Since we, as sellers, can't control buyer behavior, and refunding payments
like this costs us money and hassle and possibly a lost sale, there should be
a way we can manually submit the tax payment to BrickLink.

I know, very complicated... but an obvious solution.

Can the seller issue a credit for the amount already paid, then send an invoice
for a nominal amount? I realize this wouldn't get the full tax amount but
it would (in theory at least) allow the payment status to be paid, and the order
to be marked as shipped.

You can request to cancel but ultimately only the seller can actually cancel

I think he's suggesting that your prices are high - at least one of your

I was parting one this eve from a friend's set from 2012, #3315. The
set has Light Bluish Gray in it. However, some of the 2x2 plate and 1x2 tile
were clearly different from the LBG. So, I pulled a piece from the older Light
Gray, it a shade different but closer to LG than LBG. Would this have been possible
during that year?

There definitely would not have been any light gray in a set from 2012, only
light bluish gray. And there are definitely color variations there - additionally,
there are some LBG elements that have a hint of translucency, I guess because
not enough dye was added to the plastic.

Hi. Kind of new to the world of designing unique Lego models. I am designing
a Lego model that includes a large change in elevation (a large hill, basically).
Although I could build the substructure of the hill out of Lego bricks, it would
take a massive number of them and am trying to keep costs reasonable. I am thinking
of building a sub structure out of bass wood that would go underneath that section
of the model, with the ground in Lego bricks above it. (so from the outside,
it would look like it was 100% Lego). Is that considered cheating? Or is it
commonplace to build foundation supports out of non-Lego material?

There are models at LEGOLAND parks that use steel for support so why not wood?

The confusing part is often down to tax and should it be included or not. If
a US buyer buys from a US seller, they will have a tax based on the buyer's
state. If a UK or EU buyer's buys from the same seller, a different tax rate
is paid. These then lead to different prices for the same parts at the same base
price. Which should I see? Prices paid or what I would have had to pay - their
tax rate or my tax rate.

Prices shown to US buyers don't include tax - I guess that's one difference
between sales tax and VAT

No one who can shine a light on this?

I didn't answer because you said you preferred an admin answer. I'm not
sure what you mean by "lot limit" above. Do you mean *any* lot limit,
like 600 or 1000? I can confirm from my own buying that shops with a lot limit
that is high are not excluded from "Buy All". I just tested with one
of my wanted lists and not only were stores with lot limits not excluded from
"Buy All", they were not excluded from "Auto-select" either.

Gonna be interesting future for BL sellers I guess.
What do you think about? Do Lego offer this service also for US market?

Then do this and click "Download My Orders"

It is obvious orders for parts that he gets, he will turn around and buy on lego.com,

have these parts on hand.

Is this something BrickLink and its community should allow?

They're pretty similar. Both PayPal and Stripe used to be 2.9% + $0.30 per
transaction. PayPal recently raised their fees to 3.49% + $0.49 but it looks
like Stripe is still the same as before. But I would still recommend accepting
PayPal since so many buyers and sellers on BrickLink use it.

Stripe is the same as before BUT if you want seller protection akin to what PayPal
offers then I think the fee goes up to be more or less the same as PayPal's
current fee.

  Good morning bricklinkers

I am a new store in the uk looking to shipping international as well as domestic.
How would I go about it as I am aware there is a IOSS number that is required.
Where would I find this from

Any help would be much appreciated

Brick central uk

The key thing is that the IOSS number has to be sent electronically - it won't
suffice to put it on the package itself. Maybe someone who is more familiar with
how the Royal Mail operates can weigh in - in the US it means that you have to
buy the postage online, and not every vendor allows the IOSS number to be entered.

If you ship outside of the EU (e.g. USA, Canada, Norway) then you don't have
to worry about an IOSS number. BL will collect sales tax for the USA, and there
are no customs fees; but Canadian and Norwegian buyers will have to pay VAT/sales
tax and maybe customs fees as well.

Yes, you can tell by the ratio of orders to feedback that at least a few buyers
chose to leave no feedback at all rather than a neutral or negative.

As the buyer what he would prefer. Personally I would combine and refund the
shipping for one of the order, if that's what the buyer wanted.

This item is nowhere near the instruction manual during the assembly process.

It was added based on sealed set contents and confirmed twice by sealed set contents.
So it really is part of this set.

Maybe add an inv note to say that this part comes in the set but it is not used
in the instrucctions?

If it's legitimately not used to build the set (I've confirmed this)
wouldn't that make it an extra part?

