And who would determine whether an order is suspicious or not? What are the boundaries?

Well, that would only be for good sellers of course!
Because, you know, there’s good sellers and bad sellers.
And the difference is that, the bad seller, he has a shop.  And when he sees
a suspicious order, he cancels.  Every time.  Doesn’t fail.
While the good seller, well, he has a shop.  And when he sees a suspicious order,
well, he cancels, yeah, right away, every time, but that’s not the same!  Because
he’s a good seller!
People need to know the difference between good and bad sellers.

Whether something is suspicious should be down to the seller, the one that actually
looses out if the buyer is a scammer. Remember sellers do not get to choose buyers.

And of course it could be monitored. I would not expect a seller to need to use
it very often.

Hi,

I searched on the Adventurers, Jungle category, and on the Internet, but I haven't
found anything about this sticker.
Maybe the person who added it on catalog could have a response !

2-He did not put his legal name in the order, just he put an invented words instad

3-The address is a temporary apartments
4-This apartaments have inside mailbox system similar PO BOX
5-Order have hight value, without much sence.
6-Payment can be only onsite becouse bricklink need to collect VAT.
7-Small conversation makes it more clear to me that something is wrong.

I know, I can cancel the order, he will put negative feeback, and he could create
a new account and do it again. I am a little stressed, after many years I have
never found myself in a situation like this.

I could send it with insurance and to pick it up at the collection point but
chargeback is also possible.

Can someone give me a idea of how to proceed in this case?

Thanks so much for the help.

Timed-out on BL?  When?  During part-out?

   Is
there an easy way to add or identify parts? Same question for swapping roof
colors on the clock tower.

Build the set in Studio… or find someone who already did, for instance:
— LDD format: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/41226-key-topic-official-lego-sets-made-in-ldd/
— LDraw format: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/48285-key-topic-official-lego-sets-made-in-ldraw/
— LDraw: http://omr.ldraw.org/
(Check the notes for missing parts / errors.)
and import the set in Studio.

Help page for importing LDD files in Studio: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5606572365847-Import-a-LEGO-Digital-Designer-LDD-file
(Importing LDraw files is about the same, with fewer problems.)

Then you can delete what you don’t want and change/test colours easily (Studio
also gives you colour availability and prices).
Help page for colouring: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5411673129879-Coloring-parts
Prices and availability: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5705572363159-Parts-prices-and-availability

You can also import the inventory (not built) in Studio (useful to build the
set):
— in the build area: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6153757706135-Import-an-official-LEGO-set-in-the-viewport
— as a palette: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5457935385239-Importing-an-official-LEGO-set-as-a-palette

Then upload in a Wanted List: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5705925898135-Upload-as-a-Wanted-List

Other Studio help pages: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us

Seems like there should be an easy way to identify
pages, bags, etc.

LEGO doesn’t provide the info.
You tried to do it and saw it was a lot of work, why do you think it would be
easier for someone else?

I may try ChatGPT -- which did not work the first time,
but in a word "Help"

In all seriousness, if you don't feel comfortable shipping the order (for

I think you have to cancel and hope they don't leave feedback. And if they
do, ignore it based on all the positives you have.

I had a similar one recently, a drop shipper that placed an order, then made
lots of demands on packaging type, speed, amount they were willing to pay for
delivery, photographs of the item. I just cancelled it telling them I could not
comply with their demands. If they leave negative feedback, I'll reply to
it and live with it.

It would be good if BL allowed sellers to cancel orders where the buyer is suspicious

Yes, it is a good suggestion that we could have this option.

Yes, dark brown can also be fragile. If you intend to go ahead with it, you
might want to practice your technique with a less expensive torso. If you haven't
done a lot of arm replacements in the past, there are certain techniques that
are 'safer'.

Recently, I bought a Sw0308 Saesee Tiin minifigure from set 7931. The minifigure
is in a really good condition with no loose body parts or cracks. I wanted to
change the white arms with dark brown ones however I've heard that dark brown
torso pieces from 2010's are usually fragile and easy to crack and I don't
want to crack the torso. Taking out the white arms won't be a problem but
placing the new arms is risky. What should I do ? Should I still remove and change
the arms or just leave it as it is ? Is there a safe way to change the arms without
breaking the torso ?

over the past 20 years. There are few things I need to do before listing them
all. For this, what is the best inventory management tool?

