When you edit the items when entering an inventory, is there a way to save progress
so that you dont have to do it all in one sitting or risk losing all your progress?

Hello,

Today I acquired the latest "25 Years of Lego Star Wars" promotional
item and I'm having doubts on correct categorisation.

The packaging says: "Fabric Sticker", but the item looks more like a
patch, rather than a sticker. Also, it's made of fabric, not sewed, like
patches usually are, and not paper, as sticker usually are.

That being said, I have doubts how to correctly add the item to the catalog.
What do you guys think? Does it belong to "Sticker, Collectible Sticker"
category, or "Patch & Pin"? Please also suggest an Item ID, as this isn't
obvious neither in both those categories...

Attaching two photos of the actual item

Which preset am I supposed to select when submitting a change request for instructions?

I assumed it was just the Catalog one.
However when submitting it tells me; "Item No to Change does not exist in
Catalog."
I am copy/pasting them Item No from the existing entry.

I've tried changing to Book rather than Catalog as well as attempting to
change the Item No by removing both the -1 and "Instructions Entry" Text.
I did not expect these to work and indeed they did not.

Looking at the Catalog Add or Change menu, there is an option for instructions
under Add Image but not under Change Item.

I just wanted to submit weight and dimensions for an instruction manual.
Perhaps I am missing something. But the guide just leads to the same Change Item
form, which is where I started.

Hello,

probably I'm not the first person to point this out but there are a lot of
2x2 printed tiles listed in the wrong way.

I suppose the part code is 3068b, so all the printed tiles should be 3068bp*,
but many are 3068pb*

Like : https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3068pb2361&in=S

I believe that this is an error.

Can you confirm me?

Because when searching 3068bp*, as it should, many do not appear.

Set 76416 Inventory shows part 22385 in Green, but no such item in Dark Green.
This is consistent with the Lego instructions posted on Lego.com, since the
set includes one 6290600 according to the instructions.

The derived item with a sticker, 22385pb304, also in the inventory of that set,
claims it is Dark Green. I believe this needs to be updated to be Green.

Hi,

On the 19th I tried to add a stickered item to the catalog, and I added an image.
Should those appear in the forum, and if not, does it mean that my request did
not go through?

I was trying to add part 45677pb161 (I can't remember the exact number at
the end, but I looked at recent sticker numbers from that part number and chose
the next one) from D.Va & Reinhardt set 75973. It seemed like it allowed me to
submit it and to submit the image. Just double-checking Jennifer's link
explaining how to upload stickered parts was super helpful!

Thanks,

Beth

Do misprinted pieces get catalog entries? I understand misprinted pieces happen
often however if a misprint is listed under a non misprinted item then it doesn't
really reflect the item.

Hi there,

Do we have more informations about the set they came from?

As I know, recently added pi198 and pi199 minifigures didn't appears in any
official Lego sets. The specific torso is well-know to be part of some pirates
keyrings that already have been inventoried here on Bricklink few years ago :

Gear No: 850301 Name: Pirate with Striped Shirt and Blue Bandana Key Chain with 2 x 2 Square Lego Logo Tile
*
850301 Pirate with Striped Shirt and Blue Bandana Key Chain with 2 x 2 Square Lego Logo Tile
Gear: Key Chain: Pirates: Pirates I

Gear No: KC043 Name: Pirate with Striped Shirt and Red Bandana Key Chain with 2 x 2 Square Lego Logo Tile
*
KC043 Pirate with Striped Shirt and Red Bandana Key Chain with 2 x 2 Square Lego Logo Tile
Gear: Key Chain: Pirates: Pirates I

The torsos are, in my opinion, unused keyring torsos. I also own these torsos

Regards.

During parting out and adding to my inventory this set:

Set No: 11022 Name: Space Mission
*
11022-1 (Inv) Space Mission
1700 Parts, 2022
Sets: Classic

I noticed that 553b (aka Brick, Round 2 x 2 Dome Top, C = Magenta or 71) is without
either catalog entry or image. I was about to submit a Cat Change Request and
then I remembered the ongoing headaches regarding the Variant Project as detailed
in this message:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1451828

So, is the image and entry merely and temporarily 'down' due to Variant
Project implementation? Or is 553b entry actually gone-gone and a CCR needs
to be completed in order to make 553b part of 553? Note that there are currently
only two catalog entries for Brick, Round 2 x 2 Dome Top. One is

Part No: 553 Name: Brick, Round 2 x 2 Dome Top
*
553 Brick, Round 2 x 2 Dome Top
Parts: Brick, Round {Magenta}
while
553a is listed as "without Bottom Axle Holder".

FWIW, the 553 in Set 11022 has a blocked open stud.

I'm uncertain what action to take, or if I even should.

Hello all! Does anyone know how long it takes for a new item to be approved to
the catalog? For instance I added a few snickered parts for the Lego Ideas Tribute
to Galileo Galilei

Set No: 40595 Name: Tribute to Galileo Galilei
*
40595-1 (Inv) Tribute to Galileo Galilei
302 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2023
Sets: LEGO Ideas (CUUSOO)
this afternoon. How long will it take to get approved?
Thanks all!

I recently purchased a used copy of the reissued Black Seas Barracuda and this
torso was there, also the torso has a modern underside and that is in common
with all the figures that came with the re-released set.

Hello everyone,

I thought it would be good to give people an update on the variant project. As
of now, everything we announced would change in this post:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1454437

has been completed, EXCEPT the decorated minifigure heads and new Help pages.

Link for the overview:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2625

Scheduled completion date is still the end of May.

Hello all Bricklinkers!
I found this 2 x 4 brick, in pink color (I guess...) without cross supports.
In the 3001old entry, there are no pink parts. However, I can find it at the
3001special entry (special bricks, test bricks and/or prototypes). The thing
is, all the pictures in this entry have a letter on the studs (f, c, etc). My
part have a old 'lego' logo printed on the studs. Is this still a 3001special?
Or is another kind of 3001 brick that I can't find?
Thanks in advance for your help!
(An yes, the part needs a serious bath ... )

Today we received this update of items that were moved to another category:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2599

I strongly object to the movement of below parts to the Arch category.

Part No: 4190 Name: Arch 2 x 2 Inverted Corner with Recessed Stud
*
4190 Arch 2 x 2 Inverted Corner with Recessed Stud
Parts: Arch {Dark Bluish Gray}

and

Part No: 73682 Name: Arch 3 x 3 Inverted Corner with Raised Hollow Stud
*
73682 Arch 3 x 3 Inverted Corner with Raised Hollow Stud
Parts: Arch {Black}

The definition of an arch according to the Oxford dictionary is:

a curved symmetrical structure spanning an opening and typically supporting
the weight of a bridge, roof, or wall above it.

Neither of those parts fulfil that description. They do not span an opening.
They maybe help to raise an adjoining element.

This becomes more obvious if you look at the 39 parts that are now categorized
as Arch.
There are exactly two parts that don't look like any other part in this category,
the other 37 parts do.
See picture below or this link: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=6

I strongly suggest to undo the movement since it is not at all logical, not following
the definition of an arch and certainly doesn't a help a user to search for
an item like 4190 or 73682.

My suggestion is to move these items to Plate, Modified or Tile, Modified.

Please support my suggestion by replying with an upvote -- no need to cite
my post, just say +1

Souce: sealed set (European version). It was 66gr (not 55gr that was a typo).

I note that the weight of Canadian box is about 10-11gr more. Checked this with
two copies of European box and two copies of Canadian box. Though, the size of
boxes are exactly the same and they look identical, besides the extra prints
on the Canadian box.

So

The weight of empty Canadian box: 28gr
The weight of empty European box: 18gr

The weight of Canadian complete set with box and instruction (and considering
1gr extra for a mini catalog): 76gr
The weight of European sealed set: 66gr

Please add these as additional note.
If time permits, I add photos of both boxes.

*
4532 Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Container {Light Bluish Gray}
I came across multiple sets such as

Set No: 71006 Name: The Simpsons House
*
71006-1 (Inv) The Simpsons House
2504 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: The Simpsons
where they have the undetermined
as a normal entry and then have a solid/hollow version as an alternate in the
set.

for example set

Set No: 71006 Name: The Simpsons House
*
71006-1 (Inv) The Simpsons House
2504 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: The Simpsons
has

Part No: 4532  Name: Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 (Undetermined Type)
*
4532 Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Container {Orange}
as a regular part with match ID 10

then has

Part No: 4532a  Name: Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Solid Studs
*
4532a Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Solid Studs
Parts: Container {Orange}
as an alternate with match ID 10

but when watching a new build of the set it has

Part No: 4532b  Name: Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Hollow Studs
*
4532b Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Hollow Studs
Parts: Container {Orange}

then there are sets like

Set No: 3179 Name: Repair Truck
*
3179-1 (Inv) Repair Truck
114 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2010
Sets: Town: City: Traffic
where

Part No: 4532a  Name: Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Solid Studs
*
4532a Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 - Solid Studs
Parts: Container {Light Bluish Gray}
with match ID 3 in the main section and

Part No: 4532  Name: Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 (Undetermined Type)
*
4532 Container, Cupboard 2 x 3 x 2 (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Container {Light Bluish Gray}
with match ID 3 is listed as an alternate.

so I'm a little confused as to how to handle these ones. when alternates
are the main part in the inventory and the a or b is in the alternates or when
a or b is in the main inventory and the undetermined version is listed as an
alternate is this something that happened when the part was separated? I dont
really know what to do with these
Thanks!

I added something to the Toy, Early database on January 20th and it's still
sitting there. I have one of these items which I might want to sell, but I can't
because my post is still sitting there unapproved and seemingly un-looked at.
I have photos of some surviving examples, I have dates of availability on the
original set... what's the hold up?

Hello,

I think there is something wrong with how super model sets are treated in the
catalog. I use this site in many different ways and buying stuff is just one
of those ways, another way would be to look for part lists to rebrick sets and
when it comes to super sets its quite sad that you have to either look for the
parts of the main sets, which means including lots of parts you dont really need,
or just go with the instruction and ignore bricklink as a helping hand in finishing
them - which I think right now is the better way...sadly.

I recently rebricked M-Tron Secret Space Voyager
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=6862-1#T=S&O={%22rpp%22:%22100%22,%22iconly%22:0}

and now i will start Blacktron II Super Vehicle
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=6861-2#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}

I think there should be lot of other sets with the same problem. It is not very
helpful for people who want to rebrick those, it they can't access a part
list.

Greetings

HI there, I was browsing the catalog listings for the Darth Vader helmet type
2 on the BL, and I noticed that there appears to be a problem with the both listing
of the helmet and collar. 19916 and 19917 both appear to have a trans green-clear
option!? is this a listing for a test shot or something? any help would be appreciated.

Looking through a big list of books that have no items in them, but they are
in the list of items missing a inventory.

Is there a way to add these to the list of items that can't be inventoried?

I have come across a lot of these skeleton heads, but for some reason never realized
before that they are supposed to have eyebrows. I don't think I have ever
once seen 1 with printed eyebrows. Is this a common misprint?

