  Hey there!
So..** I'm a seller **
I just noticed that all my DARK BROWN 3062 turned into BROWN, AND their prices
changed too, from inventories A & C!!!
It's SO UNBELIEVABLE, I didn't get any mail from the BL team saying there
was a major issue since the variant merge...
Please, has anyone noticed this issue?
are there any other bugs??

Thanks!
Soon

There hasn't been a major issue or there would be a mutiny here on the Forum.
I know it's frustrating to deal with errors in your inventory, but consider
the bigger picture. There are 4,800 Dark Brown 3062 for sale on the site, but
the only problem was with your shop? The number and name were updated on Feb
1. No items were merged.

Take a breath and check your info again. I do hope you find the issue!

~Jen

LOL
Hello!
as you can see, I do have other things to do than working on/for Bricklink/Lego,
so I can't waste my time answering everyone..
But thanks for the very useful tips as to taking deep breaths LOL!

ANOTHER ISSUE / PROBLEM I just noticed in my inventory (both B, A, C!!) : personal
remarks for new items disappeared (between the 24th of February and.. yesterday.)
So, NO, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I DID WRONG ; PROOF ; These personal remarks are
STILL WRITTEN IN BRICKSTORE (in the bsx files I still have on my computer) !!

This is a message to help other sellers, who can't waste their time searching
uselessly for items...
I wish you a very nice day.
regards
Soon.

... that sellers still don't download their Inventory XML everyday and use
BrickStore to compare or restore any problem.

So until then, it's probably not a BrickLink problem.

The fact that third-party tools are actually needed to operate a functioning
BrickLink store is definitely a BrickLink problem in my book.

Or you have some versions associated with an impossible color (like old
part with a new color), hence the color change.

That's one of the versions problems; many lots for sale are just either lies,
mistakes or typos

Randyf, I totally agree with you!
Thanks for the useful post

(made some myself over the years for sure )

I know only a VERY FEW errors people report are not their own fault and DO happen....

I know that downloading an inventory CAN be helpful to find errors made by people.

Because of the merge in operation (and that will take some months I understand!)
we are forced to increase the monitoring of the inventory to CHECK nothing strange
DOES happen to the parts in store.

That's what both of you (SylvainLS and 1001bricks) suggest to do IN ORDER
to be able to PROOF it's not the users' error. That's the ridiculous
part of the response both of you add to the discussion.
And because the merging will be a process that's happening on a daily basis,
sellers are 'forced' to do these downloads and checks on a daily basis?
We are not paid to do these checks, every day. I think we pay the fees in order
NOT to be forced to do these checks on a daily basis.....

Thanks again!!
wow, for once, there's someone who seems to fully understand the issues at
stake!
thanks a lot again, I appreciate it

Seriously?
Do you really say that this is what's required to maintain a correct inventory
on BL these days?

That's the equivalent of checking every aisle in a grocery store after closing
time.
Every day.
Again.
All day's.

....

If this is true, the database and the way it handles orders and other changes
is even more gone astray than I could imagine....

Hello Starbrick and THANKS for your very useful reply!
I was as astonished when I read that a seller should spend his time checking
inventories EVERYDAY...! (honestly, I can't..! lool!)
I wish you a very nice day

Do you have proofs the seller didn’t do that?
Do you have proofs the next possibility, BL, did that?

What Sylvain/1001bricks said earlier is exactly that:
— when someone blames BL, they don’t have proofs,
— those who have backups and traces always find it’s their fault / can never
pin it on BL.

Hello Sylvain and thanks for your so very useful message, as usual...!
I don't get why you wrote this, please explain ?
To me, it feels to me you're just saying I lied.
I have already specified once or twice on other messages I DON'T HAVE TIME
TO SPEND writing useless posts.. unfortunately, I have many things to do at home,
so I try to save time , and I can't waste my time posting ..
So, you can very easily imagine I am not the kind of people to waste his time
posting if it's useless. AND NO, I didn't do this..
I noticed it randomly while working on my inventory.

I am pretty sure you, too, don't have time to waste posting messages like
this, so may be you should try to think before posting, next time, don't
you think so?

