I don't mind the 1 week to pay before it is started. But another full 7 days
to complete the NPB is not necessary.

I would propose 3 additional days and that is it. Let us get our stock back
in our stores to sell to someone else instead of being held at our will for 14
full days when 10 is plenty enough.

I can't be the only one that feels this way and 14 days might have worked
10-15 years ago when access to Smart-Phones wasn't as widespread, but these
days, you can't go far without having the ability to respond. Thanks

This is exactly why I just cancel the order and never file NPB. It just takes
two long. 2 weeks is insane. It shouldn't take a week to pay. It shouldn't
take more than a few days to pay, if you don't have the money don't order
stuff, pretty simple. I know a lot of buyers are getting let off the hook by
this but I don't have the time or patience and I don't want my inventory
constantly tied up for a fortnight. I just cancel the order ban the buyer and
move on.

Once again a constant thread and everyone agrees with it except Bricklink for
some strange reason. Why should we have to let our inventory be tied up for two
weeks or longer when someone isn't going to pay for their order.

Bring the business side of the site into the 21st century, please - IC doesn't
work for all and for those that do not use it this is a real pain and totally
unnecessary.

And while we are at it, as a buyer, how come an NRS can tie up my buying money
for three weeks!? If a seller is not interested in selling, can I not please
just cancel the order myself after 3 days and go somewhere else? This is the
one part of Bricklink I have always found very unfair to buyers.

As a buyer you can file a paypal claim or a chargeback with your bank. Sellers
have no options except the npb system

?? If the seller has not invoiced, how do I have a claim? Because of exchange
controls I've had cancellations cost me 26% of the order value after three
weeks, with still no invoice from the seller concerned and no way to cancel and
move on except to wait it out.

Bear in mind also, BL is a contracts based systems, so even if a seller invoice
on day 20, he can still start an NPB after 7 days, irrespective of the time he
took to invoice or even if the buyer's circumstances have changed. Imagine
a wait of two weeks for an international order and exchange rate drop of 10%,
making the order 10% plus rate pips more expensive for the buyer. These are not
the most extreme examples.

Sellers also can cancel irrespective, buyers have to request a cancellation as
a favour from a seller who is not responding, go figure.

Would it be possible to add a function that would allow us (buyers) to check
our orders part by part? (using a hook or something like that)?
For more than 100 parts it's always very cumbersome, with printing lists
or something like that.
It would be great!

Did you notice the "temporary checkboxes" link at the bottom of the order details
page?

oh, no, not yet. Where do I find the "order details page"?
I just know the order placed page...

no longer active, was closed at the end of 2016).

What do you mean by unique numbering?

Do you mean the 122091-1, 2, 3 codes?

I've just looked at 27 Series 8 leaflets, all have 122091-1 or 122091-2,
and I have not seen any other numbers after the dash. The exact same number is
on other series leaflets too. For Series 10 I have a 122091-3. I don't think
these numbers were unique to individual sets within a series.

Ditto. Entire Team GB series 122091-1, Series 4: 122091-2, series 5 122091-1
I do not see a unique code on any leaflet at all

more. Blue, white, yellow and grey's turn all sorts of weird shades over
time. It's inevitable... I don't understand why we always talk about
brittle blue but not brittle yellow? If the part is not the right shade i'd
just throw it in the trash.

I've had brittle blue from sealed sets where the parts have never ever seen
the light of day. There are buyers who think this makes parts used. Rather than
getting into arguments about TLG quality, I just store them separate and will
probably list them as oddities at some time.

I can't send then that way. I tried using the Help section. But was unsuccessful.

I've never been able to that. Add the images as additional images to your
inventory (select the inventory item, click on "edit more" and then "upload image")
or ask that person to send you his/her e-mail address so you can send the images
direct.

Optionally included where?

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=22

It is a mandatory field out of Brickstock for an xml
update inventory. The only time lot numbers come into it are if you wish to update
existing inventory. Niek is right - the system is doing a lookup to pick up the
description so it can look up the product id quite easily.

It performs a lookup on the category only, nothing else.

  Yes according to Bricklink
we sell lots but according to reality we sell items which make up lots.

In reality there has never been a single catalog item sold on BL Mind blowing
I know, but download your orders with full detail - there is no such thing in
the catalog as a "Red Technic, Brick 1 x 14 with Holes" as a separate catalog
item, yet that is the only description on your invoice.

