So maybe a checkbox that can be selected that would be in the same area as Retain,
Stockroom and Delete. One that's named "No Discount" which when selected,
ensures the item is exempt from being on sale.

I'd like that as well.

In Catalog, BrickBros20 writes:
  Hi all!

We are always adding parts to our store, and currently have a sale going on almost
all parts.

However, there are a few specific items that we don't want out sale to apply
for (Sets, minifigures, and some hard to find parts). After each session of adding
parts, we have to go through and check all of the category boxes, and then uncheck
the sets and minifigures. But for parts, they are usually in one of the categories
that get checked, and put on sale. Because of this, we then have to go and manually
remove the sale for that item, along with the rest of the parts that we don't
want on sale.

Is there someway to avoid the hassle of changing them back manually? Maybe some
way to lock the price, or make it so that the sales never apply to it?

Thanks!

I have one and it's quite accurate but you need to establish a baseline weight.
I use 50 parts as my baseline. Then I can increment in any amount and get the
right count. This would only be useful if buyers are buying more than 50 of
a part. It wouldn't work for 2x4 bricks unless you counted 50 and then did
batches of 50 every time. It would overload if you put too many (say you were
counting 150 or more)

Some very expensive scales are programmable and have a parts memory but surely
nothing that can hold thousands of parts in dozens of colours. I wouldn't
waste money on a really high end scale.

Here's the one I have. I'm happy with it and it wasn't a huge investment.
I only use it to count LUGBULK though. LUG members are less likely to get upset
if they're missing a part of two.

scale to help be more efficient pulling orders? Or to help with adding inventory
more quickly? Thanks for the feedback.

If that's truly an issue, change BL Dark Green to Forest Green.

Then LEGO Dark Green is just regular Green on BL.

Unless there's a better suggestion than Forest Green.

In Colors, tEoS writes:
It took me a bit to figure out what you were trying to propose, but now it makes
more sense.

BL Green = Lego Dark Green

Therefore the BL Dark Green identifier could lead to confusion as more traffic
comes from other sources, especially now that BL is an official Lego market.

But I'm specifically talking about Dark Green.
We can't have one colour name referring to two different colours!
All the other colour observations are a distraction from this one single issue.

Either BL or TLG needs to change Dark Green to a different name.

This is an interesting topic. One one hand I'm reading that people want
the catalog to be accurate. However, nobody has considered what most people (not
BL experts) will identify that part as or how they will search for it.

In coral colour, I would be searching for coral. In dark turquoise, I would
be searching for seaweed. As it stands now, I wouldn't find that part in
coral. Perhaps an extended description or additional tag to include coral?

In Catalog, alcedoatthis writes:
  Hello Bricklinkers,

Some minutes ago, I found out that the "Coral" part (49577) is included in the
Plant Section of Bricklink, which is scientifically wrong. Coral is an Animal!

Please check additional information here:
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/coral.html

I wrote to customer service of Bricklink explaining this mistake. I hope they
change this part to the Animal Water section!

Best,

Rita

Voted yes.

I too have had a few customers asking where their packages are after explicitly
telling them before I shipped out that it could take longer than normal. One
buyer did reply back and say his package arrived and apologized for not being
more patient. Haven't got a negative or neutral yet but I'm sure you're
not the only one who has.

This warning should be on the feedback area AND on checkout. Buyers should see
this warning and maybe have to check the box that they have read and understood
that shipping delays are to be expected.

In Suggestions, Adjour writes:
I've been getting more and more messages from buyers wanting to know where
on earth their parcels are.

I've already gotten a neutral over this and I'm sure more are to come.
I know that allowing removals of these negs is a slippery slope so I wont go
there.

I'm suggesting that until the covid crisis is over that BL puts an extra
disclaimer on the feedback area explaining that postal delays are not our fault.

It doesn't even need to be permanent. Just something official. They aren't
reading our terms disclaimers.

Open to any input on this.

You can also add to your store and keep it closed. There are other sites for
personal inventory management if that's what your end goal is.

Use this page

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp

You can type a set number under part out value and see how much the pieces are
worth. It varies but most sellers won't part out unless it's 2x-3x the
cost of purchasing a set.

In Inventories, courpee writes:

This feature could have a usage limit too. For example, I could generate a coupon
code for 20% off and it would work for the first 10 orders.

In Suggestions, allenafol writes:
  Hi,

I think it would be great if you could generate a code for your store so people

This would be good for marketing on social media rather than having to issue
individual coupons.

