I had this set when it was brand new, and I'm pretty certain that the Expert
Builder version sold in the United States was called the "Auto Chassis"
and not "Car Chassis". It's also identified as such in the 1982 Dealer Catalog
for the USA: https://images.brickset.com/library/Catalogues/c82usdc.pdf

Does anyone else of a certain *ahem* age remember what it was sold as back then?

Is there a reason BL settled on calling it the "Car Chassis" (which I think is
the name it was sold under in the UK)?

It was definitely the "Car Chassis" here in the UK; my best friend had it and
I fell in love with Technic Lego there and then. It was an awesome set (BITD).

When you searching in top search box and you get suggestions about what you may
searching for. If i click her. Earlier it popped into the search field and let
you search on that.

Now Nothing happened when you click. It return to the same text you was typing.
Not the thing you want to search in the suggestion list.
You have to type out what you want. Or do i do something wrong now.

Nope, it's not you. That's exactly what it does for me too, when using
the latest FireFox browser. When a suggestion comes up it doesn't matter
if I click on the text or the image, nothing happens. I have to press enter after
completing the text before I can then access the list of parts/sets.

I've also had the Search box bring up a completely different item when it
appended stuff to what I was typing! It's borked.

Trying to understand. I'm sometimes not too good at it, though

I currently can do just that "remove parts" or increase/decrease amounts, with
two clicks from any page

I’m guessing it’s because you’re viewing one cart (in the store).  Iprice is
using “View all carts” and wants the ability to decrease quantities (or “qauntities”?
) in this “all carts” view.

I understood the question as being in the [Shop] at the [Wanted List] tab, having
just added parts from the wanted list into the shopping cart. At that point you
see the message 'Lot successfully added to shopping cart.' and the amount
in your cart, but you can't remove the items from your cart.

Adding a negative amount would be a nice trick if that were allowed.
Having a link to that lot in your cart would be helpful.
Having a button to delete the lot from your cart would be a solution.
Having an edit control to change the lot at that point would be ideal, if not
cluttering the interface.

Yes. This.

It was the middle of the night when I posted (hence the major typo in the title
), so perhaps I wasn't awake enough to make it more obvious.

Any of those suggestions would be good additions. Negative numbers were countered
by my "flooring" comment - make it impossinle to have a negative value in the
cart itself (if entered value is less than zero, then cart value=zero).

I would love the ability to remove parts from my "Added To Cart" quantity, without
going into the Checkout screen.

I can increase Quantities however I wish from each seller's "All Items/Newest
Items/Wanted Items" pages, but once I've added them to my cart, I cannot
decrease this value unless I access the Checkout screen. Its odd that I can add
to it, but not subtract on the same screen. It's very easy to add a wrong
part or find the same items cheaper/newer way down the list (especially if the
seller hasn't concotonated their inventory). Flooring the accumulated Cart
value to zero would prevent negative numbers.

Even if I could just "zero" a quantity in my cart it would help speed things
up a bit. Although speed really doesn;t seem to matter much to BL, does it?

Your avatar reminds me of the ant from the old Amiga/ST game Pushover.

He's based on the character out of the Boulderdash games, Rockford - one
of my fave games growing up. I did a remake many, many years ago called RockRush
for pc and some handheld devices.

I remember mentioning this several years ago but I've noticed recently that
a lot of new members are posting questions and not replying when others have
offered answers.

Every other forum I've used has the option to receive email notification
when a post is added to the thread. I imagine that new members may expect this
and that's why they don't reply and it may come across as ignorant.

I read a recent post by a new user who hadn't realised there were replies
to her original message. I expect it may put off some people from using the site
as we all need some help when we start here.

I'm aware that some people are pointing out various issues with the site
as it is, so perhaps this could be implemented whenever the site is next updated.

Just a thought.

I agree with this, for similar reasons - posts get answered but the OP doesn't
respond.

Now is this because -

a) The OP doesn't know there's a response
b) It's quite difficult to find the OP's original post
c) They do see the reply, but don't acknowledge it
d) Give up immediately after posting a question and never return...
e) Find the answer elsewhere and don't bother mentioning it.

We'll never know... however, we can at least reduce that list by letting
the OP know that there are replies to their post

When TLG bought Bricklink my first thought was that finally now we will have
set parts inventory coming directly from them and this will stop delays related
to approvals and all such things. But I don't think this is happening. And
I don't really understand why. TLG has all this data because they created
sets and they know exactly what parts set consists of. Why don't they just
give this information to Bricklink inventory admins on the day of set release
(or even before that)? Is it obvious path to improve Bricklink?

It's not as simple as that. We have a sealed set standard on BrickLink, which
means that we base the inventory off what actually is in the set rather than
what is supposed to be in the set. This helps with accuracy with variants and
extras.

Also, BrickLink format varies from that used by the LEGO Group. We create and
name minifigs, we have counterparts, and we also recognize multiple versions
of a set.

We actually use LEGO data as a base to create the rough draft of inventories
which puts us most times at about 95% completion. But there's a lot of work
to do beyond that to prepare inventories for our standard.

Years ago I tried to get the set numbers and the inventories for the Samsonite
sets. I got no help from Lego. The people I spoke to were unaware of the fact
that Lego was even sold by Lego. I talked to several people that were pretty
high in the food chain. Then I went to Samsonite and no one there had any idea
and they surprised to find out that Samsonite made or sold Lego. I had to send
pictures of the Samsonite sets.
There was also a problem with the early Lego sets that when the were out of a
part the put parts in that they had, sets in the 800 range where almost impossible
to inventory. If they changed parts they used up all the old one first to make
a set.
I even went as far as to call Lego in Billund and they were also surprised at
first that Lego was sold by Samsonite. I person there said that she sort of
remembered that.
I tell this so people know that Lego is as confused as the ones of us that inventory
sets.
John P

Doesn't surprise me - sometime Lego doesn't know their arse from their
elbow. The left hand really doesn't know what the right hand is doing most
of the time, from my experience of dealing with them directly.

Now that TLG has acquired BL, isn't it about time that we set about resolving
conflicting colour names? The flesh/nougat adjustment shows that it's possible,
so when are we going to rename BL Dark Green to Earth Green?

Obviously there are many others which need aligned over time, but currently Dark
Green should be an immediate priority.

No... Lego has lousy names for some of the colors. For example: New Dark Red
and Brick Yellow (tan). If anything, Lego should adopt the BL color system.

I agree. The BL system definitely makes more sense to me, for the most part.
I do however agree with the change from "flesh" to nougat.

  Hi,

So I'd like someone to have a look at this and see if I am going mad please.
Have a look at the first picture without looking at the second you will see both
parts stuck together look identical in colour. Both are brown. Now look at the
second picture the same part Plate 1x1 with the design on that side of it is
listed only as reddish brown and never as brown. Should this not be listed as
brown?

Kind regards

Barry

The 2x2 tile looks like dark red to me and the plates reddish brown when next
to it.

Do you actually have any old brown bricks/plates to put the "others"?

TBF the plates do look brown in the first two photos. But lighting and images
can make something look very different.
