Here's a thread on Eurobricks about this train. There's mention of some
sets being packed with the wrong color bars, so maybe that was this piece.

Unfortunately, it was too long ago for me to remember.

So Bricklink doesn't list them? Only Peeron does? I just realized that after
I typed my last message.

No, they are not these:[p=bb219]

tracks together for shipping. They pin 4 or 6 tracks in a stack.

I like the idea of adding and inventorying these boxes (especially the ones w/o
a peek hole), though I wish it could have been done years ago. Still, as they
say, better late than never.

Wow, people will throw an instant tirade about any new idea we try out. It is
no wonder that the corporate BrickLink employees and developers don't want
to try anything new, either. Everything that is tried receives just whinging
and moaning from the user base. I think I now have a good idea about what drove
Jaclyn away from the site.

In any case, we have heard all of the feedback and will be reversing course on
the inventories. We had planned to make an announcement in a few days concerning
this to ask for feedback on what had been done, but we wanted stuff in place
for users to look at. So this thread was not a complete loss to us, but you did
jump the gun on us, Jonas.

Please bear with us as we work out the kinks.

Cheers,
Randy

Already possible:

In Suggestions, Mboe writes:
  Hi BL
Unless this already exits in some form (if it do, please inlighten me as to how
it works!), I suggest a button for “show items on wanted lists” when visiting
stores. Quite often when I’m visting stores, browsing around for additional items,
I stumble upon items marked as “on want list”. It would be a lot easier if it
was possible to just see all items in store that are already on my wanted lists,
instead of having to search through 100’s of pages in different categories...
I am aware of the whole ‘buy wanted items’ auto function, so it’s not that I’m
missing... It’s more when already committed to a store, I wanna stock up and
save on postage.

Thanks for an otherwise excellent site!

Best regards
Martin, Denmark

Sadly, "coming soon" has a different meaning to BL:

In Suggestions, popsicle writes:
Wayne's post and others like it, https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1150409
brings to mind an idea that briefly visited my headspace some time ago:

A type of reverse want list. That is, a way that sellers could peruse the current
want lists to specific buyer's needs, to then as a seller, proactively engage
members like Wayne with offers on items they have on their want list.

Kinda like amping-up the want list and selling process, by getting the sellers
more involved in increasing their sales by actually selling

It's just a rough draft of an idea. Limitations, restriction and other refinements
of the idea, expected.

But hey, BL shot-callers, it speaks directly to upping the sales numbers!

Unless there was some change to this model via a supplement instruction sheet,
some of the parts in the inventory don't even belong there:

Panel 1x2x3
Slope inv. 75 2x1x3

I also don't see the black tile 1x4 in the build

You might want to try explaining exactly what the 'differences' are.
Your list is not descriptive enough. If you are confident of your corrections,
you should file a change request for the inventory here:

Good luck,

A small asterisk (*) below a thumbnail image indicates that there is a large
image (like the one you see on this page) available when you click on the small
thumbnail.

An exclamation mark (!) below a thumbnail image indicates that there is 3D data
available.

In Inventories, Naughty_UK writes:
This may be a dumb question but I've looked in the help and can't find
anything. There's also nothing in the hover-over tooltips or any other clues

When you view a set inventory, each part listed usually has a ! or a * (or both)
underneath the part image thumbnail. Can anyone tell me what they mean? ta.

I'm not sure that it's only the sun light in itself that causes discoloration.
In my old store inventory, I've found a small number of parts that were
fully discolored, yet they were not exposed to direct sun light.

On the other hand, I had the little Filmore VW bus (from Cars) in which certain
colors on one side became discolored.