Hi all,

I have discovered that the LEGO House Tile has 2 versions, see below.

Part No: 4162pb110 Name: Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House' Pattern (Undetermined Type)
*
4162pb110 Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House' Pattern (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Tile, Decorated {Black}
Marked for Deletion

Appeared in sets 40502, 40501, 4000010 and 21037, with PCC 6089148.

And it was updated to:

Part No: 4162pb306 Name: Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House', Thin Font with Arrowhead 'G' Pattern
*
4162pb306 Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House', Thin Font with Arrowhead 'G' Pattern
Parts: Tile, Decorated {Black}

And this newer version appears in sets 40503, 40563, 40504 and 40505, with PCC
6320270.

Once the newer tile has been approved I will update the set inventories above
accordingly, and add a relationship between the 2 tiles.

I have put in a request for the version currently in the catalogue to change
it's name and remove it's second PCC.

Any questions just let me know!

Thanks,
Josh

Good afternoon everyone,

Quite new with all the catalog requests:
I added three new rare pieces I would like to sell. It's been quite a while
now and nothing has happened.

Is there a way to ask someone kindly to proceed with the upload?
I cannot sell these beautiful cloth patches until someone uploaded the items.

Greetings.

Hello,

This is regarding my new minifigure submission (njo884x; althought I'm not
the one who added the "x" ).

The minifigure was included in "b24njo02pl". The Polish title and multiple
mentions inside the book suggest a "hunter", although the English publisher
site (https://www.ameet.eu/book/lego-ninjagoempire-warrior/) mentions the following
names:
- "Imperium Warrior" (on the cover)
- "Imperium Hunter" (in the description)
- "Dragon Hunter no 29" (multiple mentions inside the book, can also
be found among book pictures on publisher's site)

Parts wise:
- torso, legs, head and helmet are the same as in njo815 ("Imperium Claw
General" )
- the only difference between this minifigure and njo815 is the lack of "Black
Minifigure Armor Shoulder Pads Spiked with Stud on Back"
- a "Imperium Claw Hunter" (njo817) is already known, but has different
set of torso, legs and helmet

Please advise how to correctly add this minifigure.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best,

Is it possible to add a decimal for the reference weights for pieces (or at least
optional for very small pieces like the 1x1 round tiles (id 98138).

In the catalogue there is a 0.11g but I assume it is something just rounded up
to 0.11g (not sure the correct number.

Background id that I thought that checking a delivery (or simply counting stock
of a higher number) is much more efficient by checking the weight. Then I checked
my last order which just arrived of supposed 3100 pieces but the overall weight
was 320g. So either the weight is more like 0.10322g (then als 0.11g would be
rounded wrong) or I received significantly less items.

So I guess I will need to manually count quiet some to have a good sample estimation
myself

Or does anyone know out there how much 1000 or 10'000 of these should weight?

Dear catalog admins,

part 30388pb015 seems to have extra line breaks at the end of the part name,
which appear in the tab delimited download and break the formatting.

My guess may be wrong but the Parts.txt export file currently looks like the
attached image.

I tried using the Change Item form but the name of the part is too long and won't
fit in the name field.

If you could have a look at this, it would be appreciated.

Regards,
Antonios

Hi everyone,

One of the side effects of the variant merge project is that some of our more
advanced users began asking for Alternate Item IDs to be included in the catalog
download feature.

So we have added this field to the download - see attached images. Downloads
(as before) are available in either CSV or XML format.

By way of reminder, for the variant project we are adding all original item numbers
as alternates to make sure people are able to easily find parts where the number
has changed.

Goodevening everyone,

Is it possible to get Lego parts in other colours than I could find by Lego?
For example I see at the Rebricable website much more colours of part 2780 than
I could find on the Lego website. Is it possible to get this parts in RAL6024?

Best regards,

Hi there, I have a piece labeled "Hips with Leather Belt (Red Studs) Pattern"
Item No: 970p4f
Because Bricklink is deleting printed hips and individual legs I cannot find
out the legs that attach to these hips. Brickognize does not pick up the piece
either. I currently have plain black legs attached to them. If anyone knows the
correct part number for the hips and legs that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Today I found out that these two cards and also some another from 2012 are missing
in catalog, I tried to add them into catalog, however there are already some
requested submissions from December, any idea how long it may take for them to
be added to catalog so I will be able to add them to my inventory ? I was looking
at catalog and there are also these cards with different numbers, referenced
as North American Version, however mine are International Version, so it would
be wrong to upload them as NA version and just write there it's International
Version.

Hello! Under the reference catalog statistics, there is an option to see the
top sold items for the past 6 months. What I am most interested in is top parts
sold, but the problem is it only shows the top 100 parts (same for other categories).
Is there a way to see more than just top 100? The information is most definitely
tracked but it doesn’t look visible to normal users.

The page link is https://www.bricklink.com/catalogStatsSold.asp?orderNew=N&itemType=P

Thank you for any information!

Hi,
I appear to have a tile: 3068pb0029 - Tile 2 x 2 with Space Police II Logo Pattern,
with the red and green colours upside down. I can't see it as a variant in
any of the sets it appears in. I've looked through all the instructions and
it always appears with the red at the top and green on the bottom. Does anyone
know if this is just a misprint? or is this a different part?
Thanks

Hi, I am new to Bricklink and am still learning how it works. I have many old
sets from my son, all from the late 90's and am trying to put them all together.
I have the instruction books for about 98% but am finding the books differ from
the set inventories on this site. For instance the Flame Chaser Helicopter #6531.
I have been using this reference to find all the pieces needed but now am concerned
that the instructions I have differ from the inventory I have been collecting.
Not really sure what my question is,, but am concerned the pieces don't
add up to the instruction books I have. I came online as some of the pieces were
difficult to see very well and was unsure of the colors needed. Why would these
differ from the instructions?
Hope this makes sense

set 6373 instructions show flags with wave right, maybe the box does too. I was
wondering what people found in the set when they openend it as new: wave right
or left. Inventory in general, parts lists, say that the flags for this set are
wave left. So is the photo on the first page of the instructions wrong or are
the parts lists wrong?

I noticed that newly merged part 44302 has no description summarising the variants
- I'm not sure if this is a common oversight on all the merged pieces as
I've only checked this one.

I'm used to seeing variant messages for parts that have "soft" variants
- why do these merges not have them? I'd argue they are clearly significant
variants worth noting if they used to be listed separately.

Hello,
[p=553b]

I see that the old 553b Blocked Stud has been merged with the much newer 3626
Vented Stud.

Was I wrong in expecting that it was also to be merged with 553c Hollow Stud?
Wasn't the point to not have to differentiate between the different stud
types?

Thanks,

What was the point of merging 44302 and 54657? The other hinge bricks/plates?

All of the element numbers are gone and now it’s going to be harder to find the
specific variant.

This catalog project was a rushed and stupid idea.

Merging parts did not move element numbers over because the merging process doesn’t
come with that built into it. Was that something that site admin considered before
this bright idea? Nope. Why bother ensuring a smooth transition when you can
carry on without a plan in mind? After all, that seems to be par for site administration.

Listening to community complaints? A waste of time.
Improving site functionality? A bigger waste of time.
Considering that a project of this scale would undermine years of progress and
effort from your catalog administrators and community members? An even bigger
waste of time.

Then, catalog administrators and community members have to clean the mess up.

I was trying to post some collectible minifig series checklists and noticed that
it not in the catalog under each series. Rather it is listed in each separate
figure like col06-1, col07-2 as an instructions entry link. Kind of hard to buy
this way when searching. Maybe put the checklist in the series themselves at
the bottom as a separate entry?

Hi

I've just finished sorting a joblot of old(ish) LEGO from a recent bulk purchase
(contains space police and other sets from the early 90s).

I noticed that all the 2x2 bricks in trans blue, green and red have no inner
supports but these colours are not listed as known colours for this variant.
I've had plenty of those with the supports but don't remember coming
across this variant before.
I'm assuming these are fairly common but what sets do they come from?

Regards

HI Bricklink Team

Please can you either do the catalogue changes or not - I am listing a load of
printed tiles and some have the b and some don't. this is infuriating and
is meaning it is taking me longer to list than before.

I thought the changes were there to simplify matters. so far its the opposite
in every way plus we have a worse catalogue.

Also - and I fully admit I haven't been at my best the last few weeks due
to illness, but I thought we were getting an email with the parts in our inventory
it was affecting. Did I miss this ?

to the catalogue - 45301pb056L and R. Unfortunately I have only one of them,
so no picture for the second. Would it be allowed to mirror the (L) pic I have
and use it for the R version?
Cheers,
Patrick

I have a wrong side torso King of the Dead from the LOTR Pirate Ship Ambush.
The arms are facing the wrong direction and I found a forum about it on Euro
Bricks but I haven't found any other information regarding how to price it
on Brick Link. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm trying to add a relationship for
[B=9780241011638uk]
[B=9781465436665us]

but I don't see a category for book variations.

Which category should I put the relationship under?

there should be an option to include a subtheme as part of more than one theme.
for instance Studios: Jurassic Park III/Jurassic World: Jurassic Park III or
4 Juniors: Spider-Man/Super Heroes: Spider-Man

I sold a ninjago headgear to a customer, and he claims it is not lego as it didnt
have a lego logo. The headgear was used, so there might be a chance that a non
lego part has been mixed in.

Does anyone know if there exist copies of 98133PB04 ? Should the original have
a lego logo? And in case it doesnt have a lego logo, how can we distinguish a
fake vs a real?

So, this is sort of a wider-spread issue that would be adressed across several
sets, so I wanted to make one bigger post to adress this as I'm not sure
whether this should be handled through a note or through inventory changes, and
I want to ensure consistency.

I've noticed that several sets with SQUARE rubber bands, the set typically
includes twice the amount of rubber bands necessary to build the set, and these
are typically also included in the piece count listed on the box. However, on
Bricklink, these parts are handled inconsistently.

I've only looked at BIONICLE sets, for the time being.

The following contain 2 rubber bands in their piece count shown on the box, but
only uses one:
8545 Whenua already handles this through a note.

Set No: 8540  Name: Vakama
*
8540-1 (Inv) Vakama
27 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 8541  Name: Matau
*
8541-1 (Inv) Matau
26 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 8542  Name: Onewa
*
8542-1 (Inv) Onewa
30 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 8543  Name: Nokama
*
8543-1 (Inv) Nokama
28 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 8544  Name: Nuju
*
8544-1 (Inv) Nuju
30 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 8545  Name: Whenua
*
8545-1 (Inv) Whenua
28 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

These are duplicates of the above sets but don't show a piece count:

Set No: 1417  Name: Vakama {Kabaya Version}
*
1417-1 (Inv) Vakama {Kabaya Version}
27 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 1417 Name: Vakama polybag
*
1417-2 (Inv) Vakama polybag
27 Parts, 2003
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 1418  Name: Matau
*
1418-1 (Inv) Matau
26 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 1419  Name: Nokama
*
1419-1 (Inv) Nokama
28 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Set No: 1420  Name: Nuju
*
1420-1 (Inv) Nuju
30 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Turaga

Nui-Rama contains 8 rubber bands, but only 4 are used in the main model, and
2 in the alternate model. Box pcs is 138 - It erroneously excludes all 8 rubber
bands.