1. List is already in excel, Can I upload directly to BrickLink and/or Rebrickable?
2. Rather than looking up each set separately. Is there a way to get price range
from BL given some flags (Used, Complete, ...)
3. Most parts are sorted (separated sets). I ultimately like to get the 'higher
value' sets so it's worth to invest the time and group the sets together.
For example, no point in organizing the Friends sets if those are of low value.
4. I do not have much time to dedicate to this hobby. All sets/parts are stored
in 100+ boxs/oganizers (Ikea and the like). Ideally I'd like to sell all
at once, but need to inventory first to assess fair value.

BrickStore is free and open-source.
It can import/export studio, BL files, and rebrickable.
It's really the best way to manage inventory, orders, your collection, etc.

It may have something to do with weight limits. If an item exceeds the weight
limits you've set up for shipping it may show up as an error message.

Maybe you should have your buyer view this thread and post exactly what item
they're having issues with adding to their cart, including screenshots from
their device. If the buyer can't view the forums, forward any screenshots
they can get of the error message. That way you can learn what is causing this
and how to solve it.

Cheers ...

and we are happy to announce that they have been fixed. The fixes were put in

It's interesting to note that the blog post is from 2018.

If anyone wants a replacement 5 years later TLG might not be able to replace
them. The fact that the longer one waits making it more difficult to get replacements
also is stated in the article.

I hadn't heard of this issue with dark brown in particular but definitely
reddish brown. But there is *always* a chance of cracking the torso *and* the
arms when removing them or replacing them. I would just leave it as is.

Yep, I've let them know that there will be some additional VAT/customs fees
beyond the shipping costs they're paying now, and they're okay with it.
Thanks!

You risk breaking the torso taking the arms out and putting new ones in. The
new arms you put in might also be very loose. The only reason why you would
do this is if you had cracked arms already and wanted to replace them, otherwise
it is a very bad idea. You might try to purchase an armless torso and add more
modern dark brown arms to it. There are also similar older and more modern torsos
you could buy and use that might give you the look you want, though a lot of
them have a braid of hair.

I have a customer that can not add an item to the cart. They can add smaller

Not “directly.”

BL uses XML files.
I think Rebrickable can use CSV files, but they don’t use the same IDs as BL,
so, even if they take BL XML files, Orders or Wanted Lists, and Studio files,
I’m not sure they take CSV files with BL IDs.

You should be able to export in XML from Excel… but I’ll let you search how to
do it

Ideally I'd like to sell all
at once, but need to inventory first to assess fair value.

if time is limited.. personally i would just lot up sets with loose bricks &
figures at a fair set price you are happy with.

if very a limited timeframe.. do multiple sets with larger lots of bricks &
figures following a certain genre or theme. ( i.e. 3 castles, a few smaller sets
castle related, could pounds of bricks & handful of figures castle related).

fewer shipments on your end the better & any true collectors has money set aside
for nice higher end large lots like that...

good luck on them. sounds fun

There's nothing you need to do. Customs will collect VAT from the buyer.

if tax is involved either bricklink will collect it or the buyer will pay
it on delivery. and in your case, it sounds like the buyer will pay for it on
delivery. just make sure you attach the correct documents on the package when
you ship it out (not sure what they are when shipping from America so id ask
the post office or another bricklink user will help out)

Hello all,

I am a US based seller and just completed my first international sale to a buyer
in the EU. I used a manual invoice rather than set up a whole international
shipping option, since I was able to get an exact quote from my post office.
I've figured out how to add the shipping and insurance cost, but was unsure
when I got to the sales tax section.

From the BL policies, it appears that any item being sent from a non-EU country
to the EU is subject to VAT. It said that if the sale is under 150 Euros, BL
will collect it, and if it's over 150 Euros, the buyer/seller is responsible
for it.