Flat rate is more expensive than using your own box and buying priority mail
postage at commercial rates (e.g. through Pirate Ship) - even if you're buying
flat rate postage at the commercial rate.

FWIW I went to your store and put something in my cart and the shipping cost
seemed about right, maybe even a bit high.

Are you buying postage commercially or at the retail counter? I'd recommend
switching to the former if you're doing the latter - you'll save yourself
a lot of money.

Hello!

In honor of selling nearly 20K parts in the last year, and over 40K parts since opening our store in 2020, we're currently offering 20-40% off all new parts. We've also lowered our threshold for free domestic shipping from $50 to $35.

Sale prices will be good through 1/20.

  Hello everyone,
I’m brand new to selling on Bricklink. I’ve sold on other online platforms for
years. I recently received my first two Bricklink orders and shipped via PirateShip.
Is there a way to automatically provide tracking to the buyer or do we just copy
and paste to an email for them? I appreciate any help with this. I just want
to provide a seamless experience for my customers.

Scott

For each order:

1 - Go to the order detail page
2 - Click "Edit order" near the bottom
3 - Copy and paste the tracking number in the appropriate field

4 - Edit your "drive thru" template to include tracking information -
the macro (wrapped in less than/greater than signs like an HTML tag) is ORDERTRACKNO

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/message_templates.page

5 - send drive thru message to buyers

Additionally, if you paste the buyer's email address into the appropriate
field when you buy the shipping label, I believe Pirate Ship will send an email
with tracking information (I'm not sure as I've never used this feature).

Yes

Not for Norway

In case he/she has to pay 25% VAT, does my buyer know this?

He or she should definitely be aware of this

What happens if they do not want to pay this?

I'm not sure. It may be sent back to the seller.

As a last resort, is it possible to cancel the order from my side and repay my
buyer, without having to pay the fee to stripe and BL for the sale (as it will
not take place)?

I don't know about Stripe but if you refund the buyer in full you can then
cancel the order on BL so you don't have to pay fees.

It's $50 when you buy at the counter. I agree it's a bit odd but I guess

It seems a customer of mine had their package stolen. I sent their package. I
did not hear from them, assuming everything was ok, until they contacted me during
the holidays two weeks from the ship date. The customer asked me for the tracking
number. I looked up into the number, and it was indicated the package has been
delivered, and left at their front door/porch. I suspect it may have been stolen,
and they asked me to fill out a claim.

However, it is not my responsibility to fill out a claim on their behalf. The
customer should be responsible to fill out a claim. They used USPS’ Priority
Mail, and the packages are already insured for certain claims, up to $50. Their
order was less that amount. What are your advice/tips on resolving this issue?
Thanks!

Couple things. First, to mitigate this sort of thing in the future, you should
give the buyer the tracking number right away (maybe you did, but I see in your
message that the buyer asked you for it, indicating that you didn't enter
it into the order detail screen or put it in the "drive-thru" email).
If the buyer has the tracking number, he or she can change the delivery instructions,
such as asking that the package be held at the post office if he or she isn't
going to be at the house for a while (away for the holidays or whatever). In
fact I had a buyer do just this in the latter part of last month.

Second, it is the seller's responsibility to file a claim because
the insurance won't refund the buyer - only the seller, who can then refund
the buyer. USPS probably won't refund in this case since the tracking shows
delivered, but there is the possibility that they delivered to the wrong address.

Third, you mentioned $50 insurance. Are you buying postage retail at the counter?
You can save a good bit, plus get $100 insurance, by buying postage at commercial
rates through (e.g.) Pirate Ship or PayPal/ShipStation.

At first I thought, maybe only the date is stored and the time differences are

but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm betting that it happens only
if you happen to click through at the exact right time.

Now I am wondering, after I bought 4 and the stores are synced showing 2 in each
store. Along comes the next buyer looking for four, do they not end up skipping
both stores because neither can fulfill their quantity needs? (When actually
both could)

Yes, that is what would happen.

even if I bought the 4 parts after the sync?

OK, I understand you now.

To be clear

Day 1: Store A has 6 of X and Store B has 2
Day 2: No one has bought any X so both Store A and Store B have 4 X's
*legomalego buys 4 X's from Store A*
Day 3: 4 X's are shipped to legomalego from Store A & B's central location
Also Day 3: legomalego was the only buyer who bought X on Day 2, so both Store
A and Store B now have 2 X's

No, you would not have been able to buy from that store because they wouldn't
have had them in inventory at the time.