Strangely, on Bricks & Pieces, the pcs count is 294. In a LEGO Shop At Home catalogue
I've found, it is 246.

Set No: 8537  Name: Nui-Rama
*
8537-1 (Inv) Nui-Rama
142 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Rahi

Muaka & Kane-ra contains 12 XS and 16 S rubber bands, but only 6 XS, respectively
8 S, are used in the main model, and 1 XS and 4 S in the alternate model. Box
pcs is 647.

Set No: 8538  Name: Muaka & Kane-Ra
*
8538-1 (Inv) Muaka & Kane-Ra
633 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Rahi

Manas contains 8 rubber bands, but only 4 are used in the main model, and 6 in
the alternate model. Box pcs is 442.

The same LEGO Shop At Home catalogue mentioned for the Nui-Rama, however, shows
the count of 428 - not sure what's up there.

Set No: 8539  Name: Manas
*
8539-1 (Inv) Manas
442 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Rahi

Nui-Jaga contains 8 rubber bands, but only 4 are used in the main model, and
4 in the alternate model. Box pcs is 218. Like Whenua, this one is already
noted.

Set No: 8548  Name: Nui-Jaga
*
8548-1 (Inv) Nui-Jaga
218 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Rahi

Tarakava contains 8 rubber bands, but only 4 are used in the main model, and
2 in the alternate model. Box pcs is 401.

Set No: 8549  Name: Tarakava
*
8549-1 (Inv) Tarakava
401 Parts, 2001
Sets: BIONICLE: Rahi

As a tangential addendum of notes to add:
Exo-Toa box pcs is 360, erroneously excluding the rubber bands.

Set No: 8557  Name: Exo-Toa
*
8557-1 (Inv) Exo-Toa
367 Parts, 2002
Sets: BIONICLE: Titans

Lewa Nuva box pcs is 36 - as already noted, all of the 38 pieces in the set are
used in the instructions one way or another, and Bricks & Pieces says 38 as well.

Set No: 8567 Name: Lewa Nuva
*
8567-1 (Inv) Lewa Nuva
38 Parts, 2002
Sets: BIONICLE: Toa Nuva

There's the Tile, Modified category, which includes parts like

Part No: 15712 Name: Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip
*
15712 Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip
Parts: Tile, Modified

Part No: 35463 Name: Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Tooth / Ear Vertical, Triangular
*
35463 Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Tooth / Ear Vertical, Triangular
Parts: Tile, Modified

Part No: 15209 Name: Tile, Modified 1 x 2 with 2 Teeth Vertical
*
15209 Tile, Modified 1 x 2 with 2 Teeth Vertical
Parts: Tile, Modified

All of which are obviously indeed "modified", because they are tiles
with something extra. So why aren't these round tiles (among others) considered
modified as well?

Part No: 20482 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Bar and Pin Holder
*
20482 Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Bar and Pin Holder
Parts: Tile, Round

Part No: 77813 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Loop
*
77813 Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Loop
Parts: Tile, Round

Part No: 74698 Name: Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Lifting Ring Thick and Bottom Stud Holder
*
74698 Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Lifting Ring Thick and Bottom Stud Holder
Parts: Tile, Round

The same applies to plates; with the current logic, these are just a few that
should be Plate, Round, Modified. It's ... interesting to note that these
parts are instead spread across two categories as of now (Plate, Round & Tile,
Round).

Part No: 3661 Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1 Open Stud with Bar Arm Down
*
3661 Plate, Round 1 x 1 Open Stud with Bar Arm Down
Parts: Plate, Round

Part No: 26047 Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Bar Handle
*
26047 Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Bar Handle
Parts: Plate, Round

Part No: 18674 Name: Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Open Stud
*
18674 Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Open Stud
Parts: Tile, Round

Part No: 32627 Name: Tile, Round 4 x 4 with 2 Hollow Studs
*
32627 Tile, Round 4 x 4 with 2 Hollow Studs
Parts: Tile, Round
But that's all about categories that don't exist yet. On a more immediate
note, I also wonder what the catalog's logic is for categorizing jumpers.
To me, they look primarily a tile, so I would think to look under Tile, Modified.
Especially with parts like

Part No: 6177 Name: Tile, Round 8 x 8 with 4 Studs in Center
*
6177 Tile, Round 8 x 8 with 4 Studs in Center
Parts: Tile, Round
Bear with me here, I'm using that extreme example to make a point: It seems
like it meets the requirements to be classified as a jumper (flat piece with
studs only in the middle, and antistuds on the bottom). And when you look at
that part, or an officially recognized 1x2 jumper, do you see "a tile with
studs", or "a plate with studs not there and/or moved to the middle
of the part"? The latter is nonsense, frankly. Never mind the fact that jumpers
now have a groove, a feature which is reserved for what? Tiles.

And look at parts like

Part No: 33909 Name: Tile, Modified 2 x 2 with Studs on Edge
*
33909 Tile, Modified 2 x 2 with Studs on Edge
Parts: Tile, Modified
that are already under Tile, Modified, and rightly so. Now look at a jumper.
Is that jumper closer to the above part, or the below part from Plate, Modified?
I'm sorry, but the answer is obvious. Jumpers are modified tiles.

Part No: 60478 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Handle on End
*
60478 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Handle on End
Parts: Plate, Modified

Similarly, more catalog browsing leads us to this part, which is under Plate,
Modified, despite being an undeniable relative of 33909 (and therefore should
most certainly be considered a modified tile)

Part No: 41740 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 4 with 2 Studs with Groove
*
41740 Plate, Modified 1 x 4 with 2 Studs with Groove
Parts: Plate, Modified

Anyway, to sum it up, I think the categorization logic needs better consistency.
Modified round tiles/plates should get their own category, and jumpers should
go under Tile, Modified instead of Plate, Modified (and if they're round,
put them under the newly created Tile, Round, Modified). I'm curious about
the current reasoning for the way this all is right now. I'm sure I'm
not the first to think of these things, and while I feel strongly about these
changes and that my logic is sound, I'm obligated to assume I'm missing
something and that it's the way it currently is for a reason.

Hello
Collecting parts for 6468-1. Part 6014u is listed. Trying to decide between
6014a and 6014b. Colour of interest is white. Set year is 1999
Observations from catalog:
6014a: all colours 1991-2003, 163 sets -- year 1999, 24 sets -- 16 White,
2 Light Grey, 6 Yellow.
6014b: all colours 1999-2024, 563 sets -- year 1999, 1 set White

Further Part 6014a is a subpart in to Parts:
6014ac01(6014a 6015) and
30187c01 Tricycle with Dark Gray Chassis & White Wheels

Using part 30187c01, a search of the catalog identifies problems with inventories
of the following sets:
1) 6459-1 1999 lists parts Yellow 30178c01 Tricycle but incorrectly lists the
white wheel as 6014u
Recommend changing it to 6014a.
2) 6636-1 2002 lists parts White 30178c01 Tricycle but incorrectly lists the
white wheel as 6014b
Recommend changing it to 6014a.
3) 7034-1 2003 lists parts White 30178c01 Tricycle but incorrectly lists the
white wheel as 6014b
Recommend changing it to 6014a.
4) 4556-1 1999 lists parts Yellow 30178c01 Tricycle but incorrectly lists the
white wheel as 6014b
Recommend changing it to 6014a.

Of most interest to me in regard to set 6468-1 is the likely error in set 4556-1
as it is the only set in the year 1999 where part 6014b appears. I would argue
that if that set is changed to 6014a, then there would be no sets before 2000
where 6014b appears. That would suggest strongly that set 6468-1 should also
be changed to 6014a.

Hope this is helpful to the BL community
Regards

Hello,

I want a background task, that is able to refresh my local database with current
catalog items on demand. I'm talking about https://www.bricklink.com/catalogDownload.asp?utm_content=subnav
- sadly a valid login is required, to access the catalog data. Before the site
got hacked, it was relative easy to login with my shop data and download the
catalog items and update my local database. But the security has changed and
the way how the login works did change. Is there any official documentation on
this?

I’ve added a few items to the catalog, but I can’t seem to track down specific
info on how to add a torso assembly. What are the beginning numbers to choose…I’m
seeing lots of options, but I don’t know how to pick the right one. Also do
I have to disassemble my torso and add its parts as well? I definitely don’t
want to take it apart, but I guess I could try to photoshop the arms off….maybe????

Good evening,

I've discovered a functional difference between parts 30103 and 90394.
The hole in part 30103 is deeper inside, as you can see with the bar inside.
Does this need to be indicated and parts separated ?
Thank you,

Nicolas

I have an entire pile of these that won't come apart. I noticed that in the
catalog there is a note: Early versions are believed to have been glued or
melted together at the factory
.

I'm wondering if they are glued and if so, where would they have come from?

Why is the round Friends alien in set 42605 not considered a Minifig, while their
slimmer sibling from the City sets (cty1727) is? The instructions do not have
this figure as part of a larger assembly, so there is no reason for this
egregious double-standard!

Set No: 42605 Name: Mars Space Base and Rocket
*
42605-1 (Inv) Mars Space Base and Rocket

Minifigures: Town: City: Space Exploration

Please remove parts 3262pb05 (Lime, 1x) and 15469 (Lime, 1x) from the main inventory
of set 42605, and add the alien Minifig entry that I created. I will have a pic
of the Minifig up later.

hi,
what I do not understand is why head 3626bpb0054 [blocked open stud]is in the
search page
and variant 3626apb07 is not..while in the example picture the top one is clearly
the one with solid stud .

many other heads apear sepparate in the search page ..solid/open/blocked open
and this one does not..only in the blocked open page [when opened] as variant.
what could be the reason?

Hello,

I have a Maxi Zoo set (numbered 2669) that was around in Brazil in the 90s. It
is different from the 2669 referenced on Bricklink: it came with a "Duplo
Figure, Male, Black Legs, Green Top with Vest, Gray Hair, Glasses" instead
of a "Duplo Figure, Child Type 1 Boy, Yellow Legs, Blue Top with Red Suspenders,
Red Hair, Freckles, White in Eyes", and the trees were two brown "Duplo,
Plant Tree Trunk Segment Base" (picture below).
Could this version be added to the catalog as 2669-2?

Best regards,
Eduardo

I was working on the archive for a few parts when I was working on 30151 when
I remembered an old thread

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1408010

and that these parts are being merged

For reference the old version 30151a (blocked open stud) along with (presumably)
some versions of 30151b are able to hold a connection with

Part No: 27148pb01 Name: Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Black Bow Tie Pattern
*
27148pb01 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Black Bow Tie Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Red}
and

Part No: 27148pb02 Name: Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Medium Azure Round Crystal and Pressure Gauge on Silver Background Pattern
*
27148pb02 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Medium Azure Round Crystal and Pressure Gauge on Silver Background Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Medium Blue}
Meanwhile multiple of 30151b (hollow stud)
have no connection and falls right off making it not usable for the figure.