The item I sold is over 150 Euros. So, does that mean that once the item arrives
to its destination, the buyer will have to pay VAT (as well as customs/import
duties? Or are these lumped in together and paid upon delivery?)? Or, do I
have to manually calculate VAT and add it to my invoice price? I don't want
to double-charge the buyer if they're going to have to pay VAT when they
actually get the item, but I also don't want to get stuck paying a hefty
VAT charge from my own pocket.

I appreciate any and all help! I've never really bought much internationally,
and have never sold anything internationally prior to this item, so I'm not
entirely sure how this whole process works.

In short, one should better avoid "browsing randomly": use wanted-list,
searches, etc.

So does this mean that if you have a lot of images of parts and such in your
browser cache from searching in the past that there is less likely a chance of
reaching the BL allowed limit of browsing?

Depends what the server have initialliy said about the duration of the validity
of the said image or such.

I don't think it'll work if the images are 1 year old.

But yes, if those are recent images, the browser doesn't request anything
to the server.

It decides itself that the image (for example) is still valid and shows you the
one in the cache.

Which is one problem happens often to newbies; they just arrive, zero cache,
browse a good hundred shop pages, catalog, price guide, Help, forum and... boom.

  Hi,

I don’t know much about selling but I see in your terms that there’s only a payment
method for “buyers in USA.”
So my guess is that you need to open up your payment method and/or link PP Onsite
to your international shipping method.

Ah, I see! I had checked basically every tab of the seller settings except for
that one! I think it's fixed now? I appreciate your help!

Hi,

I am studying an xml file with my inventory "Mu Store Inventory: Download".
This xml file has the IMAGE tag. I can't find a description of this tag,
it's always empty.
Maybe someone knows what this tag should contain?
I tried adding other photos to the details description, but the tag still remained
empty. I also looked at the API description there are no similar variables (loading
or unloading inventory).
It also turns out that using the API or Mas Inventory Uploads, we cannot change
the Custom Image.

A single shop items page (with a setting of 50 lots/page) is already approx 90
requests to BrickLink.

This could be about only 50 pages (in various shops, during 24 hrs) to reach
the 5000 requests.

But it's more than this, because your Browser caches pages, pictures, CSS
and code...

So it can be any number, it's unpredictable.

And it's a bit unfair because it'll hit more often "newbies"
because they don't have many elements in cache.

In short, one should better avoid "browsing randomly": use wanted-list,
searches, etc.

So does this mean that if you have a lot of images of parts and such in your

Like this?

BLS Manager can do that,

BLS Manager - Open Inventory List - Select inventory you want to export -
File - Export - Export Inventory to Excel.

You need to install BLS Manager + InSpaceSync in ReadOnly mode for this to work.

Did you receive an email copy of the order?

Orders submitted close to maintenance times may go missing for reasons known
only to the server admins.

If you have an email it will have the order number in it, and someone can track
down that order for you and restore it.

If not, I suggest you refund or reject the payment you received.

So if there is possbility to make that from Brickstore (which i used from few

Open your user preferences (in BrickStore) and log in with your BrickLink username
and password. Then, import your BrickLink store inventory and everything will
be there (with pictures).

You accept payments in so many currencies. Are you sure you want this?
If a buyer pay you in for example Australian dollars, you receive the payment
in Australian dollars and it goes to your PayPal balance. When you want do exchange
it to American dollar, PayPal deducts 4% of it.

The only way to fix this is to go to your Paypal settings and make sure you
only accept US dollars . Go to the little gear icon on the PP page after you
log in , it's next to "log out" on the upper right corner. Then click
Seller tools on the options at top,- its in the Profile section. - Scroll to
the section on "getting paid" and manage or update the settings. The
1st option is about allowing payments in a currency you do not hold. I would
suggest making this one "deny". You can also block payments from non
US Paypal accounts, this would only be if you do not plan to accept International
orders.

Many thanks to all

I won't promise anything, but as a start it would be helpful to know the
exact size of this item.

20 (without fin) x 27 x 5.5

Thank you!

I believe it's from

Set No: 6398 Name: Central Precinct HQ
*
6398-1 (Inv) Central Precinct HQ
592 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1993
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Police
see https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1993-lego-system-rescue-police-6398-1787180566
and Ebay 266208699557.
Maybe you can find someone who has the set with the inner box parts (for sale)
to confirm the size. Unfortunately I don't know if the numbers on those cardboard
parts were always the same for one part, or if they were random or varying numbers.
Good luck!

