Hi,

I have stickersheet 71459/4106745 but it has 2 entries in the catalog.

Part No: 2129stk01 Name: Sticker Sheet for Set 2129 - (71459/4106745)
*
2129stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 2129 - (71459/4106745)
Parts: Sticker Sheet
and

Part No: 8205stk01 Name: Sticker Sheet for Set 8205 - (71459/4106745)
*
8205stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 8205 - (71459/4106745)
Parts: Sticker Sheet

Can someone explain to me why the same stickersheet needs a separate entry for
each set?
Or can these be merged into 1 entry?

Mine is from a bulk lot, so I can't verify which set it came from.

  Hi,

I bought this one incomplete:

Set No: 164 Name: Passenger Wagon
*
164-1 (Inv) Passenger Wagon
152 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1978
Sets: Train: 4.5V

I found 4 black pcs of each of these in that set:

Part No: 3358  Name: Fence Gate 1 x 3 x 2 Lattice
*
3358 Fence Gate 1 x 3 x 2 Lattice
Parts: Fence {Black}

Part No: 3359  Name: Fence Gate 1 x 3 x 2 Base
*
3359 Fence Gate 1 x 3 x 2 Base
Parts: Fence {Black}
These aren't in the BL inventory and they're also not in the inventory
on Rebrickable, Peeron, ..
BUT! If you look at the box, they are used in one of the alternate models.
That model isn't on the instructions though.
http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/164-1?showpic=6308

Inventory on BL and Peeron both show "instructions" as source of the inventory
list.
Could it be that they originally were included with the set, even though they
weren't actually used in the instructions?

If yes, can these be added as extras in the inventory, or should that only be
done if someone opens a sealed set?

For sets in this time period, if you see parts used on a box model, they were
most likely included in each set. Look at the underside of the parts to make
sure they are period correct, and if so, I would add them.

They look correct to me.

IMO, if they are LEGO, then they should have a spot in the catalog.
And having them for sale is also a way of getting them to kids that can't
get them from LEGO itself.

Maybe a crazy/stupid(?) idea, but what about setting them to a fixed (cheap)
price on BL?
Sellers that want to help getting them spread all over the world can put them
up for sale, while buyers that need them (or want to donate them) don't have
to pay ridiculous prices.
"Scummy market" sellers aren't encouraged anymore for selling them here,
since they can't make any (big) profit.

So, people buy them here on Bricklink for a handful of pennies and sell them
on eBay for a handful of dollars. Sounds like a great business model to me!

Yeah, I know.. Like I said, stupid idea.
Should've just gone to bed instead of posting this..

So, it appears the LEGO Braille bricks are (finally) soon to be released ( https://www.newelementary.com/2020/08/free-lego-braille-bricks-released-by.html
).
They’ll only be made available for free to blind children through the LEGO Foundation.
They won’t be buyable.

Will there be a policy to forbid their sale on BL?  (to prevent encouraging collecting
/ second market, IOW, stealing from children¹)

And if so, will the bricks still be in the catalogue or not?
(Will it be possible to enforce a ban if they are?)

——
¹ Nah, I’m strictly objective, no way I’m sneaking my opinion here

While I have no Horse in this race. I personally DO not only NOT want to see
these on Bricklink but anyone SELLING them should get an Arrow to the Knee. The
Purpose of these are for Blind Children, Not so there is a Scummy market of third
party sellers making a profit and I know we have a few here that would do it.

If BL had some better management to address LEGO in the Buying side verse History
Archive I'd say it would be here for History reference without an option
to buy.

End of Line......

  Sure the estimated cost is easier to read, but it is meaningless when a seller
can charge what they like. They might have stated extra costs, in a simplistic
or complex way, in their terms so you have to read them. Showing an estimated
cost that ignores the terms is highly misleading.

I really agree with you on the problem, but I'm not 100% behind you on your
suggested solution.

Probably the best solution, for buyers, would be that every store has instant
checkout or request a quote. (Just like the other site)
But that's not going to work for all sellers, so not a realistic solution.

Showing an estimated cost is, imho, a second best solution.
You don't need to do an almost impossible calculation on x-amount of different
fees that could be applied to your order. Assuming the seller even sticks to
the shipping method you chose.

Giving the buyer the option to cancel (without penalty or receiving neg feedback)
when the difference is too big is imho a better solution.
When you start your order, you can ask yourself: Am I willing to pay an extra
10% H&S on this order or not?
If it's more than 10% added, just cancel the order.

