The site would be a lot easier if it had a responsive design, allowing it to
adjust to the user's screen size/be mobile device friendly. I'd be happy
to help.

I can’t post pictures taken on my iPad or iPhone to BrickLink due to the size
of the file..

Is there a way this can be fixed at bricklinks end?

While shopping, I would like to see the option to limit my search according to
country. For example, I live in the USA and I don't want to buy outside of
the USA. I would like to be able to search items only in the USA. Thanks.

So now that instant checkout is running I have a lot of repeat customers that
do not use their coupons. Often these customers are the same ones that I need
to remind them about their coupons. However with instant checkout enabled I don't
have any opportunity to tell them to use it before they pay.

Please have them automatically applied to the next order they make in store,
with the option to not use it if they wish to save it for a bigger purchase.

Thanks,

Tyson.

I believe in instant checkout even though I still have a few problems with it
that are still not being addressed. However:

I believe you should know the cost upfront of your cart, fees and shipping before
being obliged to pay.

I recently placed an order and again the fees and extra are so buried within
the terms the parts cost become 34% more! also I was invoiced for the larger
box option, and I know if using the instant checkout the parts would have easily
fit into the smaller letter rate. I read the terms 3 times and still some fees
were still easily missed.

This happens over and over again, its not a one off.

I think it should be mandatory by Bricklink that any seller not using Instant
checkout will

Automatically will have the Quote option enabled.

What is the harm in that?

Every customer can make a decision up front if the fees and postage are reasonable
and acceptable. When im invoiced a total random bunch of fees I am not entered
into the contact agreement before knowing them.

I notice for many months that you annouced wishing to allow wishlist sharing
possibilities, and according to all the needs requested by all type of users,
I propose you the following method, which is very easy and cheap to implement
in the database...

Beside the Wishlist sharing actuator, add a dropbox with the following items
(activate those whoch are useable, from easiest to most complex (last one...)
:

- visibility (give a sharing link like http://sharing.bricklink.com/wishlist767676
and whatever you need but no personal informations, all need to be encrypted
with numbers or letters)
- visibility + global comment (one comment field for all users, and especially
wishlist owner to allow sharing ideas... Only owner can delete part of the comment!
But all those who have the link can add new lines below, signed with their bricklink
identifier/username!)
- visibility + personal comment (comments can be added by anyone, signed with
the bricklink identifier/username of the member, and can be reedited and completed
by the wishlist owner and by the member who has access to the wishlist, this
is like in any shop comment tool...)
- propose item ability (allow the user to propose with his blicklink username
a new item to the list, which need to be accepted by the wishlist owner before
appearing in the wishlist to all others who have access to it...)
- add item ability (allow the user to add an item, signed by his bricklink username,
without confirmation requested by the wishlist owner who can delete it, as any
other item)
- define quantity ability (allow the user to change the quantity of owned items,
if possible with his username so that the wishlist owner can see where the requested
pieces are : make another table with only items id and quantity (not color :
defined in the wishlist owner's database! and no specific information, as
the number of requested items is calculated from the rest of missing items less
the ones already owned by this wishlist user... When any user add some pieces
in the wishlist as found, the amount of such requested pieces is reduced, till
the pieces are given/sold to the wishlist owner...))
- define requested quantity ability (allow the user to change the quantity of
requested items and owned items, if possible with his username so that the wishlist
owner can see where the requested pieces are...)

In all wishlists, add a colour converter, as requested previously : it will be
much easier to change for example all orange pieces in this wishlist by same
blue ones or/and all the yellow ones by red ones, and this step by step with
all sorts of colours! To replace red by black and black by blue, it need to pass
by another coulour so please check that there are no pieces of this coulour in
the set now so that coulour are not all mixed up (very rare colour are perfect
for this, and the special technic pieces stay in the available colour, and the
user should be able to choose if he wants to keep the standard colour for special
technic pieces or use the more expensive personalized ones... and choose how
much he wants for each of them (with + and - buttons beside the number field,
the rest staying in standard black/light blueish grey/... colour))...

Thank you for proceeding, feel free to ask more accurate questions to undertand
better what I tried to explain shortly...

Please, make the “Wanted Items” tab in the Buy page more visible.

The default is on the “Wanted Lists” tab (first pic), which simply lists WLs
and show their fulfillment percentage.

