick seems to come from a very damaged
and broken mold.

The store I was at last month let 1-2 customers near the wall at a time and each
could then scoop out parts, and then from those fill your cup as you pleased.
I imagine they are all a little different, but along those lines. You should
be able to pack the cup as you want, after following any needed steps to get
to that point.

In this case, does Bricklink allow the buyer to open a new account and basically
start over?

If you stoplisted the first account any feedback from the second account will
be removed after the merge.

But I had not stoplist because the account was already banned and I had not seen
any reason to stoplist a banned account (and NPB was not yet completed)

Go ahead and stoplist them anyway. Should work the same way. Admins are usually
quite good with realizing the issue and preventing problem buyers and unfair
feedback in these cases....unlike other selling sites.

Please elaborate on the "other options" as so far those have all been suppressed
or removed, not developed for our ease of use and made easily searchable to buyers.

Jonathan

You can either part out the incomplete minifigure, create a custom lot, or create
a super lot.

Those are NOT options that serve user needs better. Super-lots are removed from
search results by default, so a buyer not aware of this setting misses finding
these items at all. Custom lots have pretty much the same thing as it will not
be findable in any way associated with the actual minifigure, set, or minifigure
parts in the catalog. Part out option, the whole point of the post as this is
exactly what I do not want to do. In the current "suppressed" option of the
two above there is no option of value. So there is really no option that truly
"better serves the needs of users" given the only options offered are suppressed
and hidden ones only a savvy user would be able to find or use effectively.
And the listing process for super lots is super outdated. If that is deemed
as something that "better serves the needs of users" it really needs to be revised
and needs to be an on-page switchable filter like the "exclude incomplete" option
on all set catalog pages. If that were the case, making super-lots easily visible
to all users, then I'd agree, it can work as a viable alternate. But suppressing
all linked items, via a hidden setting, is not a user friendly option or alternative.

Jonathan

BrickLink does not encourage sellers to use super lots. We tolerate them as a
legacy function.

As others have said, you can list them as individual parts, which is really what
the site prefers that you do. We are primarily a parts website. That is the thing
that BrickLink does better than any other site.

Yes, but the "parts" draw is simply the fact one can shop something less than
a full set, not specifically bricks and plates, etc. Minifigures are a large
(if not the largest) value category of all in the "less than a set" sales category.
Minifigures are as, if not more collectable, than sets these days. It is what
sells a set and typically is 30-50% of a sets value in parts.

You can also list as custom items, and they are searchable under the category
tree in the catalog. They are completely visible in minifig searches and filters
within a store, and are a second-best option next to listing the parts.

We will likely resort to this as an only option, though not as desirable on a
selling standpoint, and not well viewable to buyers except once in our shop.

If eBay is a better marketplace to list minifigs without legs and heads, then
so be it. They are unquestionably the best place to find unsorted lots. We do
not want junk entries cluttering up the BrickLink listings that people see at
the foot of a catalog entry.

We never have listed figures missing body parts, that's clearly not a figure
but parts. Missing a hood, cap or range finder is another matter (in my view).

To the extent that we can, we want to make sure the customer is getting what
they see on the page, where there is no inconsistency between the product they
see in the image and the one they get in the package.

I agree, but requiring custom photos with the "incomplete" sub-condition can
solve this, which we do add for such items.

Like I said earlier, the incomplete set option is a necessary concession due
to the nature of some LEGO sets, especially if we keep the listing standards
high.

Then I would suggest changing the listing terms to define what is allowable.
If you want a high standard it should state such and limit what can even be
listed under the "incomplete" category to ensure this is the case. As is there
is really no standard to follow other than to list what isn't included.
This means I can list the minifigure missing hood as an incomplete set. Hmmm...I
may have found my best option for incomplete minifigure solution. (Joking of
course, though oddly it actually would follow the current rules.)

To me it means that BrickLink does not want incomplete sets and an incomplete
set is the exception and should be a low percentage of the lots for sale.

Yeah, that baffles me too. Seems if that is why "incomplete" for sets even exists
the listing rules need to state so. And in that case why even have it? Such
rare cases of incomplete sets can also just be listed as custom lots. It all
makes no sense...but so does the fact we never get notified by email of any important
changes to the site. Just random stuff like 20th anniversary promos, and other
much useless "don't need to know" sales gibberish.

