Is it a new thing to require a code to leave feedback for a seller. It says
to access my seller features. I am a buyer, if this is a new requirement people
will stop leaving feedback. I am very disinclined to deal with this.

I had a couple of these this in my inbox this morning. They looked completely
legitimate. I did login in to BL from my work computer yesterday. When I have
logged in from work before, I have never gotten an email like this, but I thought
that maybe it was a new security feature.

Anyway, with a very official looking email in hand, I clicked the suggested logout
from all devices link and had just about entered my credentials in the new window
to log back in when I noticed two minor things that seemed just a bit off. I
won’t mention those things in case the fraudsters are reading. I looked at the
URL and it was very close to BrickLink’s (it was not the .net one that was mentioned
before). Needless to say, I immediately changed my PW and reenabled the one-time
PIN (I had turned it off because I was being repeatedly prompted for a new PIN
over very short time spans even when I hadn’t logged out). I’ll also be downloading
my inventory

BE DILIGENT! I’m a pretty suspicious person when it comes to online activity,
but, in my groggy state when I woke up this morning, I almost fell for a phishing
scheme presented as a very authentic looking email.

I don’t know why BrickLink has suddenly become such a juicy target. These people
have no hope of accessing any of my monetary accounts. I assume the goal is
to gain access to a legitimate shop so they can list high-dollar items to scam
other members.

I don’t envy the task that management has ahead of them, but they need to take
some substantive action soon. This is not a primary income stream for me, so
at some point, when all the gummy spam, phishing attempts, and slow helpdesk
response times become too much, I may simply close my store for a while. I don’t
need the extra headache of worrying about online security for a part-time job.
Had I fallen victim to this phishing attempt, I’m really not sure how much effort
I would have put into trying to recover my account. BrickLink just feels like
a dicier selling proposition lately.

I feel slighted I have none.
From a cybersecurity standpoint you never click a link in a text or an email
about suspicious activity. You go straight to how you normally access the site
and see if there is a message there, if it is legitimate, you can then do what
is needed. Even if there isn't you might consider change your password. I
keep getting texts that my bank account is in jeopardy from a bank that I haven't
had an account with for 15 years, needless to say I don't click that link.
I have even gotten texts from PayPal about a dire issue, but when I access PayPal
normally there is nothing there. Thinking before you click is always your first
action. My job sends out test phishing emails. While some look official they
are never using a correct email address and are for things that I expect to be
notified of before an email requiring action.

In my opinion new users should not be allowed to leave NEGATIVE feedbacks until
they have at least 10 points.

This is obviously incorrect for many reasons.
It also makes the newusers powerless and leaves room for bad sellers to rreat
newbies anyway they want.

I didn't mention new BUYERS, I said new USERS.
The fact you already side on the sellers it's strange to me.

I do not see a negative for this issue, however on your other negatives your
responses to them are hostile. Also, anytime you post in the forums you have
a hostile tone. Yes, you can have a tone in writing based on the words used.
I look at negative feedback left for sellers, and their responses. Yours would
make me think very hard before placing an order. I know in other countries the
customer service norm isn't "the customer is always right", but they
are still a customer and a person. Yes, some are horrible and can cause a strong
reaction, however, you are running a business, you are supposed to be a professional,
act like one. You can type out a scathing mean insulting answer to their feedback,
and instead of posting it, delete it and write one that reflects what happened
without the hostile emotions. That makes you look professional, that says you
can be trusted. An answer for this one of expecting a pair based on the description
would be, sent what they ordered, but they expect different. Simple, explains
what happened and doesn't insult anyone. Granted it isn't there and
is not an issue now. And I agree you didn't deserve a negative for a misleading
catalog description, but if it had stood a simple response would reflect better
on you then any hostility.

The negative you don't see has been removed by the admins.