  The fact
that this platform has no real inventory system available to stores does not
mean we cannot look at elements of the catalogue when we are bringing in data.
A schema would clearly e4stablish this - Product ID cannot be duplicated and
therefore can be read easily when a lookup to that table is done.

What do you mean by Product ID - the lot ID or the catalog item ID? These are
two different things altogether and bear no relation to each other.

If I modify the xml file we created when we export xml to Clipboard - the mass
upload will not work - we get an error message that the file format is invalid.
If I put the itemid back in it works.

Export with a comment and delete the item field again, it will work. You could
conceivably list your entire inventory without a single catalog item id.

Whilst I am confident nothing will happen over this suggestion it would be welcome
for BL to comment.

I voted yes, but I am not entirely sure this would be as simple as is believed
on first glance.

The reason that part number gets dropped is because in BL world, that part number
is not something used to differentiate inventory items.

That would be a valid argument, if BL weren't already showing the item description
on that exact same screen. If the program is able to show the description (which
is a lookup into the items table), it already knows the part number (or at least
grab it from the same table the description came from).

So yes, it is a request easily implemented.

Niek.

But the item number is optionally included, it is not even a required field.
And from what I can see, only the category field ties to the item number in the
catalog. As a matter of fact, you can list everything in your store without a
single catalog item number, so long as you have the category and comments fields,
mass uploads will work. We sell lots, not catalog items.

I voted yes, but I am not entirely sure this would be as simple as is believed
on first glance.

The reason that part number gets dropped is because in BL world, that part number
is not something used to differentiate inventory items. What you are adding are
lots, and not individual stock items or even different colours of an item. This
is the reason you cannot cost 2 different batches of the same inventory item
with different cost prices added at two different dates on BL, as you are merely
adding to existing lots, and not adding a new batch which must be reported on
separately. Showing the part number when importing would probably have to mean
that the lot would need an additional characteristic added to it to move it into
the realm of actual inventory of parts and not lots.

My information may be a tad wrong, but from experience, lots (that is your inventory
items) are differentiated only on the comments and the condition, nothing else.
It is, sadly, a throwback to auctioneer inventory where the lot is costed as
a unit and fees are earned on the unit. To get to a basis of project costing
or at the very least some average costing for your inventory items as actual
items and not lots, would possibly take a redesign of the entire inventory handling.

From sealed gear item parted out. The part count is actually supposed to be 73 pcs according to the bubblepack. Current inventory shows 72. I do not think there are extra's in this gear, so the regular count for this part should be 3 and not 2.

I’ll excuse your French as it so happens that “%^^$%@” could indeed be replaced

That will not do as my French writing is already limited to some swear words,
cooking terms from Larousse and a bit here and there from a few novels. Wish
I could read Proust, Balzac, Littel and few others in original French.

Bicorne = two horns
There are tricorne hats too (three horns).

Horny hats will be even more difficult to remember, it is not a concept I usually
associate with hats or caps.

You might want to bookmark this page. It at
least gives the starting point names of some hat/headdress styles with images,
since I can never remember any of them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hat

You’ll note that on that page, keffiyeh is spelled keffiyah.
(While the wiktionary lists kaffiyah, kufiya, and kufiyah as alternative spellings,
but not keffiyah.)

Finding it through Prince of Persia minifigures might be quicker than searching
the wikipedia page then trying all the possible spellings

minifigs to get that %^^$%@ name. You might want to bookmark this page. It at
least gives the starting point names of some hat/headdress styles with images,
since I can never remember any of them.

88287 Minifigure, Headgear Headdress Desert Head Wrap Keffiyeh
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

It's always the same cycle, I search "turban" because it's very similar
to a turban.
and all that pops up are these;

Part No: 40235 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Turban with Hole
*
40235 Minifigure, Headgear Turban with Hole
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear
&

Part No: 18822 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Turban without Hole
*
18822 Minifigure, Headgear Turban without Hole
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

So then I remember that the piece I'm looking for is on a few of the Prince
of Persia minifigs so I go to catalog, minifigs, prince of persia, and then scroll
until I find one with the matching headgear, and then drill down into it's
inventory to find that it's called a "Keffiyeh"

to which my response is, "oh, well, I'll probably never remember that..."