Stop fixing "specs" in our listings (like policing a few listings for figures
incomplete) and overlooking the "logs" in your own department (numerous site
functionality bugs, no communication, etc.) clunking up the site as a whole.
The one does not affect usability. The other is the basis of a reliable working
website.

piece I part the minifig into parts. Usually it is the expensive piece I am missing

I am against this because it is not needed. IF this was allowed sellers would
have to upload a picture of what they are selling, not affect the price guide
and not come up in searches. Then it can be just listed as a custom item which
can be done now

Years ago when I first started selling, I had minifigs listed with 'No Cape'
that were removed by BrickLink. I've never bothered with incomplete figs
ever since. I find that people buy the separate parts just fine.

I think incomplete figs should not be allowed unless their sales don't affect
the price guide for complete ones.

Jen

Implementing user friendly, and fully optional features just because they are
deemed "not needed" is a really bad way to build a buyer-friendly site. Much
that makes BrickLink what is is is certainly "not needed" by everyone, though
all is highly useful to the right person. This would be too for those interested...again
it would be optional and filterable by default just like sets. And of course
it would in no way affect the standard minifigure price guide and results. Buyers
can sort them out same as sets, or even search only incomplete. It is a win
win for everyone (like it, use it, or not), so let those who like/need/want it
have the option at least. It certainly cannot hurt anything.

Jonathan

Agreed!
I just really worry about BrickLink's ability to make any changes to the
site without breaking stuff.

Jen

Now that I can agree with.

I am still baffled how a used lot selling out then combines the lot with my new
inventory for the same part. Have has so much trouble trying to find the X amount
of an item left (per the order page) when my drawer has exactly the quantity
ordered by the buyer...only to then see the link takes me to the opposite condition
parts, and the used lot (set to retain) is gone for good.

  Voted no.

  3) And: "Minifigures" are a specific collection of parts.
4) Then by logic: Such collections of parts are still considered "minifigures"
whether complete or incomplete.

Disagree. Because minifigures are typically only 3-5 parts, their completeness
must be defined differently. Minifigures are not just "a specific collection
of parts," they're "a specific collection of parts that constitutes a complete
figure." A set missing 1 or 2 parts is an incomplete set; a minifigure missing
1 or 2 parts is just a couple of random parts. IMO, Boba Fett without a helmet
isn't Boba Fett (just one example, but it illustrates my point).

3-5, 10-20, or whatever, it's fully optional and allows easy search for a
match to a figure you have some of and want to complete or swap for better condition
parts. Or even to collect figures of diverse completeness for army building
(highly popular).

Also your "a specific collection of parts that constitutes a complete figure"
works the same towards sets which are simply "a specific collection of parts
that constitutes a complete set". Same logic. It's not specifically about
sets versus minifigures, but items with inventories s of which minifigures are
the largest category this issue currently affects. Anything "bundled" (which
is what sets, minifigures, etc. are) but incomplete should be able to be listed
that way. Seller choice versus parting. Many folks have stuff to sell and would
rather sell in searchable incomplete lots, not a bunch of time consuming parts
to list and then only sell a few of them over many months. Incomplete item sub-conditions
on all such lots allows searchable, one-lot sell all opportunity, and fully
transparent to buyers by the "incomplete" and descriptive comments.

We NEED "incomplete/complete" definitions for minifigures (and for all inventoried
items for that matter) to keep this marketplace competitive.

I don't think you have any proof for this claim, and I don't think any
exists.

I already laid out the proof logically. Unless you deem "need" a term of absolute,
usable only in regard to survival, not the intended and usually used "really,
really want this" I meant it as. BrickLink isn't "needed" by the absolute
definition. Just air, water and shelter are all that are "needed." So rephrase
the statement as "want it badly" to get my point. I know other folks in my LUG
who want it, and then there are others in this thread who do too. You may not
use it, but it would be highly useful to more than you might imagine. And competitiveness
stems from new ideas and updates, not keeping all the same as it always has been.

It's doubtful that requiring minifigures to be complete or be broken
down into parts will meaningfully impact Bricklink as a marketplace.

Speculating (that is what "doubtful" means) that it won't impact meaningfully
is just your view...until we try and have statistics on both sides to evaluate.
One sided stats do not negate the potential unrealized value of the previously
non-existent alternative. It's like saying we don't need airplanes
for travel since we already have horse and carriage as well as automobiles to
travel with. Holding that view today would get you laughed at, but it was held
by many in the early 1900's mocking the attempt to find travel options in
the air. This is also the same non-forward thought processes of the many industries
lost to the past by failing to adapt. Adapt and move forward, don't use
the current status-quo to negate opportunity for progress.

A $20 11-piece minifigure missing an inconsequential part should be possible
to list as "incomplete" and defining the missing item.

