All finished! The admins approved in less than 12 hours by the way.

Good luck with the part out! There are lots of great parts in this set.

Replace "decorated" categories with 2 new categories, "printed" and "with stickers".

You can achieve much the same thing by searching -sticker in the decorated category.

that one of the requirements would be to make sure inventories are always done.

But anyways all I’m asking for is if someone had time and wanted $20 to do it
then great. If no one wants to do it then I would offer 30$ etc. That being said
even if you do it and I pay you there is no guarantee the admin staff will even
approve it. That’s just the risk I have to take.

?? There is no risk whatsoever. Admin approve all set inventories that are correct.
And they help submitters to make an inventory correct. I am not sure where you
are coming from in all this. Give me a couple days to complete the inventory
and you will see that the system works just fine.

Jen

I figured by now it would be pretty instant for inventories to get listed with
lego now owning this site. I’m hoping this site isn’t still using volunteers
to do inventory

I wondering what your thought process is on this subject. What does the recent
acquisition have to do with the speed at which inventories are completed on BrickLink?

My thought process is that the Lego Group owns bricklink and could potentially
instantly upload all inventories of sets that are released. You from what I understand
are now employed by Lego so I assume you would know more about what the capabilities
are.

But maybe it’s just going to take some cash to fix the situation. Maybe I need
to offer 40$ or 100$ for someone to inventory the set. You can call it a side
job or a bounty or something along those lines. I had thought that the Lego group
would have helped in this area but I guess inventories still rely on volunteers.
I really have no clue but I’m willing to pay someone to do it if someone wants
to make some cash.

Well I would obviously see what’s the lowest price I can get it done for. Hopefully
20$ or 40$. Even still I realize that I would have to wait for an admin to approve
it. I’m just trying to help myself and the community. I’m
Not looking for a debate or argument

Sorry you feel so negative about all this. Our system works with volunteers and
the LEGO group could not provide all the necessary info for a good inventory.
Just look at the differences between our inventories and Brickset's if you
need some examples. No pattern names, no minifigs, no part variations, no sticker
sheets, no extras. Anyway, you posted that you needed an inventory and someone
offered to do it. How bad can things be?

Take care,
Jen

Sure! I'll play along...

I am not convinced that 90460 is really a new version of 6131.

Part No: 90460 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hat, Wizard / Witch, Slightly Textured
*
90460 Minifigure, Headgear Hat, Wizard / Witch, Slightly Textured
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

Part No: 6131 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hat, Wizard / Witch
*
6131 Minifigure, Headgear Hat, Wizard / Witch
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

They look the same and LEGO uses the same thumbnail image for both. The small
image in Dark Green that I submitted for 90460 was back in the days before I
knew what I was doing. I cannot confirm the part number or what set it was from.
(I guess we all start somewhere!)

Anyway, I would like to see convincing side by side proof that they are significantly
different even if they have different mold numbers. I have not found any molded
with 90460. My Witch from Series 2 has been played with so I cannot confirm it
there either.

I am open to hearing any ideas or missing information about this!
Thanks,
Jen

  Hello,

I was wondering if a feature or timer, to see whether a BrickLink
member is active or has been active (like on FB messenger or WhatsApp), would
be a great idea.

The reason why I'm wondering:
I'm sure there are members who logs in daily to see if another
member has reacted to their order('s invoice)/message, and are nervously
waiting until he/she/they react(s).

It will also be handy to see if a member (who placed an order on your store)
is active on BL and isn't responding to your multiple messages (or just ignoring),
and easier to decide to cancel an order.

For example (my example):
There is a member (USA) who has placed an order on my store (Belgium) a few days
ago. I instantly filled in and sent the invoice to serve him and be able to send
the parcel (after payment) as quickly as possible. But until now, two days later,
he hasn't read the message nor has paid for the order. Now I'm just wondering
if he was active or not lately... cause the hole situation is making me nervous.
I know I should be patient... but I find it kind of weird he responded very quickly
to my last call for buying, and afterwards not responding anymore.