I wish the description was "Headgear Headdress Cloth Wrap Keffiyeh (Turban)"
even if it's not technically a turban. It would help me find it faster in
the future.

At any rate, taking the time to type this all out should help me remember in
the future and I discovered that one only has to type "kef*" in the headgear
search and this pops up so I should be able to remember those 3 letters at least
going forward.

Took me awhile to remember "kepi" for this part too, but I remembered eventually.

management tools" that were promised years ago but have yet to materialise.

Hi Jennifer,

Like I said, there is no box to search for "dimensions unavailable". The box
that you've selected only searches for items that you've already set
to 'manual' meaning they can't be included in an instant checkout
order. What we need is a box that selects items that have no dimensions listed
in the Bricklink catalogue so that we as sellers can either enter the dimensions
ourselves or set the item to 'manual'.

Ron

It is not correct to say that the search only returns results for items you've
already set to manual. That search returns results for the following:

All items set to manual;
All items with no weight at all;
All items with weight but no dimensions and set volume bound (such as instructions).

The images below are from that exact search in my inventory and all of those
items will not be in an IC order

One thing that has not come up here … Is there a 1:1 relationship between which
catalog entry (for parts) have brick stud dimensions and which IC entries have
hidden mm dimensions ? IOW, are the two traveling in sync with one another ?

No

I just went and did a Parts.XML download from the catalog. In it I see X/Y/Z
dimensions in studs (just like what's on the Catalog page). Can I reliably
infer that parts in that download missing dimensions are also missing in the
IC database, are that they even match (mathematically speaking) ?

Alas no

Then I took one set at random (1356-1) … Both the catalog page and the download
show dimensions in cm. But the fields below a lot entry are in mm. That would
seem to be an easy calculation provided that they are more closely in sync than
the parts may be.

If you part the set out using Bricklink's tool for doing so and break the
minifigs into parts as well, you will see for that particular set that the minifigs
will be weight bound as well as all the torso assemblies and all the minifig
heads, all the other parts have IC dimensions. The easiest way still to check
inventory for missing dimensions is still the inventory setting for IC not available.
The easiest method to check for missing details when uploading is also unfortunately
to use the part-out tool in Bricklink (I forget to do this as a check from time
to time since I've stopped using Bricklink altogether for uploading inventory),
you cannot get that information from Brickstock either.

A lot of sellers run their business from their homes. There would be a fair number
of sellers who wouldn't want someone coming to their personal home address
to buy a few pieces, and also wouldn't have time to meet across town for
an exchange in person. Sending items in the mail is both convenient and adds
a layer of security.

Obviously, this could open a niche market for sellers that are willing to do
this. It would be pretty rare in my area, so if a local buyer contacted me, I'd
probably be happy to meet them.

But I think we need to allow seller's to opt into the option of "Allow buyers
to find my store by zip code" if this were to become a reality.

I run my store from home myself, but have the town I live in right there in my
store terms. Pity there is no search function for store terms, as I have gotten
numerous e-mails asking me in which town in the province I'm situated So
I'm left wondering if it is actually worth it to have it in there at all.

There are of course lots of different features that could be implemented to make
the Part Out tool even more powerful, like more advanced ways to set up automatic
prices, like 10% below average etc.

When I was selling here I was very strongly opposed to the idea of automating
pricing to undercut the Price Guide Average. My thinking then was that nothing
would increase downward pressure on prices or accelerate the "race to the bottom"
some sellers here engage in more than giving them a way to automatically, easily,
quickly and repeatedly price thousands and thousands of lots BELOW the Price
Guide Average. The tedious manual process was one significant check that reduced
the downward pressure on prices.

But since I am very unlikely to ever sell here again, and quite likely to resume
buying at some point, I would LOVE to see a feature that helps to reduce prices
even more. So I would vote yes if this were a formal suggestion.

Foster

Agreed. Actually, the system as it is is already working in your favour as a
buyer - thee part out system being so poorly designed and unstable drives alot
of sellers to use Brickstock. Brickstock retrieves prices WITHOUT VAT - which
means that for all European sellers, it retrieves prices that are significantly
lower than what you get parting out on the Bricklink website. The result is sellers
underpricing without being aware of it, fuelling the global race to the bottom.