But that's not what happens most of the time. Over 7 years of buying Lego,
I've virtually never seen incomplete figures on Bricklink missing only a
common/cheap part. Usually, they're missing the only piece that gives the
figure value but are still listed at nearly full price (see: Angelica/Radagast
and the Dark Tan feather). If the missing part is so inconsequential, sellers
should replace it themselves before selling the figure.

Again "most of the time" and "7-years of buying" are personal view and experience
which cannot speak for all. I've been here 15-years and I have seen such
"missing cheap part" listings. But neither my experience or yours proves anything.
The difference on the topic is my view only helps those who want the feature,
and in no way harms those who do not (as it is currently always optional to search
with incomplete items included). Your view is to limit the options of others
based on your own buying/selling habits. I'd never vote against an "optional"
feature just because I wouldn't find it useful myself.

To have to break this nearly complete collection
composing the minifigure down to individual parts, pieces a seller likely does
not want to break apart given it is more desirable or worth more as a whole instead
of pieces, makes eBay a better marketplace for the item. eBay should NEVER be
a better option than BrickLink on the ability to list and sell LEGO.

I doubt anyone will find better luck selling incomplete figures on eBay. The
vast, vast majority of buyers don't want them. You're overestimating
the demand by a lot. And why is it so hard to list those 2 or 3 parts from a
minifigure separately? Since components are usually worth more individually than
together, the seller will usually make more money listing each part separately,
even if it takes longer to sell all the components.

Everything sells on eBay. Give it time (same as it takes here) and a buyer will
come. Been doing that for 20-years and it has always worked out. Never has
an item that didn't eventually sell, and I've sold over 10,000 items
there.

The bigger issue is that no small seller wants to be required to list and sell
all the parts individually to a set versus one lot (even if incomplete). Many
want to simplify to save both time and hassle, and NOT generate lots of orders
just to get the many components sold off. Same goes for minifigures too. It
is (on sets) and should be (on minifigures) that one can list searchable lots,
filterable by condition and completeness, which can then be accurately defined
through description. One should never be required to tear apart a already defined
"collection of parts" making up a whole, simply due to missing a part. Again,
options for those who want them, not forced on anyone. If you don't need
it, don't use it. But let those wanting it have the option.

It certainly cannot hurt the marketplace and will actually improve it by helping
to eliminate the ever so common "missing ----" descriptions sellers often
currently use (though shouldn't) under the same catalog entry for the undefined
figure. Buyers shop specific figures, and as such should have the option to
buyer complete or incomplete as meets their needs.

Those "missing" descriptions are being eliminated anyway, since the new policy
is being enforced. If buyers want to buy a partial minifigure, they can easily
buy each of the parts individually. There's no need to search out the one
seller who listed an incomplete fig with exactly the parts they need.

But lets say I want to sell the "10-part missing-1" figure all at once. BrickLink
took away this option with suppression of super-lots, the old allowable option
for incomplete, but bundled sales. If that is a no-no then incomplete status
items need to be a yes-yes. There needs to be an allowable way to bundle items,
especially those belonging together

Honestly there needs to be more bundles available to list on BrickLink, like
full sets of sails for a pirate ship, or even a full set of figures from a
set. This actually has been done for "complete sets of" collectable minifigures....so
why not extend the option to more items that benefit from being in the catalog
as bundles too? This is providing buyers a service for simplified shopping.
Highly useful IMO and something I'd love to be able to use and see more
sellers offering! It simplifies shopping, and provides options to a seller,
especially those not wanting to break a set of sails when they have them all
to offer, etc, etc. A seller needs the ability to restrict sales of the items
to bundles, and making the common options available in the catalog is a win-win
for buyer and seller alike. That is after all all a "minifigure" catalog entry
is to begin with.

1) If: "Sets" are a specific collection of parts.
2) And: Such collections of parts are still considered "sets" whether complete
or incomplete.
3) And: "Minifigures" are a specific collection of parts.
4) Then by logic: Such collections of parts are still considered "minifigures"
whether complete or incomplete.

Ergo, BrickLink is broken. One currently cannot list an incomplete minifigure.
They must instead be broken to their basic components and listed as single parts.....and
this makes no sense from both a logical standpoint or a buyer-friendly standpoint.

We NEED "incomplete/complete" definitions for minifigures (and for all inventoried
items for that matter) to keep this marketplace competitive. A $20 11-piece

is wrong with this site when this is the case.

PLEASE correct this and add the same complete/incomplete definitions for minifigures.

It will be approved to the catalog on its official release date of August 1.