But few know about the second tab, “Wanted Items” (second pic), which allows
to:
— select items individually,
— make them mandatory or not,
— see how many of each a store has,
— know which items haven’t been found / fulfilled in the current list of selected
stores.

My suggestion would be either to make the simple fact there’re tabs more visible
(adding icons or obvious buttons?) or to simply get rid of the simple view (just
add the fulfillement percentage near the WL’s name in the more complete view).

(Already two questions today for which “Wanted Items” was the answer. And several
more in the past weeks.)

I'd like to see an additional package adjustment. Add x weight for each
lot in the order. (I suppose volume could be done too, but weight seems most
important)

If this were available, I would add 0.015 ounces per lot. My estimate of average
baggie weight. (Qty 100 2x2 baggies = 1.5 ounces)

In my experience 14.5 ounces of ABS in one lot will easily ship at the 15.9 ounce
USPS First Class Package rate (US domestic). But 14.0 ounces in 75 lots will
certainly exceed the maximum weight for the USPS Domestic First Class Package.

NOTES: Base weight in this scenario 1.0 ounces for me. #2 bubble mailer, 9x12
baggie, 1 sheet of paper, and one 4x6 thermal label. A 5% weight adjustment
on lot weight would put the 14.5 ounce order as too heavy, while the 14.0 ounce
order is under 16 ounces. Which is the opposite of what I want to happen.

Questions: for US sellers with reliable instant checkout, what base weight
& percentage adjustment are you using today? I don't really care about
14 ounces vs. 15 ounce rate. Just the under/over when there is a large rate
jump.

Dear team,

I would like to propose a small change to the "Mass Feedback Post" functionality.

Situation:
I use the "Mass Feedback Post" function a lot, giving feedback to all customers
once an order is shipped. I use the link on the "orders" page of my store.

Problem:
The "Mass feedback" page lists both orders that were made in my store, as well
as orders made by me in other people's stores. This regularly causes me to
praise stores I bought lego at to be "great buyers" Since it's not possible
to change feedback once posted, I can't give them the feedback I want.

Analysis:
As a User Experience Analist, I often tackle these kind of UX problems. In this
case what a user expects from a funtion (giving feedback to customers) differs
from the actual functionality (giving feedback to all orders that qualify). As
the user is in a customer context, it's strange that the "buying context"
is mixed.

Proposed solution:
There are multiple ways of solving this of course, one of these two should work
best I think:

1. Split the functionality. From the my store orders page, clicking the "mass
feedback" link should list only orders from buyers in your store, not the orders
you placed. From the "my orders" page it should work the other way around fo
course.

2. Divide the screen in two: List all orders in your store first, list orders
you placed below them clearly indicated as a seperate list.

I hope someone recognizes this as a problem as well, and I hope you find this
a valuable suggestion!

Kind regards,

Wouter Slager

Maybe this already exists, but it might be nifty to be able to search for more
than one part at a time to see which store offers the best price for both. Or
more.

Hello together,
as we have been using Instant Checkout for a while now, we want to share some
suggestions for improvements.

One issue we would like to emphasize is that only usernames are noted in Paypal
once an order is placed by using IC. We – and most likely many other Bricklink
Sellers – would highly appreciate if the Order-Id would also be shown in Paypal.
To know the Order-ID is crucial for businesses like us, e.g. when it comes to
taxation issues, where we need to allocate a concrete Order to each payment.
With the current system, we need to do that manually, what requires a lot of
effort which could easily be saved.

Another improvement we would love to see would be to show buyers already in the
shopping cart how much weight they can add without falling in the next higher
category of shipping costs. This would help the buyers to optimize their orders
if they like to.

Furthermore, we are experiencing some rounding errors concerning the VAT of shipping
costs. Currently, the VAT of the shipping costs is constantly rounded up (e.g.
EUR 1.0005 is rounded to EUR 1.01). This is not coherent with the rounding of
the item values which is correctly rounded commercially (e.g. EUR 1.0005 should
is rounded to EUR 1.00). Because of that, it is currently not possible to have
shipping costs of e.g. EUR 5.90 while having the VAT calculated correctly.

