Can the wording in quotes be changed. Quotes are not orders. If a question is
asked by the potential buyer asking for a quote, it gets called an order (by
the red flag). This is not correct, it is still a quote.

This is not about whether the quote system should exist, or how it works when
parts are bought by others. It is just to flag up the incorrect wording currently
used by BL that may cause confusion when an order has not been placed.

Yes.

  Well known problem
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=983078

solution
* If some item(s) get removed/sold/etc generate an automatic Item Removal Request
(IRR), stating what has happened. At the same time, give the buyer a singe click
solution to cancel the quote request all together, in case the missing item poses
an issue.

OR
* just create an action item for both buyer and seller, leave it for them to
solve it but DO NOT auto-cancel the whole thing. Make is so the invoicing is
impossible if the item(s) were not removed from the quote via IRR (I guess it
would require to create an item removal request process from a QUOTE)

OR
AUTO-CANCEL the quote, but give the buyer a single-click solution to place the
same quote request again, where the missing items are excluded.

OR
* whatever else.. just do it quick, please. Whatever it will be, please keep
in mind that new buyers often use the quote-request thing without having a slightest
clue what it's for. Whatever will happen after *items are now missing form
the quote request*, MAKE SURE that it is, first and foremost, new-user friendly.

Voted no on this as we feel the entire quote feature should be scrapped. It is
flawed throughout, not least of which are the points raised in this suggestion.

For stores that process orders first before invoicing the quote is not required.

You only have to estimate the postage. There's no need to pick and pack.
Sometimes you loose, but mostly it's accurate to estimate.

  Hello everybody,

It seems that when a quote is accepted, the buyer is automatically invoiced...
I would appreciate the option to disable this function.
Indeed, the problem is, there is no information about payment detail (how to
proceed) in this mail. But on the order received page the order is mark as invoiced....
hence each party could wait a long time before the payment is really done.

Furthermore, a default layout wouldn't do the job. I invoice my French buyer
in French, and other in English (and some English/English speaker people living
in France). So I have to choose on each case and depending of the payment method,
and the most efficient is this case is to do it manually. And actual quote function
wouldn't be able to do it. Hence the need to disable the automated invoicing.

Why don't you customize the quote accepted form?

One of the last quote received, I could offer 3 shipping rate. If they accept
they approved the quote, which rate the system will consider? And how personal
is it if for instance, my French buyer received an invoiced in 2 language with
3 different method of payment (hence at least 5 description of payment) when
they have chosen one when submitting ?

As said, the simplest IMO, would be to have the possibility to invoice once we
are OK about shipping and payment details, that sometime goes in comment/contact
and not the form.

You can still invoice the normal way after the sent quote invoice.

Own this set from new and have just used the inventory to group parts to build it from my original instructions. The parts (2of 3004 and 2of 3023) are not used on my instructions.

Should be a simple fix and I hope you change this. Could you please enable partial
search strings in to the search. If I am searching my inventory and type in
15301 it will come back with no results. The search I need to put in is 15301c01
and I get a return. Partial would help due to the item numbers under the pieces
and the obscure names of the pieces...hard to remember em all.

In all honesty I have found a work around but it's annoying to type the search
twice.

For those who want the work around.. type in 15301* and it searches all.

Adding the * to a search already was the fix for the search engine.

I just think it would make sense to just incorporate the partial string search
in to the engine.

It picks up full names which is cool..I mean..If I remembered that spring was
in the naming, then I could just search for spring..But not everything has a
reasonable name.

Thank you for listening. =)

Developers, please add iDeal as one of the payment methods for buyers in the
Netherlands.
This payment method is the most common in Netherlands and Dutch buyers/sellers
belong to the Top 10 in the world on BL.
iDeal has a very good and easy to integrate API.
There is also a growing number of PSP's (Payment Service Providers) in other
countries who have iDeal integrated in their payment options.

iDeal = instant payment method where the buyer uses his debit bank account to
pay. Payment is free for buyer, seller pays only a small flat fee, not depending
on the order amount (unlike PayPal).

What is the fee amount?
Businesses can use it, should hobby sellers be able to use it too?

Isn't Site Admin someone else than Catalog Admin?

In Suggestions, StormChaser writes:
I made this suggestion shortly after Dan died, but it was not heeded then. I'm
making it again because Admin currently has 61 catalog change requests pending
approval.

My suggestion is that whomever is using the Admin account to do catalog work
should do so using a different user account.

I consider it almost a certainty that you're a different person than the
creator of this website. It seems to me that, for numerous reasons, the work
Dan did should be kept separate from the work which others do.

If I lost control of my account for some reason, up to and including my death,
then I would not consider it right for someone else to use my account/username
to do catalog work.

Thanks for considering this suggestion.

I think it can be very usefull feature for most users.

It happens a lot that BL messages end up in spam folder.
When reading messages on BL the sender can see it's been read, so it's
also a form of communication.
You can select them all in 1 click and delete them.
The sender then will see it's deleted without reading.

Orders with outstanding issues

This is something super simple an I know any store with a staff would benefit.

The BL accepted payment method settings has two options:
1. "Within My Country I Accept Payment By"
2. "Internationally I Accept Payment By"

Please add to Onsite the option to exclude Paypal for EU as accepted method:

International: EU
International: Worldwide

That would be 'sent',wich already is a payment status.

Great suggestion 😊

and I don't want that. 'Ready' isn't correct, since I only want
to select that when I have the other pulled and invoiced.

Hello, I would like to see if a buyer has opened and read the invoice that I
have sent.

I send an invoice to a buyer, and then see them log on many times, but not pay.
How do I know they have received and read the invoice? Normally after sending
an invoice, most buyers pay within a very reasonable amount of time, but some
don't. How often do I need to message, email reminders? If I could see
that they have received and read it, then no need to send reminders.

You wouldn't know if they read email only and ignore the message warning
on BL.
Courtesy would require to send at least a reminder before you start NPB.

  Thank you

That there is a really good argument. I've sold a few boxes to newbies, asked

the misunderstanding.

I've sold many empty boxes and I always contact to be sure and offer to cancel.
99% of these (new) buyers do know and intended to buy the empty box.
I ship to where they want and they're happy with an empty box.

LOL

This has existed for years now
Check 'store password'

I am asking for facility if store is OPEN, current bypass password only applies
if store is closed, needs to be separate setting

The buyer can create a Wantlist and then browse your store.

I could save my text in a note-programm on the desktop or mobile device.

In Suggestions, fosterbengoshi writes:
I think members should have the ability to save draft posts before posting them
publicly. Sometimes a post needs more time to complete in more than just one
sitting. And sometimes members just want to get something written down so they
can think about it and come back to it later. This may be useful in providing
people a much needed time out before going public.

In business, whenever I have to send an email or letter I think is particularly
important or might cause concern to its reader or be taken the wrong way, I draft
it and then put it aside for a few hours or a day. When I come back, more often
than not I will change and improve what I wrote. Saving forum post drafts may
help do the same and might even make for better reading here.

One situation where this might be particularly useful is when sellers or buyers
get angry with each other over things like feedback, NPB or NSS claims, PayPal
reversals, etc. Writing in anger is not good, and a cooling off period might
make things way better or cause you to decide not to post at all.

No big priority. Something BL can think about doing after taking care of more
important things. Just something extra to consider.

Thor

P.S. Right now I use the BL message feature to cut and paste a draft of certain
posts and send it to myself.