Maybe, maybe not. There are a lot of sellers in that bottom end of the market
that make up prices with fees and charges. You cannot compare prices in the price
guide without factoring fees etc. If the average is 10c and the minimum price
is 7c, if one seller sells at 10c with no fees, he is no different to the seller
at the bottom at 7c with charges and fees that knocks the price back over 11c.

I had me one like that just last week: no fees on the terms page when I got the
invoice, fees and charges excluding shipping were 40% of the order value, knocking
all of the individual prices that seller was asking on those parts from the bottom
5% to way over the average price.

When you actually spend some time really looking at those prices, virtually all
of them are exclusive of fees and charges - meaning the price guide is actually
just false advertising since hardly any of those sellers are actually prepared
to sell at the price they have listed at. And those are just the ones that are
honest enough to tell you upfront about extra fees, there are still a large volume
of sellers who charge those fees included in the shipping charge, sometimes an
extra 50% over and above the actual shipping charge. They are very very aware
of where they are pricing, and it has nothing to do with a race to the bottom,
but everything to do with luring unwary buyers.

I was wondering if was possible, or if it would make sense to stop the visit
count going up when you visit your own store. This would give a more accurate
idea of how many other people have looked at your store.

If I am misunderstanding what it is for please correct me.

The visitor counter is totally flawed and should not be used as an indicator
of visitors.

Buggy counter - because it is not supposed to increment when you are logged in
and visit your own store. From: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=169

If you press and hold the F5 Ker whilst in your store, or anyone
else does, you can make the counter jump horrendously.

We went from 60000 visitors a long time ago to 250,0000 overnight and you know
that cannot be real.

We had our web designer deal with this and now use our own counter, which many
other people also do.

It is a shame really as it appears Bricklink use Google analytics and could provide
much better information but to date have not seen this as important.

Good luck with your suggestion but without a radical change to the way the Bricklink
one currently works it is not helpful information.

Variation has different id number, see photo's.

If you read the text at the bottom of the current catalog image, it says "NOT

That makes me think that the current catalog image is a prototype image and not
the actual book cover that made it to publishing.

Cheers,

That could be it, but where does the different number come from? Is that also
related to a prototype?

I got the original image off S@H USA, which was where it was officially for sale
in October, though not any longer. The ISBN number is from Amazon USA, and they
are still using the same number, no difference at all. I'll order one from
Amazon in the USA as soon as possible after I've received the local version,
which will be a UK import, currently on back-order. Might be that both S@H USA
and Amazon USA used the publisher's information initially.

In my continual effort to make your lives marginally better (which is a close
second to my continual effort to be a person who does not use catchphrases),
I propose the following for discussion: why do we call patterns patterns pretty
much everywhere but in category names?

Nearly the only place you will see "Decorated" on BrickLink is in category names
(32 of them). When you click on decorated parts, though, you see parts with
patterns. I propose changing the word "Decorated" to the word "Pattern" in those
32 category names. This will have no effects except in aesthetics and site-wide
consistency.

Hmm: Meaning of Decorate:
1. make (something) look more attractive by adding extra items or images to it.

Meaning of Pattern:
1. a repeated decorative design.

Decorated would include stickered and printed items, IMO, whereas patterned simply
refers to the design added to the decorated item. So probably the category names
are correct and the individual items should refer to the pattern or some other
embellishment to be applied to the plain item in order to decorate it (good thing
I've had some coffee already this morning)

LordSkylark has asked for a category split of the Aircraft category into patterned
and non-patterned parts. I decided to succumb to his demand and have created
a new category titled Aircraft, Pattern. Now you can look at it on the parts
category page and see if you prefer the way things are now or the way I suggest
we do things.

As to the actual split of the categories, good thing except, I would, for the
reasons above, stick to "decorated" as opposed to "pattern" in the category name.
Personally I would add to the 2 parts in that category that are not specified,
either "printed" or "sticker" as it is not exactly clear what they are, unless
the feeling is that the default is printed.

Provide input, please.

Cool thanks, this is helpful in itself, maybe more so for new users who might
have all of Bricklink's and TLG's terminologies down pat yet (think legos)

This list is not yet official and will change. It will have more detailed descriptions
of figures and hopefully better photos. It will also move from the current location
to an unknown location in the Catalog Help Center section. Or, of course, it
could also get shot down.