Finally, we would appreciate to have the option to hide the item dimensions (but
not the weight) when looking at particular orders. This would make printing orders
more printer-friendly. In this regard, we would also appreciate if the prices
could be rounded to 3 positions after decimal point (e.g. EUR 1.034). The current
rounding to 5 positions after decimal point (e.g. EUR 1.03456) is not useful
from our perspective. The potentially saved space could ideally be used to extend
the space of the item description. Again, this would make an order way more printer-friendly.
Although we know that the issues concerning making order more printer-friendly
are minor points. However, we want to emphasize them so that they might be implemented
in the future.

Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Wanja from MagicMagnus

In the Instant Checkout, Package restriction, please add "Maximum # parts" This
is required in order to ensure that a package is not larger than permitted.
For example, an order of 100 1x1 plates would be fine as lettermail, however
1000 of them would not fit, and thus would need to be shipped as a package.

Thank you for your consideration with this.

Instant checkout is pretty cool, and the BL team even took the trouble for us
to retrieve tables of postage costs from various postal services across the world.
Sweet!

However, the same could be done for payment methods, but currently the system
involves manually enter a percentage fee.

In the EU, it's not allowed to overcharge payment methods. Of course it's
legally allowed to charge anything as long as buyer and seller agree, but it
would be much more neat and more right for Bricklink ethics if there was no ability
to overcharge.

SUGGESTION: Auto-calculate payment method fee instead of allowing manual percentages.

This can be done in exactly the same way the system currently entertains postage
prices. It would be extremely useful, as for example PayPal fee percentages are
difficult to find out, difficult to remember, and difficult to calculate with
manually. This has always been giving sellers a quasi-valid excuse to overcharge
on it.

I hope that in the future custom percentage fees can be abolished entirely.

P.S.: In some countries it is not allowed to charge an additional fee for a payment
method. That's another topic. Bricklink could gray out the option for certain
region/payment method combinations, or simply leave it to the seller's responsibility.
Whatever is legally OK for Bricklink.

P.S.: A next step could be to calculate any percentage fees in the listings automatically.
This can be done by matching a seller's payment options to a buyer's
specified payment options, picking the cheapest, retrieve the fee, and factor
it into search results, into browsing in stores, etc.

I believe it would be very helpful for the collection of statistical data if
the way the search in Find Stores' returned its results was altered to include
a column for Instant checkout enabled/adopted. Use the same Lightning bolt that
is currently being used simply add the column rather than having to go back and
forth betwee the searches - without IC and the 2nd with

The example shown reflects the UK's top 11 stores for no of items. 5 of the
11 have implemented it so far. 6 haven't, for whatever reason.

This would save having to make 2 searches (and less calls on the server) apart
from making it easier to gather the data.

To better adapt order notification and order invoice templates for instant and
non-instant invoices/payments, I suggest an "INSTANT" conditional block macro
tag.

From my point of view, we can improve the communication with our customers and
their shopping experience if the e-mails they receive do not contain unnecessary
or inapplicable information.

Example: We received messages from customers who asked "Why do I receive an invoice
with payment instructions? I already paid!"

Is there any chance of bringing back the option for sellers to select a default
shipping method? Since rolling out Instant Checkout my default method has become
local pickup, (No idea why, certainly not my choice) which would be fine if buyers
actually read the description. I now have orders being paid for on a daily basis
by people living thousands of kilometers away that I then have to go through
the hassle of getting shipping money from.

Does anyone else think the checkout page needs to be modified? The first option
for store terms "Agree & Continue" makes it seem to the buyer they are agreeing
to commit to the order w/ the shipping option shown as soon as they click on
it. It even says "Items will be reserved for you, and you will obligated to
purchase them.
" right under the Agree & Continue button. This message shouldn't
be displayed until the Place Order button shows up. I would also rather have
the Shipping tab show up first or leave S&H empty until they reach that tab so
the buyer can see all options available.

I would like to suggest that when viewing a set's inventory, an icon be displayed
next to each part that is unique (element number + color combination) to that
set. In the event a new set is inventoried and contains a previously unique
element, the icon disappears.

Thanks for your consideration.

I would like to see the possibility to overwrite S&H for any given item, the
same way we can put our own dimensions/weight.

We could offer free shipping by setting it to 0 or for example a flat $10 shipping
fee. Either only for domestic shipping and two values, one for International,
one for Domestic.

When browsing, buyer could see a specific free/flat shopping icon.

If the item with specific shipping is bundled with other items, it would be excluded
from the calculation and its flat shipping fee added to the result (if any).