In Colors, legoman_74 writes:
  Hello,
So I am well aware of the "sun burnt" effect on white, blues, yellows, the old
light grays and among other colors, however I am sorting through quite a bit
of used Lego with the old light grays and I pulled quite a bit of them out believing
they were discolored by the sun. Upon closer inspection, they appear to be quite
uniform in their color, including underneath, just definitely a different shade
than the others and not quite like the "sun burnt" ones. Does anyone else out
there recall issues with Lego having off color batches on old light grays in
the past like they have trouble with now on the new light bluish grays and yellows?
Thanks in advance for everyone's time.
Sincerely,
Ken

Why is this significant?

I print the order for pulling, so a buyer isn't getting anything extra (more
wasteful).

In Suggestions, cosmicray writes:
As this has been a controversial topic recently, perhaps we should make it a
buyer select-able option.

Allow the buyer to choose to receive paperwork with the order, or to have the
order shipped without paperwork. The seller would then be obliged to follow the
buyer's selection.

Not even close. Having an order with a record of the transaction would be easier
and more ideal.

Regardless, it doesn't really matter, as I fought for this feature at least
twice in the past and had little in the way of support. I doubt it will ever
be possible.

The forum is a tough crowd to win over. Add that to the 'new' administration
and you'll see why so many have lost faith that BL will ever reach its potential.

That seems plenty close enough to pulling like an order to me. Do you have a
tablet?

I just noticed that these sets require a Target credit card to purchase.

From this point on I will make an extra effort to ensure that I purchase in a
manner that limits the direct benefit to TLC. All these exclusives seem to do
is create a rift in their loyal fan base. They end up solely in the 2nd hand
market at inflated prices.

be an option to opt into, whereby a store must enable the feature to show up

case they are uncomfortable with the feature.

Unfortunately, counterparts don't display on the part-out page. Until that

the four parts in the inventories and the complete assembly as a counterpart
for all sets in the above list?

Based on many other catalog examples I would say that Mercy should have wings
in the assembly. I'm not sure if Pharah should just have the armor or

all of this is up to an admin in the end.

Not to mention the angel should have her wings, right?

More bad news. I just checked Lego's website for instructions and it appears
that Genji (dual-sword holder?) and Hanzo (quiver) are missing these neckgear
in their pictures here.

Also, Genji appears to have a piece that connects to his helmet.

I don't have this set yet to confirm the contents. I'm going to run
to Walmart to see if they still have some.

In Catalog, StormChaser writes:
  In Catalog, tEoS writes:
The picture for this fig is wrong.

I'm confused. The figure doesn't have a picture.

Only kidding. I removed the images just now. How and why did these images get
approved?

Well, the catalog (me) is trying to be more responsive than it has in the past.
That means more and better communication with members, quicker item approvals,
and no more long queues of pending items. One of the casualties of pumping out
catalog entries is that some get in which are wrong.

I have to put some trust in members that items are submitted properly, especially
for new figures for which the assembly instructions are not always immediately
available. Sometimes that trust is repaid and sometimes it ain't. I have
a decent memory and submissions from the member who submitted these entries will
be checked carefully in the future.

It's a messier method in some ways, but I believe the benefits to members
outweigh making sure a catalog entry is absolutely perfect in every way before
approval. That's what change requests are for. This is not to say that
I don't check and occasionally reject things, of course. I'm just not
going to hold catalog entries forever, especially not desirable new items which
can easily be corrected. The inventory administrators, as Randy said, also sometimes
catch errors during the inventory process.

Having said all that, it was my fault that I approved these images/figures when
they were incorrect and I apologize for the error. I believe the instructions
were already available when I approved those figures with those images and I
neglected to download and check the set instructions regarding the correct assembly.
As you've noticed, the images are gone now.

This one is up to the admins. The 1st assembly shown in instructions is the
standard w/ legs. I think this version is a good addition to the catalog, but
it may not fit the catalog policies.

There's kinda only one CA for now, and it's me. If the figure does not
match the assembly first shown in the set instructions, then it's off to
deleteland for that figure, which is where this figure has travelled.

Thank you for bringing these issues to my attention.

It should be safe to assume that there is an error with the catalog entry for
that fig and there's likely a correct version of the fig in the catalog.

