| Before deleting an item listed for sale, please give a notice to the seller.
That way the seller can change the listing to comply with the rules (instead
of having to enter everything again).
The e-mail does not give the full listing details, so it is not always clear
what is wrong with the listed item. Also the reason given is not clear.
I just recieved an e-mail stating that a few stickers I listed are deleted.
Reason given: "Item is incorrectly defined as New/Used or Complete/Incomplete/Sealed"
It concerns a few incomplete sticker sheets. I have more incomplete sheets listed
and they are not deleted or mentioned in the e-mail.
Is it wrong to list incomplete sticker sheets as 'new' (with a picture
of the actual sheet and clearly stated in the comments that it is incomplete)?
The stickers still on the sheet are new (never used).
Just to be save I changed the remaining incomplete sticker sheets to 'used'.
And I will re-list the deleted items as 'used'. Hopefully I can still
fing the pictures of the deleted items.

the category definition should be modified. Agree on moving balls to the Ball
category. This is a relatively new category (October, 2018) and that was always
the intent.

Could part x12 be a modified plate round with ball?

| Could we have a more complete original box description in the catalogue?
Currently there is only a, not always good, picture of the box and measurements.
The current boxes are usually only a simple, 1 layer, cardboard box with pictures
on all sides.
But the older boxes can be a cardboard sleave with inner box (and what colour
is the inner box). And possible one or more inner trays (plastic of a certain
colour).
And the older (train) sets may have the flap/lid and a see through cover.
I am currently processing some older train sets. And there are some with original
boxes (or parts thereof). But I have no way of knowing if the box I have is complete.
Is the outer box I have all there ever was, or does it also need a inner box
or tray?
So I would like to suggest:
-add more pictures of original packaging
-add a full description using some standard terms (to be determined)
Of course this would need some effort from the bricklink community to add this
information to the catalogue.

| As far as I can see (maybe I overlooked something):
In the regular section of the inventory there are parts that are not used in
the main model (and the instructions or box do not show any secondary model):
1x black brick 1x2
2x black plate 1x1 clip horizontal
2x black slope inverted 75 2x1x3
1x black tile 1x4
But then in the extra parts section of set 10205 are 2x black panel 1x2x3 (2362b).
Shouldn't these two panels also be moved to the regular section?
Or should all these parts be moved to the 'extra' section as the secondary
model is not in the instructions?

I propose the following for discussion: why do we call patterns patterns pretty
much everywhere but in category names?
Nearly the only place you will see "Decorated" on BrickLink is in category names
(32 of them). When you click on decorated parts, though, you see parts with
patterns. I propose changing the word "Decorated" to the word "Pattern" in those
32 category names. This will have no effects except in aesthetics and site-wide
consistency.
LordSkylark has asked for a category split of the Aircraft category into patterned
and non-patterned parts. I decided to succumb to his demand and have created
a new category titled Aircraft, Pattern. Now you can look at it on the parts
category page and see if you prefer the way things are now or the way I suggest
we do things.
Provide input, please.
|
I see nothing wrong with categories named 'decorated' and the use of
pattern in parts.
To me it means a collection of decorated parts. And the parts are decorated with
a certain pattern.
So I do not see the need to change anything in de current use.
I think there are more important updates/changes to make than changes pure for
aesthetics.

| On a more serious note, this project actually consists of standardizing
whether set numbers appear in minifigure titles.
But before we change anything, let us discuss. Do you want minifigure titles
to include set numbers? Do you find set numbers in minifigure titles useful
or can you live without them? Once we decide and get written policy in place,
then we only need to examine the titles of all the minifigures and adjust as
necessary. If we go with including set numbers, then the format would be this
(with the words Multiple Sets instead of individual set numbers for figures that
appear in more than one set):
Minifigure Name (Set 1000-1)
Minifigure Name (Multiple Sets)
If we go with not including set numbers, then we just need to remove existing
set numbers from titles. I don't have a preference either way on this one.
Thoughts?
|
I don't think a set number should be in the minifig title. It is redundant
information, the set(s) a minfig is used in can easily be found.
When I search for a set, I want the search result to show me the set, not the
minifigure(s). The inventory of the set will show me the minifigures.

Arms and legs can relatively easy be removed from a technic figure. I've

Yes, please
| | The second route we could go is to include all of the existing part assemblies
in the catalog in inventories. That opens the door to many more part assemblies
being added to the catalog and to inventories. My concern with that approach
is that eventually you fill up inventories (and the catalog) with part assemblies
- especially when you consider stickered/printed assemblies, assembly color variations,
and part variant assemblies.
|
|
For assemblies the color combinations and part variants are indeed a difficult
issue. Can't think of an easy solution for that. Something like a 'not
applicable' color and then add a comment to describe the colors (or variants)?
This would work for selling the parts, but I don't know if the comment field
is available in inventories.
Why not create a new option in inventories? Something like 'assembled parts
and pairs' This would include the wheel/tyre combination, the assembled hinges,
stickers over assembly, etc.
This would NOT include full assemblies of subsets (like a train wagon or a car).
These go in the 'special assembly' (or subset) option .
Keep the counterparts option for the stickered parts, strings, hoses as per your
new definition.
And because of the many options in inventories that would be available then.
Make it possible to hide certain of these options when viewing or printing the
inventory.

