Finally, if you are this picky, stick with new.

Well said.

Most of these were listed as new (except for the Power Miner).

I really doubt the skeleton torso is actually new but was soiled from storage.
Chances are, it was used.

The Ninjago armour looks fake to me, but I am not 100% certain it could be a
different mould.

Sometimes fake items slip past us. It has happened to me too. But that is for
used pieces. If a part is really new, you know where it came from.

But my best guess is that this seller routinely lists used items as new unless
they visibly look used.

The bricks in question all came from different places purchased as job lots.

Maybe a bad batch?

I've seen it too. I'm building a MOC using dark red and doing a lot of
building and rebuilding to try different things. I keep a garbage bucket on my
desk to discard all the pieces that snap in the process.

"Brittle" is the term most people use to describe them. Try searching for that
word in the forums - there is lots of discussions.

Seems it was a problem with the dye LEGO used for a few colours.

I should not have to guess how much sales tax is going to be added to the refund.
If I enter that I would like to refund a buyer $5 the system should automatically
work out the sales tax refunded. I know it's possible; it works with Stripe.
So why do I have to play a guessing game about how much the total refund is when
I'm refunding through PayPal?

Also the tax rate used for the refund is effectively the blended rate charged
on the entire transaction (merchandise + shipping). So if a different rate was
applied to the order compared to the shipping, it is impossible to generate the
correct result no matter how much guessing you do.

It wasn't programmed properly. It has been mentioned in the forum several
times. I don't think Bricklink is going to spend the time fixing it.

like there was with Neon Yellow.

It strikes me as similar to BL Medium Brown, so I could certainly see "New Medium
Brown". Also I made a swatch based on similar colors. I'd really like to
see what everyone thinks, but honestly one of the key reasons I'm bringing
it up is that I *do not* want to see both colors covered by one BL name.

A new shade of medium brown could be called "New Medium Brown," but I
don't think any colors should have "New" in their name because eventually
the color is no longer new.

Maybe Light Brown?

Light Bluish Brown.

History repeats...

You joke, but "medium reddish brown" would kind of make sense if it is a lighter
version of Reddish Brown.

I am wondering if I am just not seeing it or if it's not there...

Is there a way to see the quantity of parts in a set in the brickstore list?
I have a list that I made of all my sets, now I need a way to get the part quantity
of that list.

I am trying to determine the average amount of parts in my sets for a family
project and being able to conglomerate and play with set data is important.

I have been trying to find a way to get a set list with part quantity to excel
so I can work with the numbers.

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks
DawnTreader

No, I don't think that is available in Brickstore.

In Bricklink you can download the entire catalog of sets - it has the name, year
released and weight but not the part count.

So I'm afraid you would need to look each one up and add to your spreadsheet
manually.

appears to have happened) is a form of extortion. That is not the BrickLink way.

Nita Rae

Would you rather buy from a seller who sends your order correctly the first time,
or one who sends it wrong but then corrects it after you contact them?

Obviously anyone would want it right the first time.

A buyer could (reasonably in my opinion) decide to leave
- positive feedback for an order sent right the first time
- neutral feedback for an order sent wrong but corrected later
- negative feedback for an order sent wrong and not corrected

I'm not aware of any rules or definitions set by Bricklink for how to leave
feedback. You can think this is 'not the Bricklink way' but that's
just your way. If it were the Bricklink way it would be defined in the site help
pages.

Having said that, I think the current feedback system is poorly implemented and
does very little to help buyers or encourage quality sellers.

I contacted the buyer who had no idea what a chargeback was and was not aware
that the bank had issued one. It turns out that he had used his mother's
credit card with her consent and she had opened an unauthorized claim with her
bank. Whichever way one looks at it, this is definitely fraud.

The buyer has offered to send back the set as it was sent to him, or to pay me
back at the end of the month. I elected for the set to be sent back and for him
to pay shipping and insurance. I am waiting for his reply.

I have contacted PayPal about this but obviously this is out of their control
and they cannot stop the claim. I need to see how I can now end this case once
I refund the money tomorrow.

This had been a huge learning curve and if it ever happens again, I will do as
many of you have suggested, contact the buyer as soon as possible.

I had something similar happen - I contacted the customer and he realized he
made a mistake in filing the claim. He didn't recognize the store name on
the credit card statement and didn't realize it was for the purchase of his
Bricklink order.

Same in your case - the mother forgot she had authorized the purchase. It isn't
fraud (no intent to cheat you) it's just a mistake - she should be able to
contact her cc company and clear it up.

Not sure why you would want to have the set sent back.

Looks like light bluish gray. LEGO hasn't been entirely consistent in the

Agreed, it is on me. I view a 30% charge as predatory however. When i asked when
it would ship, he replied "whenever". So, along wioth that and the other 3 sellers
shipping next day, makes me a little perturbed. I think you missed the part where
he shipped the order but it was incomplete. Just an all around maddening buying
experience.

What the heck is a 30% stocking fee? Does the seller just add 30% surcharge on
every order?

I'm not an expert, but fairly familiar with these sets. It looks to me like
the two examples have the same packaging - it's just that one is missing
the inner tray. 918 wasnt sold in USA so any North American version is the Canadian
one made by Samsonite.