Don’t you just love this community

Without a single doubt in my mind!

Many thanks to all of you. I believe that's the set, since I found a lot
of it's bricks toghether with that inner box part. By the way: it would be
great if they were also inventoried, one day. It is on sale if someone need it!

Can confirm. I observe similar behavior, Edge.

In Technical Issues, WhyXanderWhy writes:
I want to report a small but annoying bug related to redirects after login timeout.
I have sent this bug report via email as well, but I thought it best to create
a thread here as well.

The bug occurs after I've been logged in to my orders page (the old version).
This page:
https://www.bricklink.com/orderReceivedOld.asp

After some amount of time the system automatically logs me out, as usual (I do
not have "keep me logged in" checked at the login screen). I leave my
orders window open in a pinned Chrome tab all the time so that it's easily
accessible.

Unfortunately, for quite some time now, when I go to the pinned tab and it reloads,
the system sees that I am no longer logged in and redirects me to the login page
with the following URL structure:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/login.page?logInTo=/orderReceivedOld.asp&logFolder=o&logSub=r

I login normally with my username and password, and once I've logged in I'm
immediately redirected to the 404 page:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/error_404.page

This occurs on both my desktop PC version of Chrome, and on my phone's Chrome
browser.

I can see that the "&logFolder=o&logSub=r" arguments in the URL being
passed to the site are what's causing the issue, as if I modify the URL to
remove those arguments the post-login redirect works as intended.

Thanks!

(I have no idea if VAT is something that can
be tax exempt like we can with individual states and reseller certs in the U.S.).

VAT-registered businesses can buy from VAT-registered businesses with a 0% VAT.
(Provided buyer and seller are in the same “VAT-area” or country.  That is, both
in EU, or both in UK, but not one in UK and one in EU.)

It’s an “exemption” in practice but not in name.  It’s a way of handling VAT
because when you’re VAT-registered, the VAT you pay is deductible, so it’s a
mechanism to neither pay it nor deduct it.

I think it’s workable on BrickLink (because BL doesn’t collect VAT inside the
VAT-areas; the BL VAT mechanism is just a way to show and compute prices).

As for importations (which is the only moment BrickLink has to and does collect
VAT), a VAT-registered business can choose whether they are treated as a “normal”
buyer, by paying VAT (that, contrarily to normal buyers, they’ll be able to deduct
afterward) or not pay VAT through the marketplace and declare and pay it on their
own.

And, for information and comparison, BrickLink has already implemented that:
BL VAT-registered sellers have the option to “remove” import VAT at checkout.

GREAT information. THANK YOU!

It’s okay for orders on which BL doesn’t have to collect taxes.

It can be done in the invoice templates… but it’s forbidden when there’s taxes
(and it breaks the template anyway).

Yes, that is the problem. Taxes need to be collected so an invoice must go through
Bricklink.

Your next steps are...
1. Refund your buyer. Send a message explaining why you are refunding them and
to expect a new invoice. Ask them to please use the "Pay" button on the
top right of the invoice or on the order page to the right of the order.

2. Send your buyer a new invoice. Do not add a link to your PayPal account.

3. Wait for payment to be made.

4. Ship.

I hope all goes well.

Yes, it’s exactly that.

You shouldn’t send a PayPal invoice for orders on which BL has to collect taxes
(for you, that means US buyers, UK buyers and EU buyers).

You need to refund the buyer and aks them to pay through the BL pay button.

Ed beat me to it. Taxes are added to the order by BL, and then handed over to
Uncle Sam. It's a regulatory thing and it really only affects the buyers
bottom line.

You do not pay the tax, the Buyers from California do when they place an order...
the tax is collected at the time of purchase by Bricklink on behalf of the Seller;
so, it's essentially a number you see on your orders page, but it's separate
from the money paid to you as the Seller (for items & shipping)...

So the only people paying a California state tax for an order is a Buyer from
California that places an order; in other words, we California Buyers would be
paying that state tax regardless of whichever Seller we buy from...

Life is Good.
