Hi. If you would like to meet someone for example from Bricklink, even as just
a friend.. How far would you go?
Next building/street/town/state/hundreds of kilometers/other country?

If i would travel to other country, i would like the combination of both me going
there anyway to see town itself and to meet someone to spend time for example
going to town to shops or to a cafe or walking in a park or to nature... Many
kinds of mostly daytime things. 🙂
Thanks if any replies...

Still waiting for the first annual BrickLink convention in Las Vegas.........

THATS A THING?!?! 😂

I floated the idea some time ago but it did not receive much traction. Ebay
has seller conferences. Surely BL is ready for the big league now?

I’m new to the site and am wondering how/why buyers commit to a purchase before
knowing the shipping fees? I purchased about $15 in Lego to be shipped within
Canada, but the invoice asked for $25 in shipping fees. So I requested to cancel,
but the seller didn’t respond & I see BrickLink’s policy is that the seller doesn’t
have to agree to cancelling if they don’t want to.
So I may have to pay $40 for just $15 in Lego? I’m not really blaming the seller,
I just don’t understand why buyers are asked by BrickLink to commit to a purchase
before knowing the full cost, including shipping!
I deal with contractors in my job every day and before they send an invoice they
send an Order Confirmation which includes any fees on top of the product, like
shipping. Once I reply with agreement, I’m fully committed and they send the
invoice for payment.

Flat rate shipping in my store, check it out!

  Hello,

this is going to be a rant about the ever increasing shipping restrictions on
this site.

I am collecting mainly rare minifigures and minifigure parts and would say that
I have a positive reputation among sellers, with many positive feedbacks and
not a single negative or neutral.

Over the last 12 months or so I start to see more and more absurd shipping restrictions.
Many stores in the UK and USA have now stopped to ship to continental Europe.
This includes several stores from the UK from which I bought many times in the
past with positive and flawless experience from both sides. I understand that
customs fees have made purchases from the UK more difficult, but then let the
buyer decide if they want to take on this burden.

As if this were not enough, I start to see that more and more stores in eastern
Europe have now stopped to ship to other countries in the EU, but still ship
to the US and Japan or China of whatever far away place. What is the point of
a common EU market if you do not ship to any countries in this market.

Further to that, some stores ship to Germany or some countries in the EU, but
have an excessive minimum buy of 150 Euro for them to be so generous to ship
to my country. I am sorry I am not going to spend some extra 130 Euro so that
you grant me the favor to ship to me.

In summary, I see an epidemic of arbitrary and absurd shipping restrictions,
which makes shopping for anything but very common parts increasingly frustrating
on this site. If this continues, we are approaching a state of affairs that reminds
me more of a planning economy than a free market.

And the site really has to provide a tool that automatically excluded stores
that do not ship to your country. I simply do not want to see and waste any time
on any offer that is not an offer because of shipping restrictions, period.

The bottom line is that out of this frustration I am starting to increasingly
look around at other platforms that have less restrictions. Ultimately we vote
with our feet and our money.

I could add that some of the stores that do not ship to me or do only ship to
me if I order at least for 150 Euros ship to me on the other platform. And they
offer the very some items. As said before, we vote with our feet and our money.

The pendulum has swung. The good old days of Thatcher and Reagan are behind
us. Increasing protectionism is the new world-wide norm.

  Hello,
I've been asked by a potential US based customer how much Customs fees they
are likely to pay if they purchase approximately £175 of LEGO from the UK and
shipped to the US.

Can anyone let me know the US import/customs fees please?

Many thanks

None. (There may be a threshold, but no one is really clear on the value: $800,
$1600… but way over your order.)

All they have to pay is Sales taxes (which is a State/county/town thing, not
federal, not customs) unless they are in one of the few US states that doesn’t
force BL to collect them.
And they would have to pay that even they were buying from a US seller anyway.

Are you sure about that? I think a better answer is that the likelihood of paying
duty is low. There is always the potential of paying duty on the declared value
when importing - even if the item is marked as a "gift'.

Hello Community, I have a basic set nr.65, the box looks very similar to the
basic set nr.7, but the parts are definitely different. Neither on bricklink
nor Google can I find any info to the nr.65 set, or a part list. Could anyone
help please, or have any information? I would like to complete the set and sell
it.

Did you check all the universal building sets? Some of those Samsonite sets
are recorded under their US equivalent number. Try searching by year or piece
count. It is possible it's not in the catalogue.

Yep, I don't touch used unless I really have no other option. Plus if the
price difference is 25% and you have to toss 25%+ then there's no actual
savings.

I can see why buyers do not buy used.

Thank you, you have validated the basis for my suggestion. Let's have a clear
way to delineate the good, the mediocre, the bad & ugly.

Ray

Never going to happen.

Why do you say that ? It is in the best interest of both buyers and sellers.

Ray

Best interest - yes. Real world practicality - not going to happen. Bricklink
Darwinism will solve this issue. Sellers who sell poor quality parts will dwindle
and die off as they systematically alienate customers.
