This is my first change request, so I apologize if I've filled this incorrectly. The inventory lists 2x 35463 (white) but it should be 2x 15070 (white). I have the set here in front of me, and the instructions also show the proper piece.

Thanks for catching this.

The inventory here was from sealed set contents, also, and you were the one who
approved the inventory. Did you contact Jean (member bje) to see what part they
really had? It obviously could have been an easy mistake, but maybe they had
the other part by chance?

The development team at BrickLink updated the Inventory Change Request form about

less confusing, they also broke the form for making changes to items. I have

For now, I can just add the Match IDs manually.

This set was originally inventoried from "Parts List", and the thin string was
added as an alternate pretty quickly after the inventory was created (just a
few months). Also, some basic errors were corrected just a few days after the
inventory was submitted.
With that information, and the fact that we can see the thin string version in
sealed set contents, I think it is pretty safe to say that the thin string version
was always the correct one. I am going to remove the medium string completely
once your changes are accepted.
Cheers,
Randy
|
Also, the images from that sealed set with the thin string also show all of the
older versions of the other parts that are currently listed as having alternates.
Therefore, that set is probably close to an original production run and that
makes me even more confident that the thin string was always included from the
beginning.

Randy

Hi Randy,
All wires and connectors came assembled except few service packs in 80s like
1135-1, 1135-2, 1135-3, 5065-1,... but the image on the packaging or in the catalogs
for these service packs clearly shows that the connectors came separate however
the image of 5061-1, 5063-1, 702-3 shows the connectors and wires came pre-assembled
(since the purpose of these service packs were different).
AI don't know why all the wires and connectors were listed separate. I changed
many of them coming with sets like 7860,... Maybe these were copied from Peeron?
I think we can list all connectors and their wires assembled unless if we have
a proof that they did not come assembled.
|
+1
For me too, exept services packs, we have a good chance that the cable came assembled.
To assemble the connector you need a precision screwdrivers and (very) basic
knowledge how to connect wire.
Not everybody have precision screwdrivers at home.
The connector have 3 wires with only 2 colors, so you need to connect both connectors
the same way
-Fred
|
I discussed this with Stefaan, since he had confirmed the set years ago from
"Sealed Set Contents" (even though the set was probably not ever "sealed"). He
had the wire and connectors all together, and he told me that it was customary
years ago on BrickLink to separate these wires into their smallest components
in the inventories. Therefore, these changes will be accepted. Thanks for all
the help, guys!

Marek and I took the time to research this with input from multiple people, and
we have come to the conclusion that uncertainty remains about this set.
The set was inventoried from sealed set contents, so it is hard to believe that
the original submitter of the inventory would make such large mistakes. Also,
the only proof that something may be different is the images of the set. These
images are not always correct on promotional items, and these sets were not factory
packaged. Therefore it is easy to come to the conclusion that alternate parts
may have been substituted in some sets or have had different parts from the images
altogether.
For now, the inventory will remain as is and these requests will be rejected.
BrickLink inventories come with a disclaimer that they are not guaranteed to
be accurate, so I think what we currently have is going to come as close to accurate
as it can be for now.

I can't tell. They were found in used bricks I bought. According to BrickLink:
1984-2018 (timeline of 4624 wheel).

Hi
Yes they are factory pre-assembled wheels.
The first ones that came out were glued or pressed together.
Same for the 3464c02 and 4624c01 and 4624c02.
(from 1984-85 till I think begin 90s)
Also same for the first 6015 type with the 6014a.
The rubber is also harder, the assembles are softer in rubber.

No. The preassembled wheels pop right off of the tires just like ones you would
put together yourself.

Trying to find a difference, I just disassembled one of the ones that is hard
to disassemble (I needed a pen to pop the wheel out by using force). Testing
against one of my regular 4624 tires, there is an obvious difference: The rubber
is harder (they require more force to squeeze), which explains why it's harder
to disassemble them from the wheels.
Has anyone noticed a difference in material used for the 4624 tires through time?

Never heard of or seen any.
The parts in your image definitely look like they have been "glued" using some
sort of solvent that "melts" the exterior of an ABS part (in this case, the wheels).
I would guess methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or something similar.