The auction listing seems to show an opened set with the pieces in a ziploc bag.
They may be in excellent condition, but there is no reason to think they are
new. The seller is just trying to increase the perceived value. Why would the
set have been opened except to build it?

I expect that when the set was originally sold the pieces were loose in the inner
tray, and that tray was plastic shink wrapped and then inserted into the outer
box. That's how larger sets like 924 were packaged, although the outer box
had a lift up flap to see the shrink wrapped contents inside. 918 seems to be
an unusual package with inner tray but no lifting flap.

  Hello

I just handled a few thousand used 1x4 bricks for my store, and I sort them into
vintage versions with side pips and modern versions with stud pips.

But I found this strange brick: It's light bluish gray with side pip (all
other modern color bricks have stud pips). But not the same side pip found on
vintage bricks, it's round (vintage pips are oval) and this one is positioned
below the center (vintage pips are posititioned above). The inside numbers are
"30 10" and "06". Has anyone seen a brick like this before? Could it be a clone?

/Jan

You probably already checked, but is there a chance the pip in on the other side?
Perhaps that round mark is just a dent or defect.

Failing that, my best guess would be it is a brick from a test mould or rarely
used mould.

There are many clone manufacturers, but I've never heard of one having the
audacity to use the LEGO logo.

Hey everyone! In my opinion and please do let me know what you think there should
be some rewards for people who catalogue and inventory for the site. Since they
are the ones really keeping the site alive. They both help the sellers and the
buyers which result in more sales for the site. As a seller, I am also willing
to contribute to the rewards these people should deservedly get.

Interesting. As I pointed out to you earlier, your store is the biggest time
waster on bricklink- attracting buyers with low prices who then abandon their
carts because of your unusual and unexpected store terms.

Now you value peoples time and want to reward them?

For some reason, many 0,0,0 dimensions got entered into the catalog system at
the beginning, and maybe some are still "happening" that way. In the third phase

the data and fix this problem.

In the case the part was

22402 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Shoulder Pads Large, Pentagonal Cutout and 4 Studs on Back
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear
and it appears to have blank dimensions. They
show as a question mark on the catalog page, not 0,0,0.

Unless the catalog page is programmed to show 0,0,0 dimension as a question mark.

Parts works the same way. I just had an order select a thin shipping method even

part.

Really poor programming. (or design, or testing - not sure where the failure
happened)

I'm hoping they get made into separate entries, I need a pearl Gold one with
clutch in the centre but not sure if one exists yet

You don't need to wait for a catalog update. I would suggest that you contact
sellers you are planning to buy from and ask to confirm which version they have.

It may take a while for the catalog to be updated (if admins agree a separate
entry is needed), and even longer for sellers to correct their listings. Many
never will.

Even for variants that have been separated in the catalog for years, I would
recommend checking with the seller first if you absolutely need a specific version.

BTW I checked my inventory in Pearl Gold and they are all the older version.

Not exactly an error, but I didn't know what else to write given the strict

Basically there's a new version of a part with a significant but visually
hard to notice difference, which is categorised as the exact same part as the
older version. It was released this year I believe, so maybe it just hasn't
been updated yet, but I think the difference is subtle enough to have been missed.
The new part number is just classed as an Alternate Version, although it is functionally
different to the new part

Where is the best place for me to post about this so it can be changed? Thanks

You can bring it up right here, you just have to specify which part you are talking
about.

You need to Google part #30151b and you'll see that it is not what is pictured
here in Bricklink. I would send you a picture, but since this is Bricklink's
software it converts the pic to the one that is on their site, so you can't
truly see the part it should be...a Round 2 x 2 x 1 2/3 Dome Top - Hollow Stud
(in trans clear).

The default image on Bricklink shows 30151b in glitter trans-clear. Is that what
you mean that it appears wrong? On the catalog page there is a drop-down menu
to show the item in other colors.

Not sure how the default colors are chosen for a catalog item, or why glitter
trans-clear was selected here. Trans-clear is certainly the most common color
for this element.

The parts list for sets doesn't use the default image for the part - it shows
the actual color from the set inventory.

And if you ordered part 30151b in trans-clear from a seller, that's what
you should have received. What were you sent that was incorrect?

You can't change the order status from Pending to Paid, but you can change
it from Pending to Ready. And then you can change it from Ready to Paid.

That's what I do when I receive a payment but the buyer didn't change
the order status (and it wasn't done automatically through onsite payment).

Then once the order is shipped, change the status from Paid to Shipped just like
any other other.

I would suggest you do that, email the buyer telling them you found the payment
and updated Bricklink, order is on its way, sorry for the confusion and and please
cancel the Paypal claim.

Although they are unlikely to cancel it until the package is actually received.
So you may have to see that Paypal claim hanging over your head for a few days.

Is there anywhere to change the settings for the notice sellers receive when
an order is placed in their store?

I don't need an email for every order placed. I check Bricklink every day
for new orders to pack and ship. Having dozens of emails in my inbox just to
tell me an order was placed is not helpful - it increases the chance of missing
an actual communication.

Also, is there a way to send a different notice when an order is placed that
doesn't use instant check out? Because in that case I do want to see it immediately
to calculate shipping and send the invoice.