Should this be looked into more before they are merged? it is a functional difference
used in official lego sets.

Ive confirmed this 100% with parts on hand and would include pictures but I dont
exactly know how to include pictures of a part falling off.

Hello again everyone,

This is my official response to the video from R.R. Slugger concerning the merging
of part variants in the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGRxNX8Cg_o&t=1s

Here is an initial response to the video, specifically regarding the set inventory
for the Core Magnetizer:

Set No: 6989 Name: Mega Core Magnetizer / Multi Core Magnetizer
*
6989-1 (Inv) Mega Core Magnetizer / Multi Core Magnetizer
473 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1990
Sets: Space: M:Tron
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1450164

Here is today's response:

*************************************

I’ll start with a couple points I actually agree with Slugger on:

1) BrickLink certainly is an invaluable tool, and one of the things that has
motivated me to invest in the catalog over the years, long before I became a
community admin or started working in the BrickLink office, was knowing that
whatever corrections or additions I would make would instantly circle the globe
and potentially benefit thousands of fans everywhere.

2) Regarding the suggestion to double down on accuracy – that is actually what
we’re doing, if you look at the big picture. I remember discussing with one of
the authors of the LEGO Collector books that came out a few years ago:

Book No: 810003 Name: Collector's Guide - 50 Years of Play 1st Edition
*
810003 Collector's Guide - 50 Years of Play 1st Edition
Books: Informational Book

Book No: 9783935976640 Name: Collector's Guide 2nd Edition
*
9783935976640 Collector's Guide 2nd Edition
Books: Informational Book

and one of the points we discussed was why certain things weren’t included in
a publication that was so comprehensive. The answer was that if a particular
data field didn’t have at least 80% of the data, then there were questions raised
as to how useful that field would be.

Of course this case does not cover all of the changes being made to the BrickLink
catalog, but it does pertain to some of them. The smooth slopes and frosted bricks,
even after 20 years of accepting data from the community, have a very weak connection
to our inventory system. Many of the parts are not represented even a single
time, and of those that are represented, there are serious questions as to the
accuracy of the inventory change requests.

The biggest obstacle in separating variants on BrickLink, especially the older
ones, is lack of real data. So the question comes up, should we have entries
on BrickLink that can’t or never will be represented sufficiently in the inventory
system?

Being orphaned or partially orphaned from the system is a bad thing, and our
stance on that is one of the things that has really changed since Dan built the
inventory system in the early 2000s. It used to be acceptable to have entries
floating around just for buying and selling, but over time we have realized the
power of our inventory system, to the extent that we now use artificial inventories
to represent certain parts (like BAM parts):

Set No: bam2023 Name: Build-a-Minifigure (BAM) 2023 Parts
*
bam2023-1 (Inv) Build-a-Minifigure (BAM) 2023 Parts
39 Parts, 2023
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGO Brand Store: Build-A-Minifigure
Marked for Deletion

By removing some of these variants, the accuracy and inclusiveness of the inventory
system goes up, and that is the primary driving force behind these current changes.
Why not just fill out the data instead of consolidating entries? Because we simply
do not have the data, and if we did, we couldn’t handle it all anyway. There
is no way we can add thousands of new minifigure inventories to the system simply
to accommodate different types of studs.

Next I’d like to give an actual example or something that WILL be lost in
the transition.

Slugger is right – just because the example he gave may not have been the perfect
example, it doesn’t negate the point that something will be lost. So here goes:

Set 7171 from 1999 (Mos Espa Podrace):

Set No: 7171 Name: Mos Espa Podrace
*
7171-1 (Inv) Mos Espa Podrace
831 Parts, 10 Minifigures, 1999
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 1

is one of the celebrated early Star Wars sets and as such we may consider it
to be at the pinnacle of collector interest. In that set is a yellow dome with
a “blocked open stud” which is part no. 30151a:

[p=30151a,3]

The next version of that part by all accounts was introduced around 2010,
[p=30151b]

and by that time, the Mos Espa Podrace had long been retired. So we can say with
reasonable certainty that this set came originally with domes with blocked open
studs. If you see a copy of the set sitting on someone’s shelf and the domes
on Anakin’s podracer have hollow studs (no little Mercedes symbol), that is a
sure sign that the parts, and maybe even the whole set, is not original.

So if the BrickLink catalog stops distinguishing the “a” from the “b” version,
someone might build it wrong and wouldn’t even know it! However, as a quiz question
for savvy readers, why would this scenario never actually happen in the real
world? What do we know about these the 30151 variants that puts this problem
completely into the realm of the hypothetical?

Next example, set 4778-1 from 2005 (Desert Biplane):

Set No: 4778 Name: Desert Biplane
*
4778-1 (Inv) Desert Biplane
104 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2005
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Airport

This is not Star Wars buts it’s still a classic in my book. There is a different
kind of dome on the front of this plane (553), but it has the same issues as
the previously mentioned dome part.

[p=553b,5]

This set is from 2005, so it’s not likely that it ever came with the “c” variant.
The 2008 appearance is in the first UCS Death Star which had a really long production
run and has over 50 lines of variants in the BrickLink inventory:

Set No: 10188 Name: Death Star - UCS
*
10188-1 (Inv) Death Star - UCS
3696 Parts, 24 Minifigures, 2008
Sets: Star Wars: Ultimate Collector Series: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

But if this little set were produced up through 2010, there might be a real possibility
of seeing one with a “c” variant.
[p=553c,5]

So with the current merges, this is data that would be lost. People wouldn’t
know about the stud variants, and someone could get any of 3 different stud types
– blocked open, hollow, or even vented. All three exist in red.

[p=3262,5]

Next up is set 6745-1 from 2009 (Propeller Power).

Set No: 6745 Name: Propeller Power
*
6745-1 (Inv) Propeller Power
247 Parts, 2009
Sets: Creator: Model: Airport

This also has a red 533 on the nose of the plane, but here the inventory system
says it could have either the “b” or “c” variant. Check the change log to see
if you recognize any of the people who added these variants to the set:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=6745-1&viewDate=Y&viewStatus=1

We’re pretty sure this came with both “b” and “c” types. It didn’t come with
a vented stud, and someone might mistakenly put one on this model if BrickLink
doesn’t educate them about it, right? That is the premise on why we need these
variants in the catalog, correct?

The thing is, how can we tolerate the difference of stud type in this model,
and not in other models where it is historically incorrect? In this plane model
from 2009, both are correct, so what does that say about the mixing of variants
in other models?

True collectors know that there actually is no replacement part that will ever
perfectly replace a part that is lost. The only truly correct part is the part
the set originally came with. It’s nice to get as close as possible to a correct
replacement part, but it’s a futile attempt.

So I will admit that something is lost in the catalog by harmonizing all the
hollow studs types. But the second message is that whatever is lost is quite
unimportant in relation to the effort it takes for the BrickLink community to
recognize these variants.

We weighed it up, and decided that stud types are not important enough. They
have some importance, and there are some workarounds available for the people
who really want to go down that path. But overall, what we seem to be losing
is less than what we believe we are gaining.

**************************************

One more detail about the video – in navigating around the BrickLink catalog,
I noticed Slugger used the new inventory tab on the catalog page instead of the
proper inventory page accessible by the link at the top of the page.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=6989-1

There are multiple problems with this version of the inventory. First, there
is no link to the change log, which for specialists is a must. Reading the change
log lets you determine the accuracy of the data you are consuming.

Second, the match IDs do not line up with the inventory notes, so any mention,
for example, of “match ID 99” (which is critical to understanding variant inventories)
doesn’t make any sense.

Indispensable

Some of my colleagues were surprised to see such a strong reaction from our users
on this topic. But the fact is, variants are an indispensable feature of the
BrickLink catalog and they are one of the main reasons for the “sealed set” standard
we maintain for new inventories. Keeping this standard comes at a cost, and it’s
important for people to know that all of this work and energy is appreciated.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1103

BrickLink is not descending into a parts oblivion where nothing is distinguished.
I made that very clear from the very first announcement. This is simply a mid-way
correction to enable us to do better at what we already do. I trust that over
the coming months and years you will come around to believing me on that point.

Hello,

I opened a new mold for 66912

Part No: 66912pb01 Name: Minifigure, Hair Spiked with Forelock with Molded Red Headband Pattern
*
66912pb01 Minifigure, Hair Spiked with Forelock with Molded Red Headband Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Hair
in set

Set No: 80050 Name: Creative Vehicles
*
80050-1 (Inv) Creative Vehicles
381 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2024
Sets: Monkie Kid

It's molded 100936 and has slight differences in the lock of hair in the
front and the bandana ties in the back. It weighs .05g less and is about 2mm
smaller. It's very difficult to measure.

https://brickset.com/parts/design-100936

Here are some bad cell phone images comparing it with a (printed) 66912pb02 from

Set No: 80051 Name: Monkie Kid's Mini Mech
*
80051-1 (Inv) Monkie Kid's Mini Mech
551 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2024
Sets: Monkie Kid

Thanks,
Jen

I feel silly asking for this but can someone please refer me to a page or a forum
post with a full list of parts that have variants.

I have a shitty old spreadsheet where I track the market (and insurance) values
of Bionicle masks, and I've just been doing entries manually. It's due
for an update, but I've started using BrickStore for a lot of this sort of
stuff in the meantime. I know BrickStore has pricing functionality, I use it
pretty often but I'm still a novice with the program in general.

Is there an easy way to grab the entire BrickLink 'known' Bionicle Kanohi
Mask catalogue in one fell swoop, or do I still need to add masks individually
through BrickStore/wanted list/whatever? There's like ~540 items to add just
for G1, and that's gonna suck to input manually, even with auto pricing!

Cheers

Hi,

What’s the deal with

Part No: 3803 Name: Technic, Pin Connector Hub with 4 Bars and Through Pin Hole
*
3803 Technic, Pin Connector Hub with 4 Bars and Through Pin Hole
Parts: Technic, Connector

The part has been added to the catalogue but is not in any set.

— Brickset doesn’t have it anymore.
  “Anymore” because, obviously, the BL image is a render from LEGO, and Rebrickable
has a link to its (now non-existent) page on Brickset.
— Rebrickable has it as an alternate for

Part No: 48723 Name: Technic, Axle Connector Hub with 4 Bars and Pin Hole
*
48723 Technic, Axle Connector Hub with 4 Bars and Pin Hole
Parts: Technic, Connector
— LDraw has a 3D model.
— I think I remember it being shown on some site (NewElementary?) but I can’t
find it.