So if you recognize yourself in such a situation, maybe vote 'YES' and
perhaps selling on BL will be more pleasant and more serious. I'm sure there
is a lot of members thinking this way, isn't it?

Kindly greetings,

Yapke

Yes, we used to have the ability to see when a buyer had last logged on. This
feature was just removed last month due to 'privacy' issues. It's
unfortunate as it was a valuable tool for sellers. Hopefully, they find a way
to restore it soon.

Another vote here for Azul and Wingspan. We also play a lot of Scythe, Terraforming

Carcassone, Agricola, and Belfort are my all time favorites. I can't play

Any possibility we could get a "break multipacks into parts" option on the part

That would be ideal but would require actual programming to put into place. Any
programmers work at this website?? Oh, never mind.

The printed parts list is the only thing that matters. It is a widespread misunderstanding

the set according to the instructions.

Wow, this is a pretty bold incorrect assertion. I was an inventory admin for
three years. The building instructions are the ultimate source for accurate inventories.
Not every set follows every rule, but that is where everything starts.

Like I said before, the system *as it is* handles the overwhelming majority of
figures with absolutely no problems (I would put it at greater than 95% for sure).
I don't see why we need to tear down the entire structure and begin from
scratch on creating a system that MAY include 100% of figures when the *massive*
amount of work required for this from a *volunteer* team would far outweigh any
added benefits of making the last few percentage points of figures fit into said
system. The math just does not make sense.

Cheers,
Randy

I am totally with you here Randy. Our system isn't perfect, but it is stable,
and LEGO makes constant changes so not everything fits exactly. Of course there
is always room for improvement, but system-wide changes are not necessarily needed
to correct small historical inconsistencies. It is very disruptive for sellers
to have listings, categories, and inventories updated.

Just my two cents as a seller and contributor. Thanks to all who help maintain
and improve the unique resource we have here!

I'm giving up .

That's too bad. The catalog Add or Change pages are very specific out of
necessity. If you are trying to reserve an item, you are already to the inventory
section. All you need to do to add a new minifig is go to the Catalog Add or
Change tab and then click Add Item: -Minifig. Then, it gets much more complicated!
People here will answer questions so don't struggle with any one step too
long.

Good luck,

Sorry, but I must say that I take offense at this statement. You are passing
judgement on the previous admins and their reasons for leaving the site. You
are implying that the 'correct' attitude would be to maintain one's
dedication to a site even after you may have had a bad experience.
You don't know how they were treated by the management and members of this

My point was that if you categorize it as a bushing, you don't need to worry
about the length of it at all. You don't see the axle bushing above listed
as a "Technic Bush 1L". It is just "Technic Bush". So change that one to "Technic
Axle Bush" and

Part No: 18654 Name: Technic, Liftarm Thick 1 x 1 (Spacer)
*
18654 Technic, Liftarm Thick 1 x 1 (Spacer)
Parts: Technic, Liftarm
to "Technic Pin Bush" and problem solved. No need to worry about the length at
all. Like I said, it doesn't and can't connect pins or axles at all,
so it is definitely *not* a "Technic, Pin Connector". And that's a fact.

I submitted changes along this train of thought long ago but they were not approved.
It is a 1x1 Liftarm in actuality but functions only as a bushing. I support moving
it to a more appropriate category.

Also can somone breakdown the torso numbering convention as well?

Standard torsos all start with:

973 (base part number used here on BrickLink)
pb (abbreviation for a part with a decoration)
xxxx (current number available)
c (abbreviation for a part that is an assembly)
01 (current number available for this assembly)

So, a completely new torso will be: 973pbxxxxc01

To find the next available number, do a Catalog (NOT All Items) search for 973pb*
then sort by Date, Order: Down

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&q=973pb%2A&catLike=W&sortBy=I&sortAsc=D&itemBrand=1000&v=1

Looks like 3472 was just used. I checked the Approval Pending Overview and 3473
and 3474 are Pending, so list yours as: 973pb3475c01

okay. You can still edit your Pending inventory. Click Market, Add or Change,

market. Any items that come loose in the box frequently include an extra.