Well, well, looks like I was right and even LEGO themselves couldn't hold
off on selling them "early." "Official" once again means nothing...

Glad to see the listing is approved here now ahead of the "Official release"
(still 4 more days away, and despite the above statement to the contrary).

But seriously, this is a prime example that availability IS the release,
not some random date that may or may not be when they are "anticipated to
potentially, likely and possibly start shipping."

But I'm sure I'll never be told I was right about the Aug 1st release

It will be approved to the catalog on its official release date of August 1.

This seems quite backwards given it is on Amazon, Walmart, and eBay...BrickLink
is only shooting the site visibility in the foot to not follow major retails
early release on this kit.

Jonathan

BrickLink has always followed the official release dates of The LEGO Group for
adding new sets, new minifigures, and new parts to the catalog regardless of
what is happening anywhere else. Before the site was owned by TLG, this was done
out of a sign of respect for the company and helped to solidify a solid relationship
between BrickLink and TLG. Now that the site *is* owned by TLG, I am quite sure
that this process will not change.

You are correct, Randy. We are currently working on a way, in fact, to make sure
that every item is released exactly on time, not early, not late. In fact, we
now have a rule about this in the Seller Terms of Service:

Items Pending Official Release:

Items may not be listed prior to their official LEGO release date, either
as custom lots or under related catalog entries.

I think Jonathan is questioning or revisiting the practice, in citing the various
competitors that currently allow for prerelease date sales. I mean, he's
been around long enough to know the practice here.

I could be wrong, guys, but it's how I read it anyway.

If he has been around long enough to know the practice here, then he should have
known to not ask for a set to be added to the catalog before its release date,
correct?

Focus on the terms "question or revisiting" Randy

Again, I could be misreading his intent.

I think you are.

The question was not "Has the catalog policy changed on adding items before their
official release date?" That would signify questioning or revisiting a policy
that has been set in stone for as long as I can remember and is even now part
of the ToS.

In citing the various and specific competitors currently allowing for the practice,
he's not asking if it's changed, but rather can it be.

Can thought be given to it, is how I read his intent.

It's understandable, he's sitting on some new exciting inventory and
is perhaps anxious to get the ball rolling with it. We've all been there.
Especially in seeing the other sites allowing for the sales.

But let's say I misunderstood, Randy. I so often do

Good night.

I've been around long enough that BrickLink's policy was actualy NOT
the current one (of which I never knew it changed) with items added solely based
on in-hand verification. As most of the items I've had pre-release were
well over 10 years ago, this topic never came up to bring me up to speed. Have
rarely been the lucky one to find a pre-release items before. All distant past
items were approved to the catalog based on a photo of it being in-hand posted
here, so I followed the format I have always done, albeit a few times only in
the past.

So apparently in light of this policy which has been changed now, other items
I've asked for catalog approval since the few those many years past, I must
have been lucky enough to have the newer items have no known release, as they
were added quite quickly post-request. Or maybe they were just slow to be approved
to begin with.

However, and back to my initial response, given TLG takeover of the site I can
see the policy not changing, but also still question the logic. We are not TLG
sellers, nor are we an outlet for only "current" LEGO items, but rather a network
of users selling both past and present (and should be future when available)
items, in both used and new varieties. If the current policy stands it only
enforces pushing sales to other channels (albeit for 2 weeks in this case) due
to "policy" that does not fit what BrickLink is at the core, a market place for
ALL things LEGO (emphasis on "all" as the current policy eliminates some
LEGO from being sold here). This by effect creates a market-deterrent (albeit
minor) from BrickLink being all it can be for the "King of ALL Things
LEGO" (again stress on the "all") as currently eBay is "king" for this set.

In the end not mine, but BrickLink's loss this time around, and TLG's
too by effect. Had 3 to sell, but policy means it will be 3 lost sales on the
BL site and sale fees in TLG's pocket. Is what it is, but it really makes
no sense since the "Official Release" is clearly incorrect data now with the
set is on the market in many notable places and quantity.

If TLG cannot control their major retail partners, please do not make us be held
to a rule they do not enforce elsewhere. It's simply not professional and
solely political at that point. We're too small to be able to get away with
breaking rules, but Amazon and Walmart can do it with no repercussions. Nice.

Again I realize the policy is unlikely to be reviewed or changed, but it still
makes no sense given the circumstance of this set already being on store shelves.

#1a and #1b have been suggested in the past, to no effect. The best way to stop
that problem is to lock your store down, so that no order can be created without
IC. That stops the problem cold. People wanting to cancel an order rarely happens
after they have completed payment.

