The above store has the above item for sale, and lists it as "New, Sealed",
however it states in the description the following:
Contents removed and rebadged in baggie, comes with all parts, accessories and
instructions
Is it allowed to state a set is "New, Sealed", if it has been removed
and rebadged in baggie?
I would not normally expect this to be listed as an actual "New, Sealed"
set, however, it's been a while since I've purchased anything on BrickLink
and the description of this item, to me, does not match it's condition.
If anyone can point out the relevant BrickLink policies that make this an actual
and valid listing, please enlighten me.
If this post belongs in a different topic please move it and notify me, if possible.
|
I guess it should be "New, Complete" although even that is debatable
if the original foil package isn't included.

| Thus far I've read in the forum:
(1) it's better to store minifigs with the hips off since leaving them on
can cause the torso to crack, and
(2) it's better to sell new minifigures assembled since the torsos can crack
when the legs are put on
In General, rab1234 writes:
| I keep seeing people say that torsos crack from legs being kept inserted. Personally
I’ve had hundreds of heavily played with figs from 1980 to early 90s that were
then stored in a variety of attics and basements for the next 30 years and none
of them developed cracks in the torsos from legs being left in. My experience
tells me that it’s the removal and swapping of arms that is far more likely to
cause damage. That being said, I didn’t have any figs from mid 90s to about 2015
and plastics could be different (like reddish brown and dark reds from around
2010). None of my display figs or kids’ figs from around 2015 onward have developed
cracks either.

it back. The few that I have sold were always questioned if it was authentic,
so I decided to try grading. It graded at 90+ (93.3), which I'm happy with
as the helmet is a little off.
I'm unsure if I'm going to sell it, but I'm curious about the value
now. Any thoughts on the list price if I was to list it? I also have Cloud
City Lando (92.1) and Luke (93.8).
Thanks, Liger99
|
I'm wondering if this will actually preserve the figure.
Generally it's better to store with hips off since side cracking usually
forms from pressure of the legs being pressed onto the torso.
Shouldn't be an issue, but abs plastic does off-gas as well, many years after
production. Though I've personally had no issue with parts sealed in air-tight
bags for decades.

It has been this way for decades (it’s a requirement to enter EEC/EU).
Before the IOSS scheme of 2021, it was even more expensive as you had to pay
the brokerage fee for packages between €22 and €150 too.
Thas is,
before 2021: 0-22 = free, 22-150 = VAT + fee, 150+ = duty + VAT + fee
now: 0-150 = VAT, no fee, 150+ = duty + VAT + fee

What can be worse about it now is that buyers can be double-charged for VAT if
the IOSS number isn't sent correctly by the seller or received correctly
by the destination country

They have to pay VAT, which BrickLink will automatically collect if the value
is under 150 euro.
I don't know how UPS works in Europe but in Canada they have very high brokerage
fees in addition to customs fees (that is, they charge you an additional fee
for acting as the broker in paying customs). I would avoid using them for international

That's the one question I still have myself. The original submitter may
have grabbed a minifigure from a different set by accident and put the parka/hood

headed Solo with a parka/hood. The catalog submissions were a little more lax
back then, which is probably how it initially got through.

There also is not, as far as I could tell, a torso assembly with that torso and
yellow hands - that is the primary reason for my question. So it seems the original

yellow hands on it.

This is true but Priority Mail can be significantly cheaper if you use your own
boxes and get the commercial Cubic rate (which you can get through e.g. Pirate

But my understanding is that some coders are working on the whole revamp of the
whole system and have continued to do so while other coders made this new feature.
You can't necessarily get the revamp done faster by putting more cooks in
the kitchen. I'm not a coder. I took a class 20 years ago and learned the
basics, but the biggest thing I learned was that I couldn't imagine the jump
from "making a program that could receive a date and output the day of the week"
to "making a program that has 100 soldiers marching around on the screen fighting
with swords while 100 more dig up gold and run some farms". I just don't
know.
|
So, as far as stockrooms are concerned it depends on how it was set up. Like
let's say each stockroom has a unique identifier. Then if there are fields
stockroomA, stockroomB, and stockroomC associated with a user record, those unique
identifiers can go there. On the other hand, if you set it up in such a way that
you can store an enumerated list of stockroom IDs for each user, or (relationally)
a separate table linking user identifiers to stockroom IDs, then there's
not necessarily a limit.