Is there any chance this could be developed?

Thanks,

Allen.

Sorry, but I must say that I take offense at this statement. You are passing

There should be tools out on the internet (i.e. google maps) to maintain a map

Maybe you can be administrator to setup such a thing.

Privacy issue is solved by it being an opt in feature. I list my postal code
in my terms anyway.

Going back to your suggestion about co-ordinates, maybe that's the easier
way to implement it instead of having to code in zip/postal codes and every other
addressing nomenclature of each country. If you can find your longitude and
latitude on google earth, it should be easy enough to find "near me" stores.

Cool idea, but difficult to implement. And there are privacy issues.

The Canadian zip code database runs over 760,000 records; most of them geolocate
to stationary moose, uninhabited parts of the Yukon, and what have you. I don't
recall exactly, but I think their process was to basically put a grid over the
entire land mass of the country, divide it up into little squares, and assign
a code to each square.

The US zip code database, covering a population several times that of Canada
runs only about 42,000 records and the codes cover arbitrary regions roughly
equivalent to towns, and some post offices that don't offer delivery have
their own code.

Typically these zip codes are associated with a longitude and latitude, and these
data files can be acquired from the post office and maybe other sources.

Then there is some math and code to figure out the "as-the-crow-flies" distance
between two zip codes' associated coordinates.

I don't know that the entire globe...or all the areas serviced by BL...have
these databases. Could be. Just never built one of these things other than US/Canada.

Anyway, bottom line is you need the longitude and latitude of every store...or
something reasonably close. The coding is a bit tricky. And it may have to be
broken into hemispheres because of the math for triangulation over a sphere.

If folks want to publish their longitudes and latitudes, then you can find the
distances with Google Earth or something similar. I'd guess most of the mom-and-pop-hobby-shop
operations aren't going to be enthusiastic about posting their residential
coordinates for the world to see, though.

I haven't read all the replies so I apologize if it's been said, but
instead of a picture of each, maybe one picture of each group through the years
with a timeline?

For example, original minifig 1975, modern minifigure 1978. Like the image found
here, but for each category (duplo, hero factory etc.)

has produced over the years.

This list is not yet official and will change. It will have more detailed descriptions
of figures and hopefully better photos. It will also move from the current location
to an unknown location in the Catalog Help Center section. Or, of course, it
could also get shot down.

I have also asked that the item type Minifigs be retitled to Figures
in light of the wide range of figures of all different sizes we include in this
one section - no word on if this will happen or not. So the six item types would
be:

Sets
Parts
Figures
Books
Catalogs
Gear

This is truly a sneak peak for everyone - the people at the BrickLink office
haven't even seen it yet:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=88

Your thoughts on this list and the item type retitle? Do you find this list
of figure types useful or is it something not needed?

Create a wanted list

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/list.page

Then search for sellers who have the lots you're looking for. Depending
on how long your list is, you may not find them all from one seller.

A store with 16k+ feedback probably wouldn't risk selling fakes. I don't
know how the German stores get 1x1 plates but they do.

Still a bit too pricey for me. I'll wait until more German stores get them
and pick them up for 5-6 cents a piece.

Ooh... If those are legitimate, and not mislisted under the wrong color, I may
have to pick up a few hundred of those before they dry up again. Back around
2004, a small spread of sets resulted in a fairly complete mix of small to medium
bricks and plates, with very few gaps. I assumed that existing meant I could
hold off and order them whenever I first needed them. A few years ago when I
designed Holley Shiftwell in minifig scale, my design called for 20 2x2 corner
plates. They were listing for $3 each. I was able to reduce that number to
four per model, which allowed me to justify building both a flying and grounded
version. There are some other parts that I never picked up in any quantity that
I've had to basically figure out how to omit from a few MOCs. I got lucky
with the 1x1 plates that I needed a fair chunk of them when I did (would have
been a lot luckier to have needed them when they were down at a couple pennies
each), so the price didn't go up even higher, as I've been able to incorporate
them into a few other MOCs because I dug deep and stocked up while I could.

But I'm suspicious of these. Unless there's another regular set that
slipped through that includes them (none are listed by inventory as of yet),
CMFs have all been 100% made in China, so it should be impossible for European
sources to yield piles of CMF-exclusive parts so soon after release, and unlikely
to happen even at a later date unless the parts show up in something else like
Build-A-Minifig.
