Hi,
I recently found this minifig's inventory and found totally non-sense that the blocked open stud version head was used for it. It was a quite new idea of Lego that they used open studs for minifig heads. Since this minifig appears only in the set 6607 from the year of 1982. At this time Lego used the solid stud version heads: 3626ap01.
You can check even the instruction manual, e.g here: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/06000/6607/002.jpg

Please read the following post and the related thread:

This is a known issue and it will be addressed in the near future. Until that
time, any requests involving the stud type will be processed according to the
current inventory policy, which requires a type "b" head for all early minifigures.

| Hi,
Thank you for your help! I even don't have the box, so I couldn't check
it against that.
Surely this is the trick you mentioned. Telling the truth I also built this model
to use the remaining 1x1 and 1x2 parts.
Bonus question: did you noticed the error in the scanned manual? It is exactly
in the page you posted at step 7.
Solution: One dot in the picture is yellow, although it should be red. Check
the new item in step 6 and how it looks like in step 7.
Thanks,
Peter

| Hi,
I controlled in my set and I found 12 x "3622 yellow brick 1 x 3"; the inventory
on one side of the box also shows 12 x "3622 yellow brick 1 x 3".
I took a look at the manual to build the last model. It's true, apparently
you need 13 pcs but only one of those is not so clear to recognize, the one shown
on image number 6 (circled in blue, see the picture above): maybe it is not a
3622 yellow brick but they are 1 x "3004 yellow brick 1 x 2" + 1 x "3005 yellow
brick 1 x 1". In fact in the set there are "3004 yellow brick 1 x 2" and "3005
yellow brick 1 x 1" enough to do it.
This is the only explanation I can found…

| Hi,
I recently found an issue in connection with the 740 set I own. I'd like
to ask you to confirm whether 12 pcs or 13 pcs of 3622 'Yellow Brick 1 x
3' are in the set.
Because according to manual if you build the last model (the house) it needs
13 pcs.
Is it an error, or do the set contain really 13 pcs?
I think you are an authentic source, because the pieces of my sets are mixed
together with others, so I can't decide...
Thanks,
Peter

The alternate parts that I asked to add are included in my 740-1 Basic set that I have owned since 1987.