I have also asked that the item type Minifigs be retitled to Figures
in light of the wide range of figures of all different sizes we include in this
one section - no word on if this will happen or not. So the six item types would
be:

Sets
Parts
Figures
Books
Catalogs
Gear

Thanks long overdue

This is truly a sneak peak for everyone - the people at the BrickLink office
haven't even seen it yet:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=88

Your thoughts on this list and the item type retitle? Do you find this list
of figure types useful or is it something not needed?

I'm just noting that there's a mix of apples and oranges in this column.

Right, and I did think of that and disliked it. I have most of the 4 Juniors
sets done now according to the guidelines:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?catType=M&catString=516&itemBrand=1000

Honestly, when I see all those set numbers together on one page I don't much
care for the idea of including them at all. For those of you who want set numbers
added to the titles, do you like the way they look?

We could go with including them for one set only and use (Multiple Sets) after
that. This would fix the issue mfav pointed out. But, if I were the only person
deciding, I'd just leave them off completely except for figures which hadn't
yet been included in an inventory. They just look messy to me.

I'm honestly ambivalent about including the set numbers. On the one hand
I'd like a feature of the catalog to easily point out something unique (such
as a figure occurring only in 1 set). On the other hand, I have got issues with
all those numbers - they do look messy (and you've not done a figure that
is included in a book with the ISBN number as item number - 13 digits or three
books will have 39 digits!!). Also, how many inventory submitters are going to
remember to put those numbers in ascending order for name changes? Conversely,
how many submitters are going to remember to put a name change through for the
removal of the set number once the set has been inventoried? Or worse still,
which numbers do you order on: sets, gear or books, i e do you have a naming
convention that set numbers are first in line, ascending, then gear, then books?

So lets go with the work involved - which is easier: name changes for ascending
set numbers if you stick with three max (and I personally like the idea of 3+
sets in stead of multiple sets proposed in the other reply to this), or removing
set numbers from figures names once the inventory comes through? That is for
catmins to decide, as I said previously, if a person can remember to actually
do the name change request, it is not a huge extra effort as part of an inventory
submission to do so. Note that I'm not going with the workload to re-name
most if not all of the figures in the catalog, this will have to be done anyway
so including set numbers is just tacked on to that.

Furthermore, I've tested the searches on some of those 4 Juniors using just
the set numbers, and they do come up correctly as figures in the search results,
so from that perspective it works. But, and this is problematic, under what instance
would you search for a figure using the set number? If you have the figure or
a part of it, and do not know the set, you cannot do the search on that basis.
If you know the set number, then you can find the figure in its inventory. So
it would seem that I am back to my first argument - nice to have, and not necessarily
practical or user friendly in terms of look and feel (circular logic). If the
workload involved for the name changes referred to above is the same, then I
would just go for leaving the set numbers off altogether unless a set has not
been inventoried as yet and rather forgo the nice to have for a practical look
and feel.

Here are the guidelines I've come up with and am presenting for commentary
and modification. All of these sound complicated and they are - they'd be
intended more for the use of administrators, although they would be public in
the Help section. The result of these rules would be titles which are somewhat
less aesthetically pleasing (see the Arctic Batman example later in this post),
but which are consistent catalog-wide. They follow fairly well with what has
been done in the past:

Preliminary Section of Title:

The preliminary section of the title is not used for standard-sized minifigures.
This section describes the figure type (mini doll, microfigure, big figure,
Duplo figure, Technic figure, 4 Juniors figure, etc.). This section of the title
is not intended for the theme of a figure, does not include commas, and is separated
from the rest of the title with a dash.

To be truly consistent every figure should be titled the same way. Examples
are Figure, Technic and Figure, Belville, and Figure, Minifigure and Figure,
Microfigure and Figure, Statuette. However, it is possible to add too much to
titles and thus this approach was not used.

First Section of Title

The occupation or type of the figure goes here. These words would include firefighter,
pilot, race driver, doctor, knight, superhero, robot, droid, skeleton, zombie,
alien, etc. and should be used in identical ways for similar figures. Additional
occupations are listed in ascending alphabetical order up to a maximum of three
and are separated by a forward slash. Theme-specific words are used where appropriate.
For example, a Star Wars trooper is identified as Trooper, 212th Battalion or
Trooper, Clone, 41st Kashyyyk.

