Inventory issues have been an ongoing thing for a while. I part out new sets,
and items with no inventory extras (like regular bricks) BrickLink will show
as sold out on an order, yet when I pull the order, I have extra parts in my
physical inventory. I have dozens of these 'overstock' parts to count
and re-inventory due to this.

My trays are lettered horizontally by section, and numbered vertically, two columns
of trays per letter section. So A1-A10 are in column one, A11-A20 are in column
two.

And that here is why you should have started numbering from zero: you columns
would have been 00-09, 10-19, etc.
First digit = column, second digit = row.

Of course, the day you add a row, you count from 00 to 0A.
And then you can go up to 36 rows and 36 columns, all with a two “digits” number.

All neat and well ordered. Yessir.

Well, each rack segment holds 60 trays. There is space above each rack for (4)
58qt totes, as well as about a 4" high space for large, flat storage, this is
where I store large instruction books and some large set boxes. Technically that
area is A00, I suppose. There is also space to hold an additional (4) 58qt totes
of bulk storage below each rack as well. Sections hold 20 trays, and are labelled
across A-I, 3 sections per rack segment, 3 rack segments currently, total. These
house the bulk of my New parts stock.

Bin cups in the trays are two sizes, and are moveable and configurable to handle
most any sized stock. In addition to that are 3 rolling aluminum racks that each
hold one whole section's worth of working stock trays each, to take stuff
from the sorting room table to the stockroom, and 6 rolling carts that hold (8)
58qt totes of Used, unsorted stock each, for mobility in taking stock in and
out of the sorting room. It's a cozy little operation!

store inventory when parting out Lego Sets.

Hope some can find this useful!

https://youtu.be/sNa2IYrS8nA

Very nice setup, and a great help for those who are moving or thinking of moving,
into a larger inventory situation. Mine uses slightly larger trays, same type
of arrangement, but the trays are 2' deep x 1' wide x 4" tall, and I
use bin cups in them. I notate drawer number(s) a lot is in, as it's easy
enough to grab a whole tray and scan through in a few seconds to see which bin
cup they are in.

My trays are lettered horizontally by section, and numbered vertically, two columns
of trays per letter section. So A1-A10 are in column one, A11-A20 are in column
two. And while the whole thing is kind of free form, I try to maintain colors
in a column, and things like slopes in row 9-10, 1x plates in 7-8, 2x plates
5-6, etc. Thanks for the video!

I have a couple stickers, still new on their backing. But when I look up the
number on the stickers, 170900 and 170910, I get multiple catalog numbers for
them:

[p=1737stk03]
[p=6815stk01]

and 4 more entries, and

[p=1737stk01]
[p=5129stk01]

and 6 more identical entries!

Now, I know this was done originally to show which set it was from, but since
these are identical, and it is even mentioned in each entry that it is identical
to the others, shouldn't they be combined?

Otherwise, how should I list these stickers? There is no way for me to know which
set they came from?

Lisa at Brick Dungeon

This causes a lot of issues, especially in the old 9V train stuff, since the
same sticker sheet was used across several sets too. I know it's been brought
up before, and they left things as they were

  Hi,
I'm wondering why a new set can have the flag "incomplete". Talking about
a new! set means, that it is MISB or new in openend box. Everything else
are new parts that exist in several sets or maybe only in one set. But a Star
Wars set without the rare minifigs or a Maersk train set without the train can't
be a "new set".
Why is that important?
When you take a look at the price guide you often find new sets that are much
cheaper than others. But when you check the offer you see the "incomplete" mark
within the offer.
From my point of view "new set" means complete in box with instructions and ALL
parts, nothing else. For now, the price guide for "new sets" is useless because
I am able to sell a single 1x1 tile as a new set that is incomplete.
New sets with the flag "incomplete" should be listed under parts because that
is what they are - a collection of new parts from a set.
What do you think?

Sven

My example:

Set No: 8487  Name: Flo's V8 Café {Cafe}
*
8487-1 (Inv) Flo's V8 Café {Cafe}
254 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2011
Sets: Cars: Cars 2
In the Cars sets, there was not a sub-category for each of the vehicles/characters,
so in order to list them, I had to put each one as a New, Incomplete set, then
have a description as to which vehicle/character was included in sale.

Sorry, but I voted no. I don't think buyers should be able to change order
status to completed and file it away before the seller has marked it as paid
or shipped. While I understand (and share) your frustration with sellers who
are lazy about changing the order status, allowing buyers to change the status
prematurely would open it up to much confusion, gaming and abuse.