Nita Rae

Yeah this x 10000

I love my new buyers, I have not had issues with them, my last NPB was a 200
+ feedback person. Before that I can't recall, because it was year ago at
least. I get many many 1 and 0 buyers and I haven't had what you are talking
about happen at all.

Turn on IC for small orders and stop dealing with this. There is no need to.

Glad your experience has been mostly positive. I too love new buyers, always
helping them through the learning curve here when possible. Just because you
haven't had the experience we have had (and others I have talked to recently
as well) doesn't make me dislike new buyers as your above statement would
imply. We love any customer who is not a pin to deal with...which is still 99%
of the time.

You probably don't sell the same items I do so have a very different buyer
base ordering from you. 9 of 10 newer buyers are indeed quick to pay and everything
is super. But it only takes a few orders of hot items, and large quantities
to net a largely negative experience when having to go through the NPB process.
Happy you haven't had them, but I have had 5 the last month alone.

IC BTW won't fix the issue, I actually do have it, but as always allow buyers
to opt for manual invoice as it is ALWAYS cheaper, and smart buyers know that.
And large orders are the ones we cannot do IC on and are the problem orders
99/100 times. So again, won't solve the issue. Parts buyers are generally
very prompt to pay as they have projects they NEED them for so delaying only
hurts them too. Set buyers though can easily change their minds and want something
different.

A good buyer experience like you have never leads to NPB, so the length of allowed
payment time in your case makes no difference. The sellers dealing with NPB's
are the ones who have voice to call for action here, and really, 3-days or a
week is plenty time to pay for an item ordered. I've been buying and selling
for 15-years here now (to your 4) and times were very different back then. Modern
online shopping has changes much for the better, but BL is left in the dark ages
on timeliness for payment/cancellation/NPB. We used to get about 20% of orders
paid with money orders in the day, and that took a week minimum for turnaround
times. Now it is 1 in 1000 as money order with most all being PayPal. Speed
of the process has picked up, and payment terms need to reflect the same as a
general rule.

Again, good buyers pay fast, so 3-days isn't going to hurt them. Bad
or no-show buyers are the problem, and once you have them getting inventory back
in shop is of utmost importance. Because really, I have never had a buyer pay
after NPB except once when the buyer simply had an emergency that called him
away for an extended time. By 1-week it is obvious if payment will ever be sent
or not. So why make sellers wait 7-14 more days to relist items? I do hope
the powers that be do reconsider correcting this aspect of the sales process
here. We have seen progress with IC but not enough just yet for store like ours
who cannot create a IC system fitting to all aspects of our diversified sales.

I think BrickLink has a broken order process now due to the ever changing online
buying experience. For me I have seen an influx of buyers since the LEGO takeover
of BL, most new, but many clearly aware of the site though having limited use
of it in the past.

These buyers are often of the mindset that they are the ones calling the shots
on cancellations, payment time frames, etc. all while having no regard for the
BL or my store terms regarding such. Anything from unilateral ability to
cancel, expectations of free shipping, allowance to pay 10-days after ordering,
etc. and just the general "buyer rules" attitude that other selling sites (need
I name them?) have allowed buyers to abuse sellers with. These other sites have
taken some steps to protect sellers and buyer alike, but BL has fallen behind
the times.

Granted, these buyers are often new to BL which has a major learning curve, but
when you sell the exact same item 3 times in one week, and all 3 buyers want
to cancel after accurate shipping is invoiced for, it gets annoying. Why not
ask for a quote? And why only ask to cancel after days of the invoice being
sent? This and the increase in NPB buyers tying up stock have left me convinced
payment time-frame allowances need to be changed. The following is my view of
the changes this site needs to consider to move forward in a all-parties friendly
way:

Suggested Changes
1a: NPB should be changed to allowable to be filed 3-days from invoice (not
the order date).
This would be similar to other online selling sites. Not
auto-started, but optional so situations and agreements allowing additions, extended
payment, etc. can all still run as before.

1b: NPB should be allowed to complete after 7-days from the invoice date (4
days of being opened).
14 days (21 if buyer responds) is a ludicrous amount
of time to send payment or tie up a sellers stock. 7-days is actually really
long, but much better than 14-21.

Most all decent buyers pay well before 3-days, and a NPB started is simply a
reminder to pay as it cannot be completed unless the buyer fails to ever pay.
So I can only see this as a positive change making bad situations end sooner
than later and keeping stock available on the marketplace.

