Extremely cool! The marbling is barely there, but let me know if you'd like
to trade anything for a Cylinder 3 x 3 x 5 with Handle!

I would, but unfortunately I only collect 2x4’s, but don’t tell anyone

I organise my stock by colour, sub divided by categories for used, soon to do
the same with new, works for me.

Only manually add used stock and odd new items, most new by auto part out, reuse
larger boxes for shipping but I buy new large letter boxes in two sizes.

Had to add minimum order value due to far too many low value orders that I was
losing money on.

I have no minimum, but to not lose money on a low value sale, all sales below
€10 pay an extra €0.50.
This still gives buyers the option to buy that one part and if my math is correct
should not really lose me money.....

I'm worried of that as well. But hey maybe it'll rope in repeat customers!

If your stock is big enough and your service is good, people will come back.

My first store storage were big bins with zip lock baggies inside with parts.
So a bin for all 1x bricks, a bin for 2x bricks, one for tiles and other parts
etc.
Inside each baggie are all colors 1x1 brick etc. if you have more of one color
1x1 brick give it its own baggie..

This way I could easily expand my system, if I got more of the 1x bricks, I could
make a new bin for the 1x6 and up bricks.
More weird parts, just add a bin.
This system can grow with your store and I find it very flexible

The smaller parts can be put in a low bin or in drawers, you have to look what
fits you and the space you have best.

Right now my store is very small, I try and only sell items I like, but I still
have lots of bulk bricks.
Sooner or later I will have to add those again and take my bins out of storage

I add everything, who knows what might bring a buyer to my store.

Thank you Stuart

Some sellers have a problem with dropshippers. I do not - a sale is a sale. You
protect yourself by shipping to the PayPal address.

If your buyer is who I think it is, they will order from you again. I've
had 5 orders from him with no issues.

It depends on the set, but for the rare boxes I would not flatten them.
Though this does create big problems of storing and shipping them........

Where else can you buy rare LEGO test bricks?

I think there is a very big market for monochrome minifigures. So far, these
are considered custom items.
I would like to suggest establishing a separate category for monochrome minifigures
in the "standard version" of all colors.

For example "Minifigure Monochrome - white".

I look forward to your estimation and feedback

I think with the increase in wiping torsos and parts to make monochrome figures
adding monochrome figures to the catalog would be a bad idea.

On top of this, I'm pretty sure the main objective behind the catalog is
that it is a representation of the parts that are officially sold by Lego. While
they do sell parts to make monochrome minifigures, they are not sold as such,
hence why they are not listed in the standard catalog and require custom listings.
If they were to do this, it could open a can of worms for other requests.

For a mosaic, you could use the 1x1 plates in Very Light (Bluish) Gray to extend

Don't mix the old and newer shades of gray in one build, unless your intention
is to roughen up the look. They are not lighter or darker, just warmer / yellower
/ aged more.

Thanks for the help!

Am I just not managing to find the correct entry or is their justification for

It is possible these were UK printed ones, at that time they had their own factory
for certain parts.
It would be nice if you had the box that goes with it.

About adding them, maybe just put in the listing the fact that the font is different?
And add your own picture...

My 2 cents

There is nothing holding you from uploading 3003old, 3002old and 3001old under

These extra listings were only made to make it easier for old set restorers to

See picture, both are 3001, but the trans-black has thin walls while the trans-clear
has thick walls.
Both are still 2x4 bricks, like how humans will always be part of the great ape

without inner supports but there is no seperate entry for those. So why 3003old?
I do not know. Clearly it raises more questions than answers.

The inner supports talked about are the ribs on the thin sides, the old bricks
had thick walls.
I think you mixed up the cross supports with those.
Maybe come back to LEGO more

Anyway, the 3003old does have a function for the older thick walled 3003 bricks.
But as the OP points out, there are still thick walled bricks being made.
Especially in trans colors.

I would add the new 3003 thick walled bricks under 3003, not 3003old.

