Don't know what you have exactly, but what is driving the 25% - 35% of the
set selling price to complete? Seems high to me for 21 sets.

You can buy the missing pieces and sell the sets and sell them without the minifigs.
Sets from that era will sell even without the minifigs. I am selling off a part
of my collection and most of the sets are from the '80s - early '90s.
Some of my sets are missing some or all of the minifigs but they do sell.

You could even try selling them now as is and see what happens.

In Inventories, Bromwich writes:
  Hi everyone,
This is my first post on here, so apologies if I get the format wrong.

I recently won a large lot of loose Lego at auction, (for too much money), and
have been working my way sorting through it all.

What hooked me was that it came with 30+ instruction sheets, all from the late
80's and early 90's, plus the box for 6542 Launch and Load and 6286 Pirate
Schooner.

Having now spent a couple of surprisingly enjoyable weeks cleaning and picking
out bits, I have 21 near complete sets (minus any Minifigures), but also normally
missing a couple of special pieces.

My question is - What should I do with it now?!

should I (A) looking to buy all of the missing parts (currently 215, inc. minifigs
across 21 sets) to complete the set and sell as 100% complete.

Overall it seems that I need to spend 25-35% of the set selling price to complete.

Or (B) part out and save myself the time of buying the parts to sell them on?

Part of me feels that it would be nice to complete them, but it will also take
a lot longer to get things up and running.

Note - given their age there are also a fair few discoloured parts which I would
want to de-yellow before selling.

All lot of the left over basic part will just join my son's collection.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

P.S. Not sure what happened to the photos flipping!

Curious, why would you like to know what country the order is actually going
to?

Would you please consider adding customer IP address country in order detail.

I've had a good number of orders going to freight forwarders usually in Delaware,
Florida and Oregon

I'd like to know what country the order is actually going to, showing the
customers geographic location based on where they ordered from would be helpful

Thanks

Firm No.

Used condition is subjective enough as it is. Selling parts in bad shape will
keep a seller very busy responding to irate buyers, NNS claims and PayPal cases.

I sell broken parts by the pound on ebay, with good pictures and descriptions.
I don't know what people use them for, but they sell (slowly).

Agreed. Voted yes.

Would also suggest the Price Guide for minifigs have the default setting be "Exclude
Incomplete" or maybe even have separate "Complete" and "Incomplete" checkboxes.

I recently reopened my shop. I had one incomplete minifig that I forgot to put
in the storeroom. This listing was deleted within 24 hours, so BL's policing
of this is on autopilot now.

There are buyers (myself included) who look for incomplete minifigs. Time to
find a way to accommodate these buyers. Sometimes it's a hassle hunting down
the individual minifig parts.

In Suggestions, popsicle writes:

I don't know about "broken" Jonathan. But I agree, restore it. If need be,
with new limitations. Enough with the nuking of longstanding practices in dealing
with any misuse.

Short of that, at least restore the Superlot's efficacy as a semi-viable
listing option for minifigs missing a part.

No, I just think starbeanie is right based on what's listed right now. If
I had one I would list it for $98 without hesitation. If I checked back in a
month and 10 more new ones were up for sale I would reconsider.

Starbeanie is right, IF you're willing to wait. 6 month data shows that an
ava005 sold in August for $40. There's a sale in November for $59.90. If
you filter by currency there's 2 new ones left for ~ $60 plus the $98 one.
I think it will sell for the $98 in the next 6 months.

Are you suggesting that none will be listed in the next 6 months?

It's not right or wrong, it's just opinion, and sometimes speculation.

The one listed for $122.20 is one of the worst price guide offenders on the entire

The seller may set the price high because they expect the lower priced offerings
to clear out in the near future but doesn't want to keep checking up on it.

In Suggestions, SylvainLS writes:

There’s “for sale” and there’s “sold.”  “Sold” is the market price.  “For sale”

Why would a seller align their wishes on other sellers’ wishes and not on the
reality of market is the question.

Which sale price average are you referring to? If it's the sales price average
of actual sales, the sale occurred so why wouldn't they be included?

If it's the sales price average of items that are up for sale, why would
you "kick them out or change the rules"? How would that even work logistically?
A seller can list at whatever price they want.