checked. So you can easily check if an order is complete especially for orders
with a high lot count.
|
If you're comfortable using the browser console, you can do this:
|
Ugh emojis
document.querySelectorAll( 'input[ name="tempBox" ]:checked' ).length

PS I've just tested this on a very large (for me) order and it worked like
a charm. It might also be possible to get the quantity but I haven't attempted
that yet.

just wanted to ask how many else have similar problems and any tips what to do
if it happens. I bought a quite expensive set here from brick link site and i
got in few days as promised.Nicely wrapped and all the intructions and box where
in good shape but it had unfortunately parts missing ( there were plenty of extra
parts but none of them helped). I was in touch with a seller first response was
from him that i have missed them and are somewhere in the box or bags. 7 out
of ten times that can happen but not in this case i went all parts thru separated
them in to bags and douple checked everything. In sellers add it was said it
is complete set. I been in touch with seller he responded to me compensating
me with 7€ and i can look the missing parts myself. Is it my job to look those
parts ..? Money plays no role here its just what are those sellers responsobilities
on these issues. Comments tips much appreciated

In situations where I miss pieces in orders, I will offer to replace them if
I have them or give a refund for them. I have never bought replacements myself
for a buyer, as I feel it is less complicated and overall better for the customer
if I refund them and they do it themselves.
|
Agreed - hopefully the refund will be sufficient for the buyer in this case to
acquire the missing pieces.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's right to issue problem reports against
a seller's listings either though. Because you really don't have any
proof without buying the items yourself. So really not sure what can be done
other than complain in the forum. :/
|
Don't know if it is still being done, but Amazon used to make test buys of
jewelry from third party sellers. I doubt BL would do that but it's the only
sure way to get proof.
|
I'm not sure that would actually be helpful in many cases - I've no doubt
that many used-sold-as-new minifigures here on BL actually look new. And isn't
it much more likely that a minifigure was displayed in a case for 30-40 years
than it was stored away?

There are many, many small sellers. Who would be responsible for picking the
small stores to advertise this way, and who would resolve complaints about unfairness
in the selection made? Personally, I think a level playing field is more appropriate,
where any store can advertise whatever information about themselves they want
to and buyers find the stores that they want to deal with through stock availability,
checking feedback, etc.

It could be tied to parting out sets or otherwise making additions to the catalogue

the store is sending me the wrong parts or broken parts. In some cases, very
expensive parts. It is becoming very annoying to have to contact the stores that
have these items first to make sure they have the correct parts in the variation
I need.
|
As a seller, I understand how difficult it can be to maintain accuracy. Most
sellers here are doing this as a hobby and not as a primary source of income,
so they don't have the time and money to invest in a color chart and learning
all of the different variants. And when an order has many lots, it is easy to
make a mistake.
|
Speaking only for myself, I'm not sure a color chart would be helpful, at
least not for the colors I typically have difficulty telling apart (light gray
and light bluish gray).

Yes, I noticed Rebrickable has the new parts/assembly in their 10497 Galaxy Explorer

Is it true these differences will make the item un-deliverable for USPS?

It should not be but if it's going through automated machines then the street
address might be confusing. It's clear the postal code is being read just
fine, that is why it keeps going to South Carolina (SC).
However I really don't understand why you can't contact USPS. Ask the
buyer for his phone number.

Scrolling doesn't change, you just see a part of a shop.
Tried on my favorite guinea pig:
https://store.bricklink.com/Nubs_Select
Tested on Firefox (latest) and Edge, same result.
It's very recent, it worked a few hours ago.
Other pages seem OK, including forum.

My guess is this, they have the CSS file on a separate server (this is normal)
and *that* is down (not necessarily normal, but it did happen with AWS this afternoon).

And it's back! And I looked at the code and they have a separate server for
static content (which would include CSS, JS, images, etc.)

| Of all the things mentioned I think the fee on the tax is the least outrageous,
since one must pay PayPal fees on sales tax even though the sales tax is collected
and remitted by a third party. Still, 25% is exorbitant regardless - indeed,
anything over 5% for PayPal*, and 3% for BrickLink**, is.
*Yes I know the math doesn't quite work out - 4.99% of $100 + $5 is $5.24.
**Same as above with math, additionally charging your customers for your own
selling fees is a bit greedy, imho

Just file it and don't worry about it, above all don't update to "Completed"
or contact the buyer about it any more.