Question for all you purists

3003 has inside supports, 3003old doesn't - no problem with that

The trans coloured ones (i have trans-green to hand), do not have the internal
supports, but are treated at 3003 and not 3003old, as they are still being produced.

Surely this is incorrect

Can someone explain why bricks modelled as 3003old are being labelled as 3003
- and how do you explain that to someone if they wanted to add a red brick to
the catalogue!

Thanks

Yes, that's correct. Teup explains it:

"The fact that parts are sometimes in a place where you didn't
expect it, will always remain. The cost of the change on the other hand would
be quite big, for sellers like me - both in terms of memory and in terms of storage.

If there would be significant changes, it could change my storage alot and cause
a domino effect where, in an extreme case of changing even parts like these,
I'd have to redesign my entire store layout and hope that it will all still
fit."

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1113085

Some stores are organized entirely by the BrickLink catalog and changes in the
catalog can have drastic effects on such storage systems.

Thank you, I thought as much

I understand the catalog problem, but is it because large sellers have items

Serious question.

Maxx

Thanks for the headsup! And I agree with yorbrick that it's ok if this takes
time.

It has taken time . . . 20 years of it. Categorizing items is a topic
that has been discussed going back nearly to the founding of the site.

With written category definitions finally official on the site for the first
time in 2020, the time has come for action. We took some action on October 1st,
moving over 500 items. Now we plan to take further action with the support of
the community.

This is going to be a puzzle and quite a mess for me, and other catagory-based
sorters as well

Indeed it will be and I apologize for that. The "it will be inconvenient for
sellers" argument has meant that in the past parts have rarely been moved once
they landed in the catalog - even if the categorizations didn't make sense
in hindsight.

We're trying to minimize the inconvenience, but handing the next generation
of LEGO fans the same catalog we got is not fair. Because then they'll
complain that the catalog makes little sense in some areas. But they'll
get used to it and then complain when things are moved. And pass the same poorly-organized
catalog down to the generation following them. Someone has to end that
cycle.

Now that we have written category definitions our goal is to make a little more
sense of its organization. We're not moving things around because it's
fun, believe me.

) it's better as well to rip off the bandaid at once

I agree. It would be nice to start over and get everything perfect from the
start. Ain't the way the world works, though. Everything in life is a process.

Maybe ask one of the sellers?

Well, does it work like that with LEGO pieces, catalogs, etc. Thanks so much
for any help!!

It depends on the part and the kind of mistake made.

If it enhances the look of the brick or minifig, it does make the item more valuable.

See marbled LEGO pieces, these are mistakes, LEGO throws these away or remelts
them.
But collectors pay big bucks for them.
Printed minifig heads in the wrong color can make a nice bit of cash.
Marbled brick, if the colors are nice are also collectable.

Yes, I think ofcourse that 2x4 brick is the best!

But, cheaper and still having a lot of surface area to check colors against is
the 1x2 brick.
1x1 plates are tiny and the surface has a stud on it, so harder to compare colors
to.

Yes, go to a store that has a lot of colors and buy the parts you think will
help you.
A lot of us have done this over the years, some with 2x4 bricks, but you can
choose any part you like and comes in a wide variety of colors.

  Hello.

I have a huge dilemma.

Yes, I know that I can do what I like when it comes to my own LEGO, and I really
NEED to find out the best way to get 2 specific parts coloured to the colour

I've built a Harry Potter "Knight Bus" in the same manner as the Creator
"London Bus" set, and this has been 99% successful, with the exception of this
part:-

Part No: 24599 Name: Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
*
24599 Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
Parts: Brick, Round

This element NEEDS to be in Dark Purple

As I'm based in the UK, I really need to find the nearest and best product
to use to get this covered in Dark Purple (paint, or even some kind of wrap/lacquer)

Other than trying to get someone to 3-D print one, I'm stuck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

You can search under Matchbox White Van cutomisers and restorers, they paint
plastic all the time.
Or any other construction set builder.