2: Additionally I would suggest that a feature be added to protect sellers
WHILE allowing unconditional buyer requested cancellations.
However, if
a cancellation is buyer requested the buyer should not be allowed to leave a
review (or an auto-positive given by default), and they should by default be
given a feedback showing an "Order Was Canceled By Buyer" message with a neutral
rating by default. Like an NPB's three-times-and-you're-out policy,
the buyer cancel option should be limited to 2, maybe 3 in a 6-month period,
or something reasonable. This allows buyers a true out when needed, and protects
the seller who after a customer gets pushy or rude the ability to safely allow
cancellation (when the buyer initiates) without needing the NPB and now current
2-3 weeks to prevent an unwarranted negative feedback. As is the system turns
good sellers into captive sellers, needing a NPB to save them from nightmare
feedback, but at the extremely high cost of wasted time and tying up their items
for weeks. No buyer needs 7, 14 or 21 days to pay and should not be granted
an ability to push payment back this far.

The current system for cancellations and NPB simply needs reformed. Buyers need
to be able to cancel in select situations such as a pushy seller trying to gouge
them on handling/shipping or holding the order hostage refusing to cancel, a
threat of pay or get an NPB. Sellers likewise need protection from the long
tied up inventory, or negative despite granting buyer an unwarranted cancellation.
The above should reduce 90% of all problem orders to being resolved in days,
not weeks, and all parties moving on largely unaffected. Bad sellers and buyers
will still get weeded out, and good ones will thrive.

Thanks for considering,
Jonathan

This is a fair point and I will take it into consideration in the future. I
apologize that I didn't directly contact you.

Appreciate the understanding....wasn't directed at you specifically, but
the general way things work around here of late.

But of course that is just one of the many notices that members really would
benefit from but never get

I agree with this also, but setting up a notification system is well beyond the
purview of CAs/IAs and requires action from the site's side. I simply don't
have time to individually notify 700,000+ people of changes because to do so
I would have to send exactly that many PMs. There is no system in place for
mass-notification, even though members have asked for it for a long time.

Not to contradict, but BrickLink has everyone's registered emails, so how
hard is it to send an update to those? Granted I don't have a million users
to notify, but even a novice website owner can do that, it's typically built
into any domain control panel, or at least the option to activate it is there.
Plus there are services out there for mailing lists too, and could easily be
used if the BL server can't handle it. And then what about the LEGO user
agreement pop-up we all saw a few months ago? Why not use that function again
for a pop-up that we all should hear about? Guess I just don't see how excuses
are valid given this is the internet with a million way to stay in contact.
Probably not your department, but someone behind the scenes surely can do it
as it has been done before.

Please appropriately respect and value the user.

I have always tried to do that and I appreciate knowing where I fail.

Again not you, but the collective "site powers" failing to take actions to keep
all in the loop. Just a request we "all" get the respect of a notice, not the
few digging around in the forum.

Please upload the images to the appropriate parts with a note to add them as

Never would have noticed this response if not for a chance reload from my browsing
history and seeing the original post was "discarded". Would seem appropriate

But of course that is just one of the many notices that members really would
benefit from but never get, especially important site changes/matters. Notifications
on so many levels (especially the broad spectrum ones) is the #1 important issue
I think BrickLink needs to implement in it's many needed changes. Users
need to be informed proactively, not only via their own deep digging in the largely
useless forum.

Like the recent 'nougat' color changes....that was a no brainier to ASK
THE COMMUNITY, not the forum, the community (.ie. the site user base) before
implementing. Or at the very least to alert us that it has happened (or will).
What company changes basic function/aspects of the site without a walk-through
or notice of what the updates are?

Imagine PayPal changing the menu to all new lingo and no proactive info what
it means or used to be (just burred in their community questions area). The
forum is NOT the place for this to take place. Very few who have a busy life
(think most sellers) wastes valuable time using it anymore. There are the dedicated
few to help with legit questions, but it is mostly time waste material, not the
place for important site announcements. Those should be in an email or site
banner once they happen, like all user-valuing sites out there use.

Please appropriately respect and value the user. Remember, we are YOUR product.

Honestly I think all items with an inventory should have the "Complete" "Incomplete"

and especially in regards to the price guide/history aspect too for both buyers

Of late I am regularly getting spammed through the wanted list feature for minifigures
listed either under the wrong listing or as an incomplete "new" figure.

With the current system all figures are under the same either "new" or "used"
condition heading, but unlike sets can be listed from a few parts (everything
missing but the torso and head) or complete per the correct inventory of that
figure. This not only opens sellers to "acceptably" list wrong items, or worse
in a deceptive manner (such as the new Loki sh033a in the old Loki sh033), by
simply adding a comment like "missing cape" or "new style cape".