Marek and I have both looked over and studied all of your research. After that,
we had a discussion concerning all of it and we have reached a conclusion. At
this time, we are not going to make any changes to this inventory concerning
the motors.
I know you have spent a lot of time researching this topic, and your research
is very thorough and much appreciated. I think Marek and I both learned quite
a bit.
However, and this is the sticking point, all of your research still comes with
assumptions that are being made. All of the sets provided as evidence were still
second-hand sets that were not in the hands of the original owners. If we had
one original owner come forward and say, "I owned this copy of this train
set all my life, I never mixed it with anything, and it does have the older motor.",
then we would have no problem accepting this request. But, we don't. What
we have is someone trying to put together a picture that may not be correct even
if it seems to be correct.
What I will do is add an inventory note to the set that states it *may* have
come with the earlier motor due to some research that has been done, but it is
not guaranteed.
Thanks,
Randy

Minifig inventories cannot have alternate items, so a request such as this cannot
be handled by the form. Due to this, this request will be rejected. However,
the changes you were looking to make have been handled to the best of our abilities
at this time by adding an inventory note to the minifig and adding the alternate

As Marek stated in response to your other request similar to this, the next time
you find a situation like this, you can just post a message to the "Inventory"

BrickLink has not had an official Catalog Admin since January 10.
Since then, the catalog overseer at BrickLink - Admin_Russell - has been filling
in for the duties when he can, but he has a lot of other stuff on his plate.
Until BrickLink gets a new Catalog Admin, the backlog will continue to grow.

There is no doubt that 11l should be in regular section and 10l in counterparts
because it is permanently changed during the building. In my opinion I think
I would treat 1l as "waste" similary to sprues and not add it to the counterpart
section.

Thanks, Marek. I am glad that we agree.
Jan, please go ahead and submit the proper change requests to have the 11L hoses
as Regular Items and the 10L hoses as Counterparts. Also, very nice catch!

We do not usually accept change requests based upon box images or instructions
alone, as the box images or instructions can sometimes show completely different
parts than what actually came in the set.
Therefore, without further evidence I would have rejected this request.
Luckily though, I found a YouTube review for this set by BrickLink member go4bob
that shows him reviewing his original set that was originally sealed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GGX_e6O12o
Member go4bob had already requested to have the extras of this set added to the
inventory in October of 2017:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=6330-1&viewDate=Y&viewStatus=1
The set in his review does indeed have the Trans-Dark Blue windscreen for the
helicopter.
The only thing that I am now not sure of is if the Trans-Light Blue windscreen
ever came in any of the sets. I found some used sets for sale that did have Trans-Light
Blue windscreens, but they could have been parted together by sellers from the
current BrickLink inventory.
Since go4bob's set review agrees with the instructions and box, I believe
this request to be correct.
If someone comes forward with good evidence of the Trans-Light Blue windscreen
in the future, it can be added as an alternate.
Cheers,
Randy

the hoses are 11L in sealed sets. But the instructions require the builder to
cut 1L off them (see page 39), so that they are 10L. So when selling a used set,
including 10L hoses should be okay. Also, two 1L hoses could be added to make
the set 100% complete.
|
That would not be necessary as the 1L hoses could be considered waste like the
leftover plastic from plastic sheets, the sprues left over from parts on a sprue,
etc. The 10L hoses would make the used set complete.
| But at this point, the inventory only states 11L hoses are valid contents of this
set.
|
Right now, I only see 10L hoses in the set. Was that a typo?
| How should this situation be handled? Should 10L hoses be added as alternates
or counterparts? And should the 1L hoses be added as extras?

Hi Randy,
The only reason I've kept Pearl Light Gray in is because I have seen an image
of the part in that colour (see the image just submitted for PLG) and that is
the original inventory
I've submitted a new image for LBG as well and if the consensus is that it
is the more common variation than maybe PLG should be marked as the alternate.
There seem to be a few DUPLO parts where lego has alternated between PLG and
LBG during the run of a set.

Thanks for the information, Mark. That image that you submitted for PLG definitely
looks like PLG, so I will move ahead with this request.

The part you are trying to change is a part that comes with two 4073 Plate,
Round 1 x 1 on a sprue:
[p=4073c01]
If you multiply the five of this part in the inventory times the two
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1 on each sprue, you end up with ten 4073 Plate,
Round 1 x 1.
Therefore, the inventory is correct as it stands since it has the required parts
