You can find early bricks without Lego logo on the studs but not often seen these
days, most have slots but not all.

The long side fill gate was used on a few odd moulds, usually test moulds I believe.

I have seen clone brands with the colour shown by OP.

In Colors, roguemjr writes:
If LEGO is not on the studs, then it is not a LEGO. I have never seen a part
that you cannot read LEGO on the studs. I have parts from bulk lots severely
worn, bitten, scratched up, and have never seen a part that you can't read
the logo on the studs.

As stated in other posts, the fact that the fill gate is on the long side of
the part is another sure sign that this is not LEGO.

I got an 1x4 brick but i cannot find the satisfying color in the catalog. I would
say it is either medium brown or dark nougat both do not exist in the catalog
can someone help with identifying the color

the other colors on the picture are reddish brown (left crate) medium nougat
(right crate) and dark orange (slope)

Is there a list somewhere of items involved ?

Missed it if there is, this could be interesting.

In Catalog, Teup writes:
This is not a big deal for me personally as I am not currently selling here,
so I can plan it when I want.. but... really?!

The catalog changes are scheduled for April 1. That's only 2 weeks away.
I noticed that this is a DRAMATIC catalog update that will throw the entire store
upside down. Definitely won't be able to take my entire 1.2 million parts
store apart and piece it back together just casually within these next two weeks
between sorting orders. Especially moving all the wedges will be be fun puzzle.

Not gonna object against any changes, they seem alright to me. Except that there's
one change clearly missing from that list: Moving the 2x2 corner brick to Brick,
Modified.. (since plate and tile are there)

I hope this really was THE update everyone was waiting for, and now we're
satisfied..

ends with nothing that really seals them. I did open to verify their contents
as gently as I could. Are these considered sale-able LEGO sets here? The set
number is listed as 216 for white bricks in various sizes. Its dimensions are
approximately 3in x 4in x 1in.

Not sure what I'd do with them.

When there are so few I can see why some things are bunched together or if they
can be used to represent different items.

Don't know the category myself, I'll take a look.

Sad news indeed.

A huge thank you from me for all that you, Hygrotus, have done and posted over
the years, you will certainly be missed regarding your contributions.

Hope to still see you on the forum.

In Catalog, Admin_Russell writes:
  Dear BrickLink members,

On Friday we heard from Hygrotus, currently our longest serving catalog admin,
that he was relinquishing his position. This is for sure a setback for our team,
as he was an unequalled expert in many areas and was exceptionally diligent and
careful in his work.

We will certainly miss him, and we wish him the best for the future. You can
read his BrickLink story here:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1249971

The CEP admin page is not updated yet with this new information. We hope to finish
that by the end of the week.

As part of the regular course of building the Community Expert catalog admin
program, we were planning to add another admin to the team this Spring (Apr/May).
That continues to be our plan.

Looks like it comes in both.

A large number of sellers offering pearl light grey although it's not listed
in sets, not all of them will have listed them incorrectly.

Many items exist in colours not found in sets.

I've attached four images that show some of the parts in the lot.

Are there any experts in here that are able to judge if the parts appear to be

Look for the position and size of the tabs on the edges, many get damaged but
easier to see position for comparison to catalogue images when viewed from rear.

Puwi also produced similar windows and doors as Lego's in the later slotted
series not just the flat.

more of a neon red-magenta color. As far as I know there are no other pieces
in this color, so I understand that it would probably be a waste of time to create
a new color just for one piece, but it may cause confusion for some that the
listed color is not actually the color in which the piece comes.

Not sure I've ever seen any that I would truly call smooth, not saying they
don't exist but it won't bother me if they are all under one listing.

We're considering eliminating separate catalog entries for smooth slopes
for a number of different reasons and are seeking feedback from the community
on the decision. This change would primarily effect the five catalog entries
shown above.

Please share your thoughts.

You need Brown and Light grey from BL.

What you received from Lego are Reddish brown and light blue grey here on BL.

I am in the middle of getting pieces that I am missing from my Lego sets I have
had since I was a kid. I ordered a bunch of pieces from the Lego Store. 5 pieces
I need are 4 grey pieces and 1 brown. The ones I got from the Lego Store are
not the right color of grey or brown. The grey medium stone grey and brown reddish
brown.

The sets I need the pieces for are from the 90's. On toysperiod.com they
say the pieces that I need are old grey and old brown. As I look through the
stores on this site I'm not sure which color name they fit under. If anyone
can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Always worth asking, nice to see others picking up on differences, I've seen
a number of differences on the bases of these bricks in the past.

differences for the variations on the connections underneath. Is there merit
in mentioning the 'Pat Pend' connection as it is drastically different?

Does it classify as '3011old'?

You can add it to your listing, there are a few collectors, but not enough to
warrant a seperate 3011old listing.
And if you want to do it right, you also need to list the logo inside the studs

Cheers,
Maxx

I agree with Maxx. There is no structural difference about this brick, besides
the notification of 'pat pend'. Which makes it not a candidate for a
seperate Catalog entry. We've tried that ourselves years ago.. many years
ago

But yes there are some 'pat pend' collectors, and also, if you want to
complete a set from that time period it is always nice to have bricks from that
period too!

