needs to be broken up into 2 separate entries. Currently we only have one for
a lime printing. I have been listing legs recently and came across 4 of these
legs. Three of them had lime printing, the fourth has bright green printing(verified
as Lego). Searching for "Buzz Lightyear" figures, I came across minifig toy004
from which the picture seems to show bright green printing, yet inventory says
it has the legs with lime print.
My guess is that it hasn't been discovered yet that there is a bright green
version, so all the figures with it are being inventoried as having the lime
version.
|
The image for toy004 is a bit oversaturated I think which leads to it being a
bit deceptive.
Here is a toy004 taken from set 30073
The green on the legs and the helmet parts do differ slightly because the print
on the legs isn't so thick so shows some of the white through it

When it is a multi-colored SOA - do you select the color that has the most % of being in the part? Or should it be a N/A color?
|
We have both ways in that category so far but there have only been 2 examples
previously.
This is one with N/A as the color:
* | | BA140pb01 Stickered Assembly 10 x 4 x 1 with Black and Yellow Danger Stripes Pattern (Sticker) - Set 622 - 2 Black Plate 2 x 10, 1 Black Plate 2 x 2, 1 Yellow Plate 2 x 4, 1 Yellow Vehicle, Mudguard 2 x 4 with Arch Smooth, 1 Yellow Vehicle, Mudguard 2 x 4 with Arch Studded Parts: Stickered Assembly |
But this was added as red:
* | | BA107pb01 Stickered Assembly 8 x 8 x 1 with '14 CHALLENGE' and Ferrari Logo Pattern (Sticker) - Set 8143 - 1 Slope 10 6 x 8, 2 Tile 1 x 8 Parts: Stickered Assembly |
We should decide one way or the other though - N/A makes the most sense I think

I would say take a look at this proposed page and see if it, in your opinion,
properly addresses this issue. If it does not, then offer suggestions for improving
it:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2479
The page is proposed now, but is expected to become official in about a week.
The purpose of the page is to determine the proper category in situations like
the one you mention.
Does it do its job, or does it need work?
|
Under the new definitions,
could fall under either plate modified or hinge. Should we make an exception
for handles? Or should we handle these cases by defaulting to the existing categorization?
|
"When in use a hinge needs to connect to another hinge to make it a hinge"
Does that apply to all hinges in use in sets?
Maybe the hinge category could somehow be defined based on that if so?
Plates with handles are modified plates. A handle doesn't make it a hinge
because it connects to other parts and moves. If that were the case plates with
clips could be included as well.

Only 4 of them are! For example, the one that says United States is not there!
|
That could be added to the sticker over assembly category of the catalog:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=582
But it would involve someone carefully removing the bricks together with the
sticker attached and taking a picture to get it approved.
Until someone does that you may not find it for sale unless someone lists it
as a custom item in their store.

|
I would say it needs to be something in the titles, not in the part number.
We would need something very short because torso assemblies where some parts
occur already have crammed titles. So a code, of sorts, like BAM. It will need
to be something not used in any other part titles or numbers.
Having all that in mind, what do you think about adding the letters DMO
(standing for Dual MOlded) to the titles of dual-molded parts?
This would include those parts that come in similar printed/molded patterns
that are not currently distinguished with separate catalog entries.
This will allow two things: finding all dual molded parts in the catalog by search
and excluding dual molded parts from searches.
|
Anything to distinguish the Dual MOlded (DMO) from Non-Dual Molded would help.
Although I am not sure people would know what DMO stands for outside of this
thread. I understand the need for a unique acronym.
DCM could be another acronym for Dual Color Mold if you want a 3 letter acronym,
since the O in DMO is not that fitting. This way if they ever do a Triple Color
Mold (TCM) you could distinguish it easily.

or MCM for Multi Color Mould to cover any future eventuality.
I changed them when I changed the legs and torsos around based on the theory
Robert mentioned up the thread but I'm glad it was brought up and is being

Part number is 3023pb01, you can see clearly in the picture that the sticker
is applied to the 1x2 plate and not the mudguard.
|
Here is the thread from when it was removed from the inventory:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=253659
The sticker now forms this assembly:

So the sticker is in the correct place but it covers more than 1 part (admittedly
only just)
|
The only problem is, because that is just barely over, a majority of people will
have the 1x2 plate with with the sticker in a lot rather than the entire assembly...
|
True but that leaves the sticker open to being damaged or getting gunk stuck
to it.
There's no reason why you can't sell it as an individual part but it
doesn't need it's own catalog entry as we are now happily accepting sticker
over assembly entries.

Yes, that's the plan at the moment.
|
Then the item numbers need to be standardized (or re-standardized). Some of
them were changed somewhat recently for reasons that are not discernible to me:
[G=3843]
[G=G3844]
[G=3845]
[G=G3846]
[G=G3847]
I can't see what purpose the "G" suffix serves.
|
Its added when there is a part with the same number.
| It has been inconsistently
applied and it prevents the item in question from being found when "3847" is
the search string.
|
Once they are classed as sets they can have a suffix like sets and the problem
is solved.
Then they also can have catalog entries for the boxes added for them

This is much better, thank you. In fact as already mentioned in a previous post
I would go as far as to breakdown even more minifig parts into their own category?
However the only thing I would say is that some of these category names in the
store front are becoming so long that it initially looks like duplicate categories
for the same thing what with the end cut off especially to a novice.
I mentioned previously about giving Minifigure Parts their own section/heading
so they don’t need to have the word ‘Minifigure’ repeated in front of every category
but if they are to remain under the parts category maybe consider shortening
Minifigure to Minifig but also is there any reason that some of these categories
can’t be altered with similar examples to below?:-
‘Minifig Legs’ instead of ‘Minifigure Legs Assembly’
‘Minfig Legs Decorated’ instead of ‘Minifigure Legs Assembly Decorated’
‘Minfig Legs Loose’
‘Minifig Hips’
‘Minifig Torso’ instead of ‘Minifigure Torso Assembly’
‘Minifig Torso Decorated’ instead of ‘Minifigure Torso Assembly Decorated’
‘Minifig Torso Armless’
‘Minifig Arms’
‘Minifig Hands’
Or would doing this sort of thing mess up the categories in other ways with regards
to the category breakdown of Torsos etc?
|
The word minifig has been removed from the catalog altogether so will not be
making a return but I do agree that the categories in store are not ideal when
they have longer names.
Category trees have been discussed, for example here:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1168807
But whether anything will come of that idea I don't currently know.