Show us when it is done

really match) the model shop put all their Maersk that was not needed to maintain
existing models into the PAB bins. A couple Brits bought it all and ended up
reselling it to me.

Which is why I've built quite a few models in Maersk. I've enough to
make table scrap doodles with it even.

Yes, I remember those great models and thanks for the explanation.

My parts came from Denmark, but must be from a similar origin.

True, but there is a difference between normal bricks and a fence...

But Miniland sounds plausible.

Maybe there should be a new color in the Modulex color chart?

Missed this one

Yes, it is more like normal LEGO yellow.

Can you tell if it is ABS or CA?

Recently found sort of, a normal yellow Modulex LEGO logo 2x4 brick!

With the help of TLV parts, see also picture by Yoav.

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=Mx1142L&name=Modulex%20Brick%202%20x%204%20(Lego%20on%20studs)&category=%5BModulex,%20Brick%5D#T=S&C=137&O={"color":137,"rpp":"10","iconly":0}

Go buy them while they are still cheap

I have a possibly strange fascination with co-branded Lego products. For some
reason the logo'd parts especially get me going lol. So imagine my surprise
and excitement when I was going through the catalog and found this:

Part No: 3010pb223 Name: Brick 1 x 4 with Red 'Kellogg's' Pattern
*
3010pb223 Brick 1 x 4 with Red 'Kellogg's' Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated

Being the biggest cereal company (or at least very close to General Mills), this
is a quintessential branded brick for me. But I see it has no sets to its name,
and not even a release date. It's a shame that none are for sale because
I want one really bad in case you couldn't tell! My best and obvious guess
is it was a cereal box promotional prize, but does anyone know anything for certain
about it?

Thanks,
Stephan

Looking at the part, the logo and pip on the side make it a 1970’s brick.
And in that time period Kelloggs did have a LEGO competition, maybe it came with
the price....

Was wondering if there was an easy way to get this info.

Depends on if you want parts released in sets or not.
3001 is one of the parts produced in the most colors not in sets.
But the 2x2 tile is used by LEGO in house and that must be the part that comes
in the most colors.....

Only specific colors can be trade marked, many of the LEGO colors were made/mixed
by the plastic suppliers like BASF and Bayer in Germany.
These samples were send to LEGO and they approved them.

After that, LEGO tried to be consistent with their colors, but we all know how
that worked out...

If you are asking if you can use LEGO yellow for your own art, I don’t think
anyone would care.
But if you are asking to make LEGO parts in LEGO yellow, that is counterfitting.

Maybe ask again, but explain why you wish to know.

Does it classify as '3011old'?

You can add it to your listing, there are a few collectors, but not enough to
warrant a seperate 3011old listing.
And if you want to do it right, you also need to list the logo inside the studs

I wrongly assumed that Mursten was a place, like Grangemouth, or Wrexham!

Mursten literally translates to wallbrick, Dutch muursteen.

In Colors, Nathan123 writes:
Lego Mursten is referring to the slotted bricks that came after the automatic

There were companies that made the slotted bricks under Lego license...GEAS in
Sweden comes to mind.

In Colors, brick.bewdy writes:

by Bayer?

In Colors, Stuart9 writes:
Many, if not all the Grangemouth, were made by some employees producing their
own bricks without permission from Lego or their own company.

They are said to have used leftover or floor sweeping materials but that may
not have been strictly true, who knows.

Howdy. I've been collecting for a few years now. Love 'em all! Do you
know of Bricklink - it takes a while to become familiar, but if you'd like
to invest some time there, they would happily answer any of your questions.