Good luck all at working out these issues!

and no, there is no such box. That would probably be one of those "inventory

No, that doesn't help at all. Why can't sellers have an option to search
their inventory for items without dimensions so we can add our own? Unfortunately
there are a lot of items in the catalogue without dimensions that have been set
by default as weight bound rather than volume bound that can't (In Australia
at least) be sent as a large letter as they will exceed the 20mm maximum thickness.
This wasn't as big an issue in the past, but now with instant checkout it
is. Why should it matter if an item does or doesn't fit within the normal
stud/brick height system? Surely the main purpose of dimensions is for calculating
postage costs?
It's not that difficult to pull out a ruler or tape measure and measure
something. I'm happy to do it myself to my own inventory, just give me the
option to search for items that don't have catalogue dimensions like we can
for items without weight.

First, I didn't make this system and I would certainly NEVER defend it.
I was just trying to explain some the details.

Second, you can absolutely look up parts missing shipping dimensions in your
inventory. I don't use Instant Checkout, but I believe there is a checkbox
for Instant Checkout Unavailable on your My Inventory page.
Your original post seemed to be asking about item dimensions which are not the
same thing.

This is one of the incongruities of BrickLink. Dimensions are measured in studs
(system or duplo) in the Catalog, but the override fields below a lot entry are
in millimeters.

For example, a Duplo Brick 2600 shows on the catalog page as "Size: 2 x 6 x 1
in studs", but underneath a listed lot it is …

DimX(mm): 96mm
DimY(mm): 23.6mm
DimZ: (mm) 32mm
(and yes, the semi-colon is used inconsistently there)

I do not wish that we entered by studs for manual overrides, but it's clear
to me that the system is converting from one to another for the benefit of IC.
It's also clear that you can override any part to any set of dimensions if
you wanted to.

Nita Rae

The incongruity exists because BL has not yet decided to implement the newer
shipping data within the existing catalog structure and database.

Each part has a data field in the catalog for Item Dimensions (listed on each
catalog page as Size.) This is measured approximately in studs / brick height.
The data is supplied by members and is maintained by the Catalog Admin though
the forms on the Add or Change tab.

The newer shipping dimensions data was put in place along with Instant Checkout.
This data is only in mm. The data is not visible except on the My Inventory and
Order Detail pages. The data is maintained by the staff at BrickLink and is submitted
by members on a thread here in the Forum. I believe they originally calculated
many of their measurements from the catalog Item Dimensions data. They have not
maintained consistency in which measurements are X, Y, or Z, or how precise measurements
must be. However, you can change the data for each part in your own shop from
your Inventory detail page.

Hope that helps,
Jen

weight or items that won't work with instant checkout, but it won't help
with finding items that are set as weight bound by default with no dimensions
(Curved train track, some rollercoaster track) which are potentially too big
to send in a letter.

Prohibiting new sets from being inventoried without all the parts having weights
and dimensions would be a big help too, providing users don't add arbitrary
values which seems to be the case for 99% of instruction books at the moment.

There are more than 20,000 items in the catalog without dimensions. Catalog dimensions
are only added when the item fits within the normal stud/brick height system.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?v=3&itemDim=0

1x1 brick: dimensions are 1x1x1 in studs
minifig torso: ?

If it can't be reasonably measured in studs vs brick height, a part will
have no data at all.

Hope that helps,
Jen

Sets: Classic

* Delete 1 Part 2412b Flat Silver Tile, Modified 1 x 2 Grille with Bottom Groove / Lip (Extra)

Comments from Submitter:
This set doesn't contain extra 2412b in flat silver. I parted out 100 copies incl. extras and I find out, that I am 100 pieces of this part short now.

It is unfortunate you were caught short of these parts. I have heard this argument
so many times that it is indeed frustrating! However, the part out process has
a 'This part may or may not appear in your set' warning on every single
extra line item. Not sure why sellers would ignore this kind of warning?