now in the catalog, and finally a few folks decided to do something about it:
* | | 44567 Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on Side (Undetermined Type) Parts: Hinge |
First we added the definitive non-grooved variant, which turned out to be the
most recent one.
And here is the really important line in this message:
the A and B versions of this part were just switched today
So if you've labeled bags containing this variant you will need to reverse
this numbering.
Renumbering is never taken lightly, but in this case we felt we had to do it
because of 2 other entries added with nearly the same situation - early grooved
version followed by a non-grooved version. Quite the opposite from what we know
to be true with standard tiles.
Thanks for your patience. Resetting the numbers to reflect the correct chronological
order will save a lot of misunderstanding in the future.
|
I think it is not wise to put some meaning to an itemID. So the change of the
a and b version should not have happened, in my opinion. Even if in other parts
the itemIDs were assigned chronologically.
Also I think the catalog should keep the 'undetermined' versions of parts.
Because: -not all set inventories have the specified mold varients
-not all sellers want to differentiate between small mold varients, and they
should be able to (or must) list as undetermined.
-not all buyers care about the mold varient, they should be able to buy 'undetermined'.
(Ideally if you choose undetermined all versions would show up)

| It can take a lot of scrolling to find my price/quantities in the price guide
overview.
I always use 'sort by price and group by month' (consolidated currencies).
These options should remain.
So my suggestions for the price guide of a part in a certain color:
-As a seller I would like to see my data (price and quantities) at the top part
of the screen, or at the top of a month.
-Most of the time I am not immediately interested in each separate entry (sold
or available). I would prefer an overview of quantities per price. So instead
of seeing 10 separate entries for each transaction where the part sold for 0.01,
there would only be one entry per price. This will hopefully shorten the overview
somewhat.
--condense/collapse the separate entries to one per price
--it should be possible to click on the condensed/collapsed entry to see
all individual entries

according to Paypal's terms USA sellers are prohibited from doing passing
that expanse to their buyers. European sellers are not bound by those rules.
I wouldn't charge paypal fees even if i was allowed to- no buyer likes to
do math while shopping for their favorite toy.
I'm surprised that Bricklink's admin allows this because they don't
make money on fees so sellers in EU can reduce their commission to Bricklink
by lowering their part cost and charging extra fee like this.

The same goes for lot limit fees, packaging fees or whatever fees sellers charge.

I do charge (the actual) paypal fees, because as a seller I need to pay these
fees to paypal for receiving money. And I find that it can be a significant amount
of money.
In the future I might change this, but not yet.
I also charge a 'handling' fee, but am considering to no longer do this.
My handling fee goes toward package material.
It takes a while to find how to price your items so you can cover all costs and
still make a bit of money.
Lot limit fees I never understood and I tend to avoid stores that have these.
I also avoid stores that charge a flat rate of 5% paypal fees, because that is
not the actual fee.

Yet our 'invoice' template remains quantity '1'.
Now every 'payment method' has it's characteristics, and this implicates
that the 'template data' (whatever it contains) must be 'altered'
when sending an invoice.
Obviously the details in the invoice will differ when the payment method changes:
Paypal (manual and/or a link), paypal onsite (Pay button), IBAN (Iban/Bic details),
Stripe (PAY link), Cash(no COD): Provide cash on pickup, Money order: Please
to...
Basicly, sellers need to keep their 'head' together when sending an invoice...
and even if they have a 'template' containing all options, they still
need to remove/add lines to make it clear for buyers 'what' they need
to do.
The easiest solution: A template for each 'payment method'. It's
2017, where getting closer to 2020, time to evolve and time to add some features
that are 'usefull' IMHO
Thanks for reading
And pleas vote 'YES' (even if you don't need it right now)

PS In todays I-net, not 'evolving' means moving 'backwards',
as the competition doesn't sit around doing 'nothing'.

In the invoice you can add your own code for a number of options with the PAYMENTTYPE-EQ:
tag (as long as bricklink has identified the payment method with a number).
See http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=662
So for instance paypal the paymenttype is 11. You can put the paypal details
between the begin tag PAYMENTTYPE-EQ:11 and the end tag /PAYMENTTYPE-EQ:11

store advertising but serious overkill and a waste of time.
I imagine the advantages to allowing a store to list the same part only once
would be less stores to search through saving customer time, BL resources and
page download speed to name some.
Thanks for your time
|
I would not like only one option to list a part. There will be two listings to
differentiate between New and Used.
As I use 4 levels of 'used' it can happen that I list a part 4 times
in the condition 'used'.
Also if a part is sold in bulk quantities, it may be that a part is listed in
different bulk quantities.
Only if a part is listed multiple times with the same condition and bulk quantity
it should be consolidated to one listing.