So, as an AMATEUR seller (I won't become a pro, but I do spend A LOT OF TIME
WORKING on my INVENTORY..!) what I have failed to understand until now, as far
as COMMUNICATION from the Bricklink Support Team goes, is : we're in 2024.
sending a simple email has become quite easy. So, WHY the sellers don't receive
emails when there are issues with updates?
And I don't talk only about this variants merge issue.
I'm talking about all the sellers' inventories technical issues related
to updates that have been happening these past 4 years (I started selling in
2020)...??
Sellers spend an awful long time working on inventories... this dedication on
their inventories is not even worth a bit of respect and attention from the Support
team : that's my general feeling for these past years... I need to be informed
when there were technical bugs / issues on my inventory, for God's sake!
Because I don't want to spend 30 minutes looking for 1 item that's not
here anymore or realizing that items that I still have magically disappeared
in my BL inventory.
This is really tiring.
As sellers, we are entitled to a little bit more respect and we should get information
emails when there has been bugs.
regards,
Soon-a-b.

Could you be more specific about what technical issues you are referring to?
Are you talking about Catalog changes that affect your inventory (like a category
change) or actual bugs in seller inventories?
If it's the latter, I have not experienced any of these. I have always been
able to track down any discrepancies to user error. (Mostly, not checking that
the page fully updated before I left it.) Nor have I read about any that weren't
related to third-party software or order checkout.

Thanks,
~Jen

I disagree, AND these issues I was talkin about do not, most fortunately, happen
everyday (otherw I'd have closed my store here already! )
I cannot spend my time writing on this forum, as I am not a pro..
And I guess I'm just not the only one in this case haha.
Again, I was talking about the lack of communication from the support team

Yeap, it is the later, and I can assure you I'm not the only one having these
technical issues, unfortunately.
One of my friends owns a store here too and encounters these issues. Mostly items
that were sold and reappear in store, or the contrary. I can assure you it's
not the seller's fault
I only work on the Bricklink website, not from Brickstore, may be that's
the reason of the problem.
And yes, I learnt to wait for the page to finish updating before leaving it..

Anyway, my post actually is about COMMUNICATION
what I was trying to say is that it would be really cool, if, for a change, the
support team would keep sellers informed a bit more than presently..
Thanks!!

  Hello again everyone,

Below I have listed the general groups of variants we are tackling and the results
of the deliberation over the last month. I was originally planning to provide
a schedule for when these changes will happen, but based on the progress with
the tiles since February 1, I am hesitant to commit to any timeline except that
we will not change anything on this list prior to February 15.

Today the catalog team got a message (in all caps) protesting the variant merges.
Some of the points have not been addressed yet, so I thought I would take this
opportunity to answer these before we get started with merging.

Not sure why you would respond to a message in all-caps and post it here making
this person out to be crazy. This person is actually quite passionate for BrickLink
and you are crushing them. Your tone in the response is very tone-deaf in my
opinion. You literally have people shouting at you to stop merging variants,
yet your response is: we are right and you are obviously wrong - gaslighting
the folks who are trying to make their point - which is a valid point. Not a
good look.

Look, you're (BrickLink) obviously making this change and not going back.
At the same time you are obviously burning bridges with many people. Take time
to consider the humans behind this site and that their passion is your bottom
line. What's more important, catalog changes or relationships with people
and communities that support your bottom line? Is this all really worth the relationships
that are being strained and even broken? This public humiliation (even though
the writer may have given you permission or we will never know who they are)
is not putting out any fires, it's just fanning the flames.

I understand that the most vocal forum members on here are supporters of this
variant merger. And a post like this may make everyone feel better about themselves
and this decision. But don't forget about those people you don't hear
from very often or ever that don't support this merger. You may think this
is a great idea and so may many of your colleagues, but there are also many users
of this site that don't agree.

What I also don't really understand is why Bricklink would suddenly decide
to address:
- a random email
- on the same day
- with a really elaborate reply
- to questions that don't lead to much interesting or new information, or
have already been discussed ad nauseam (the whole "what Dan would have wanted"
topic is such an eye roller - Nobody knows what Dan would have thought and done
in 2024, nor does it matter)

- when that effort could have gone into detailing the facts: any info on what
changes into what precise, and the timeline?
- when there are so many helpdesk tickets / problems / bugs that go unanswered
and unsolved in the meantime

It seems to be a pattern for Bricklink to concentrate on things that Bricklink
has decided are interesting, rather than addressing real and more pressing problems..

Hello there!

Hey there, Thanks for replying to my post.
Yes it is hollow stud, and no Lego logo on it..but the plastic is so like Lego's..
and the bar is so like a BAR 3L..I'm keeping it till someone finds a clue

Better picture than the other post….

Is there a number anywhere?
Maybe a subpart?

I don't care about the photo, it was mine too.
And.. now, quite surely, if there had been a number on it, I would know ..
and would not ask.