Further more, in search filters, we could select items with free/flat shipping.

Hay Guys,

New to bricklink just noticed that you can't setup a different postal/shipping
adress then billing address.
Would be handy there's a lot of people living in different countries then
born.
Sometimes it would be easier and cheaper to send package to Motherland.

With instant checkout most of the orders I receive are paid before I am even
aware of them, although I still get a confirmation email from both Bricklink
and Paypal.

I would be useful for Bricklink to have an option to only send the email notification
if there is an order that requires a manual invoice (or requesting a quote obviously).

That way I know there is something I need to do. Otherwise it might be several
hours before I check the orders page and realize an invoice needs to be sent.

Hi everyone.

I was wanting to give one of the many Lego building software's a go preferably
one that works with brick Link. I don't mind paying but a free one would
be preferable.
What does everyone recommend? The simpler the better I might add, I'm not
bad with technology but I am going to be trying to teach my grandson how to do
it.

Hello, would it be posible to add a custom payment method option for "local"
(national) payment options like "Swish" here in Sweden or "Ideal" in the Netherlands.

I dont think it would be that hard to implement but it would help a lot. At the
moment I have added a note to my bank transfer option thats say that I also accet
Swish-payments, but I still have to ask the buyer which method he wants to use.

When getting an order thru Instant Check-out I would like to see a copy of the

I have saved these for future reference for years.

I know it's already been hashed over and over that sellers want to be able
to buy in their own store, and, for reasons I still cannot fathom, BL has refused
to allow it. But that isn't why I'm posting here.

The real problem is that I'm unable to test my store settings from a customer's
perspective. This is %$#%@# ridiculous. No store on the planet has a policy
that stops employees and management from taking items to a register and going
through check out process (and then void the sale, or abandon it before finishing).
Now this new instant check out has me setting up a system that I'm barred
from using without going to someone else's store to experience their *different*
configuration.

I guess I need to set up a shill account in violation of BL's terms just
so I can make sure my store works as I intend?

why isn't a copy of the invoice sent to the seller on instant checkout?

I'd like to see that a) it is sent and b) keep a copy

regards

Until the automatic checkout feature is able to calculate state sales tax, allow
orders from specified USA states to be blocked.

This should be done at the store level. Very similar to the check boxes for countries
to ship to.

In my case, I’ve tried to get around the lack of a tax calculation line item
by creating a special shipping choice for Florida residents which includes a
6% fee. I can still lose out on up to 1.5% because cities and counties can have
additional taxes.

In practice, none of my orders from new buyers select the Florida Residents option,
so I am out 7.5%.

All measurement units and weights should be converted to Metric.

All other measurement units should be abandoned including stud lengths and imperial
units.

Thank you,

Is it possible to have emails sent from the actual address when someone contacts
me through the Bricklink site? Rather than having them generated from blservice@bricklink.com.

When I hit reply, the response goes back to Bricklink instead of to the email
author.

Either that or have it sent to a dead email address so at least I will get an
error that it wasn't delivered.

This has probably been suggested before.

Please add new Non-Commercial Activity category to the My activity section to
cover add Packaging Dimensions to Catalogue Items. Include Pending, approved

This will allow individuals to identify what is happening with their submissions.

I have just had an instance where a buyer has placed an order in my store and
paid with an echeque. I had set the status to clearing whilst the echeque cleared
and the buyer has
gone and placed another order which instead of creating a new order has been
added as an addition to the old one. This is making things messy.

My suggestion is that any order set to clearing should have the same status as
paid or packed and not allow any additions but create a new order.

Hi,

With the exception of one message (October 13) without the standard subject "Regarding
BrickLink Order #_______", all of my Inbox and Outbox non-Order# messages over
the last few months have been removed.

I did not delete these messages, and as a matter of routine do not delete any
BrickLink messages, since they're eventually cleared out after six months
or so. Recent messages are important, because they provide a record of shipping
quotes and other communications with potential buyers.

Please restore them, Matthew

Hi Admins,

Please consider-

We have set up multiple shipping methods to handle different shipping box sizes
and weights, all these have been "grouped" as one as they all refer to one shipping
option for the buyer that being UK domestic 1st class. The system is designed
to offer only the lowest priced option within the group to the buyer and so far
this seems to work well

However it makes the shipping terms look very messy with rows of options looking
exactly the same of which only one will be offered to the buyer at checkout (see
our shipping terms as an example). Would it be possible to "hide" all these options
and just show a summary description of the shipping method by "group" in the
displayed shipping methods?