For figures which have no apparent occupation, the word "character" is used followed
by the theme without a comma. An example is Character Minecraft. For plain
figures with no torso pattern which also have no occupation, the term "plain
torso" is used, followed by the color. An example is Plain Torso, Red.

Second Section of Title:

This section includes the name of the figure if it has a name and is separated
from the first section by a comma. Additional names or name-type descriptors
are separated with a forward slash. For figures without a name, descriptions
are used. For multiple figures with the same name, the name is followed by a
comma and further descriptors separated by commas.

No two figures should have exactly the same title, but all descriptions should
be limited to the minimum necessary to differentiate one figure from another.
When describing a figure, characteristics should be listed in this order and
ended once the first differing characteristic is listed: torso assembly, hair/headgear,
body wear such as backpacks when applicable, head, and legs assembly. Titles
of individual items used for descriptors should be shortened where possible and
descriptor colors should be eliminated where possible. When descriptor colors
are required they should be placed after descriptors. The word "pattern" should
not be used in minifigure titles.

The sole exceptions for this section are Duplo figures which always include complete
descriptions in their titles.

Third Section of Title:

The set number in which the minifigure appears is included in round brackets
(parentheses) in ascending order and the -1 identifier is not used in the set
number unless it is greater than one. This information is only included for
figures which appear in three or fewer sets and combination/value packs are not
included. For figures which appear in more than three sets the term (Multiple
Sets) is used. The (Multiple Sets) identifier is necessary for consistency in
appearance and shows that the figure is in more than three sets. It also allows
members to easily identify figures for which this section of the title is missing.

Coda Section of Title:

This section is used for any additional information necessary and is separated
from the rest of the title with a dash. This information usually relates to
commerce, such as describing that a collectible minifigure entry is for only
the figure.

And that's everything. Let's see these rules in action: for each figure
below I've shown how titles would appear with these changes (several required
research to see if the colors included in the titles were actually necessary).

I find it easier to apply rather than discuss in the air as it were, so following
on from the above and using a few of the catalog items I've submitted, let
me see if I can get these correct from the word go. IMO, this would make it easy
to see where problems can be caused and also how easy it is to add to the catalog,
as well as for catmins when you start renaming. Maybe a sandbox forum topic for
this should be used, so these can be tested efficiently and in one place?

Anyway:

Minifig No: idea041 Name: Grandmother
*
idea041 (Inv) Grandmother
Minifigures: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)
would become: Character CUUSOO, Grandmother (21315)

Minifig No: 90398pb039 Name: Jack Statuette / Trophy
*
90398pb039 Jack Statuette / Trophy
Minifigures: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)
would become: Microfigure - Character CUUSOO, Jack (21315)

Minifig No: pln171 Name: Plain Red Torso with Red Arms, Dark Blue Legs, No Headgear, Black Eyebrows, Thin Grin
*
pln171 (Inv) Plain Red Torso with Red Arms, Dark Blue Legs, No Headgear, Black Eyebrows, Thin Grin
Minifigures: School Supplies
would become: Plain Torso, Red (Gear 81087)

Minifig No: frnd274 Name: Friends Mia - Dark Purple Shorts, Dark Azure Plaid Shirt, Dark Red Ponytail
*
frnd274 (Inv) Friends Mia - Dark Purple Shorts, Dark Azure Plaid Shirt, Dark Red Ponytail
Minifigures: Friends
would become: Mini Doll - Character Friends, Mia, Dark Azure Plaid Shirt, Dark
Purple Shorts, (10749, 41345)

Minifig No: hol130 Name: Snowman with 2 x 2 Curved Top Brick as Legs
*
hol130 (Inv) Snowman with 2 x 2 Curved Top Brick as Legs
Minifigures: Holiday & Event: Christmas
would become: Snowman, 2 x 2 Curved Top Brick as Legs (60201)

A few problems I had:
Gear numbers are not set numbers, so the set number should be the standard and
gear items should be stated as such.
The snowman is strictly not a minifig, but I do not think that something like
is Parts Figures or Figure from Parts should be used, in this case, the identifier
should be the part that does not conform to it being a standard Figure.

I'll work through a few more later, but for the time being, is this moving
in the right direction?

Thank you for providing the detailed rules as you envisage them, IMO this approach
will make things easier to add and identify.