In Suggestions, Brick_Qc writes:
Hi, I don't know about you, but I'm mad about those sellers that destroy
the sale price average with sky high prices.

Easy remedy, kick them out or change the rules. But since that won't happen,
I thought of something else, a median price in the price guide.

A median price average removes the higher and lower values and gives a more realistic
or typical price for an item.

We could have and option between average or median, or have the two displayed
in the price guide. I think it should be pretty easy to code and add to Bricklink.
And a much needed improvement.

Any thoughts ?

In Catalog, Leftoverbricks writes:
New parts that already can be found on Rebrickable and Brickset are not in the
catalog on BL.
Rebrickable and Brickset extract the information from the LEGO website.
example parts: 69958 and 71772 (https://rebrickable.com/search/?show_printed=on&include_accessory=1&q=71772&search_type=all).

Why can't BL just import all new parts from LEGO automatically (just like
RB and BS) and attach a label to them with something like "still to be considered/weighed/photographed/measured
by Bricklink's catalog administrators"?

Buyers who are reading reviews on the aforementioned sites (but also NewElementary)
would have a better experience on BL(XP) when they can at least search for the
new parts. This way new parts would also be available to sellers to sell - and
for buyers to buy.

Since BL is now owned by TLG I really, really don't get this!
It would be nice to get a reply from @Admin - I'm looking at Julia and Marvin
from TLG.

In general, I would say no for catalogs. There isn't much of a market for
most catalogs/instructions. Sad but true.

Other stuff - post photos of what you have.

As a longtime Lego trader having numismatists in the family, father and son,
I know what you’re trying to get a better understanding of. The parallels of
value are not there between the two markets, period.

Errors within the numismatic world tend to be far more rare and by extension
far more coveted. Which is reflected in the much greater value discrepancy between
error and non error coins, than with Lego.

That said, there are collectors of Lego errors of all types: misprinted parts,
short-shots, color blends, package anomalies, instruction typos, etc. But they
are not as universally sought after as say your US mint errors mentioned. Not
by a long shot. In other words, you won't find Lego "errors" at a Christie's
auction house as you do numismatic error items

Jason,

I know exactly what your dealing with. I have a color guide, called "my wife"
or "my kids"

I found this listing, thinking of ordering once international shipping sorts
itself out:

Has anyone put together a convenient brick color guide? I'd happily
buy one so that I don't order wrong.

Thanks in advance!

When I list minfigs, my own rule of thumb is that if something is shown in the
catalog inventory it should be included for that minifig to be listed as a complete
minifig vs as parts. The catalog photo is what the buyer sees and expects to
get.

If there's an issue with the minfig inventory that's a different kettle
of fish.

In Inventories, wahiggin writes:
  In Inventories, infinibrix writes:
Whilst I’m sure we all understand and appreciate that minifigs have to be listed
as per the instructions and whilst for the most part this might be a good guideline
to follow can we not also try and gauge what we feel the majority of the community
would consider more fitting as a complete minifigure along with what might be
considered unnecessary as part of a complete minifigure?

For instance we have Oscar the Grouch in his trash can marked for deletion??

Minifig No: Idea078 Name: Oscar the Grouch
*
idea078 (Inv) Oscar the Grouch
Minifigures: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)

To be replaced with this:-

Minifig No: Idea079 Name: Oscar the Grouch (without Trash Can)
*
idea079 (Inv) Oscar the Grouch (without Trash Can)
Minifigures: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)

For every rule there is an exception. Oscar should be listed with the garbage
can.

Any news?

The other Inventory Admin, Paul, ordered this set new from somewhere. I was waiting
for him to receive his set to take care of this request. Prior to that, though,
when him and I talked about this set, we both had our doubts that the parts were
included in the new set since the box images do not show them anywhere.

Cheers,
Randy

I just received my set and can confirm that it has the light gray 4x4 plates.
I will accept the inventory change request now.

Awesome! How cool is that?!? A 38-year-old set inventory may be correct for the
first time ever!

I love things like this on BrickLink.

So do I. I bought this set new and sealed. It was in storage for many years until
I finally retrieved it recently. The seals unglued due to age, so this was the
perfect opportunity to see if the Bricklink inventory was complete! I was surprised
to find the missing 4x4 gray plates - they aren't pictured on the box.