Mursten, Bayer, BASF, Grangemouth, Wrexham, and other manufacturers were all
contracted by LEGO to produce plastics for their bricks. LEGO provided them with
2x4 molds as test examples.
I'm not sure as to how they all aquired the molds they did, but the Mursten
ABCD bricks are in relation to a clutch test - how firmly they grip to another
piece.' A' being the tightest clutch and 'D' being the loosest.
Due to those test examples LEGO now use the 'C' as the brick of choice.
Modulex is an Architectural scale brick - being an ignorant Aussie, I'm not
familiar with it exactly. They're ultra-cute, that's all I know about
that.
The milky, marbled, and semi-transparent bricks were all produced by the aforementioned
companies because they were pumping coloured plastics into the molds they were
provided with without cleaning the injection pipes before adding another coloured
plastic - in the case of the milky/semi-transparent, they were not adding enough
colour to the mold?
I will do a quick research on prices for you regarding the bricks I've offered
you.

I can tell you that I have never seen a double A, B, C, or D brick being offered
for sale, let alone a complete set. Having said that, does not mean they do not
exist.

If you're not in a rush, I'm happy to get you more information!

Part No: 4150 Name: Tile, Round 2 x 2
*
4150 Tile, Round 2 x 2
Parts: Tile, Round

With "X" bottom in Light Bluish Gray in some 2019 sets. I mixed together many
sets so unfortunately, I can't trace which one it's from. But it's
definitely a set from this year. According to the catalog, the part died out
in 2014.

Such things happen, some factory dig to old stock
but as Stuart9 said you need to have undoubtful proove.

Some example

Part No: 4085b Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with U Clip Thin (Vertical Grip)
*
4085b Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with U Clip Thin (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified
Used in 1980-1991 tne gap an agin reappear between 2004-2017
and recent one

Part No: 42445 Name: Bar 12L with 1 x 2 Plate End Solid Studs and 1 x 1 Round Plate End
*
42445 Bar 12L with 1 x 2 Plate End Solid Studs and 1 x 1 Round Plate End
Parts: Bar
2002-2013 and the suddenly in one 2019 set

Well, even if I have proof, maybe it is so rare that it's not worth complicating
the catalog for.

I parted out 2 copies of a lot of sets. Strangely, I have 4, and there is no
set in my list that contains 2. That means that either two different sets
with 1 each must have had them (unlikely) or they appeared in:

Set No: 21316 Name: The Flintstones
*
21316-1 (Inv) The Flintstones
732 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2019
Sets: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)

(17 per set in total)
and/or

Set No: 21318 Name: Tree House
*
21318-1 (Inv) Tree House
3020 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2019
Sets: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)

(3 per set in total)

...alongside the new type. It looks like they really just mixed in some old stock,
probably in the Flintstones one.

1) For parts, the color of the image may now be specified by adding a comma and
the BrickLink part number after the Item Number:

Part No: 4085d Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
*
4085d Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Blue}

Part No: 4085d Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
*
4085d Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Medium Blue}

Part No: 4085d Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
*
4085d Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Dark Bluish Gray}

Part No: 4085d Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
*
4085d Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Light Bluish Gray}

2) For sets, instructions and original boxes, the suffix is only needed when
it is not "-1":

Set No: 493 Name: Space Command Center (Flatplate version)
*
493-1 (Inv) Space Command Center (Flatplate version)
161 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 1979
Sets: Space: Classic Space

Set No: 493 Name: Space Command Center (Craterplate version)
*
493-3 (Inv) Space Command Center (Craterplate version)
145 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 1979
Sets: Space: Classic Space

Is there more colours I'm not aware of?

There are two different M logo bricks, the old ones and the newer ones.

There are even a few very rare colors found, like dark red and a bluish green.

See picture for the standard colors, row one are the LEGO logo bricks, the middle
are the old M logo bricks etc.

Transparent M logo may not exist, I am still hoping to find one.

2. white, light gray, black, terracotta, buff, red , orange, lemon, pastel green,
pastel blue, pink

3. Light bluish gray, charcoal, light orange, light yellow, medium blue, aqua
green, pink, violet

Thank you - it has to be very rare?
I know what I got for the last brick I sold to a local buyer!
Somehow I want more for my last one.
It would assist 3001 collectors more than any other brick?