And "The customer is always right" is an old quote from early 1900s,
today we know as a fact that a business doesn't need all customers, bad customers
happen and they are surely not right, I may suggest you some quick readings like:

https://www.tonyrobbins.com/career-business/is-the-customer-always-right/

or

https://www.forbes.com/sites/theyec/2019/05/23/the-customer-is-not-always-right-here-are-five-reasons-why/

I grew up in a restaurant, and we didn't bow down to the customers, however
we always tried to treat them with respect, but never accepted bullying and abusive
treatment. But if asked about it later we never badmouthed the people. We just
said there was a disagreement and we will no longer serve them.

I also come from the Southern US and we have so many ways to passive/aggressively
insult someone we don't have to do it blatently.

  Dear BrickLink members,

Following the examples of other online marketplaces with regards to security
features such as OTP, we have decided to change the current OTP opt-in feature
to an opt-out feature. This means that sellers will have this feature enabled
automatically in their store settings and will be able to opt-out if they so
desire.
We highly encourage sellers to keep OTP enabled for added account protection.

Additional safety measures may include changing your passwords regularly and
having separate passwords for all your online accounts.

Thank you.

This would have been a better announcement if it had been sent early enough for
me to read it before the change was made.
I didn't read the message board late last night, so when I tried to log on
today I was surprised and mystified about what the heck this was.

November 2023 wasn't early enough?

Did you read this?

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1459423

Because that was about today's change from opt-in to opt-out.

Oops, missed it by that much. Too much back and forth on that thread for me to
look at.
Yeah, a few days' notice would have been nice.

I got my first Neutral Feedback without any justification.
The buyer made the order at 17.2, I shipped it at 18.2 and he received it at
21.2
Although it took less then a week and although the Israeli PO is not under my
command (I wish it was!) the buyer gave me the following feedback:

Everything I asked for arrived, even the used one feels like new but the shipping
time takes quite a long time

I submitted Feedback Removal Request.

My questions are:
1. What to expect? The feedback will be cancel?
2. How long does it take normally?

Thanks,
Yoav

It won't be removed based on all the forum posts by other sellers. But by
blocking new buyers you are blocking people with perfect feedback scores. 0
feedback means no negatives or neutrals.

Do not obsess over the perfect feedback score.

Answer his feedback truthfully and it shouldn't hurt you. I agree a neutral
should not lower your score, but it is not my decision to make. IF I am worried
about a less than perfect score, I look at the feedback left and their responses
to it. You have some interesting stuff in your store, people who are looking
for that will buy it even without the perfect score, as long as you answer the
bad feedback in a calm truthful manner. Shipping time isn't your fault unless
you don't process the order for days after it was made/paid.

I've gotten four orders, all were immediately paid for.

The system auto-calculated shipping, gave me no opportunity for me to add my
handling fee, or any other Invoicing needed.

Is this a result of PayPal Marketplace?

Is this just how it is from now on?

I'd have to raise prices because I'm getting killed on too-low shipping

Set your shipping methods to manual this will force costumers to invoice

Thou without instant checkout you might get less orders. People don't want
to wait on the invoice. Someone knowledgeable can help you with setting up your
postage right.

There are many of us who lost a significant portion of our lives
to the merges that just occurred, and we have every right to mourn the loss of
that information and the significant time and money we poured into the obtaining
of that information for the use of the worldwide LEGO-fan community.

I came a hair's breadth from losing my marriage recently and the time I have
poured into Bricklink was a major factor in it. Less than a hair's breadth.
She left for 70 days. So in any case, I have to cut back. But what I cut back
would have been a lot more difficult to decide without this coming along at the
same time. It stings VERY MUCH. VERY MUCH. To find out that they don't
even value what I was doing. I almost lost my family doing a labor that I believed
would help the community, but it won't because the leaders of the community
threw it in garbage half done.

It doesn't look like the vitriol in these thread got directed at me personally,
but to read someone saying "Hey it wasn't your decision. Don't be
so entitled" feels very personal.

I respect you, so please don't view anything I say negatively.

I personally, don't understand why people keep complaining, and then KEEP
HELPING. Like if a person IRL doesn't respect your opinion, or time, continuing
to give that person your advice and time, is honestly not healthy. At all.