Thor

I took this as they were just wanting the ability to have the File checkbox on
the Buyer side regardless of order status, to file the order away on their end
so it would not pop up in their order view, not necessarily change the order
status.

I'd like to be able to set timers. Hear me out. I want to be able to automatically
set a sale for 24-48 hours. Whether it's the whole store, or selected groups
or lots, this would be handy. I wouldn't have to remember to begin or end
a sale with this option. Scheduling could be setup, if I'm out of town for
a weekend and returning Sunday night, I could schedule a sale starting Sunday
afternoon, automatically.

Also, I'd like to be able to set a timer if, say, a Buyer wants to cut a
deal on a certain lot of parts. I could set this up to reserve the items in question
for a certain time period, say 24 hours at whatever price we've discussed.
Take it or leave it, price goes back to original after X amount of time.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

On BL we only have positive, neutral an negative FB. Perhapse we could do a 5

for example

5 stars ***** Exellent (Positive)
4 stars **** Great

2 stars ** Minor problems (Neutral)
1 star * Barely aduqate (neutral)
No star (negative)

I belive this type of system would benifit so not only positive and neutral (and
negative) statuses would have been avalible.

I voted No. 1-5 is the same shades of Positive, Neutral and Negative, with a
little more grey area in between.

Is a law any less a law because you don't agree with it? I concur that a
witch hunt is not called for, however, could we simply agree that it is illegal
and that Buyers should stop asking?

Most problems arise from new buyers, who may not know how much shipping costs.
Just because there is no cheaper option, doesn't mean it can't catch
someone off guard. Now maybe it could have been avoided with a little research,
but I don't think that should be necessary for a modern marketplace website,
which is why we need to get automated checkout working already.

I believe it will create a bunch of headaches due to the unique nature of order
dimensions and weights here. Either the Seller will get stuck with higher costs,
or the Buyer will be overpaying for shipping. I'd prefer to quote due to
the large variety of packaging and shipping options.

How do you determine too high shipping? What is the metric for that? If I am
quoted only standard local postal rates for shipping weight and then opt to cancel
due to shipping being too high, where else will I go to get it shipped cheaper?
Nowhere. The argument that shipping is too high is invalid in this case.

I believe the new Quote option was designed to specifically allow this kind of
window shopping. "I want this, what will it cost to ship?" and when they find
out, "Oh, my! Um, no thanks". No harm, no foul.

ok with all the threads about new buyers and sellers, or a very long thread about
a new buyer, maybe a tutorial should be instituted for both new buyers and new
sellers that they would go thru as part of the sign up process so as to avoid
some of the confusion that is occurring (hopefully).

it could be any one of things from a video tutorial or a written tutorial or
? any of which must be completed before official member status is given.

this is just a suggestive thought.

Indeed. One of the things that kept me around BrickLink even through the rough
patches was the Community. People have questions, they can bring them to the
forum and they will most often get the help they need. And having a Newbie Buying
and Selling tutorial would be a great idea. Even better for Newbies to see both,
so they understand not only how to place an order, but how the Seller end works
as well! I've been here a long time and I still forget to read the terms
first!

Also might cut down on spam users if they had to sit through a 15 minute video
before being able to buy or sell.

This is a "roadmap" suggestion, as it would require a pretty big change in the
architecture of the site, but it would be very useful for sellers to have access
to tracking information for their shops.

Full analytics would tell sellers things like:

- How visitors got to their shop. For example, some people post sales in the
forums. Analytics would let you see how many people followed the forum link and
whether they bought something. That would give you an idea of how effective that
marketing activity is. Or if you link to your shop from other forums or social
media sites, you could follow that traffic.

- The search terms visitors used to find your shop.

- How people look around your shop. Do they search? Use a wanted list? Browse
by color?

- When your traffic is heaviest and lightest

- What country your visitors are from. Maybe you need to add a destination to
your shipping list or translate your shop terms into another language?

This is perhaps a long-term feature, but some of the things BL is working on
now could be designed with analytics in mind: payment processing, for example.
Analytics can give you lots of "gee-whiz" information, but to be really useful
it has to answer one big question about each visitor: Did they buy anything?
As BL works on its new automated checkout and payment system, I would hope they
keep an eye on the future and make it possible one day for sellers to track what
marketing efforts are working.

Also, you can host a small pixel graphic on your splash page, so every time a
visitor enters your store, you can track the loads of that graphic. You can tell
when it was loaded and judge when the best traffic times are in your store among
other things.