Otherwise, provide some examples.

But not on all of them they say why.

I realize that since you've been appointed many things are being accomplished/changed.
However, part of me is uncomfortable that Maggie or Ronald aren't at the
head of these discussions/changes, as if they are being side-stepped in this
process.

They have been performing these duties for a long-time and I think it would go
a long way to create credibility in these decisions, if they were the voice of
the catalog reorganization process.

Unfortunately, I've been rather busy in the last two weeks since I was appointed.
Until I get around to addressing this issue, part assemblies are kind of up
in the air.

Maybe Gear items need special approval to receive an inventory? Contact the
help desk.

In Inventories, _djm writes:
I'm trying to add the inventory for

Gear No: 9705 Name: Education Control Lab Software (DOS/WIN)
*
9705 (Inv) Education Control Lab Software (DOS/WIN)
Gear: Software: Educational & Dacta: Technic: Control Lab
I'm trying to do this via
the page https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvAdd.asp?viewType=G.

When I attempt to reserve it, I get an error message "This item has already been
reserved by member".

However, when I look at the "Items Reserved to be Inventoried" page (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?invRes=Y),
it is not list as being reserved.

Given it does not appear to be reserved, can anyone suggest what might be the
issue?

Regards,

David

No, I'm simply stating that the "rocket science" argument is flawed. It
implies that you don't need the intellect of a very scientific person, as
if said person has the capacity to know how to do everything very well.

In Suggestions, Teup writes:
So, you are saying it is difficult. We're talking about sellers here, people
who decide that they can handle selling Lego. Not every person who signs up on
Bricklink has to understand how to set up shipping methods. But I think it is
only fair that for the small portion of those members who really are serious
enough to get into selling, it should be expected of them that they're able
to handle it. If they're not, they should either ask for help or just use
some other way to sell Lego that they do understand (In fact, I think setting
things up at Brickowl is easier than at BL.)

I grow tired of reading the old "it's not rocket science" argument, as if
it somehow substantiates a person's claim.

And I think on the seller's side of the interface, it should also warn that
not all weight/volume/value/country combinations are covered. I think it's
the sellers responsibility to make sure that they have it all covered, it's
not rocket science. But it is true it takes some concentration and staring at
the screen to make sure everything is OK, so an algorythm that checks if there
are no holes sounds like exactly the type of thing we have computers for.

Instant checkout isn't so simple. You can think you have all bases covered,
but later discover something that prevents a buyer from ordering.

In addition, we have no way to test our setup or see a buyer's cart to troubleshoot
an issue.

I use instant checkout, though I would never recommend, as I'm certain to
have lost orders because of it not functioning quite right.

A size restriction sounds ridiculous, I never saw that... How can a buyer possibly
anticipate this? There's no way of knowing how big your order is going to
be, nor is it the job of the buyer to be a mathematician even if it was. I think
sellers should have shipping methods ready for all sizes.

But sounds like the lot average problem could actually be fixed by Bricklink
itself. If they flag stores who use it properly, it will solve this frustration
instantly for every store that uses it. And is this lot average indicated in
the listings, in the same way that minimum order is? I really think it should
be.

The left one looks like it might be old (solid) med. blue and the right newer
(semi-translucent) med. blue.

I've often wondered if/how light plays a role in how we perceive the color
these (precolored abs pellets vs. dyed (by Lego?) pellets)

In Colors, Brick_Buyers writes:
Hi, I recently purchased The Tower Bridge and have noticed that the medium blue
4x8 plates are actually 2 different colour. I have shown pictures below that
outline this. The instructions say there are 18 4587271 plates, actually there
are two slightly darker plates. The lighter 16 say 4-35 on the bottom but the
darker 2 say 2-35. Can someone explain this? It is the same with some of the
other medium blue colours in the set as well.

Power Man is the name on the set box that includes this minifig. So BL's
name is correct from that point of view.