I appreciate your honesty here. I admit I see low key signs of addiction to the
site (and/or the product) in many many Lego users, including many popular youtubers
and bricklink store owners. It seems alot of you (general you) get stuck

obsessing over this place, and then freak out when something out of your control
happens. The whole thing looks irrational to myself and several other users and
we aren't trying to pick on you guys, but its honestly the very concerning
(to me personally at least) to see people get SO upset, over what in reality
is not a big deal.

I know I come off as blunt and uncarring, but really I know, at least I am personally
responding the same way I would if someone in real life was freaking out, try
to point of they are overreacting.

Anyway in closing, if the merge (or anything I've seen people get upset about
over the years) causes so much emotional anguish that you (general) can't
let it go, its time to go touch grass, and I mean that in a kind way. Honestly

Back in the late 2000's I was heavily active in the forums. So heavily that
at one point I was the #2 poster in the forums. Ahead of forum overseers'
(who were a lot more active then than now) and all but 1 of the catalog admins.
It was a problem, so I took a break, a dark age for BL but not for Lego. I
try to be sporadic in here, but this issue with the variants has people thinking
their opinion is the most important and that is the one that should be followed.
I do respect and appreciate all, and the other catalog contributors have done
for BL, but you knew it was unpaid and that any contribution became theirs to
use as they see fit. If you are unhappy and it is affecting your life, then stop.
Yes, your work will be missed, but your well-being and sanity is far more important
than bits of plastic. And in the grand scheme of things that is what Lego is,
bits of plastic. Some more interesting than others, but still bits of plastic
and fighting over them is pointless really. To put it in perspective, your name
will still be in the contribution section of BL as long as it exists, but the
names of the people who built other things are forgotten. Who built the Brooklyn
Bridge? Not the architect, not the building firms, the names of the workers.
Forgotten, but yours will still be here. I know you weren't in it for the
glory, that you truly wanted to help and give the best information you could.

OK -
well the general feeling I got was that most posters were not for it and seeing
issues with doing it.

Therefore I suggest that "they" were hearing but not listening

If you own something, do you solicit others' opinions on what to do with
it? If you want to do X, but a lot of people say no do Y with it, do you do
what you want or what they want? They don't have to listen, that they have
changed some doesn't mean they have to change all.
Again, they can do anything they want as they own the website. Or for the pedantic,
they work for the owner of the website.

There was consultation and plenty of debate. Some parts were thought about again,
so they were listening.

Well I read a fair amount of the messages but not all - would you say that the
majority of posters were for the idea ?

No idea. But they people who get to make the decision are for it.

Ok. I sort of agree with that point, but I don't get the emotional gyrations.
It is what it is. You don't own the site.

You and the other, 10 ish people who are super upset could be putting all that

Can you help me identify these baby doe's, so I can return them to their
rightful sets? Both heads are clearly marked LEGO both inside of the hollow
stud and inside the head itself. The swaddling blankets were already on them
and although they fit well, are not Logo'd at least that I can find, so they
may/may not be LEGO.

Probably fake, the prints on the faces don't look right.

Many of what you would call fakes are custom printing on real Lego parts. The
heads aren't fakes as you call them but are custom printed.

Is there any information which one is older and from which year lego introducted

The technical term is ejector pin marks, and it may depend on the mold that produced
them rather than a design difference. But there are far wiser experts on this

excuse of a project sets this precedent and introduces a slippery slope that
seriously undermines community trust.

Why are other issues that were “addressed” years ago still on the shelf without

Where is the Rust solution? Where is the Light Pink solution?

Dan did not originate Bricklink to be a historical resource. I saw his posts
in the forums when it was brought up long before you knew this site existed.
He established Bricklink to facilitate buying and selling Lego parts and sets.
The fact that people put a lot of work into identifying differences made it
into a historical resource, but that was not the intent. Lego has become far
more mainstream today than ever before, but most of the newcomers have no idea
about variants and just want to buy what they want or need, without the confusing
variants. For the people who really care about a variant, there will still be
stores who break them out and will sell them to those who care or need them.
I do recognize all the work that people put in as volunteers to identify and
establish the variants and I do respect their work. It would be nice to have
a variant page/section for reference and to recognize the work they put into
it.