Cancelled? Postponed?

several final posts for now unless i find more Duplo (have to put it in
several due to the multiple images)

and then although like the prior one, it likely won't be added I just wanted
to point out that it might be the same mould that is used for the top of these
as is used for

(Images 6, 7, and 8) (sorry I couldn't get a better image, the number is
really small and the hole is very deep. I might be mistaking the 1 for a 7 so
if you could give the 3 images a second look it might help. image 8 is after
I cut the leg off halfway and in post adjusted light levels a whole bunch and
it seems to be a 1 rather then a 7)

Hello again everyone,

Below I have listed the general groups of variants we are tackling and the results
of the deliberation over the last month. I was originally planning to provide
a schedule for when these changes will happen, but based on the progress with
the tiles since February 1, I am hesitant to commit to any timeline except that
we will not change anything on this list prior to February 15.

Frosted bricks

These will be merged as planned, and a new Help Page is being written on this
topic.

Smooth slopes

These will be merged as planned, and a new Help Page is being written on this
topic.

Connections between studs

This whole class of variants will NOT be merged as part of this project. Complete
research needs to be done for the related 1 x 3 inverted slopes and the differing
angles, plus more work to understand how the 2 x 2 inverted slope relates to
these parts.

Sprue marks

The minifigure chair was the only one in this category and it will be merged
as planned.

Torsos with ribs

This whole class of variants will NOT be merged as part of this project. However,
we will rename these parts to remove the “ribs” depending on if we can get some
better photos. We will also place a moratorium on any new torsos distinguished
by underside ribs.

Inside supports

We will merge 46212 (Brick 1 x 2 x 5) as planned, but as part of this project
we will not be touching 32064c (Brick 1 x 2 with Axle Hole and Side Supports)
or 10247 (Plate Modified 2 x 2 with Pin Hole). More research needs to be done
in regards to the practical use cases of the parts and their actual use in LEGO
sets. As part of this project, however, we will also mark part 772 for deletion
(with a 3 month time frame before a merge), even though it wasn’t on the original
list. This variant likely does not even exist and it’s similar in class to the
46212.

X-shaped axle holes

These will be merged as planned.

Hinges with teeth

These will be merged as planned, and a new Help Page is being written on this
topic.

Duplo bricks with bottom tubes

These will be merged as planned.

Blocked and vented studs

These will be merged as planned, and a new Help Page is being written on this
topic.

Determined entries for very common parts

Update: We are well on our way through the decorated versions of 3 out of the
4 parts. Another 250 of these are scheduled to be changed on Tuesday (tomorrow).

but I have none of these on hand so I can't confirm but I just wanted to
include them to let you know as some have 31204 already in the alternate numbers
but not others

Please add
"51832pb01" to [P=54005pb01,254] "51832pb02" to [P=54005pb02,5]
"51832pb03" to [P=54005pb03,80] "51832pb04" to [P=54005pb04,1]
and "51832pb05" to [P=54005pb05,6] as if you use a screwdriver and remove
the 2 screws at the bottom you can remove the steering wheel which has that part
number (image below) (and no the screws dont have part numbers )

Please add "31607c01" as an alternate number to

31608c01 Duplo Merry-Go-Round Large with Red Cap, Four Seats and 4 x 4 Base

as its
the number of the base part and the current "31608" is the number of
the spinning top

Both
[P=elephc01pb01,9]
and [P=elephc01pb02,85]
did not have part numbers before so since I had 1 on hand and it was in poor
condition I cracked it open similar to what someone else did for

*
31159c01pb01 Duplo Elephant Adult with Eyes Round Pattern
Parts: DUPLO, Animal {Light Gray}
and was able to find the following part numbers
"6502" and "6503"

Possible new numbers
Old - elephc01pb01
New - 6502c01pb01 Alt - 6503c01pb01

Old - elephc01pb02
New - 6502c01pb02 Alt - 6503c01pb02

Since this includes an alternate number and pictures which cant be done via the
change form in addition to the regular number change which can I decided to include
it all together to hopefully make things as easy as possible. Included below
are 3 pictures showing the parts and the numbers

Variant Merge - How do I sort this out after being close for a couple years.
I had always hoped to reopen when my elderly parent caregiver roll had ended.
I feel like it's just not worth the bother to merge or update all these parts
with "notes" of variants. That's quite ridiculous. I don't know
what the push is, but this is certainly pushing me to the point of - is it worth
my time?

This is a very bad, generic move - the catalog was awesome, now no more.

Really. I'm not sure what to do to keep my inventory current now.
Apparently, I've missed a lot.

Hi,

I have submitted 2 Minifigure name change requests.

For Ron Weasley from Harry Potter
Figs hp113 and hp123

The torso, used in two sets, represents the Ron from Order of the Phoenix.
The Red Plaid or Tartan sweater he wore had brown sleeves. It was not a vest.

The Hogwarts express set had Black legs, Diagon Alley had Reddish Brown legs.
Just trying to make it easier to notice the difference and similarities between
the two figures.

Thanks.

Who knows how to find out the number of types of parts based on color for each
Bricklink category?
Roughly speaking, there are 100 articles in the category, each of which exists
in a certain number of colors. How can I find out the total number of unique
SKU-color combinations for a category? Thank you!

Considering the recent displeasure of the community regarding variants, why is
BrickLink adding to the variant problem with new catalog entries like these?

Part No: 44553pb04 Name: Minifigure, Hat with Small Pin, Tall Hat with Small Brim and Printed Black Top Pattern
*
44553pb04 Minifigure, Hat with Small Pin, Tall Hat with Small Brim and Printed Black Top Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory

*
44553pb03 Minifigure, Hat with Small Pin, Tall Hat with Small Brim and Molded Black Top Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory

Instead of wandering aimlessly with no plan whatsoever and still
no written guidelines for variants, it might be wiser for this website to employ
someone at a high level who is capable of crafting solid, long-term visions for
the future.

This mask genuinely keeps me up at night. It shouldn't exist, and yet...

This mask came to me from a guy here in NZ, who owned it since he was a kid.
His parents owned a toy shop in the 2000s, which might be relevant. He claims
he never painted, dyed, or otherwise modified this piece, and sold it to me as
a sundamaged white Hau. I have no clue what it is.

Theory 1: Prototype/Test Tan Hau
Counterpoint: the mask is white underneath, note the small scratches around the
mouth stud showing white plastic.

Theory 2: Sun Damage
Counterpoint: the colouration is perfect. No inconsistency whatsoever, all facets
are equally tan. Coverage is also perfect, even inside the mouth stud, all facets
of the grills, the inside of the mouth hole etc.

Theory 3: Modified white Hau
Counterpoint: sole previous owner is just as confused as I am, and genuinely
believed it was just sun damaged. He had no idea how said damage would have occurred,
he just assumed it was once white and copped some sun.

Help?

Hey,

I added inventories for several books.
b23hp02
b21hp14
b22hp15
b19hp11
b21hp04hu

They are all based off of new copies of each book.
Yes, that last one is hungarian. I obtained it on line. I ran across it completely
by accident, and the price was right. If pictures are needed, please let me
know. It's identical to the picture already there for that item.

Thank you!

Hello,
I can't locate a Technic Art Baseplate 16x16. I need one for a collaboration
that I am participating in. I think the other participants have found that piece
here on bricklink. Please let me know if you know where I can find one, the bricklink
store, etc.
Thank you!

I was looking at the advent calendars for Harry Potter, and I noticed a discrepancy.

the 2019 advent calendar lists the snowman as a minifig, whereas the 2023 one
does not.
I know that statues are listed as minifigs, so it stands to reason that snowmen
would be too.

Is there a reason the 2023 snowman is not a minifig? Or is it simply because
no one has entered it as such? Even the snowman from the Christmas Accessories
polybag is listed as a minifig. Hol170

It seems to me, that these Advent Calendar days should have a listing for the
snowman as a minifig.
76418-25 Harry Potter
76267-6 Avengers
76231-18 Guardians of the Galaxy

Also, ID conventions...
The Harry Potter "Snow Wizard" is cataloged as generic hol161.
But other licensed themes are listed as follows.
sh759 "Snowman Iron Man"
sw1134 "Snowman - Rebel Pilot Helmet"
sw0424 "Astromech Droid, R2-D2, Snowman"
sw1133 "Snowman - Imperial Pilot Helmet"
sw1120 "Snowman Gonk Droid (GNK Power Droid)"

The Harry Potter snowman should be renamed to match this ID convention.

If this is something that I can do, I will start working on it.

Thanks.

Had this first image cross my path today, a supposedly non-glittery Avohkii.
It reminded me of a damaged one I had in my sad bin, which had a chunk of its
crest missing its trademark shininess. I had to mess with a bunch of other stripping
chemicals anyway (bonus pic of my shiny new dechromed Light Grey Hau) so I figured
I'd chuck this in some chems and see what happened.

Evapo-Rust was unreactive, unsurprisingly. I only used that because I knew it
could strip galvanisation off screws and I had the ex-chrome Hau to test (also
no reaction). Simple Green concentrate was similarly unreactive, but stripped
the Hau perfectly when used with the ultrasonic cleaner. I did manage to get
a positive reaction with IPA, and was able to get the glitter layer to go tacky.
I scraped off the majority of the central crest with my thumbnail as a proof
of concept sorta thing. I can confirm that it's just a layer over top. There's
a milky white transparent mask underneath. I feel cheated.

I've currently got it sitting overnight in a bath of acetone-based nail polish
remover (hardware store was closed, supermarket was not lmao) and will strip
the glitter 'varnish' off entirely. I'd love to know exactly what
this glitter layer is made of, if anyone has any insight? It might make removing
it a little easier.

The next question here is: what colour actually is this? I was under the impression
117 Glitter Trans-Clear was plastic with embedded glitter, not just a coating.
Would this just be 40 Trans-Clear + shiny varnish?

Cheers

When LEGO tried to develop a larger brick for young children, they first experimented
with Jumbo bricks. Soon, these were replaced by the Duplo size we stil know today.

The LEGO designers tried several things, and as a result there are two very different
versions of the 2x4 Jumbo brick x1446.

Part No: x1446  Name: Jumbo Brick 2 x 4
*
x1446 Jumbo Brick 2 x 4
Parts: Jumbo Bricks

Samsonite verion
Best known is the Samsonite version.

These bricks were designed in Denmark using the metric system, but produced and
released in North America. A 1x1x1 brick unit size would be 25x25x25 mm, minus
(2 x 0,2 mm) tolerance taken from the ends to allow for building. The resulting
2x4 brick would be 50 x 100 x 25 mm minus a tolerance taken from the length and
with to allow for easy building. As a result, the actual 2x4 brick is 49,6 x
99,6 x 25 mm in size.

This is close to imperial (inch) based sizes, but it really is SI metric. The
height including the stud (and logo) is 30,3 mm. The stud diameter is 21,6 mm,
noticably larger than on the European bricks.

The Samsonite Jumbo bricks are generally known to "not work with any other
LEGO system", but in reality the size of these bricks IS exactly 5x the Modulex
system. The bricks themselves don't connect with each other though.