In Suggestions, fuatecelik writes:
Minifig sh104 is incorrectly labelled as Power Man (Victor Alvarez). I don't
know where this confusion comes from, but this figure appears in the Ultimate
Spider-Man line that is based on the cartoon series of the same name. This is
what Power Man (Luke Cage) looks like in that cartoon. Victor Alvarez is a different
character that has only appeared in the comics and who has a similar appearance
to Luke in the cartoon. But officially and canonically, this is Luke Cage.

This distinction is important because Luke Cage is a very well known and popular
Marvel character that has appeared in several media including two seasons of
Netflix television, while Victor Alvarez is relatively obscure character that
has not been adapted into other media.

Admins are not real humans, so they have nothing better to do than work on BL
24/7. Duh!

Being a volunteer inventory admin has to be the worst. Not only are you expected
to give your time for free, but also spend $1000's per year on new sets at
MSRP to do inventories.

Oh, and to the OP: 3% fees is the exact same I paid when I started selling here
in 2003. Please find me another company that you can say the same about. Ebay
was 10% the last time I sold something.

Not sure, 21h13 (9:13pm) in Poland now (in France too), but he might still have
something else to do on a Saturday night

Mystake

I can see about doing these later this week.

Of course they are different. Did you read the descriptions? That would give
you a clue to the difference.

In Catalog, zux writes:
Just found out someone has added two parts that need to be distinguished as they
are slightly different but pictures doesn't provide any visual clue. Basically
pictures are useless since there is no difference whatsoever.

Parts in questions:

Part No: 44301a Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on End with Bottom Groove
*
44301a Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on End with Bottom Groove
Parts: Hinge

Part No: 44301b Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on End without Bottom Groove
*
44301b Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger on End without Bottom Groove
Parts: Hinge

These are slightly better, but difference is barely visible:
[P=44302a]
[P=44302b]

Why there's no picture with both items placed side by side helping in distinguishing
the difference?

How did this slip into catalog?

Is there any chance that paired items such as wedges (left and right) would receive
their own entry in the catalog, much like the pair of minifig arms entry?

Example:

Part No: 981982 Name: Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair
*
981982 (Inv) Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

Super-lots are a pain to work with and BL buyers don't seem to read listing
notes that items must be purchased with matching side (maybe due to generating
carts from wanted lists).

The picture for this minifig seems fake or maybe a digitally altered photo from
Lego.

Minifig No: njo412 Name: Misako (Koko) (Lady Iron Dragon) - The LEGO Ninjago Movie
*
njo412 (Inv) Misako (Koko) (Lady Iron Dragon) - The LEGO Ninjago Movie
Minifigures: The LEGO NINJAGO Movie

I find it a bit misleading since the head on the actual fig is garbage and certainly
not like the BL minifig photo. My head is such a thin yellow that the black
shows through in most spots.

I already advised you on your previous post that this isn't a set, it is
a combiner model. There are plenty of other combiner models that have not made
their way into the catalog.

Marked for deletion only means that you can no longer sell under that catalog
entry. Unless a policy changes, this flag will likely take a long time (a decade?)
before inventory runs out and it is able to be deleted.

In Catalog, NelisSolis writes:
  Russell,

will there be (or maybe there is already) some warning for sellers before an
undetermined variant is deleted? If I remember correctly, previously I received
a notification about items marked for deletion, but for the flags I didn't
receive such kind of notification.

FYI: the set hasn't been released in North America yet, so that eliminates
a good portion of members that do inventories.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have quicker access to the ignore and report
options instead of having to search for them.

Like a button on each message.

Well, I guess with suggestions there's always the "what if everyone uses
it" scenario to consider, which in this case would mean nobody would help new
members with their questions. I don't think they want that to happen..

The gray question mark icon is a rollover feature.

100 days or 5 fb

Interetsing, I was not aware of that. What criteria define a "new buyer"? Is
it feedback, sign-up date or a combination of both?