I’ve also seen that with a store in the past although it was different countries
but the inventory was the exact same if I remember correctly

I feel like that would be a complete scammer store??? 😳

No, the stores had a business relationship and synchronized their stock on a
nightly(?) basis - like if store A had 6 of part X, and store B had 2 of the
same part, the after the sync they would both have 4. But between them they legitimately
had 8 X's.

The free version of Shipstation provided with PayPal doesn't support IOSS.
Maybe use Pirate Ship?

  Hi folks,

Once again I've made a sale to an EU member buyer, and once again I'm
stumped trying to provide the IOSS number as part of my USPS shipping. The Shipstation
interface I usually use doesn't have a field for "Importer's reference"
described in the VAT help (https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2517#ioss)
but, more worryingly, the USPS Click'n'Ship interface doesn't have
this field either.

Additionally, the "Learn More" on the help line stating "If you are
using USPS Intl Priority Mail, Intl First-Class, you should use the “Importer’s
reference” field to input our IOSS number." leads to a page (https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2518)
that doesn't mention IOSS or USPS.

How am I supposed to submit the IOSS number electronically to ensure my buyer
won't be charged for a pretty substantial VAT amount again?

Thank you in advance.

they were being charged...no mention of it in the terms and I have never even
heard of it. Is this normal? New? Thanks

I've heard of sellers doing it, but typically it would be mentioned in their
terms. Not a big fan of it whether it's mentioned or not.

Where is Dec 30th? (well Dec 31th was impossible to upload anything).

@all other members:

Can you please check if your uploaded parts/sets/items of Dec 29th and 30th are
IN your inventory?

Thanks for looking!

I've not had this issue

is guaranteed to have a logo on it, it's the torso.

Even with International Priority Shipping, which advertises 6-10 days, the package
has gone back and forth across the US and still hasn't left after 13 days
(going to three different locations in California)! I'm assuming it's
because ShipStation uses a forwarding service (like PirateShip's Global Export
Rate), but it's still incredibly disappointing.

I feel terrible for the buyer, who spent the extra money for priority (they haven't
reached out yet regarding the package). Has anyone else experienced this using
ShipStation and is there anything I can do regarding getting some of the rate
back and pass back on to the buyer if they reach out?

I don't think ShipStation would use a forwarding service if you chose International
Priority - at least I would hope they wouldn't! For example, even if you
have Pirate Ship's Simple Export Rate you can still use USPS or UPS if
you like, and pay the higher rate.

so maybe someone could change them if they know how to change Bricklink entries.

I think part of it is since if I'm not mistaken in Europe tax is built into
the price so they arent used to paying it as an extra cost

"Europe" is more complicated than that. The issue here is an EU buyer
buying from a non-EU country, but is within the EEA.

to the rest of the world europe is europe for lack of better words

Right, so an EU buyer would see prices without added VAT were he or she looking
at a Norwegian store. I guess the same if looking at an Icelandic store or a
store in Liechtenstein (although there do not appear to be any of these).

Just FYI, you can convert to a seller account even if you have no intention of
selling anything

  Hi.

1. I want to pull some data from BL into my collection tracker in Google Sheets.
According to the API docs here https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page ,I am supposed
to use this URL to get a consumer key

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/api/register_consumer.page

But it says "Seller only, you must register as a seller".

Is this a hard requirement? I am a private person. Or is it just to perform additional
checks?

2. Also, I've learned that there is a limit of 5000 requests/day. While my
collection did not yet reach even 25% of that (yet ) I want to be mindful
of BL resources. Is there a way to perform bulk requests (same API on a range
of similar items, for instance, pull details on 10 sets in one go)?

Many thanks in advance!

Partly my fault?
If you would really look into this case you would possibly notice this buyer
has no intention at all to buy and or pay.
Well, this is at least my idea looking at a minus 8.

And IC would have stopped them from messing you around. Putting a barrier (here,
payment) in front of someone here that wants to cause chaos means they ignore
you and go on and do it to someone else. Of course, IC can fail where there is
no postage option, or if the buyer can find parts in your store with missing
data, but finding those is also a barrier to their behaviour.

If you use the setting to only allow IC methods to new buyers then I don't
think even the "failsafe" manual option will work.

If you add more parts to your inventory and some are sold before you send notifications,

I have quite a few parts to notify about but I am concerned that the inventory

had this happen before ?

I've had it happen several times and can confirm that they will not show
as available for purchase - nor will notifications be sent for them.
