BrickLink Designer Program is parallel to LEGO Ideas.

LEGO?

Regarding the Ideas builds on ideas.lego.com - these are just builds by people
not working for LEGO, right? Are all the parts existing LEGO parts, or do
they somehow make new ones themselves? For instance, mini-figures for a new theme.
Do they just find existing heads and torsos that resemble what they are trying
to achieve? And how does this work with themes that include IP from some other
source not licensed by LEGO? For example, there's a Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
set. As far as I can tell, LEGO never made a Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood set.
So how does the designer and LEGO deal with the licensing issue (the likeness,
the TV set, the names, etc. ) to display it on their Ideas website before it's
an official set and before LEGO has licensed that IP?

Also, do the Ideas designers print custom stickers or do they only use existing
decorated peices? And if they print stickers that include another company's
IP that LEGO has not licensed, how are they able to display those?

Thanks!

LEGO Ideas doesn’t have limitations on the parts used (colours & decors, I don’t
think you can use totally inexistent bricks).

The chosen designs are completely re-designed by LEGO (sometimes, according to
some, the results are not looking much like the submissions).

Submissions are limited to IPs in the sense that you won’t be chosen if you use
IP that LEGO already has (Harry Potter, Star Wars…).  You also won’t be chosen
if LEGO can’t (or won’t) acquire the IP.

BDP is limited to a palette of parts available when the sets will be produced
by LEGO.

One can make their own stickers (but not on minifigs).

The designs are not re-designed by LEGO.  They are _checked_ (and produced and
sold) by LEGO and small changes may be done but the goal is to have real AFOL-designed
products.

BDP is “no-IP” at all.  That includes IP LEGO already has rights for (Harry Potter,
Star Wars…) but also LEGO’s IP (NINJAGO…).  There’s tolerance for Classic Space
or Castle themes.

Good afternoon! I had hoped to re-open today but I'm feeling a bit beat-up after my adventures in France. I am planning on next Monday - hopefully I'll be better able to pick orders then.

In the meantime please enjoy this picture of my son and me in front of the Cathedral
in Chartres, France

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I got to climb that tower on the left when I was there.
What a view! Great memories.

Even tho the building is old gray?

Ha! I think it's Tan actually...

Here is a detail I took of some of the carvings on the front portico.