Samsonite Jumbo bricks were used in:

Set No: 041 Name: Pre-School Beginners Set
*
041-1 (Inv) Pre-School Beginners Set
24 Parts, 1964
Sets: Samsonite: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 042 Name: Jumbo Brick Pull Toy
*
042-1 (Inv) Jumbo Brick Pull Toy
9 Parts, 1966
Sets: Samsonite: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 044 Name: Jumbo Bricks
*
044-2 (Inv) Jumbo Bricks
30 Parts, 1969
Sets: Samsonite: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 105 Name: Pre-School Beginners Set
*
105-4 (Inv) Pre-School Beginners Set
24 Parts, 1964
Sets: Samsonite: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 300 Name: Jumbo Bricks
*
300-2 (Inv) Jumbo Bricks
30 Parts, 1972
Sets: Samsonite: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 14 Name: Jumbo Building Bricks
*
14-5 (Inv) Jumbo Building Bricks
60 Parts
Sets: Educational & Dacta: Jumbo Bricks

European version
Less known is the European version of the Jumbo bricks. This seems to be mainly
because they were made in smaller quantities and were available for a shorter
time.

The size of these bricks is exactly 3x the regular system. This seems to be a
later design idea, leading to the 2x system size of the later Duplo bricks.

A 1x1x1 brick unit size would be 24x24x28,8 mm, minus (2 x 0,2 mm) tolerance
taken from the ends to allow for building. As a result, the actual 2x4 brick
is 47,6 x 95,6 x 28,8 mm in size. The height including the stud (and logo) is
34,3 mm. The stud diameter is 17,9 mm, noticably smaller than on the Samsonite
bricks.

European Jumbo bricks were used in:

Set No: 501 Name: JUMBO Pull Toy
*
501-3 (Inv) JUMBO Pull Toy
9 Parts, 1966
Sets: Classic: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 502 Name: Pre-School Medium Set
*
502-2 (Inv) Pre-School Medium Set
8 Parts, 1968
Sets: Classic: Jumbo Bricks

Set No: 503 Name: Pre-School Large Set
*
503-2 (Inv) Pre-School Large Set
16 Parts, 1968
Sets: Classic: Jumbo Bricks

Looking at the images (especially when you find better quality images of these
sets), the difference in relative stud size is recognisable.

On the bottom of the inventory page of these sets, it is written:

The instructions do not show a trailer on the ladder truck, but actual set
contents and the official piece count (218) and an image of all three trailers
together on the box, prove that the set did come with the necessary pieces to
build the third trailer.

I found and bought an extra white-and-black sheet from a Lego fan in Canada.
This is probably added as extra page for instructions of 357 to some copies of
this set. I say some, because I had not seen this sheet. I bought myself this
set with box and all parts from a Canadian seller in very good condition but
this sheet was not there neither.
The paper I bought might be itself a copy of an original one because the bottom
of the page seems to not been copies (the bottom rectangle don't have a line
and there is no number on the footprint). I don't know how to verify whether
my sheet is original.
This extra sheet proves that the set did come with the necessary pieces to build
the third trailer.

I suggest to modify the note for these two sets:

The instructions do not show a trailer on the ladder truck, but one extra printed
page was added to some copies of this set (see the extra photo of instructions'
page) and actual set contents and the official piece count (218) and an image
of all three trailers together on the box, prove that the set did come with the
necessary pieces to build the third trailer.

The b) versions are older than the (current) a) versions.

Shouldn't thus the older versions be renumbered to 4738a/4739a and current
4738a/4739a be renumbered to 4738b/4739b?

(Same with 2739a and 2739b technic links, by the way; and I seem to remember
a few other parts suffering from this and reckon this is a known issue, if an
issue at all, but seems odd at least.)

I do not know who makes the decision on part variance they decide to put on Bricklink.
I do not like as a buyer or seller there decisions. Who cares if a part has a
line or not. However head variances are period correct variances. So are torso
ribs. Not as concerned about shapes of holes or number of teeth. However I spent
a lot listing the variances and now more to keep them separate. Plus every time
they move things to a different category because they think they know better
even if it makes no sense. It creates more work for sellers moving there inventory
around and trying to remember were it is now. Just one mans opinion

The set released on Jan 1; previously, it had an 'inventory pending'

in this set, can I ask when this set can expect to be inventoried? It is the
only Lego Sonic set that that has not been inventoried yet.

I've contacted BrickLink support multiple times via the Help Desk link, and
been ignored every single time. The current system of silver classification is
laughably bad. There are 9 official Lego silvers/chromes/gunmetals, and you only
recognise 4.5, at best.

I have repeatedly offered you the information you need to fix this issue, and
have not once received even a reply for my efforts. Instead, BrickLink is more
interested in maintaining their poorly-categorised colours, removing accurate
listings (how can I include rubber bands with a set, when said rubber bands are
23 years old and dust?), and ignoring the fella trying to literally hand you
the answer to this issue, and also ruining your database by no longer tracking
part variants. You do realise some of those 'insignificant' changes actually
matter, right?

... Right?

Hi,
Question - Will this affect draw numbers? When they combine the variants, will
my draw numbers cease to exist? I will have to find all of my variants and pull
them??? I have thousands of drawers. Nightmare! This is a terrible idea.
Thank you,

Hello,

I'm back again with more questions about set 60431:

1. I've really combed the catalog and pending items and can't find the
new alien. I can add this cute little guy to the catalog, but have no idea whether
it's a minifig or a part such as animal/land/space. I also haven't found
the head, but can submit that too.

2. The robot shown on page 9 of the second instructions is a counterpart. Should
this be added as a separate counterpart during inventorying? If so, what is it?
A part, or a space exploration minifig, such as cty1447?

Important update to the sellers' correction list:

Upcoming schedule:

Tomorrow (Feb 1) we will begin handling issue number 11 in the overview, which
includes tiles and 1 x 1 round bricks. This will not involve any merging, only
changing Item Numbers and Item Names.

A list of changes for this first step will be sent out tomorrow to our affiliates.
If you run a database and would like this list (Excel format), please contact
me through BrickLink and I will send you the list.

This first step is scheduled to be finished by Feb 14.

We have a meeting on Monday (Feb 5) with our catalog admins to go through the
rest of the list and make final decisions. After that meeting, a schedule will
be made for the merges. Due to the large number of minifigure heads in the catalog,
the merge process is likely to not be complete until the end of May.

Hello,

Just starting to work on the inventory for set 60431. I have a wedge part that
looks extremely similar to P/N 13269, but is printed with mold # 4365 (C) 2022.

Should a new catalog submission be made or should I include 13269 in the inventory?

Thanks, - Chris

Part 46212, besides being designed for transparency and so cosmetically very
different on any build, has a functional advantage over its side support counterpart
shown here in the Ninjago City instructions. Sure, placed elements are only visible
with transparent colors, but it can be used to conceal elements in solid colors
as well, or attach to tile parts as a loose connection, something the side support
version cannot do.

Please do not merge this part to 2454.

Hi,

I have a general question about part numbers. What does the "bp" in the
numbers mean?

Hello everyone, I’ve been reading up on the multiple threads about the proposed
merge of variants. Setting aside the pros and cons of the change, I have a
question that may have material impact for any stores that are using the API
function. From what I can read it appears that one step in the merge plan is
to actually merge lot numbers together in a sellers inventory. That can create
huge problems for API users, as there is no function to link an inventory lot
ID number to a different inventory number.

My recommendation would be to leave all lot IDs existing and not merge them,
but just change the part number on both lots to the new post-merge item ID number.
So, for example, if a seller had one lot of 3747a and another lot of 3747b, then,
after the merge they would simply have two lots of 3747, and be able to make
the decision to physically combine those, keep them separate with notes, or just
leave the two lots in place.

Can we please get some specific technical information on the proposed actions
within the database and as someone commented previously it may be worthwhile
to send a targeted email to all API users alerting them of the detail of the
change, as some may not be reading the forum.

Thanks. -Jason

Sorry if this is answered somewhere obviously, but for the life of me I just
can't find it... I've just submitted an inventory (Friends set 42614),
and I'm looking to edit the instructions weight, but can't find where
I can do that.

Help please?

Best,

Hi,

I noticed a few discrepancies when downloading the catalogue data for Original

* For these three sets, the box has a colon in the name:

First time posting in this thread and my apologies if this is the wrong topic
to put this.

It appears that the weight on 10328 was a typo and the piece count was put in
the weight field.

Current listed weight: 822g
Current piece count: 822

Brickset reports a weight of .7kg. My gut is the piece count and weight wouldn't
be exactly the same. Regretfully I don't have the set so can't verify
the weight -- throwing this out there for consideration.

Thank you - again my apologies if this is the wrong place to flag. Welcome guidance
on the correct spot.

Thanks for your help, I will add more items but need to be able to sell them.

Hi there, everybody. I could use some help. I'm looking for parts for the
following robot:

https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oS7AV7S5R64/WvcPV_m8iUI/AAAAAAAAI3E/e8fCrYjUBPsgDZHe2ihv8SKicvjvcFYfACEwYBhgL/s1600/2013---LEGO-Space.jpg

The red robot. I cannot identify the part that leads from his ankle up to his
hip. It's a "straight" gray piece. Can anyone identify this piece?

Much appreciated.

Hello
I'm identifying some lego parts, but I don't find in the catalog the
p/n 92411.
This part looks like the p/n 44728 but is different by a very slight particolar
(as in the attached picture).
Can the 92411 be catalogued as 44728 or it makes difference?
Thanks in advance!

For example Part 3747a and 3747b is it correct that I understand that the full
part description of this variants I put in the comments so buyers see the old
item description. With this item I have done it. After 15 February this 2 will
be listed under 3747 if I am correct and BrickLink will do the proposed corrections?

Please don't do it
As a buyer who likes to complete sets, I want the variant to match the existing
pieces I already have in the set. If the variant is listed as a separate piece
it's easy to find a seller, if its only identified in notes in a merged piece
it will be almost impossible to shift through every listed piece to find the
variant I need.
Buyers will go elsewhere. Sellers will lose out.
This is a huge step backward for bricklink.
Please don't do it

Please don't change the site! Why wouldn't we want to differentiate and

I have a couple minecraft crafting table bricks and the horizontal lines on some
of them are way darker than the others. Like one has dark brown and the other
one has reddish brown. The catalog says they have reddish brown horizontal lines
so I guess there is no distinction between them?

I was hoping maybe someone knew anything about this

Hello again everyone,

My initial post on this subject earlier this month has garnered almost 700 replies,
which is right about the level of the BrickArms threads a few years ago.

A New Thread

So I'm starting a new thread with some new information, and hopefully a few
links that will help you navigate through this complex discussion topic.

Here is the original post:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1447090

Here are three Help topics:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2625
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2626
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2629

Here is a list of my replies on this subject:

https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?overTP=Y&q=variants&qS=Y&msgID=&uName=admin_russell&ID=&status=&v=c&max=50

If you don't wish to read all 700 replies in the previous thread, you can
at least look through some of these for answers to most of the questions that
have been raised.

************************************

The Responses

We sent an email out to all active sellers a couple days ago and we expected
a flood of responses in the Forum. As much as it may seem to be an overwhelming
response, we do appreciate all the members who have posted and shared their feelings
about this project. Keep them coming.

