Comments from Submitter:
I never saw part 3024 as an extra.

As for 48729 that I want deleted here, it should be an alternate extra. Is it possible?

This set is not available for purchase anymore, it is unlikely that these changes
will be made. Also there is always an extra 3024 in sets for each color.

As this is still a community build and moderated site, all efforts by members
to improve the site, listings, behaviour of members etc, should result in a discount
on fees to be paid.

Bricklink should have a program that rewards members who:
- catalog contributions
- image improvements
- price guide corrections
- listings corrections
- adding help files/video's/translations
- .....

At this day, only BAD behaviour is santioned (NSS, NPB's, site and forum
bans etc....). Let us not emphasize the negative behaviour but reward the positive
behaviour.

I do contribue to the catalog, though not much anymore because I do not agree
with the way the system works and I no longer wish to contribute (unless I have
to or need something in the catalog). I think this idea will not work. If someone
wants to contribute then go for it. Adding a reward will just slow the whole
process down I believe. What if someone reserved say 5 sets to inventory. Then
took their time doing them. Someone else could take one, but then the first person
would lose their reward so they may not want to give any up. Another example,
I recently submitted some items to the catalog, no one else had, the set I took
the items from had been out for awhile, I looked to make sure nothing had been
submitted yet. Then I submitted the item and submitted small and large images
I took from brickset. I see the items approved in a few days, but they only approved
my item and then approved pictures from someone else even though we had both
got them from the same place. Now I was already a bit upset about that. If someone
takes the time to submit items then their pictures should be approved if available.
If there was a reward system, I would have complained to someone to get my reward.

Now a similar example. Many people submit items to the catalog even though they
don't have a set on hand. They can not take any pictures. So items sit and
no one knows what the hold up is. I myself over the last year or two have had
people tell me they saw an item on a another website or saw the instructions
on lego.com and submitted stuff to the catalog not having them in hand. This
causes MANY sellers on Bricklink to be stuck waiting for stuff to be approved
cause someone did only half the work. Now imagine if a reward was thrown in.
This type of situation could get worse.

I think a reward is just not going to work and will cause more problems then
not. Instead things need to be done like updating and clarifying instructions
and how to's on submitting to the catalog. Enforcing simple rules like a
person can only reserve a set for 3 days and then a pending inventory must be
up or the set is unreserved. As suggested before Bricklnik should make a webpage
that lists all the alternates Lego currently makes so that catalog submitters,
stores and buyers have a go to reference for these items. A submitter should
be required to have a set or item on hand and each submitter of an item should
be required to also submit the images. It should all be done on one page instead
of in two sections on 3 different pages. I can think of many more as I am sure
those who know me, know the catalog issues always seem to get me going lol.

Let's fix the system first. I am sure there are plenty of people out their
like me who would contribute. As a reward instead of something monetary, how
about making more honored stores slots. Right now it is 3 and 3 for images and
lots, but 1 person can hold a spot on both sides. I suggest this be changed.
Maybe make it 3 and 3 without the duplication so 6 stores are always honored.

Concerning the rest of the list. I am already worried about fees going up. We
keep hearing about teams of people working on the site, well teams of people
cost money. I am sure Alice, and Sean are not volunteering 100% of their time.
These things cost money. Also doesn't the moc shop have a higher fee? If
that is the basis for the next Bricklink then maybe they have already decided
to raise fees and don't want to scare anyone away yet until we see the new
site. What is 1% off of your fees or a fancy giftcard if Bricklink raises fees
2-3% to pay for it all?

It would make the collecting job more effective when there would be a possibility

Thanks,
Markus

It looks like this already exists in the settings section?

You submitted your requests incorrectly. Another member submitted them correctly,
so his change requests were approved meaning yours were no longer needed (even
if done correctly) and were subsequently rejected.

Ok... sorry, you did not mention that in your post. There a lot of other things

Well I don't think there is a site at this time that offers what you are
looking for. You may just have to go though the instructions yourself and write
out what parts you need for a particular building. I have done this before for
some of the buildable items I make and sell. Only I do it for the opposite reason,
so I can pull these items from sets. So I get a paper out that says 3009 dark
red 1 and then make a line for each part and then each time a part is used again
I add the qty so it looks like
3009 dark red 1+2+13+4 then total them up and make my list on brickstore or a
wanted list. Of course you back to doing it lot by lot again, but at least many
of the instruction manuals are available from the Lego website for free.

Also, once you have selected what pieces you want from that set to add them all
at once to a want list instead of one at a time.

To do this, can't you just go to a set's main page in the catalog and
then click on the part out under the wanted list area? Then just delete the lots
you don't want and fix your qtys, maybe a bit faster?

I agree its not about the " credit ". We need these inventories approved asap
so that part sellers can get these parts out there.