Reading the terms is always a good idea, but how many buyers do that?
And how complicated are some terms written?

Making an order non-binding kills the NPB process. Buyer doesn't have to
pay if it's not binding, but the items are blocked for the seller. So he
can't sell them to someone else.

I could just order my wanted list in 30 different stores and wait for the cheapest
invoice.

Perhaps another option could be a setting for buyers: do I want to see estimated
costs or not when placing an order?

  BL should stop showing estimated shipping and handling charges, as this gives
a false impression of what they are. For example, I almost placed an order at
this store. But reading through the terms, there are extra handling fees, extra
paypal fees and different shipping costs to those estimated and shown here.

Showing an estimated value gives a false impression, and may lead to a (supposedly
legally binding) order being placed only to find out the actual costs are significantly
higher than those estimated.

Of course, this could be completely removed by making the orders non-binding
until the seller has disclosed all costs and the buyer has a chance to agree
to them. But in the meantime, stop misleading buyers with incorrect estimated
values.

I think the estimated cost is easier than reading the terms and doing a lot of
calculations.

But I agree that it could be misleading and a risk of too many hidden fees added.
Making it non-binding is pretty much the same as a quote request, with the exception
that the items are locked.

Perhaps it's a better idea to keep the estimated cost, but force the seller
to give the buyer the option to cancel if the final cost deviates by more than,
lets say 10% ?

The only difference is the average price sold, new is about double the price
of old.

If they're exactly the same, just one is from old sets and the other from
more recent collectible minifig sets, do they really need separate entries?

If you could create the new catalog entry for a reissued torso of minifigure
post001new, we could fix the inventory.

Cheers,
Randy

So if I understand correctly, for most of these reissued minifigs, the only difference
is the inside of the torso and the stud difference of the head (open/hollow instead
of solid)?

Shouldn't it be best to put up a note about this on the "old" minifig entries?

You guys (and girls/women) have been dealing with every change all these years,
so you know all the differences.
Try looking at it from someone new on the website or new with building Lego.
(Or in my case, someone that has been away from Lego for the last 25 years)
Looking at the assembled minifig, there's absolutely no way of seeing the
difference.
And if you didn't know about the variations of the inside of the torso, you
wouldn't even know the difference if you disassemble the minifig.

And what about trn252?
It looks like a reissue of but020, shouldn't it be named but020new then?
If you want to keep those reissues consistent.

Ok, that makes sense.

But still, if the inventory is exactly the same, does it need a separate entry?
Imho, there should be at least a note saying what the difference is. And wouldn't
that note be sufficient?

For this one, there's only a note to explain the difference, no separate
entry.

The only difference is the average price sold, new is about double the price
of old.

If they're exactly the same, just one is from old sets and the other from
more recent collectible minifig sets, do they really need separate entries?
In a lot of used Lego I found torso

how do I know which minifig
it was?

Hi,

I was parting out a used set of

Set No: 70130 Name: Sparratus' Spider Stalker
*
70130-1 (Inv) Sparratus' Spider Stalker
282 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: LEGENDS OF CHIMA
and there are some counterparts missing
from the BL catalog.
Since I have them, I thought it might be a good idea to add them to the catalog.

But I'm kind of stuck on how to give them a proper name.
I have absolutely no idea what those stickers are supposed to represent.

Can someone give me a hint?

  Hi,

I've just had an order for 6 x 4073 Trans-Dark Pink's

Part No: 4073  Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Dark Pink}
When I picked them, 4 of them are visibly lighter than the other 2.
Does that mean 4 of them are actually Trans Pink, or is this just some variation
in the color?
According to the catalog, Trans Pink doesn't appear in any set, but there
are some sellers that have it listed.

I traced those 4 back to where I got them from, and it seems they came out of
(sealed) set 10717.

Set No: 10717 Name: Bricks Bricks Bricks
*
10717-1 (Inv) Bricks Bricks Bricks
1500 Parts, 2018
Sets: Classic

How (or what) should I explain this to the buyer?

Photo: Left plate, right brick and 2 middle 4073's are Trans-Dark Pink, the
4 others are lighter. I have nothing else in Trans Pink to compare this with.

They are the same color, and it happens.

See https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1190735

I don't believe there are any modern LEGO colors that do not vary in color
from batch to batch. Color consistency really is a *huge* problem of theirs,
and they really need to focus on it.

Cheers,
Randy

Ok, thank you.