Cheers2,
Arnoud

Thanks guys, they caught my eye with the radically different slotted connection
tubes, that's what prompted me to at least ask!

Thanks, changes and dates noted.

In Catalog, StormChaser writes:
NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES TO PARTS 4623 AND 88072

Part No: 4623 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Arm Up (Undetermined Type)
*
4623 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Arm Up (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Plate, Modified
[P=88072]

Members have recently identified two problems with these part variant entries:

1. The additional notes need to be updated.
2. Part 4623 comes in both 5 MM and 6 MM horizontal arm length versions.

A member has submitted a request for us to take action.

What changes will happen?
1. The title of Part 4623 currently in parentheses will be changed to
read "Undetermined Arm Length," but the part will not immediately be marked for
deletion.
2. A new catalog entry will be created with the part number 4623a and
the title "Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Arm Up (Horizontal Arm Length 6mm)."
3. Part 88072 has 4623b as an alternate item number. The primary number
(88072) and alternate item number (4623b) will be switched for this part.
4. The additional notes for all three entries will be updated for brevity
and ease of comprehension.

When will these changes occur?
All four changes are planned to occur between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM CST
on July 8th, 2020.

Why are these changes necessary?
The changes are necessary because Part 4623 comes in both 5 MM and 6 MM horizontal
arm lengths. The catalog does not currently recognize this fact and some inventories
include incorrect part variants.

How will these changes affect BrickLink members?
Sellers should move their for-sale listings from the undetermined entry to either
4623a or 4623b as soon as reasonably possible after the July 8th changes. Members
who object to one or more changes should immediately provide input with clear
reasons for their objections.

I agree, there are too many variations to list, it would be nice but it would

I also suspect that if we looked at many more parts, the same would apply.

The 3001old with 3001 underneath would be an interesting oddity in the catalogue,
just to name one.

That is certainly an oddity
The main reason to include it in the catalog is so I can find more!
(If people find any, let me know!)

It could be nice to include the version with split tubes. But only for people
looking for bricks from that specific time period, as far as I know there is
no functional difference.

Personally, I think that I would not include 3001oldf1 or 3001f1 in the catalog.
I use them now we have them, and there is a visual difference that some people
might care about because they are used for transparent parts. Solid color parts
have the same inner surfaces, but we simply use 3001old or 3001 for those because
you can't see them.

I've had mixed results too.

I've bought bricks from a seller just labelled used and they've been
like new, from another labelled exactly the same and they've gone straight
into my scrap bin.

Some labelled as normal wear for age and they've been gauged, bitten numerous
times or absolutely covered in scratches, not light wear marks or odd scratches.

In Catalog, JRBricks writes:
Not sure if this has been brought up before, but is there a possibility to have
more options for listing used items? For example, I was shopping around for a
few hard to find, relatively expensive minifigs and in searching I notice from
lowest price to highest the Used ones of course are usually listed first, and
I appreciate sellers putting descriptions to help out, but most listings under
Used simply don't have more details. Especially if we are all using stock
photos, it's hard to discern between used minifigs when all have the same
stock photo and just listed under "used." Honestly, I just don't take a chance
on those and look for used with a description that has "like new" or "adult owner,
never played with" "displayed only" "great condition." etc.

Again, sellers have to type in those descriptions, but can there be options such
as "used - like new" "used - heavy playwear" etc. to give more accurate listings?
I guess a store's front page can be a good place to generally describe your
items too. Just a thought and if it's easier like it is then so be it and
I will advise sellers to try to give good descriptions for used expensive items

Every training course for safety, manual handling etc, that I've ever been
on, the trainer always insists that there is no such thing as common sense.

Their justification being that what's common sense for one is not necessarily
common sense for another, experience tells me that they are right, we all have
our own ideas as to what is common sense.

In Colors, bje writes:

Dark nougat is a new and rare color, so items listed as such should be carefully
verified. That is the seller's responsibility to the buyer.

If a buyer orders an item incorrectly listed as Earth Orange, it is site policy

An administrator gave commonsense advice for handling the integration of the
new color. That does not rise to the level of site policy.

that it is common sense that it might be the wrong colour

It has been the wrong color since whenever these colors were added until now.
The site has made progress and you complain? How would you recommend handling
the situation? Removing all items for sale in earth orange and insisting that
every seller examine the colors before relisting them for sale?

but since the seller listed it incorrectly, there is no assistance from site management in the event of a claim.

Again, true dark nougat parts have always been listed incorrectly. You are making
something out of nothing merely for the sake of having something to be unhappy
about.

Tetchy are we not? I did not ask you for an opinion on anything I said. I asked
a question (twice) as a paid up customer of BrickLink on something on which I
am unclear and to which not furher diection has been given other than the fact
that members who cannot understand this must use common sense. Now put your little
boxing gloves back on the shelf please. You would not begin to know what makes
me happy or unhappy. I've not said ANYTHING about the progress or lack thereof
of this site. I am not the only member who have expressed confusion about this
issue as raised by a member of site management and in fact the only current catalogue
administrator. I am tryig to get an understanding of what is meant by having
common sense and maybe/maybe not atatements applied to an agreement. That is
it, no more, no less.