For me it is about the credit. I inventory sets to be an honored store and to
make the stuff available in my store as fast possible. I think if you remove
the credit feature, then people might not be as enthusiastic about doing inventories.
I would vote for dual credit. One person reserves the set, AFTER the first draft
of the inventory is submitted, then ANYONE can go into the inventory and Add
or Delete, nothing else. The notes section can be utilized here to say what is
missing or needed for the set.

I dont really know how the IA approves a set, unless they actually get a set
and confirm the submitters inventory so I can understand that it takes a while.

This can be faster if inventory submitters scan a copy of the parts list and
make it available to the cat admins

I understand that a set cannot be inventoried unless soemone has it in hand.
Once a person starts to inventory the set, or reseve it, then that set cant be
worked on by anyone else. Should that person take a while or have a problem then
that set could take weeks to appear.

This is my biggest issue with the catalog. I think Emma's suggestions will
make it easier to see what sets are waiting on, but slow submitters and people
who reserve sets and then forget about them are not fun. When I reserve a set
I give myself 2 days max to get the first draft up and submit as many of the
new pieces as I can to the catalog. For set approvals to drag on is just silly,
for example the friends bakery seems to be pending for a long time now. I believe
all the parts are approved and figures, so what the hold up? Seems the submitter
just disappeared and no one else can finish the set while under his name. If
it needs something then we need to know what so we can help get it approved.

For the cat admins, and I think Emma's suggestions would help with this as
well, I think that a first in, first done policy would be very helpful. If we
can list pending items in a pending inventory, then admins can go by date and
maybe focus their approvals on what has been sitting the longest or group stuff
together easier to get say, all of this sets items done at once instead of an
item here and then 2 days later another. (I am sure they can already look by
date and such, but this might make it easier if they can see it in the set and
all at once)

I would like to have certain... issues addressed or at least brought to attention
for the dev team working on BL 2.0

What I want to tackle is very broad and quite complex subject, so will try to
do it in parts. Would like to ask everyone for cooperation and keep it as close
to the subject as possible.

Part one - Fair Competition

Right here is where I knew I would not like your post. Then further down on your
post you start talking about what can and can not be discussed in this thread.
Fair competition does not exist. It never will. Let's all have stores the
same. Wait don't forget to price all your stuff the same. Oops, your shipping
is 1 penny higher then mine that's not fair. Everyone have the same shipping.
Fees, no fees please. oh wait, some fees are ok, like I see YOU have a packagaing
fee? What's that? Is that a fee? Oh wait no that's not a fee, I am talking
about other fees. Shipping over actual cost in store terms, well that is a fee,
no it's just stating your shipping for each store. Our handling fee is generally
considered acceptable, you must be talking about other fees.....etc and it goes
on and on.

Fees, pricing, shipping, overall speed, this is how we stay competive and different
from eachother. Bricklink is run off of fixed prices, yes we do not have auction
service here anymore. It is still up to each store to sell how they want though.
We are independent and bricklink hosts our stores taking a fee to do so. It is
up to buyers to CHOOSE where they want to shop, just like in the real world.
I don't understand why we still have to have arguments and back and forths
on this same issue. IF you see a fee on a store terms page, then DO NOT shop
there if you are so against it. My guess is the people that keep posting these
arguments want to purchase form these stores, but dont' want to pay the fees.
Then don't. You either want the item enough to pay the fees or you don't.
The store is not obligated to sell to you or try and get your business. Are they
losing sales, yes, probably, but that must be ok for them otherwise they would
just remove their fees. I do not see how this relates to the price guide or
any other issues of unfair/fair competition. If a piece sold for .10 then it
sold for .10 regardless of whether there was any fees involved.

All the while, no clear direction on Suggestions remains. There is now a backlog
of 24+ months of suggestions with practically no actions taken. Zero implemented.
Three discarded (by virtue of being cancelled, I think). This has led many
to question if suggestions will ever be implemented or if it is worth anyone's
time to continue to make them.

I think you are forgetting the voting that goes on with the suggestions. Anyone
can anonymously vote yes or no. The site has 100's of people that use it, but
just a fraction of those people engage in the forum through threads or posting
messages themselves. That doesn't mean that these other lurkers if you will,
aren't voting. So perhaps they are just getting voted down. I have voted yes
on only 3 suggestions. So how about others out there? We don't know and I'm not
asking anyone to say.

missed some of it also.

This button would help for people who decide they would like to keep the set
they parted or for people who type in the wrong numbers like me.

When you search your inventory I believe you can select to see all parts in my
inventory from set number XXXX in X condition. Should try that next time

I like the idea, but I am wondering if the Bricklink servers can handle it? We
have already seen time outs with wanted list notifications and I myself can't
put my whole store on sale with one try, I get an error message each time, so
I have to do about 15 categories at a time and then there isn't a problem. So
if 50 stores all start sales at 4 A.M on black friday and the Bricklink dudes
have to switch out all the prices I am just worried about an overload and maybe
some stores sales not starting, or others running late etc.

Anyways, just an observation. I don't use sales to often, but I like the idea.
