Is there any resource that describes the slight color variations of new LEGO
parts.

For instance, I know that there are two distinct shades of Dark Red and two distinct
shades of Reddish Brown.

I swear that there are two different yellows (official LEGO color: Bright Yellow)
but this is a very subtle difference, if it exists at all.

I don't expect sellers to sort the parts by these slight variations. As a
buyer, however, I would like to be able to confirm that yes, these parts I just
ordered are all Pearl Gold, despite the fact that I can see two different hues
when I dump the bag of parts on my sorting table.

Ryan Howerter's color guide on Flickr is quite helpful, but it seems to me
that the Bricklink catalog could include a brief comment when there are more
than one acceptable variations of the same color. And by "acceptable," I mean
that these are color variations produced by LEGO under the same color name.

A resounding YES vote from me. As a relatively new Seller, that insurance bit
gave me hours of heartburn until I just ended up changing my store terms to FOB
destination and implementing my shipping/handling/insurance rates just like you
described in your suggestion. Now I sleep at night, and my Buyers are happy.

Which brings up a side thought: should FOB terms be standardized across Stores,
and does that relate directly to your Suggestion (implement simultaneously, etc)?

And what if I don't want my order shipped to a Forward Operating Base?

Or maybe I'm just Fresh Off the Boat.

Where do I press the LIKE button for this post?

I am not sure about this. It could easily turn into a popularity contest. I know
there are some who would vote for or against a post simply because they like
or dislike the poster, many times without even reading what was posted. For those
people, the content does not matter. So if this system is intended to determine
the importance of content and rank posts accordingly, the results will be skewered
by those who vote based on WHO the poster is and not WHAT is posted.

I've been a seller here a very long time. I have a fair number of people
on my stop list. Maybe some of them don't belong there. Does anyone know
of a tool for "grooming", that is, reviewing and deciding which ones could be
removed? What I am doing now is viewing their feedback one at a time and making
the decision... kinda laborious.

Lar, I don't know what kind of tool one could use to do this, but I manually
review and update my Stoplist and Most/Least Favorite Store lists at least once
each year. Among other things, I will remove members who have been deregistered
or inactive for 3 or more years, sellers who no longer stoplist me, and people
I have patched things up with. In fact, one year around Christmas I posted a
challenge in the forum for other sellers to do the same to see if we could collectively
remove 1000 names from our stoplists. It got a lot of replies and almost 1500
members were un-stoplisted. Maybe we should do the same again this year.

Bah humbug!

Whoops, I clipped my message before posting it. Meant to end with:

Now, go ahead and point out how the Admin's contact info is at the top of the main page and I am an idiot.

I ran into a glitch on the site and got this notice:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the
Bricklink Administrator with your user name, the page you were on and what you
were doing at the time. Screenshots are also helpful in debugging problems on
the site."

Figuring out how to contact the Bricklink Administrator took me more than a few
minutes. I'm not a newbie, but I guess I've never had to email the admin
before. Perhaps I am missing something blindingly obvious, but I will risk embarrassing
myself to admit that I was not able to find the admin's contact information.
I suppose I could have tried emailing admin@bricklink.com, but I shouldn't
need to guess at the administrator's email address.

If the Admin wants people to contact him or her with information about glitches,
perhaps the Admin's email address should appear as part of the error message.

The home page gives the Admin's twitter handle. That's no help to someone
who is not on twitter.

I ended up going to the Help center. A new user might think that information
about giving feedback to the administrator might be under "Feedback," but that
would be wrong. "General" and "New User Tutorial" are similarly incorrect. "About
Bricklink" doesn't help, either.

It shouldn't take this much effort for a user to try to report a bug in the
system.

Now, go ahead and point out how the

  Hello,

I'd like to suggest a new forum features - SUPER COMPACT

In SUPER COMPACT it would only show the title of first message in the thread
so I could easily scan all the different topics without going pages back.

Click the "without replies" link.

Marc.

Thank you for pointing this out. I've been on BL for 8 years. This past year,
I figured out a couple of "wanted list" tricks. Who knows how many other features
I have yet to discover.

I wonder if bricklink could sell its own brand stuff like mugs, shirts etc?

Is it a good idea?

I'd be interested, but I think that Bricklink needs a better logo.

The current logo is fine for the website, but it's not going to work on a T-shirt
or a mug.

I like this idea, but I would like to see a redesigned Bricklink logo. The current
one is okay for a website, but it's a weak graphic image. And don't get me started
about the cursive font.

Brickmania, for instance, has a great logo.

Peter

No links to pages selling Lego, please

Sorry about that. Link intended to show an example of a quality logo.

  Would it help
to add the color name right under the image? That would probably need its own
suggestion however.

Foster

How about a color square? That would add a visual clue about the color, in addition
to the color in the description.