Clearly these are not what a buyer wants to be notified of through their wanted
list settings. Such incomplete or incorrect items also have a negative effect
toward useful sales info, or even current items for sale info. WHish is what
leads to my suggestion....

Please, can we have the same "Complete" and "Incomplete" sub-conditions for
figures like we have for sets?

This will effectively require sellers to list items accurately. If they are
not the exact item they must be listed as "Incomplete" and can then either be
excluded from search and history, or reported for misuse. Figures are a large
part of the value of a set, so if a set can't be listed without a sub-condition,
it would follow that figures (which to many are the most collectable items LEGO
makes) should have the same requirement.

Thanks for considering.

The originally approved part is part of a baggie of assorted accessories (the reason for the sub-part designation of "j"). The correct part would be this one as the box has a heart in the middle and does not come prepacked with a host of other accessories. Item was confirmed as the "hart bow" via sealed set contents.

There may be an action for this that is similar and I don't know about it, but
here is my random suggestion anyway.

I operate out of two locations, one location has my personal collection (home),
and my apartment has my store. I commonly visit home and need items from my store
at my apartment. I believe it could be nice to have the ability to shop in your
own store and place an order with your self, that way you have a nice record
of everything you want to take from your own store and it would remove it from
your own store in one action. OF COURSE!! you would not be able to feedback
yourself, and this transaction would not effect the price guide, it would have
to be a separate system. For example, you build your cart in your own store,
and on the check out page select "personal order" so that your "order" is not
technically a Bricklink order. I hope this makes sense. And if something like
this exist, please let me know because I will use it like crazy!

Henry

Also consider that ideas that are good to implement are done to either correct
an issue or affect a good portion of the population. I don't think your idea
does.

you are asking for Bricklink to put something in place for the masses that could
be solved with a bit of leg work on some of the few that would require it.

Actually I think many (if not the majority) of sellers would use the feature
as we are not just sellers, but builders and fans as well. We often need part
we have on hand in our shops, but to manually remove them takes so much time
it is a big pain. I'd gladly pay 3% on my "order" to have this way of easily
browsing my store (especially using a set inventory wanted list) and removing
items with a nice page showing what exactly I need to pull for myself.

Being as this idea has been brought up here many times by multiple posters gives
reason to believe there are lots who want/would use it. I think the simple addition
of a "personal order" button making a seller able to place the order would be
a relatively simple and a great tweak to the current system.

Hi,
already exists.
"Separate order payment status from order status" on your orders received page:
http://www.bricklink.com/orderSettings.asp

Regards
Ronald

I know about that function, but if used it would still leave a problem with having
to mark an order as "packed" when not really packed to prevent additions once
payment is initiated. I can see how the separate status boxes can help, but
at the same time it defeats the purpose of using the correct status for where
the order is in the placing/filling/packing/shipping process.

Now, if a payment status (when separate) of something other than "none" blocked
additions it would work as needed. Anyone know if this is the case?

type in the Orders Received Display? Or a setting for font color/bold for each?

It would be nice to be able to change for each type (mainly so I can make snailmail
payment types a noticeable color, so I instantly know why a payment is taking
a while to complete).

I also woudn't mind this option.

On a side note I use the "note on order" for keeping payment types straight.
So far it has worked well, but perhaps you already us that for something else.

Brickstore is very useful for wanted lists and managing orders placed. I just
used it to order in another complete Corner Candy model (for another buyer) by
deleting parts from the original list as I placed orders. (You can do this on
BL as well but it is not nearly as handy or instnat). It also helped to keep
my costs straight for those parts as I ordered other items as well.

I've yet to use it for inventory update, but so far have found it to be a very
useful tool, even if not perfect.

could be done or would it cause too many timeout errors? So, in my case, I would
want to part out the Minifig Heads Category. Go through & adjust the cost & quantity

this is as easy to do as I state it. Just a suggestion. I would think it could

It would probably drain a lot of BL resource and time out depending on category.
It would be cool though if you could do it offline with BrickStore....but that
isn't likely to happen considering the lack of updates to the software.

Alternately you (or someone else) *might* be able to create a way to pull the
BL catalog category info into an XML, which can be loaded into BrickStore and
then added to your inventory when you input quantities....just a thought.

