Hi,
A friend of mine had a muckup with their password, managed to reset it (they
think) but then had their IP address blocked.
They've sent an email to admins but have not had a response after a week.
Is there a backlog in helping people and if so is a week a reasonable time?
Cheers
Tim

  Hi All,
I lodged a request for a quote with a store in Indonesia for postage to Australia
and then accepted the quote. I went to pay and was given an error saying the

Having accepted the quote and having a bonfide order ready to pay I don't
think I can do that again without adding more to my order.
Bricklink is adding taxes to the order as they've advised they are now doing.
I find myself wondering if they have an issue in the new system from the adding
of tax.
Any thoughts?
If I can't get this order then I've got issues with my MOC for an upcoming
display not to mention an issue as being seen as a non paying buyer.

This issue has come up before. I believe the solution was to have the seller
add a 0.01 credit to the order.

It would be really interesting to know the source of the issue in the first place,
so that BrickLink admins can prevent it from recurring.

Cheers ...

Agreed.
I suspect it might have something to do with how the taxes are calculated and
that the Quote process isn't fully supported... there might be a slightly
different outcome that's produced at the thousandth of a cent and rounding
does or doesn't happen in the same way. Could also be a bigger issue where
the source currency value 700,000 plus Indonesian rupees and then has the 10%
added... then it gets converted to USD... a few potential points of failure.

Hi Russell,
I've just tried to pay for my first international order since this came in
and have an error telling me the price has changed and I need to go through the
checkout process again. I got a quote, I accepted the quote, I can't pay
via the link. I suspect this is something to do with the tax changes.
Hoping you can assist.

OK, then let me rephrase - the buyer probably shouldn't be able to do it
before an invoice is sent.

A good point also. Understanding, intent or lack there of can create havoc.

I see this often in the forums. Could someone enlighten me as to why sellers
are also able to mark orders as completed if only buyers are supposed to do it?

Stupid development error, or outdated behaviour which may have been more "valid"

I definitely think it's the latter. Same with buyers being able to mark orders
as Paid.

This IMHO is very useful - in the BL interface this field is the only indicator

Niek.

Then it comes down to interpretation, I agree with you that there is no other
method but if a store isn't awake to this it could become awkward.

I'm after some advice about what I can do about some feedback provided by
a seller:

Their feedback and my response:
Claimed received parcel later than what the tracking system shown.
Reply: My complaint is that you marked the order Complete. That is MY job as
the buyer

I just hate it when a Seller does this; especially when a buyer receives a few
orders and has a job and a family, it can take him/her a month or more to check
what's received and say "Completed" (or not).

I also disagree Sellers thinking they've to manage everything about an order,
like: receiving a Feedback, a confirmation that everything's OK, a status
change, whatever.

A Seller (IMO) has to: ship the appropriate way, in a timely manner, and with
a fine / sufficient packaging - that's it.

Trying to rule the Buyer isn't correct in BrickLink's Terms.

While giving them a Negative could be a bit excessive (still IMO), you've
the right to react any way to what you think was abusive.

Hoping that helps.

Thanks for your feedback

I did post Neutral feedback based on them updating the status to Completed after
I attempted to let them know it was the buyers job to say an order was complete.
I thought they were just uninformed of the proper process and was trying to get
them to understand. It doesn't matter when the postal service says it arrived
and that wasn't my issue.

Anyway, thoughts? It doesn't appear to match a reason I can request feedback
to be removed and I'm just concerned about an ignorant seller being a risk
to the reputation of Bricklink.

I see you removed the neutral. Kudos. Also:

I see you have a store here. What would you think if a buyer did this to you?

Perhaps the seller marked your order as complete by mistake? I've done that
myself. It's easy to do because the Orders page has tightly packed rows of
orders.

BTW, almost of your replies contain nothing but the quoted message you are replying
to.

Sorry, my poor response technique is exposed but I have learned

I had quite a frustrating string of discussions with them about it....

My advice to you to is to remove the Neutral feedback you left. It is unwarranted.
There is no rule regarding Sellers and order status. It just makes far more sense
to leave this action for buyers.

Understand that this seller was surprised and offended by the feedback. Send
a quick and polite message after you remove your feedback explaining and asking
them to remove theirs. Hopefully, this will work out for you.

Don't set so much store by such things. This is a global marketplace and
not everyone has the same behaviors and expectations. Keep enjoying the LEGO
and don't worry so much about the rest.

Good luck,
Jen

Cheers for your input. I'll remove the feedback but I don't expect them to do anything.

Leaving a feedback is not the way to tell a seller something like that. That's
what the "contact" button is for. You could've just as easily sent a message
about this without leaving the neutral and hurting his store's feedback percentage.

In my honest opinion, your neutral feedback was completely unwarranted, and you
should've contacted the seller first.

I contacted the seller multiple times about it. I agree about contacting first. I also agree I shouldn't have sent the neutral but I also don't believe this person is a great seller.

Bricklink allows either party to mark the order as complete, so there is nothing
official to say that it is ONLY the buyer's job to do it. Although most sellers
will leave it to the buyer and just file away orders not marked as complete.
If the seller saw that the order had been delivered via the tracking and the
buyer had not been in contact about the order, they presumably felt it was OK
to mark it as complete.

As to the feedback, it was a petty reason to leave a neutral for it, if everything
else about the order was OK. Does it really matter that the seller marked it
as complete? And it was also petty for the seller to reply with a negative. But
that is feedback. A buyer leaves a black/red mark for a seller because they think
the seller has done something wrong although the seller feels they have done
nothing wrong, so they leave a black/red mark for the buyer in return as they
are not happy with the buyer's behaviour in the transaction.

BL admins shouldn't remove either of them. If you both feel unhappy about
the other person's behaviour, unhappy enough to vent about it in public,
and no rules have been broken then the feedback should stay.

That's where I had arrived at... I let them get to me when they failed to understand, all I wanted them to do was say sure I shouldn't do it. I also knew they were likely to give that kind of feedback based on another interaction they'd had in the past.

I was silly.

How much time had passed between you receiving the parcel and the seller setting
the status to completed? Some sellers will wait x days/weeks after an order
has been delivered and then update the status if the buyer hasn't done so.
They are a relatively new seller, so maybe they have always set the status to
completed.

Did you leave the neutral feedback first? If you did, I'm guessing that
annoyed the seller and so they left the retaliatory negative. The problem with
neutrals on BrickLink is that they count as a negative when it comes to the 'Praise'
% calculation. If you look at their store now, the Praise % is down at 92.31%...
all down to the neutral you left.

It's unlikely BL will remove either of the feedbacks. Your best bet would
be to reach out to the seller and try and come to some resolution.

It could have been in my letter box for a couple of days.
I expect I'll just have to suck it up.

I would've left a negative and blocked you too. Preposterous reason to leave
a seller a neutral. You got your Legos in a timely manner and you still attempted
to hurt a seller's reputation. Pathetic in my opinion.

Getting used to the new BL format, thanks for the new features!

One thing I was wondering about is with the old format, the fields I had browsed
would be highlighted in a different color than the unbrowsed fields.

That is not something I am seeing on my screen now, and thought it was worth
asking.

Not having that particular feature anymore makes shopping a little harder for
me personally, as I'm kinda all over the place with my hunt.

It's nice that the highlighted fields would cross the categories off the
list as I shopped.

Thanks,