It looks like this is going to be the work of the devil.
Just mention your price and look if a collector is interested.
Stop playing the devil like this.

I know this brick is rare!

Rare is a weird word, most 2x4 collectors I know have one, do we need more than
one?
I had some rare bricks 3 years ago, now they are mainstream.....

I don't want to be an advocate, but it seems to be inherant?

You are just finding out what this brick might be worth and that is a tough question
to answer.
It is more rare than trans green, I only priced it so high because no one has
one in their store.

All I want do here, is have one fair trade!

No problem, you can ask around, I try and be as fair as I can, if we do not end
up trading, no problem

I would estimate a flat silver 2x4 brick is about €50 to €70, but as with all
rare items, it only takes one buyer to get you €100.

Now, would I pay €50 for this brick, no, I own one and that is enough.
Would I trade for one, sure, I like having as many as possible different colors
of 2x4 in my shop

Have you read the reviews, it is not the best print, colors do not compare to

The 3001old we have are without Cross Supports, but seems newer than the one
pictured, as they don't have the old LEGO logo. They come from old sets from
the 70's that we part outed. The 3001old period ranges from 1954 to 2006
(though I doubt for the last year, I think it ended sooner).

We had an issue with a customer, who already owns some 3001old with the old logo,
and newer 3001old he ordered in our store.

Should we put a notice on the item page? Should the 3001old reference be splitted
into 2 references?

Opinions welcome!

*
44567 Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on Side (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Hinge

First we added the definitive non-grooved variant, which turned out to be the
most recent one.

And here is the really important line in this message:

the A and B versions of this part were just switched today

So if you've labeled bags containing this variant you will need to reverse
this numbering.

Renumbering is never taken lightly, but in this case we felt we had to do it
because of 2 other entries added with nearly the same situation - early grooved
version followed by a non-grooved version. Quite the opposite from what we know
to be true with standard tiles.

Thanks for your patience. Resetting the numbers to reflect the correct chronological
order will save a lot of misunderstanding in the future.

Thank you Russell for your effort to keep our site the best, it is apreciated

At the time that this set came out, there was a lot of demand for just the cars,
that in this one case, (IE Cars movie characters), where a new form of minifigures.
There was never any solution to this, and sellers have been forced to sell the
parts only, or list the cars as incomplete sets ever since. Buyers are left confused,
and not able to find what they want.

I totally agree with this, those cars need to be minifigs.

So, since you have asked my opinion... , in case something similar ever comes
up again in the future, these type of characters should have a way to be listed.
I don't have the answer, as all this catalog stuff is beyond me, I'm

You are right, these are the two medium violets.

BrickLink makes no distinction between these colors.
One is medium blueish and the other is medium reddish violet.

I have no clue what you mean... it would be nice to see it with the "cosnsists

Or are you suggesting I search the catalog for box? Because then I'd need

The box is not part of the inventory, because it is a box, listed as a box.

If you go to the set page, in the right top corner it also says instructions

The Roman Catholic church taught that going to war against the "Infidels" was

The US constitution also allows people to not believe in religion,

people to go to church or read the bible.

To look at it from the other side, what if a seller was an atheist.
Would a believer in religion be offended if they got a short message

Just wondering if there would be any different reaction from buyers
concerning the atheist message vs the bible message?

Kev

Yes, you are missing something.

Say I get an order, batch 1 and 2, I pick them, send the invoice and the buyer
adds more batches.
Now I need a system to show what batches I allready procesed/picked.

My simple solution, I fill it in behind the order received, this way when I open
the order, it says batch X.
Meaning the last batch I picked was batch X.
I do the same for picked orders, I list a P for all parts picked or /P so I know
I still miss a (few) parts.

Larger orders are also packed per batch, so I can easilly see what happened and
which batch I need to do xxx to the order

Not sure an extra box is needed, but as long as I can choose not to use it, why
not.

Thanks!

Just divide the euro ammount by the dollar ammount?