Thanks,

Robert

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have never noticed an option for two-factor authentication
on BrickLink and I think that in this day and age most websites and services
should include it.

So...

I propose the addition of two factor authentication (via SMS code).

Hello
I would like to suggest a category split:

I like to purchase printed tiles, but I am not interested in parts that have
stickers already applied. Currently, the category for "Tiles - Printed" has
a great number of parts which are not printed but actually a sticker.

My suggestion is to create two categories: "Tiles - Printed" which is reserved
only for true printed parts, and "Tiles - with Sticker" for the others.

thank you for your consideration,

A recent forum message just reminded me of a concept I thought of awhile ago.

Please consider creating 3 options for wanted list viewing among users.

Private:
Default option. No one else can see your any of your lists.

Limited:
Much like reserving items where you enter a user name. This would allow one
person of your choosing to view a specific list.

Public:
One or all of your lists can be seen by everyone.

I recognize that this isn't the most important upgrade that is needed, however,
a feature such as this has been wanted by many for a long time.

It would be very helpful if in the part descriptions submitters were required
to put colours where appropriate. For example and especially for minifig torso
assemblies.

If someone submits a new minifig torso or legs assembly they should fill in a
short form for Hip colours, leg colour(s) as well as torso colour, arm colour
and hand colour.

If we could get this as a requirement it would make life much easier especially
when using tools like goatleg.

If the description doesn't include all this information then Goatleg doesn't
always find it and that makes identifying some of these parts much harder than
it needs to be.

I have noticed that, there is no easy way when using the auto select option on
wanted lists to compare it to the actual wanted list. Sometimes the selector
will get more than 100% of the parts needed and there is no way to see what parts
are being doubled up on. Also, when not all 100% of parts are located there
is no simple way to see what parts haven't been ordered so I cannot select
alternate parts. Basically unless I get a 100% match I cannot place an order
without either wasting money on parts I don't need or ordering an incomplete
model

Hello all. I have been going through the Members - Feedback ratings list, going
on page 21,158 to find information on something that I have been wondering about.
Well in doing this I have seen thousands of users that don't seem to be
"active" users. So I am thinking the 731,476 registered users is somewhat irrelevant.
Many are a once and done, sort of user.

I would like to suggest, that leaving the registered user count intact, but add
the count of "Active" users. Have BL not count the inactive users after say
6 months or 1 year, of actual log in date. This would give us all a better idea
of how many actual users are using BL. This could work just as the purge orders
after 6 months. This would still allow a user to log in after being put into
not active, and then would be in the active number for the 6 months or year.

What say you?

Hi,

I recently commented that the apparent BrickLink-imposed delay of 29 (or 30)
minutes may wrongly give customers the impression they must complete their order
within this time frame, as opposed to my and others' store closed messages
which often state to simply contact the seller for a bypass password, allowing
for however much time, often days, a seller can provide a particular customer
to finish their shopping cart. In short, I think the store closure message is
more polite than the 29-minute countdown.

Another consideration is that the 29-minute delay means the store is simply not
closed when a store owner wants it to be.

For example, I recently made a large discount error across many more lots and
item types than intended. I didn't know how to quickly undo the change without
messing up other pricing considerations, so I "closed" my store to ensure no
orders were placed with erroneous pricing.

However my store was not actually closed, based on BrickLink's imposed delay.
And during the five to ten minutes needed to set things straight, an order could
have been placed based on unintended pricing.

I recommend that stores close at the moment when store owners want them closed.

Sincerely, Matthew

For many years, I have used the "Item Finder" instead of "Search" at the top
of most pages as I find the functionality better, specifically for filtering
the country of origin of seller.

I again find the "new" search pages not as helpful. I click on "USA" for origin,
then click details, and it shows all parts, not just the sellers in "USA" for
example.

I wanted to pass along this user feedback and see if anyone else has easier and
better ways to find parts. I do not see the "Item Finder" on the new pages,
and suggest that it remain.

Team,

I have been waiting to open my store for over a month. I am more than ready to
start selling. Do you need help in this department? Volunteers to assist in matters
like this?

Cheers!