So far I have seen two YouTube videos addressing this issue, and I'll post
in this new thread to respond directly (and completely) to what they are saying.

I will be answering directly several of the more detailed replies over the next
day or two in an effort to clear up any misunderstandings.

************************************

The Research

The following is an example of the some of the research that has been done to
help determine the course of action we are taking.

When it comes to Frosted Bricks, we took a look at the price guide, the inventories
that contained these special bricks, and we studied the nature of the bricks,
at least as far as we could.

What we found was that bricks listed under the normal (umbrella) entries sold
on average for over twice the price, and the volume of sales was 17 times of
bricks listed under the frosted entries. In addition, sellers listing under the
main entries didn’t have to spend the time sorting out their parts. So from a
marketplace standpoint, these frosted entries are simply an inefficiency (see
image below).

In the inventories, there was only spotty information about which sets these
bricks are in. This is likely the main reason for the lower sales volume, because
the BrickLink inventory system drives sales for vintage parts. We started adding
frosted entries to the catalog over 20 years ago, but they are only reflected
in 24 inventories to date.

When it comes to the bricks themselves, there were actually more variants than
what are currently shown on BrickLink. And we’ve never been able to settle on
a reason for these peculiar markings. Some have suggested they are simply the
same patterns one would find on solid color bricks of the same era. Whatever
they are, though, this type of variant is typically found only in sellers’ notes
and not reflected in standalone BrickLink entries.

In fact, it is a peculiar thing that these entries were only for Transparent
versions of the part. We don’t really do that on BrickLink. Normally, all the
colors are placed under one entry.

But perhaps the best reason for removing these entries is the lack of a real
use case for any of our members. For new users, these entries clutter up important
basic parts categories, and if they end up on a wanted list, they can certainly
cause problems.

For the seller who wants to fill out vintage sets, these entries do not solve
their need completely, because there are serious color matching issues with older
transparent parts. It is not “plug and play” with these variants, and truth be
told, it would be easier to obtain the necessary selection of parts by using
the main entries.

For the hard core collector looking for information, BrickLink has very little
to offer in the case of the frosted bricks. We don’t need separate entries to
add representative photos and comparison images of variants, and we were likely
to never complete the “collection” of these entries due to the large number of
different patterns.

In order to preserve what knowledge we have, we plan to release new Help pages
for certain variants covered in this project. Stay tuned.

Dear Bricklink,
It's a really bad idea to destroy our database. We need the original database
with all the part difference. The database is build over Years and your plan
wil destroy al the efforts what countles members did in in al this Years. I am
a buyer and sometimes i need a specific part. With Your plan it's almost
impossible to buy that specific part. With your simplifacation you wil destroy
years of hard labor and makes things much more difficult.
So please don't do it.

I propose an analogy between LEGO parts and Stamps - where there is basically
the same 2 different needs, approaches and goals.

On one side Collectors, Historians POV

We've to carefully differentiate those:
Type I: without shading on the first circle to the left from number 1 (NBN).
Type II: shading on the first circle to the left from number 1 (ABN and CBN).
Type III: retouching: darker engraving in upper corners (ABN).

Price: up to huge.
Availability: complicated, up to impossible.
In forum: present and shouting
Number: hundreds to thousands?

On the other side, every day Buyers, Builders, Creators POV

Price: 68 cents.
Availability: quasi infinite.
In forum: zero
Number: tens of millions (with half a million already on BrickLink, and
millions on PAB)?

BrickLink will of course choose to support the vast majority of buyers.
Just like USPS is selling base stamps for every day usage.
Because it's what the vast majority needs.

BUT BrickLink will ALSO keep on providing it's finest Catalog on Earth to
those who need details of the History of the Brand.

Please Collectors, Historians, rebuilders of Sets from the past - consider the
whole market. And you'll still have the Catalog we all love and use.
So what?

I really and sincerely hope that helps?

Hey, I just am trying to draw to everyone's attention the update Bricklink
is rolling out on February first that will cause several types of pieces to be
merged together under specific listings. For example, slopes that have smooth
and rough sides will no longer be considered different pieces. Now, this is
a BIG PROBLEM. When you are MOCing and you need a specific texture for a, lets
say, roof, and you use the wrong texture, it stands out A LOT. I hope everyone
sees what I am getting to here. If sellers are allowed to combine those two VERY
DIFFERENT variants of pieces, I may need to do several orders to get the actual
pieces I want, and it won't be the sellers fault if they send me a mix of
TWO DISTINCT TYPES OF PIECES. I am new to Bricklink, so maybe this has happened
before, but right now, this seems like it could pose a huge problem. I am sure
the Bricklink Devs had good intentions in mind when they decided to merge these
piece variants, but what they said in their letter to the Sellers, quote, "We
consider them (the piece variants) to be relatively unimportant and cumbersome
from the viewpoint of the Bricklink Marketplace" IS NOT TRUE. Specific things
like the textured variants of pieces DO MATTER. Please spread the word and hopefully
the Bricklink Devs will listen to the community.

Hello,

Regardless of my thoughts toward losing some valuable variants in our Catalog,
I have now read the message twice, and read most of the main Forum thread, and
I still have no idea how technically this is going to work.

You are going to take two active catalog items, 3747b and 3747a for example,
choose a main Image, choose one Image for each of the color thumbnails, choose
1 Price Guide (or does this merge also), and add a new Note explaining the 2
different versions. Is an experienced Catalog Expert going to do this or someone
else? Will the deleted info be archived in case of errors?

Then, you are going to merge the two items in the Catalog.

Seller shop inventory
Seller's shop items will be merged unless they paste a specific string of
text on the entry ahead of time. If not, they will not get to choose which price
is used or any of the other lot data. They will not be given a log of exactly
what was merged or changed.

It's not as if sellers are already prone to blaming BrickLink for errors
in their inventory. Now BrickLink will be actively changing their store listings.
We have no way of testing if this going to work and no way of flagging or logging
errors created.

Set Inventories
All Set Inventories that have these items will change to just one item. Any sets
that have the parts listed as Alternates will ?? Any Match ID's affected
will ?? Links to Change Requests discussing these items will ??

Everything else
All Wanted Lists that have these items listed will have the parts merged? What
if they are in separate projects? Isn't there an issue with Wanted Lists
already that involves problems with duplicate items?

All external links to one (or both) of the item variants will break or ??

All the people who write related software will have to adjust, rewrite, debug,
and ??

To sum up:

There is a reason it took so long to Mark Items for Deletion and then actually
delete them. It's to avoid all this trouble and uncertainty.

What happens 3 months from now when a seller who's been away reopens his
shop and doesn't understand what happened? You simply cannot count on every
single member receiving, reading, and understanding the email message sent out.
Will they receive any Action Items within BrickLink to understand the changes?

I wonder how much Catalog Credit will just vanish on Feb 15th. Credit for images,
items, inventories, ... all gone.

Thanks,
~Jen

On Feb 15th some merging will occur in the database.
No matter what.

This Wednesday I (we?) received a BL message regarding the upcoming change.
With a link to a Help Page. Nice.
Until I clicked it....

If a seller wants to 'add a short line of text' for each lot affected,
sellers need to enterl more than 4000 numbers to check IF they are in their inventory.
And than manually editing the NOTE field.

This will take every seller hours of entering numbers, checking the results,
editing note-fields en checking for the edits to be correctly made.

Urgent request: can BL please provide a script or simple change page where
this actions can be (partially) automated?

Question for Admin_Russell: what happens exactly with my affected inventory entries
when nothing is changed on the sellers end?

Hi everybody,

I understand that alternate lots represent different production runs, but I recently
stumbled on a used set that has the correct amount of a part, albeit both regular
mold and alternate mold parts are featured.

Is this mix-and-match considered valid to sell the set on BrickLink or do I have
to have only parts from the regular or the alternate mold?

Thank you in advance!

The main picture is showing two sides of the same buffer but buyers claim they
were tricked by the picture into thinking they were buying a set of two buffers
per entry.
Or at the very least put a disclaimer that they are buying one buffer and the
picture is showing the variation of the part on both its sides.
While I believe the picture was well intended- it is hurting newer buyers (although
the last one making this claim had 36 feedbacks) and will potentially hurt sellers
and site credibility.
Another solution would be to only show the picture of the side of the part that
is impacted by the variation.
Thank you

Why does sw1259 (sw1287, sh739, sh731, etc) have the hair piece instead of the
helmet? The box and instructions show the character with the helmet. I think
more people who prefer to have the helmet over the hair. A good compromise would
be to have an in-set variant that lists this figure with the helmet for people
who want to buy the helmeted figure.

Does anyone know the story behind this item? It clearly exists, but is not attributed
to any sets. How/why would that happen?

42042 Bionicle Krana Holder 3 x 4 (Scoop / Bucket with Axle Hole)

Why is this part listed as "42042"? The ID of 42042 (and all the Element
IDs listed on this part) belong the Krana*. Shouldn't the scoop be listed
as "x[number]" since its ID is unknown?

*All 8 shapes of Krana share the same ID, as they were produced in the same mold,
which is how they were randomized.

I discovered a second variant of sh010. One uses dark green to outline the details
and the other uses black. Both found in separate copies of the 2012 batcave set.
I've seen more minor variants approved and I think this one is 'major'
enough for a split.

Hi,

both elephants are the same, but have a different colour AND a different number.
People find and choose one elephant and pick a non-existing colous (light/dark
gray, depending on the elephant). My suggestion would be to consolidate the elephants
into 1 single catalogue-item with two colour variants. If you found elephant
nr. 1c02 it seems now both colors come from the same set. One has to search for
the other elephant to find info on the other set, but you can't know it exists,
because there a two colours offered for sale for each elephant.

Regards,
Remko

Hello,

I'm in the middle of doing the inventory for set 21254 The Turtle Beach House.

The side of the box identifies the large turtle as a named entity but does not
show/name the three baby turtles (built on page 12 of the instructions).

Set 30432 has all the parts for the large turtle but does not have the turtle
as a counterpart assembly.

Should mineturtle01 be added to both of these inventories?

Should I submit a counterpart assembly for the baby turtle (quantity 3)?

Thanks, - Chris

Hello,

I found a Minifigure / Mini Doll hair similar to
[p=bb1323pb01]
in set

Set No: 43246 Name: Disney Princess Market Adventure
*
43246-1 (Inv) Disney Princess Market Adventure
801 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2024
Sets: Disney: Disney Princess

It has mold number 100907. It weighs .65g and has more or less the same dimensions
as the current catalog listing. PCC is 6469268.

I don't have the 6416359 one to compare. Could this be a new mold or an
alternate number? It does look very alike. The mold number is visible in the
crevice on the underside.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

As a platform, we have decided to take a hard look at some of the mold variants
that we are currently asking you to recognize. For sellers, more variants means
extra sorting and extra work while pulling orders, plus the issues that arise
from variant misunderstandings.

For buyers, excess variants mean that it's harder to assemble a wanted list,
find stores, and ultimately obtain the parts you are looking for.

