Just came across a seller who has given out 108 neutrals to buyers for not marking
their order complete. Sounds like a complete psychopath to me.

And I don't leave retaliatory feedback. I leave true feedback about how I
feel when the entire transaction is complete. If someone jumps right to a neutral
or negative feedback without contacting me about a problem, you are darn right
that is going to leave me with a negative feeling about that person and transaction.

So... instead of working through the issue or acknowledging that you could improve
your services, you prefer escalating the situation because your feelings are
hurt?

Lego released this year an incredible number of Direct to Consumer sets. I was
wondering if this has affected the price or number of sales of older sets?

I think there are too many other important variables - covid and home working
/ not working being one of them. New adult focused sets may seem bad as there
are more interesting current things to buy, but then they may be good as they
bring in new fans that realise they have missed something in the past that they
really want.

Some of the bigger decade old Star Wars sets, and slightly younger LOTR sets
have been doing very well on ebay recently. So long as there is not a decent
current alternative at a cheaper price, old sets will probably hold value.

You bring a very good point. Also, the mindset could be going from get all sets
to get a specific lines (architecture, star wars, modular, cars, stadium etc...)

Is there a good way to see if a set has appreciated or depreciated in value?

First time that I vote in such thread. A BIG YES

In Suggestions, Proprietor writes:
BL should create a uniform fee disclosure template that will appear on each seller's
Store Terms page. It should be the same format for every store, and once sellers
enter the various fees into their store settings the chart would automatically
populate and appear on the seller's page.

ONLY fees that are clearly disclosed on the chart could be included in an invoice,
and a buyer would have the right to cancel any order when invoiced with undisclosed
fees, without fear of receiving negative feedback. Same for sellers who cancel
orders when the buyer cancels over fees that were validly charged.

Here's an idea of what a chart COULD look like; anything clear and uniform
works, not unlike the fee disclosure information that must be included with credit
card and home mortgage offers in the US:

Though I'm no longer a MOCer, I feel a strong urge to suggest this simply
for the fact that its absense seems to be a hole in the catalog's functionality:

The ability to see everything that is released in a certain year.
(So not just new molds and decorations, but new part/colour combinations included)

I remember that on LUG forums AFOLs eagerly compile and share lists of new part
releases they discover. It's pretty vital and exciting info if you're
a builder, because if something is new, good chance you wanna know about it instead
of discovering a few years on "wow does that part come in that colour....?"

It seems like BL has making some kind of rudimentary attempt at this with the
"NEW" tags, but they are bugged, incomplete as well as vague and inflexible.

I think it's a bit awkward that AFOLs do their best to scrape this info together
while BL is just sitting on all that info, it's already there in the catalog,
all it needs is a door into it!

I think BL posted a little list about 2015 parts on Facebook not too long ago,
even I thought it was interesting even though I'm only selling. Would love
to see the full list!

(It would be a nice bonus if peripheral items could optionally be filtered out,
such as weird useless parts with 1 appearance or stickered/decorated items as
they tend to make up the bulk of what's new. But not strictly necessary.)

As mentioned here:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=926268
You can look up the newest parts and filter out stickered parts (or whatever
you want).
The information for old parts in new colors is already available and displayed
in inventories.
Any part with "New" flag in inventories is either a new part or an old part in
a new color.
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=75918-1
I have not yet found a way to get a list of old parts in new colors but we can
ask the developers if they can implement it somewhere.

Thanks, I remember those "NEW" tags were a bit freaky and bugged in the beginning
but they seem to work better now
Yeah I guess it's a site interface thing rather than a catalog thing. The
data is already in there.
I think it would be a great way for Bricklink to increase business. Once Bricklink
rubs all those fancy new parts and colours under your nose, it's hard to
resist buying them And, for sellers who want to have a broad range of parts
to offer it's useful info as well.

You are spot on. For instance, as my collection is fairly big, I tend to buy
mostly parts that were recently made. If I could have an easy access to see which
parts have recently been created, no doubt that it will be very hard for me
not to buy those.