Knowing “what you need” is based on available information, which has now been
condensed for no good reason. The only reason I know that a set has a specific
variant is because of the work put in by catalog contributors. People aren’t
going to care anymore because the distinction isn’t being explicitly made anymore.

Defending ineptitude and inconsistency is much easier, though.

That is just it, the VAST majority don't care. Also, because you seem to
not understand something really simple, but very important. This isn't your
site, you don't own it, you don't operate it and you don't get to
make the decisions. It is great that they still listen to the community at large,
however this is a business, and it will be run in the manner that they decide
is best for it.

And as far as ineptitude and inconsistency go, it is still here, it is still
up and running and it is still majorly successful.

If you don't like the direction, they are taking you can find another place
to buy from.

Her comms, packaging, listing practices, processing times, all exemplary. She

They should have exchanged them for current stamps which Royal Mail will only

Well, yes and no, BL does get initial data from Lego which works very well for
parts that are already in the catalogue, but not too well for parts that aren't
yet in the catalogue. That's the real issue with adding new set inventories.

As long as it takes for someone to get the sets. Inventory and upload the sets,
then having BL check the upload. TLG does nothing to help facilitate uploading
set inventories. It is all volunteer work. If you have the sets, you can submit
the inventories. I know there are more experience people on here who can point

With all due respect to the (to me) borderline autistic fetish for part variants

and necessary adaptations due to changed international commerce laws to this
platform, this issue gets so much attention. It simply baffles me.

I can go as far as understanding why it could be important to a small group of
avid collectors but to expect a platform with over 1.6 million users to compromise
its functionality to adhere to the rants of a niche minority within the very
small minority that is the group of BL members that actually use the forum is
going too far IMO.

I think it's safe to say that these changes will be a headache less for the

We only know this because of complete databases like the BrickLink Catalog.

It isn't complete and never will be. With the rate new sets are produced
and the lack of information about old sets and items, there will always be uninventoried
sets, errors and guesses in old inventories, variants that are not recorded or,
if they are recorded, not catalogued as a variant, and so on.

which is why it's important to keep historical research data so that when
something is found you're not starting from scratch every time. this is garbage
and if russell really believed what he was saying he would open up the discussion
and voting on each part to the community since this database was built by the
community, not some group of people who think they know what's good for us
and forcing it down our throat and trying to gaslight us into believing 'we'll
come around.....'. RIP bricklink.

I picture you sitting in a concrete bunker surrounded by cases and cases of MRE's.
Bricklink is not a democracy, it never has been. Not everyone would vote even
if it was put out there, so it wouldn't be a true representation anyway.
It would just be the vocal minority that makes the biggest fuss.

Suggestion:

A) Add complete/incomplete to minifig listings -- this might be too large of
a change - not sure how hard this would be.

OR

B) Make a rule that ALL minifigs MUST be complete as inventoried. Otherwise
they should be listed as their component parts.

OR

C) Make a rule that ALL incomplete minifigs must have the phrase INCOMPLETE included
in the comments so that they can be excluded from searches somehow.

And B is the rule.

And drink wine (but cool). I'm French, what can you do?

How people can enjoy that is beyond me I've tried many different wine
types but they are just so weird

I’ve never drank don’t plan to ether, in my opinion it’s, drink, drank, drunk.

Tbh it almost impressive if you can force your self to think enough to reach
that 3rd state even the smell keeps me 10 feet away

Me too, the stuff stinks soooo bad. They call it alcohol, and alcohol is a form
of poison.

Dihydrogen monoxide kills around 236,000 people a year. It's one of the deadliest
and most powerful elements on the planet. But you are around it every day.
Like alcohol its only dangerous if you don't respect it.

Another estimae lists it as 320,00 per year. So many deaths.