Best of luck,

There is absolutely a 10-25% difference in the weight of most sets between the
North American and worldwide markets. The difference is the weight of the paper
for the box and instructions and also the different paper size for the instructions.
I kept data on this for years and compared hundreds of sets. A significant portion
of the sets, boxes, and instructions on BrickLink would need to have two separate
weights in order to be accurate for everyone.

You can always set your own weight for items listed in your shop.

Hope that helps!

I believe that if this were the case, there would be many, many more nearly similar
parts in our catalog.

Sellers have to be able to identify which part they have in hand with no more
then the text and image for reference. There needs to be some detail that isn't
subjective.

to your search or any category you are browsing.

Hello,

Here are my initial thoughts on this subject. There are several reasons that
I like the current system of using set numbers on minifigs.

1) I think a minifig that only appears in one set should have a set number. I
would be willing to go as high as 3 set numbers in the Name before I feel it
would be annoying. It is useful for searches and anything useful should not be
easily discarded.

2) When a new minifig is added to the catalog and before the set it appears in
is inventoried and approved, the only way you can find it is with its name or
the set number in the title. It would not yet have the link for 'Item Appears
In.' This is the most important reason to keep the number.

3) Brickset links to our minifigs in searches, but only if the set number is
in the Name description:

https://brickset.com/search?query=40108&scope=All
https://brickset.com/minifigs/twn215/balloon-vendor-(40108)

Nice to know the only listing to buy this minifig is on BrickLink! That's
good (free) advertising.

I do also think that adding some more descriptors would be nice on some figs.

I'm not suggesting this is currently a problem, but it does pose issues when
one comes to implementing features such as Jen suggests.

You keep coming back to and picking apart this idea? Please consider:

1) This idea has been asked for from the original BrickLink session in Seattle
more years ago then I would like to count up.

2) It would be a convenience to many users (and especially newbies) to be able
to further constrain their search results. "I am tying to find something, but
there are too many stickered parts in the way" has been stated numerous times
in the Forum over the years.

3) I do not believe that it would be complicated, difficult to implement, or
require touching the database. Each checkbox would simply add the necessary text
string '-pattern' '-sticker' to the search parameters. I have
spoken to people more knowledgeable than me who have assured me this is a real
thing.

4) It could appear within the search bar at the top of any catalog search results
page. One checkbox to Hide Decorated parts. One checkbox to Hide Stickers. The
new page designs are already likely wide enough to accommodate this. Try it searching
for 'tile 1x6' and then 'tile 1x6 -sticker' to get a feel for
how it might function when someone is looking for a part. Then, try 'legs
hips' and 'legs hips -pattern'

5) There would be less pressure on the admins to split some categories if these
options were easily available to everyone. Splits are still needed and necessary,
but I will restate that this would simply alleviate some of the pressure to do
so.

I admit that I do not really understand where you are coming from with these
last few posts discussing my little afterthought suggestion. It is not feeling
like a discussion much from my end so I am going to say thanks now for adding
your comments and that this is the last I have to say on the matter. I look forward
to this discussion heading back toward catalog issues and not coding for the
site which BL is not currently considering.

Take care!

A precision: As Jennifer said, the years for the sets are the years the sets

Ah ok, that explains it. Still I doubt that the search for base plates is very
straightforward or accessible. Why so complicated?

It is simply the data that we have. We know when sets are released, not when
LEGO stops making/selling/distributing them.
And I understand that the catalog system does seem complicated at first, but
it is really a fantastic resource once you get used to it. People here are always
happy to try and answer any questions you have about it!

I find it hard to see through. E.g., the 48x48 plates are listed as part 4186,
but it says: Years Released: 1980 - 2016. If I'm looking for sets, for example,
the 10701 appears, which has been sold since 2015 and still is according to Lego
online store.

So the listing 4186 is incorrect in saying that there is no current 48x48 baseplate.

The Years Released data for parts and sets only refers to the year they were
FIRST released, not all the years they were produced and available in stores.

The old Death Star 10188 only has 2008 as its Year, even though it was produced
for many years after that.

Is that what you are asking?