I have put together a quick Help page to outline these proposed changes:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2625

Notice the date on this is coming up quickly (Feb 1), so I'm not giving a
lot of time for discussion. I'm aiming for about 1 week of discussion and
then we'll give sellers 2 weeks to adjust the descriptions on affected items
if they wish to retain the distinctions.

I plan to construct a full FAQ page with answers to all your questions. This
will serve to inform users about what was done here in February 2024, and also
help point the catalog in the right direction in the future.

To get started, I'll list a few here:

1. This sounds like you're dumbing down the BrickLink catalog to make
it easier for new users. Is that what is going on?

Not really. There are many, many other variants we expect people to sort and
care about. These ones don't really seem to matter much, and some of them
(e.g., the minifigure heads) actually cause problems for the catalog that cannot
be corrected otherwise.

2. What if I really care about a certain variant that is going away? Can I
still buy and sell that variant?

Absolutely! You can add notes to your listings to make them as "determined"
as you wish. Buyers can still search within notes for extra details, or they
can simply observe them as they browse listings.

3. How do I know which exact variants will be merged? I only see one example
in each category.

Please ask in this thread and I can be very specific. Usually we are talking
about a handful of parts and the printed versions.

4. Has a merge like this ever been done before?

Yes, there was a precedent - the Headlight Brick with Slot:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1016584

It was marked for deletion a few years ago and was finally merged last August.

5. Are these the only parts up for consideration, or are there other variants
that will be merged as well?

This is all for now. Based on how well this goes, we may elect to remove other
entries later. However, we will keep all functional variants and important cosmetic
variants.

Hi,

Minecraft minifigure min094 is missing in the catalog. We have a continuous range
from min001 until min159. But 094 is not there

Is there a catalogue admin who knows the story? It must happened somewhere in
2021.
And can we fill up the gap somehow?

For instance with the next variant of the Iron Golem which now counts 4: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=iron%20golem#T=M

Another suggestion is to use min094 for a future variant of Steve (009) or
Alex (017), like when they appear with legs or helmets in a new colour.

It looks like this - don't use this pic, it's not mine:

Hello!

I noticed that some sets like the Daily Bugle (76178-1) list the Doc Ock figure
with the arms included, but the one from the Monster Truck set (76174-1) didn't.

Could it be at least included as an alternate to the minifigure alone? It makes
more sense to me for the figure to be offered both with and without the mechanical
arms, but the listings including these are inconsistent.

Thanks for the consideration and any feedback about the situation.

Hello!

I've submitted a new minifigure, hp466 with the correct legs on the Harry
Potter figure that comes with the book, b23hp08. I used my own copy to provide
the images. Since I can't suggest the inventory change until the new minifigure
is approved, I figured here would be the best place to provide proof that a new
minifigure listing is necessary. See the attached images.

Thanks!

Just submitted these to be added to the catalog. As far as I can tell, there's
no actual item number to reference, so I submitted the LEGO with "badgeset6"
as item number.

What do you think; did I do it wrong? Is there another, maybe better term to
use as item number?

Part No: x55 Name: Plastic Flag 3 x 6 Ninja Pattern Blue
*
x55 Plastic Flag 3 x 6 Ninja Pattern Blue
Parts: Plastic

The odd examples do not look like they are worn.

Image one against dark background has the examples in the centre, each end is
the catalogue image version.

The gold quite noticeable on catalogue version but odd examples are transparent.

Note in other images, over light, that the odd ones are transparent in the centre
( image 2 ) and the others ( image 3 ) appear darker around ninja symbol.

Less colour applied or variation ?

One I would have dismissed but 4

Any views ?

Anyone else have these ?

Having two 325-sets in hand, I notice that there are completely different layouted-instructions.
While one is in landscape-style, the other one has portrait-style. Maybe that
should be added to the catalogue-entry 325-3.
I have pictures of both types available but can not upload them here for whatever
reason.

Set #71043, Hogwarts Castle, is missing one stickered part.
There should be a Tan 2x2 tile with 3 windows, but instead, the 1x2 tile with
3 windows is listed as having 2 in the set.

This is inaccurate.

According to the instructions, book 2, Page 148, step 361, sticker 23 goes on
a 1 2x2 tan tile, and 1 1x2 tile.

I have added the part, as 3068bpb1100, and a picture to go with it.
Please add the part, and connect it to set 71043, and correct the part count
for part # 3069bpb1004 to 1 instead of 2.

Thank you!

Hello,
I have this slope 30 1x2x2/3 piece with a sticker. The sticker is the mirror
version of 85984pb294.( upside down) but i can't find anything about it.
Also it can not be that the sticker is placed upside down because then the white
dot would be on the other side.
Please see picture below.
Is there a difference in those 2 or can i list it as 85984pb294?

Thanks

I was trying to order some of these when I noticed a strange thing.
I think there is a problem identifying which variations of the brick that vendors
have for sale.
Either that or the correct brick has not been identified in the set-inventories.

3002old TC comes in 36 sets and there are 411 available to purchase.
3002 TC comes in 1 set and there are 344 available.

That one set with 3002 TC is 1469, a shell helicopter with only one 3002 TC and
yet this one set accounts for 45% of the 2 x 3 Trans-Clear Bricks on BL. This
just doesn't seem likely to me.

PS
3002 has a couple more variations but I don't think they're relevant.
bhol03 doesn't have a TC colour.
3002f1 doesn't come in any sets apparently.

I wasn't able to find this brick in the catalog and was wondering if anyone
knew what it is. It's a yellow 1 x 2 brick but instead of one of the studs
there is a hole. It came in a bin of older bricks that I'm guessing is from
the 1970's or 80's.

This part predates the RC functionality and is not exclusive to the RC train

is to make it easier to search. But it still feels wrong to have RC in the name.

Hi

A while back i ordered new window frames (for 2493c01) for my 8680 set using
the Bricklink inventory as reference. When i got them i was thinking to switch
the glass over from my discolored variants, however i found out that the windows
i had, has fixed glass in them. The window i have with the set is part 4347.
I also noticed that Rebrickable and brickset use this part in their inventory.

When looking in the instructions, the step where the windows are added does not
describe the glass being added to the frame, thus i think 4347 is the most corect
window here. However i cannot be sure that 2493c01 was never used also. Perhaps
the instruction was kept not describing to insert the glass, or perhaps there
are two versions of the instruction floating around?

I was hoping to get some input from the community before going ahead and requesting
an inventory change request since i'm not really sure what is the most corect
corse of action here.

Hi,

The following 2 items both carry the same sticker (comming from 2 different stickersets),
but the description of these 2 items (both as parts as in inventory) seems to
me as inconsistent - not sure how big the issue is though

- 3754pb17 is called “brick with...(...sticker)"

- BA008pb10 is called “stickered assembly” (and: “white stickered assembly”)

Kind regards,

Thanks in advance.

When will sw1312 be updated with the set it belongs to and the year it was released?
Wasn't it in a polybag of some sort?

Hi there

some questions about Promotional parts;

what's the difference between part 4066pb513 and 4066pb506? I can't see
any difference.
and what's the difference between 76371pb210 and 76371pb147? There's
also not any little difference to see..

also 76371pb176 and 76371pb110
or 4066pb552 and 4066pb509

and there are many many more entries like them...

regards

I am looking for a part in my inventory:

Brick, Round 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2/3 Dome Top

Part No: 20952  Name: Brick, Round 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2/3 Dome Top
*
20952 Brick, Round 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2/3 Dome Top
Parts: Brick, Round {Light Bluish Gray}

and I was wondering if this part had been renamed as I cannot seem to find it
in my Brick Round category.

Is there a way to find out a part's naming history. For example, part 6091
used to be a brick modified before it was changed to a slope curved.

Thanks,

Evan

Hi all....Been away for 6 months due to surgery...just started listing a few
items and noticed so many missing images in the catalog? Wasn't like this
before...is there a reason?
thanks! (I really use it a lot to identify torsos, etc.)

I’ve now found this :

Part No: 71958c01pb01 Name: Boat, Hull Unitary 22 x 8 x 2 1/3 with White Top with Number 327 and Fire Logo on Black and White Stripes Pattern on Both Sides (71958pb01 / 30255)
*
71958c01pb01 (Inv) Boat, Hull Unitary 22 x 8 x 2 1/3 with White Top with Number 327 and Fire Logo on Black and White Stripes Pattern on Both Sides (71958pb01 / 30255)
Parts: Boat

However it does come apart very easily.

Should this have a parts list of :

30255 white x 1

Plus a new part for the hull, something like 71958pb01 red with printed fire
pattern and 327 x 1

I do not know the item numbers for the 2 pieces in question but they are the
last 2 stickers to be used in the set. On the sticker sheet they are items 9
and 10 and go on Lego piece 6179. Can they please be added to the inventory to
be made available for purchase?

Hi!

The "Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank (Undetermined
Type)" is marked for deletion in the catalog.

Part No: 30091 Name: Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank (Undetermined Type)
*
30091 Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Dark Bluish Gray}
Marked for Deletion

There are 2 new versoins:
"without Bar Holder":

Part No: 30091a Name: Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank without Bar Holder
*
30091a Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank without Bar Holder
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {White}

"with Bar Holder":

Part No: 30091b Name: Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank with Bar Holder
*
30091b Minifigure Breathing Apparatus, Scuba Regulator and Air Tank with Bar Holder
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Light Bluish Gray}

I was able to identify 2 of the 4 I have as "without Bar Holder" (top
and right on my pictures), but what are the other 2? The slot is to narrow to
fit a regular bar, even with force.

In the pictures of bricklink the "with Bar Holder" pictures show that
the "holders" are not that big as the ones in my pictures.

Thanks!

Hello!

There is a bit of confusion in the use of the listings of the Brick Costume Assemblies,
and I'm not sure how to fix them. Here is the list of assemblies:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=37191&in=P

The list there has individual listings for each combination of arm and hand color,
and it's not clear if the intent is to have individual listings for each
combination of arm, hand, and costume (brick) color.

Three of the assembly listings, 37191c01, 37191c04, and 37191c05, have lots for
sale in color options that are not identified as Known Colors. This is strong
evidence that the sellers of these combinations do not understand the differences
in the way these items are listed and are selecting the base assembly (37191)
or one as close to what they have as possible, and then choosing a different
costume color with the arm and hand color listed that hasn't been produced.

Lego has not officially created any assembly with differently colored arms than
the costume, and it is considered an illegal building technique to remove the
arms and change that combination, but it is possible to do so.

So how can I help clean up those color selections? Is there a method to reach
out to the sellers with incorrect listings and have their listings corrected?
If that were corrected, would the alternate color details correct itself (there
is price guide information for incorrect colors on 37191c05)?

I'm hoping there's a good way to help correct this little problem, and
make it more clear to sellers in the future how the listings are broken out.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Hello!

I recently submitted the set TRUCHIMA-1, along with a picture of the set.

However, when I saw that the set had been approved, I noticed that the image
I submitted had been replaced by another.

I would like to know why this was done, and if there is any way my original picture
can be restored to the set's page.

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Kind regards, Wolfy