It is typical for about 25% of buyers to mark an order as paid. I would like
to be able to mark an order "paid" for those times when a buyer pays but does
not check the "paid" checkbox. Currently, if I mark an order as "paid" and then
later mark the order as "packed" the BOLD look of the currency amount goes back
to plain text. Only if I mark an item as "shipped" does the currency amount
becoome "bold" again.

This would improve the orders received page to better reflect an order's status.
David

Hi David,

Does this work for you?
http://www.bricklink.com/orderEdit.asp

Just change the status to "Paid" (when paid) or "Not Paid" (if you need to change
it back for some reason) and the payment should show in bold even when in "Packed"
state.

I thought of this this morning.. How about a Promotions tab in the stores. This
would allow a store to advertise their special sales and promotions to the general
buyers.

ie. Spend so much and get a free lego please put lala in your order notes..

Right now the only place to announce these sales is on the forum but this of
course misses everyone that may come to the store that doesn't visit the forums...

Brion

I use this
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1278

Bret

True I use that as well but if you are running something date specific, or needing
additional info it doesn't always give enough room.. a Promotions page would
also give those offering contests and things like that to list them separate.
You could always list this stuff on your splash page I assume... A promotions
page would just be a standardizes location to find that stores deals.. You could
even mention single set sales on there. daily sales ect..

This way every buyer would know if you want to see if the store has any special
deals.. go to the promotions page..

Brion

There's already a "Sales" page, after clicking "Show All Items on Sale."

True but that doesn't allow you to do a get this free if you spend this sort
of sale.. Or spend this and get $$$ credit sort of sale.

Brion

Why not add an extra page to your splash page and then in the store banner tell
people to see it for store promotions/sales and more info? Might work for your
needs though this does make a standard page for all stores.

Based on the discussion raised in the thread (http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=102699)
regarding Brickset usage of BrickLink's inventory data and pictures, I think
its approriate to discuss whether BrickLink should create a referral program
to draw new users and increase sales.

In times past, any suggestion regarding the "business of BrickLink" would have
been ignored, and everyone would have respected Admin's right to privacy and
run the business his way. Now that we have a new Admin, one who is also very
familiar with e-commerce, I think this should be seriously considered.

I'm not suggesting the financial structure of the program at this time, as that
should be designed by Admin, should he decide to proceed. However, as a seller
I would consider an additional fee - like 0.5% - on new member purchases drawn
through the affiliate program.

As we have seen by example on Brickset, both eBay and Amazon have affiliate programs
to draw click-through purchases. These are a very successful business model,
and used all around the world.

I would also like to make a special request to our new Admin to comment. You
have been on the periphery of our community for a long time, but now that you
are at the center, I think it will help us get to know you, and what management
style you plan to use with BrickLink. I'll respect it either way, but it would
be nice if you post something.

Thanks. -Jason

Sorry, but I do not want to have to pay more in fees. One of the reasons BrickLinks's
fees have been kept low is in part due to not having a referral program. Maybe
if this could be a seller opt-in service with their own level of referral percentage
paid it would be fine.

Had to vote no. Honestly this will not work as most sellers will then just a
use a generic comment (such as "used" or even "like new" regardless of condition)
so they can list faster. If people are listing junk, making them add a comment
is not going to stop them. They'll just come up with a new way to abuse the
system.

Hey, don't get me wrong, both colors are nice. But the combination is odd, and
the permanence of it; it is so mind-numbingly persistent I can't take it anymore.

We already have the option to choose background colors in our storefront. I suggest
implementation of the option, when logged in to your account, of being able to
set general site background colors.

Right now as I type this suggestion I have the green and light blue in my face,
right now, laughing at me, mocking me. I need to change the color or I may go
crazy lol.

Since the green and light blue is apparently the long term, time-tested, tried
and true official popularly recognized colors of Bricklink it would still be
there when not logged in (and for all those people who never set their own color).
But can we please have the option to change these colors!? PLEASE

I am partial to shades of brown and soft warmer tones like orange.
Can't... take... all this... green... anymore... ehhhh (gasp, fall on floor).

That field accepts HTML, so you can make it bigger if you want. (See my store's

<font size="+2"> big text </font>

Or to make it use less of your characters you can just put a numerical value
of 1-7 (small to big), <font size=5> is what I use in my store. 4 is
standard font size.

True, but I believe (without looking it up to make sure) that this would not
have the desired effect when the user is already using a different font-size
by changing their browser settings. I agree that the savings on characters is
good (that field is very limited) but I wonder if the three extra characters
are worth using an absolute font size instead of a relative one.

Marc.

Yes, but I find that most always need those 3 extra characters. Guess it
just depends on each users needs or preference.
